[OVERVIEW]

An excellent defensive typing, great durability, and access to Roost make Mega Scizor the defensive Mega Evolution of choice for teams that need checks for Zygarde, Tapu Bulu, Gengar, and Mamoswine. Scizor has an array of utility options at its disposal, with some of them boosted thanks to its Technician ability: Bullet Punch checks threats such as Nihilego and Kyurem-B, U-turn provides momentum for the team and prevents Mega Scizor from being set up on by more dangerous threats, and Defog clears out entry hazards. Unfortunately, being a common Mega Evolutions comes at a price, as many Pokemon will carry Hidden Power Fire just to deter Mega Scizor from switching in freely. Furthermore, Fire-types such as Heatran, Charizard, and Volcarona are major nuisances, as Mega Scizor allows them to switch in almost freely if it isn't using U-turn or double switching out. Regardless, Mega Scizor is a great Pokemon to have for teams looking for solid defensive qualities in a Pokemon with a solid utility movepool to assist its teammates.

Moves
========

Defog's main purpose is to clear entry hazards for Mega Scizor and its teammates. Though those moves are less commonly seen, it can clear Reflect, Light Screen, and Aurora Veil as well. U-turn prevents Mega Scizor from being too passive against opposing Pokemon. Unfortunately, Mega Scizor does not necessarily halt opposing hazard setters from continuously setting up after Mega Scizor uses Defog, but U-turn helps Mega Scizor punish those Pokemon by bringing in dangerous threats such as Greninja and Zapdos in response. Bullet Punch assists taking down faster offensive threats such as Gengar, Tapu Bulu, and Nihilego. Roost is necessary for Mega Scizor to keep itself healthy, as it is often forced to switch onto entry hazards to remove them with Defog.

In the event that Defog is not necessary on Mega Scizor, Pursuit and Hidden Power Ice are two viable attacks that can be used instead. Pursuit traps Gengar, Choice-locked Tapu Lele, and Mega Alakazam without Hidden Power Fire. Hidden Power Ice reaches 90 Base Power with Technician, which is useful for hitting Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Garchomp lacking a Fire-type attack.

Set Details
========

Near-maximum HP is necessary to help bolster Mega Scizor's bulk to take a mixture of physical and special hits. The Speed EVs give just enough Speed to outspeed and use U-turn against Adamant Alolan Marowak to prevent being hit by STAB Fire Punch or Flare Blitz. Near-maximum Defense Mega Scizor has the perk of taking minimal damage from some of OU's biggest physical threats such as Zygarde while also having an easier time checking threats such as Mega Heracross after Close Combat. A balance of defenses is also approachable—124 Special Defense EVs allow Mega Scizor to take up to two Focus Blasts from Mega Alakazam if Stealth Rock is off of the field and either threaten it out with STAB Bullet Punch or U-turn. Maximum Defense Mega Scizor has the perk of taking minimal damage from some of OU's biggest physical threats while also having an easier time checking threats such as Mega Heracross after Close Combat. More Speed can be run at the cost of Special Defense; 56 Speed EVs allow Mega Scizor to outspeed Mega Mawile, while 148 EVs can be used to outspeed Adamant Tyranitar and Modest Magnezone. Remember that investing more into Speed means that Mega Scizor will U-turn before some of these Pokemon and, thus, the receiving Pokemon may take damage in the process of switching in.

Usage Tips
========

In general utilize Mega Scizor as a physically defensive pivot that can handle threats such as Zygarde effectively and provide a solid check to Tapu Bulu and Mamoswine. Scizor should aim to switch into resisted attacks, moves that it can comfortably avoid a 2HKO from, and predicted entry hazards from Pokemon such as Ferrothorn to ease Mega Evolving into Mega Scizor. Utilize Defog to remove hazards and screens from the field to assist Mega Scizor and its teammates in switching into threats and responding more easily. Mega Scizor's somewhat passive nature as a Defog user doesn't prevent opponents from continuously lay entry hazards on Mega Scizor's side of the field. To circumvent this, U-turn is used to switch in an offensive threat to prevent the opponent from laying more hazards freely or force the opponent to switch out. Roost and Defog are critical to keep Mega Scizor and its teammates healthy, but bear in mind that they drain momentum and can allow threats that are very difficult to switch into such as Volcarona and Heatran in much more easily. In the event that Volcarona is a potential switch-in against Mega Scizor, it is highly recommended to double switch to prevent Mega Scizor from being burned by Flame Body.

Team Options
========

Thanks to U-turn, Mega Scizor can help bring in offensive and defensive teammates against Pokemon that may otherwise continuously take advantage of Mega Scizor's passiveness. Greninja is one of the best teammates, as it can eliminate almost every entry hazard Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Toxapex, and Heatran with a variety of coverage moves. Zapdos is another great teammate that appreciates the removal of Stealth Rock to freely be able to use Heat Wave and Hidden Power Ice on the same set while handling some defensive threats such as Celesteela. Gengar may not share a lot of type synergy with Mega Scizor, but it appreciates the U-turn and Defog support to help keep Gengar healthy. In exchange, Gengar threaten teams with STAB Shadow Ball or some defensive Steel-types with Focus Blast, Thunderbolt, or Gigavolt Havoc. Since Volcarona and Charizard are drawn to Mega Scizor, various Choice Scarf users such as Keldeo and Terrakion are appreciated to help eliminate such threats. Though they can also fulfill the role of a Choice Scarf user, Garchomp and Latios can be great offensive partners that can threaten some of Mega Scizor's problematic Pokemon with their respective STAB moves and access to coverage moves that can bypass Ferrothorn and Heatran. Zygarde doesn't like to directly switch into Heatran often, as the risk of a burn from Lava Plume or Will-O-Wisp can be nasty; however, Zygarde can immediately threaten out Heatran with STAB Thousand Arrows while being able to make it difficult for some teams to properly switch into if it is wielding a Choice Band, setting up Dragon Dance, or hiding behind a Substitute. Other defensive partners such as Toxapex and Heatran can be great for Mega Scizor to have, as the former can deal with Mega Charizard Y, Greninja lacking Extrasensory, and Celesteela, while Heatran can cover Volcarona lacking Hidden Power Ground, Mega Charizard X lacking Earthquake, and many of the defensive Steel-types within the tier. Mega Scizor drawing in Fire-type attacks helps boost Heatran's Fire-type STAB moves thanks to Flash Fire. Rotom-W doesn't enjoy Toxic or Bloom Doom, but it can tackle many variations of Heatran and doesn't care about non-Toxic Toxapex while being able to pivot around with STAB Volt Switch or weaken offensive Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp and Hydro Pump.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Swords Dance with Roost makes Mega Scizor more intimidating offensively while still letting it perform as a defensive threat, but it is constantly plagued by many defensive answers and many offensive Pokemon that can set up alongside it. Mega Scizor's can also opt for a more offensive approach with Swords Dance by using Superpower and Bug Bite while maximizing its Attack and Speed with an Adamant nature. Counter gives Mega Scizor a more offensive approach to retaliate against Choice Band Zygarde and Garchomp lacking a Fire-type attack. Choice Band Scizor is rather unconventional most of the time; however, it does have some perks with a stronger STAB Bullet Punch, is capable of investing more into Speed for catching Magnezone by surprise with Superpower, and can threaten Pokemon fleeing from Scizor with Pursuit.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Mega Scizor allows Heatran, Charizard, Volcarona, and Alolan Marowak to switch in freely. All four of these Pokemon take advantage of Scizor with little fear. What's worse is Defog can remove Stealth Rock from the Fire-type Pokemon's side of the field, meaning that they may not always switch into Stealth Rock. Heatran can utilize Stealth Rock or its various Fire-type attacks to prevent Scizor from staying in safely. Charizard can become either Mega Charizard X and set up Dragon Dance or Mega Charizard Y and singe the team with Drought-boosted Fire-type attacks. Scizor should use U-turn right when Alolan Marowak switches in, as it is much harder for Scizor's team to defend against Shadow Bone, Fire Punch, or Flare Blitz. Finally, Volcarona has the added insult to injury of Flame Body to punish Scizor from freely using U-turn as a method of escape while setting up Quiver Dance with no real fear.

**Magnezone**: With Magnet Pull, Magnezone has its death glare on Mega Scizor, since U-turn is its only method to escape. Timid Magnezone can usually trap Mega Scizor after a revenge kill and easily dispose of it with Hidden Power Fire.

**Bulky Steel-types**: Celesteela and Skarmory fear nothing from Mega Scizor. Celesteela can use Flamethrower or Fire Blast on Mega Scizor, while Skarmory takes almost nothing from any of Scizor's attacks.

**Water-types**: The majority of Water-types only fear repeated U-turns if they do not resist the move and lack recovery. Toxapex, Quagsire, and Rotom-W punish Mega Scizor defensively. Toxapex and Quagsire can fish for Scald burns while not fearing a single attack that Scizor throws at them. Rotom-W does fear faster U-turns; however, Will-O-Wisp can cripple slower Mega Scizor. Offensive Water-types such as Gyarados, Choice Specs Keldeo, and Greninja can put Scizor into unfavorable positions as well. Gyarados takes advantage of Scizor's weak attacks and freely sets up Dragon Dance. Keldeo can switch into Scizor if it is pressured to do something other than Roost or U-turn while having Scald to potentially burn Scizor as well. Greninja can either OHKO with Hidden Power Fire or do a hefty amount of damage with Hydro Pump or Dark Pulse, though both Greninja formes cannot freely switch into Scizor, as U-turn will place a massive dent on them.

**Electric-types**: Zapdos, Mega Manectric, Tapu Koko, and both Thundurus formes can prove troublesome to Mega Scizor. Zapdos can freely switch into Mega Scizor and burn through it with Heat Wave while recovering any passive damage with Roost. Mega Manectric can switch into Mega Scizor a little more easily than some Electric-types thanks to Intimidate and having Overheat or Flamethrower. Tapu Koko does significant damage with STAB Thunderbolt under Electric Terrain and may also threaten Mega Scizor with Hidden Power Fire. Thundurus and Thundurus-T will proceed to set up against Mega Scizor and retaliate with STAB Thunderbolt.

Okay so basically I went through and at least got the... "skeleton" done...

...I mean book. <_< Fuck I did it again. To be fair Scizor is always one of those weird as fuck analyses. And no - this isn't an April Fool's joke.

I'll probably look over some more things later today but to explain going back to the original EVs:

- Even though Mega Zam is rare the tier does have some Special Attackers that Scizor can check if its healthy such as Scarf Gengar and Scarf Latios lacking HP Fire. Basically I always feel more comfortable if my Scizor has a diverse defensive spread.
- Personally I perfer Scizor to be slower. I definitely understand instances like max Speed Adamant Tyranitar and dodging Will-O-Wisp from Rotom-W, but I feel in most instances you prefer a slower U-turn. There are cases where you face Magnezone and sometimes it matters (think Assault Vest), but against most Timid has been the more consistent nature and requires Mega Scizor to invest in a lot of Speed.

I might fiddle around more with EV spreads on this again if people think it isn't optimal due to Mega Alakzam being rarer in the Pheromosa tier, but I'll leave that to QC + potential tour players. Ultimately, though, I personally prefer a more balanced spread with some Speed to keep Scizor on its toes against Marowak at worst case scenario (which I feel is more important for the second and third set, but it works okay on the first too).

In the future Ill keep the other skeletons much shorter.

QC Ready I think. Made some minor shifts in Checks and Counters while also adding Hidden Power Ice to Utility - Knock Off is appropriately in Moves.

[OVERVIEW]

* One of the strongest counters to Mega Metagross while being a solid check to threats such as defensive Landorus-T, Tapu Bulu, and Mamoswine thanks to typing, recovery, and solid bulk. Talk about its immense physical bulk in general that lets it blanket check a lot of physical threats? Seems weird to throw Mamo in there as well as talk about checking defensive Lando since it's a defensive threat and not an offensive one. You should be more concerned with breaking a defensive check instead of walling it like Scizor does.
* Great utility moves in Bullet Punch to check offensive threats, U-turn to maintain momentum, and Pursuit to trap opposing Metagross. Defog?
* Has to scout for Fire-type attacks from various Pokemon before safely checking threats such as Tapu Lele, Amoonguss, and Mega Alakazam. It also has to be very careful against Fire-types such as Heatran and Volcarona. I would not mention Amoonguss here. Very out of place with the other offensive threats listed and and not something you really try to defensive check so much as break. You can just substitute Latios in over Amoonguss since the HP Fire guessing game is really relevant to that 'mon.
* Though Scizor has the qualities to being an offensive Pokemon it struggles to bypass defensive threats. Toxapex, Celesteela, among other Pokemon completely stop Scizor from being able to sweep without a lot of support.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Defog lets Scizor clear hazards and screens.
* U-turn gives it momentum and lets it go to a mon that would otherwise punish Mega Scizor.
* Bullet Punch checks Gengar, Latios, and Nihilego. Bullet Punch doesn't really check Latios by itself. You're doing a decent chunk sure, but then what? You could die to Specs/LO HP Fire right after. Rephrase to "Bullet Punch pressures Gengar, Pheromosa, and Nihilego while also providing general utility in strong Steel-type priority."
* Roost keeps Scizor from being worn by Spikes and Stealth Rock while maintaining its durability. Mention that Roost also lets it repeatedly check things like Mega Metagross

Set Details
========

* 16 Speed EVs provide enough Speed to outrun max Speed Alolan Marowak. *Max Speed neutral-natured Marowak (i.e. Adamant Marowak). I'd also reorder this to talk about its main selling point (its massive bulk) before a minor speed creep.
* Near-maximum HP and Defensive EVs with an Impish nature allow Mega Scizor to continuously check Mega Metagross and other physical attackers.
* 124 Special Defense EVs allow Mega Scizor to survive two Focus Blasts from Mega Alakazam provided that Stealth Rock is off of the field. It also allows Mega Scizor to take various special attacks easier.
* The remaining EVs are placed into Defense with an Impish nature to minimize as much damage from Mega Metagross as possible.
* Speed EVs can be increased depending if you want Scizor to be faster. 56 Speed EVs will outspeed Adamant Mega Mawile as well. 148 Speed EVs allow Scizor to outspeed Adamant Tyranitar and Modest Magnezone. In the event that Scizor is running 148 Speed it is recommended to place the remaining bulk into Defense and retain the Impish nature. Bear in mind the higher Speed EVs may force Scizor's teammates to take a counterattack if Scizor opts to go for a faster U-turn.
* Scizor EVs should be customized to take on whichever threats are bigger for Scizor and its team.

Usage Tips
========

* Scizor should switch into resisted attacks or moves that it can comfortably survive while being at base Scizor followed by Mega Evolution. Rephrase "comfortably survive" to "comfortable avoid the 2HKO from"
* Defog is great to keep entry hazards and screens off of the field. Bear in mind that Defog clears your entry hazards while also sacking momentum. "Sacking" to "sacrificing"
* U-turn is critical because it prevents Scizor from being a complete momentum drain. U-turn allows Scizor to punish opposing hazard setters that choose to stay in and continue to set up on Scizor. It also prevents Pokemon such as Charizard and Heatran from freely switching into Scizor.
* Scizor's lack of Leftovers and vulnerability to Spikes does make it prone to being worn down passively, so using Roost is sometimes more mandatory than removing hazards or keeping momentum.
* In the event of facing Volcarona it is best to double switch as Flame Body can trigger off of U-turn.

Team Options
========

* Ultimately Scizor wants Pokemon that can abuse entry hazard setters or powerful offensive Pokemon that benefit from U-turn.
* Greninja can easily punish the majority of Pokemon that lay entry hazards with a variety of attacks. Hidden Power Fire handles Ferrothorn, Hydro Pump drowns Heatran and Landorus-T, and Extrasensory cleans Toxapex's clock.
* Toxapex is a great teammate as it can harass Mega Charizard Y and beat non-Thunder Punch variants of Mega Charizard X. It's a great answer to Spike variants of Greninja and can assist Scizor's team with Scald burning switch-ins, Haze preventing opponents from boosting through Scizor's team, or Toxic Spikes to limit bulkier threats such as Zygarde.
* Assuming opposing Heatran's Bloom Doom is absent Rotom-W can make a great pivot core with Mega Scizor while also weakening physically offensive Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp. I'd talk about the plain type synergy between the two
* Gengar is a great teammate that benefits from the removal of Stealth Rock and Spikes while punishing the vast majority of entry hazard setters with STAB Shadow Ball or Focus Blast.
* Heatran or Zapdos can put a lot of pressure on Ferrothorn and Celesteela. Heatran can assist with Stealth Rock while Zapdos applies a lot of pressure with the freedom to run Hidden Power Ice and Heat Wave on the same moveset.
* Zygarde and Garchomp are the best options for Scizor to U-turn into in the scenario where Heatran switches in. Both usually can outspeed Heatran and KO with their STAB Ground-type attacks.
* Due to Volcarona and Mega Charizard X having the capability to set up on Scizor a Choice Scarf Pokemon can be beneficial to have. Keldeo, Garchomp, or Terrakion all can help with outspeeding and KOing these mons without too many issues. I wouldn't mention Keldeo first because it's the most awkward Scarf check to Volcarona given Edge's shaky accuracy and the general weakness of Keldeo's Stone Edge (Terrakion's Edge is stronger and can also just use Slide). Keldeo also cannot reliably OHKO Zard-X with a Scarf. I'd reorder to Garchomp, Terrakion, and Keldeo, but mention that Keldeo needs prior damage on Zard-X to RK.

Moves
========

* Pursuit gives Scizor an opportunity to trap Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Mega Metagross, Gengar, and Latios not locked into Hidden Power Fire. not locked into → lacking
* Hidden Power Ice may seem odd on this set; however, it is a great move to answer to Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Garchomp lacking a Fire-type attack. and is crucial to Scizor checking Zygarde variants
* U-turn gives Scizor and its team momentum. It's highly recommended to be used on predicted switch-ins such as Heatran, Charizard, and Volcarona. you said to avoid U-turning on Volc in the last set, so I'd just replace Volcarona with Celesteela or something
* Bullet Punch helps Scizor safely trap or revenge kill Gengar, Latios, or Nihilego. See my earlier bit on Latios
* Roost keeps Mega Scizor healthy enough to continue with its utilitarian role.
* Knock Off trades Mega Scizor's capability of Pursuit-trapping to remove items such as Toxapex's Black Sludge, Zapdos's Leftovers, or Alolan Marowak's Thick Club. It also can be used to scout for Z Crystals.

Set Details
========

* Near max HP and 124 Special Defense EVs allow Mega Scizor to switch into Mega Alakazam Focus Blast twice and retaliate with Bullet Punch or trap it with Pursuit. It also makes Scizor bulkier to take special attacks such as non-Choice Specs Tapu Lele Moonblast or Shadow Ball from Gengar. Talk about physical bulk first
* 16 Speed EVs allow Mega Scizor to outspeed max Speed Adamant Alolan Marowak.
* The remaining Defense EVs and an Impish nature give Mega Scizor breathing room to safely Pursuit trap Mega Metagross. Move this to the first bullet and mention how it lets it blanket check a lot of physical attackers
* 148 Speed EVs can outspeed Modest Magnezone and Adamant Tyranitar.
* 100 Attack EVs and an Adamant nature guarantee Life Orb Latios to be OHKOed by Pursuit. This is assuming that Stealth Rock is a factor on the field. This is not recommended, though, as Mega Scizor needs as much bulk as possible to keep itself healthy from a variety of Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

* With Pursuit utilize Scizor as a trapper. Scout to see if the opponent is using any Pokemon with a Choice item such as Tapu Lele, Gengar, and Latios. On the other hand you can freely use Pursuit to trap Mega Metagross and catch Pokemon attempting to U-turn or Volt Switch out. Mention that neutral Pursuit is really weak and often not worth it just for predicted switches out for anything hit neutrally by Pursuit
* When running Hidden Power Ice Scizor can be used as a check to various Ground-types that are very weak to Ice. In general, still bear in mind to scout for Fire-type moves on Garchomp.
* If running Knock Off treat Scizor as a means to remove items from various Pokemon while scouting for Z Crystals on various Pokemon. The information provided by Knock Off is invaluable for finding out specific Heatran sets while also weakening the power or Speed of Choice users. Removal of Leftovers and Black Sludge make it easier to handle Celesteela and Toxapex.
* Use U-turn for momentum or when potentially dangerous Pokemon are attempting to switch in to take advantage of Scizor. In the event of a potential Volcarona switch-in a double switch is highly recommended.
* Using Roost can be a momentum drain and, at times, may put Scizor and its team in danger. Use Roost when Scizor needs the health to safely check certain threats or to prevent Mega Metagross from overwhelming Scizor.

Team Options
========

* Scizor's passiveness can be taken advantage of by opposing Pokemon. Thus, it is recommended to use teammates that can either support Scizor defensively or offensively.
* Gengar or Tapu Lele are great teammates that appreciates U-turn momentum as well as the support that Knock Off and Pursuit offer. The removal of Leftovers from Celesteela makes it easier for Choice Specs sets to overwhelm it while Pursuit makes Mega Metagross less of a burden.
* Greninja and Keldeo can take advantage of Charizard, Heatran, and Volcarona switch-ins provided they come in on a double switch or with U-turn. Greninja has an added bonus of being able to punish many Pokemon missing their recovery item while Keldeo appreciates Choice Scarf Latios and Choice Scarf Gengar being checked by Pursuit Scizor.
* Toxapex, Heatran, and Zapdos are decent defensive options to handle various Pokemon that may switch into Scizor to attempt to take advantage of it.
* Zygarde, Garchomp, and Latios all appreciate the momentum from U-turn while being able to check Mega Metagross. Zygarde and Garchomp appreciate the defensive Landorus-T switch-in while Latios appreciates the potential removal of Gengar and opposing Latios.

Moves
========

* Swords Dance boosts Scizor's Attack to make it a Pokemon with offensive and defensive presence. I'd specifically use the phrase "defensive sweeper"
* Bullet Punch, after a Swords Dance, is the primary move of choice to hit faster threats such as Gengar and Latios.
* U-turn is a useful move to give momentum while also appreciating a Swords Dance boost when used on Mega Metagross.
* Roost keeps Scizor in tip-top shape and lets Scizor possibly obtain additional Swords Dances. Roost is especially useful vs. defensive Landorus lacking Swords Dance

Set Details
========

* 248 HP with 124 SpD EVs allow Scizor to survive two Focus Blasts from Mega Alakazam while providing extra bulk against special attackers lacking Fire-type attacks.
* 16 Speed EVs outspeed Adamant Alolan Marowak.
* 120 Def EVs with an Impish nature let Mega Scizor set up Swords Dance on Mega Metagross safely and either force it out or punish it.
* 148 Speed EVs can be used to outspeed Adamant Tyranitar and minimum Speed Rotom-W. This prevents the latter from being able to Will-O-Wisp and burn Scizor.

Usage Tips
========

* This set compresses the role of a bulkier Pokemon that can check various threats while being able to provide some offensive presence if left unanswered. Thus, don't rely on Scizor to sweep lategame even with Swords Dance in its repertoire. Because of the plethora of things that stop Scizor sweeps cold (Toxapex, Celesteela, Specs Lele, etc.)
* Scizor should only Swords Dance in the event that nothing that switches into Scizor is immediately threatening or will likely be slower than it. In most cases it is best to use U-turn for momentum, Roost to recover health, or Bullet Punch weakened threats.
* Using Roost is important to help obtain more boosts with Swords Dance to help place more offensive pressure. This should also be used to help check threats defensively without risking a fatal critical hit as well.
* Double switch whenever a Volcarona is still alive on the opponent's team as Flame Body is a major risk for this set. In the event of Heatran, Charizard, and Magnezone it is highly recommended to U-turn to prevent being taken advantage of or worse - trapped.

Team Options
========

* Greninja is a reliable teammate as it can either offensively bypass threats such as Toxapex with Extrasensory or utilize Spikes to wear down grounded Pokemon that may otherwise be a problem for Scizor to offensively push through lategame if necessary.
* Stealth Rock is crucial to keeping offensive Pokemon from stopping Swords Dance Scizor. Heatran and Rockium Landorus-T are great Pokemon that provide offensive pressure against bulkier Pokemon that may stop Scizor.
* Zygarde and Garchomp are also great Pokemon that take care of a lot of problematic Pokemon for Scizor. Zygarde's Choice Band Thousand Arrows limits Celesteela, Zapdos, and Skarmory switch-ins while Life Orb Fire Blast or Inferno Overdrive Garchomp can incinerate through just about anything.
* Choice Scarf users are critical to keeping Pokemon that otherwise resist Bullet Punch in check. Latios is a great partner that can still check Volcarona and Keldeo with STAB Psyshock. With Trick it can cripple Celesteela to help make Scizor's life a little easier.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Counter gives Mega Scizor a response to Mega Metagross who might attempt to fish for Meteor Mash Attack raises. It's also a decent move to counterattack Choice Band Zygarde and Garchomp lacking a Fire-type attack.
* Offensive Swords Dance suffers a lot of problems with needing too much support with too little reward. This set would use Bullet Punch, Superpower, and Bug Bite. Talk about the EV changes too
* Scizor can Baton Pass Agility, Swords Dance, and Iron Defense; however, the role is often done better by Scolipede and Mew.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Almost every Scizor set allows Heatran, Charizard, Volcarona, and Alolan Marowak to switch in freely. All three of these Pokemon take advantage of Scizor without any fear with the exception of Knock Off for Volcarona and Heatran's Leftovers or scouting out Z Crystal Heatran. What's worse is Defog can remove Stealth Rock from the Fire-type Pokemon's side of the field - meaning that they may not always switch into Stealth Rock. Heatran can utilize Stealth Rock or its various Fire-type attacks to force Scizor from staying in safely, Charizard can either become Mega Charizard X and set up Dragon Dance or Mega Charizard Y and singe the team with Drought-boosted Fire-type attacks. Finally, Volcarona has the added insult to injury of Flame Body to punish Scizor from freely using U-turn as a method of escape while setting up Quiver Dance with no real fear. Alolan Marowak is a case where Scizor should U-turn right when Alolan Marowak switches in as it is much harder for Scizor's team to defend against Shadow Bone, Fire Punch, or Flare Blitz.

**Magnezone**: With Magnet Pull Magnezone has its death glare on Scizor since U-turn is Scizor's only method to escape. Timid Magnezone can usually trap Scizor on the revenge kill and easily dispose of Scizor with Hidden Power Fire.

**Bulky Steel-types**: Celesteela and Skarmory both fear very little from Scizor outside of Knock Off. Celestela can use Flamethrower or Fire Blast on Scizor while Skarmory takes nothing from any of Scizor's attacks.

**Water-types**: The majority of Water-types only fear Swords Dance boosted U-turns or repeated U-turns if they do not resist the move and lack recovery. Toxapex, Quagsire, and Rotom-W punish Scizor defensively. Toxapex and Quagsire can fish for Scald burns while not fearing a single attack that Scizor throws at them. Rotom-W does fear faster U-turns and Swords Dance boosted U-turns; however, Will-O-Wisp can cripple slower Scizors. Offensive Water-types such as Gyarados, Keldeo, and Greninja can put Scizor into unfavorable positions as well. Gyarados takes advantage of Scizor's weak attacks and freely sets up Dragon Dance. Keldeo can switch into Scizor if it is pressured to do something other than Roost or U-turn while having Scald to potentially burn Scizor as well, though beware Knock Off as it may remove Keldeo's Choice Scarf or Choice Specs. I'd mention that Keldeo needs to be Specs to outright threaten Scizor, namely SD Scizor Greninja can either OHKO with Hidden Power Fire or do a hefty amount of damage with Hydro Pump or Dark Pulse, though both variants of Greninja cannot freely switch into Scizor as U-turn will place a massive dent on them.

**Electric-types**: Zapdos and both variants of Thundurus can prove troublesome to Scizor. Thundurus and Thundurus-T will proceed to set up against Scizor and retaliate with boosted Thunderbolts or, worse, Gigavolt Havoc. Zapdos can freely switch into any Scizor set and burn through Scizor with Heat Wave. Though Tapu Koko must be aware of boosted Bullet Punches it can do a hefty amount to Scizor with Electric Terrain Thunderbolts or Hidden Power Fire.

Yeah basically what he covered (so that I have it here in text form):

- Technician HP Ice = Ice Beam. Just mention that.
- Re-phrase Bullet Punch and Fire-types C&C.
- Mention Zygarde since it does check Choice Band and kind of regular DD Zygarde (if it isn't Groundium).
- Make it shorter because oh my God what the fuck is the length of this thing!?!

Where's fast scizor? Fast Scizor to outrun and U-turn on Magnezone is quite common (Since Scarf Zone is godawful), being prominently featured in several RMTs such as KratosMana 's Under the Rainbow (which, to be fair, is outdated for the current meta with Medicham and no Metagross) and deserves far more of a mention than HP Ice Scizor, which hasn't even been brought seriously to a single major tournament game.

Faster Scizors are already mentioned. Nevermind that many Specs and Sub Magnezones can run Timid...

Anyway, Mega Metagross mentions have been removed. I'm a little hesitant on adding anything like Mega Heracross - Mega Scizor is an okay check to Heracross that constantly use Close Combat, but Heracross doesn't really fear a lot from Mega Scizor outside of just being bulky and having to use Swords Dance CC to break through. I at least made a small mention of it in the Overview, but I don't want to overhype Scizor since nowadays it's used more as a defensive utility Pokemon more than anything.

We talked on Discord. Basically, I would merge the two sets for redundancies sake and expand on running max max hp/def and it's merits.

Otherwise QC 3/3. Great work as usual.

Cool stuff.

I went and reviewed things a bit. Might peep in and check this a little more thoroughly for GP but at least attempted to clean some things up.

On to GP we go.

[OVERVIEW]

An excellent defensive typing, great durability, and access to Roost makes Mega Scizor the defensive Mega Pokemon of choice for teams that need checks for Gengar, Mamoswine, and Tapu Bulu. Scizor has an array of utility options at its disposal,(AC) with some of them boosted thanks to its Technician ability:(colon) -(RH) Bullet Punch to checks threats such as Nihilego and Kyurem-B, U-turn to provides momentum for the team and preventing prevents Mega Scizor from being set up on by more dangerous threats, and Defog to clears out entry hazards. Unfortunately, being one of the best Mega Evolutions comes at a price,(AC) as many Pokemon will carry Hidden Power Fire just to deter Mega Scizor from switching in freely. Furthermore, Fire-types such as Heatran, Charizard, and Volcarona are major nuisances,(AC) as Mega Scizor allows them to switch in almost freely if it isn't using U-turn or double switching out. (I would add something like "Regardless" or "Despite this" to make it flow better) Mega Scizor is a great Pokemon to have for teams looking for solid defensive qualities in a Pokemon with a solid utility movepool to assist its teammates.

Moves
========

Defog's main purpose is to clear entry hazards for Mega Scizor and its teammates. Though less commonly seen, it can clear Reflect, Light Screen, and Aurora Veil as well. U-turn is important,(AC) as it prevents Mega Scizor from being too passive against opposing Pokemon. Unfortunately, Mega Scizor does not necessarily halt opposing hazard setters from continuously setting up after Mega Scizor uses Defog, but U-turn helps Mega Scizor punish those Pokemon by responding with dangerous threats such as Greninja or Zapdos. Bullet Punch assists taking down faster offensive threats such as Gengar, Tapu Bulu, and Nihilego. Roost is necessary for Mega Scizor to keep itself healthy,(AC) as it is often forced to switch onto entry hazards to remove them with Defog.

In the event that Defog is not necessary on Mega Scizor, Pursuit and Hidden Power Ice are two viable attacks that can be used instead. Pursuit traps Gengar, Choice-(AH)locked Tapu Lele, and Mega Alakazam without Hidden Power Fire. Hidden Power Ice becomes 90 Base Power with Technician,(AC) which is useful for hitting Landorus-T, Zygarde, and Garchomp lacking a Fire-type attack.

Set Details
========

Near-maximum HP is necessary to help bolster Mega Scizor's bulk to take on a mixture of physical and special hits. The Speed EVs give just enough Speed to outspeed and use U-turn against from Adamant Alolan-(RH)Marowak to prevent being hit by STAB Fire Punch or STAB Flare Blitz. 124 Special Defense EVs allow Mega Scizor to take up to two Focus Blasts from Mega Alakazam if Stealth Rock is off of the field and either threaten it out with STAB Bullet Punch or U-turn. The remaining EVs are placed into Defense with an Impish nature to help Mega Scizor tackle Mamoswine, Tapu Bulu, and Choice Band Zygarde easier. In the event that Mega Scizor is needed to tank physical hits more than special hits,(AC) a maximum investment in Defense at the cost of Special Defense is an optimal choice. Maximum Defense Mega Scizor has the perk of taking minimal damage from some of OU's biggest physical threats while also having an easier time checking threats such as Mega Heracross after Close Combat. More Speed can be run at the cost of Special Defense;(SC) -(RH) 56 Speed EVs allow Mega Scizor to outspeed outspeeds (The EVs don't outspeed Pokemon) Mega Mawile,(AC) while 148 EVs can be used to outspeed Adamant Tyranitar and Modest Magnezone. Remember that investing more into Speed means that Mega Scizor will U-turn before some of these Pokemon and, thus, the receiving Pokemon may take damage in the process of switching in.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Scizor should aim to switch into resisted attacks, moves that it can comfortably avoid a 2HKO from, or when the opponent is likely to lay entry hazards on the same turn such as Ferrothorn to ease Mega Evolving into Mega Scizor. Utilize Defog to remove hazards and screens from the field to assist Mega Scizor and its teammates to switch in switching into threats and responding easier. Mega Scizor's somewhat passive presence as a Defog user doesn't prevent opponents from continuously lay entry hazards on Mega Scizor's side of the field. To circumvent this,(AC) U-turn is used to switch in an offensive threat to prevent the opponent from laying more hazards freely or force the opponent to switch out. Roost and Defog are critical to keep Mega Scizor and its teammates healthy, but bear in mind that they drain momentum and can allow very difficult threats to switch into in such as Volcarona or and Heatran in much easier. In the event that Volcarona is a potential switch-in against Mega Scizor,(AC) it is highly recommended to double switch to prevent Mega Scizor from being burned by Flame Body.

Team Options
========

Thanks to U-turn,(AC) Mega Scizor can help switch bring in offensive and defensive teammates against Pokemon that may otherwise continuously take advantage of Mega Scizor's passiveness. Greninja is one of the best teammates,(AC) as it can eliminate almost every entry hazard Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Toxapex, and Heatran with a variety of coverage moves. Zapdos is another great teammate that appreciates the removal of Stealth Rock to give freedom to use Heat Wave and Hidden Power Ice on the same set while handling some of the defensive threats such as Celesteela. Gengar may not share a lot of typing type synergy, but it appreciates the U-turn and Defog support to help keep Gengar healthy. In exchange,(AC) Gengar threaten teams with STAB Shadow Ball or some defensive Steel-types with Focus Blast, Thunderbolt, or Gigavolt Havoc. Since Volcarona and Charizard are drawn to Mega Scizor,(AC) like moths to a flame various Choice Scarf users such as Keldeo and Terrakion are appreciated to help eliminate such threats. Though they can also fulfill the role of a Choice Scarf user,(AC) Garchomp and Latios can be great offensive partners that can threaten some of Mega Scizor's problematic Pokemon with their respective STABs STAB moves and access to coverage moves that can bypass Ferrothorn and Heatran. Zygarde doesn't like to directly switch into Heatran often,(AC) as the risk of a burn from Lava Plume or Will-O-Wisp can be nasty; however, Zygarde can immediately threaten out Heatran with STAB Thousand Arrows while being able to make it difficult for some teams to properly switch into if it is wielding a Choice Band, setting up Dragon Dance, or behind a Substitute. Other defensive partners such as Toxapex and Heatran can be great for Mega Scizor to have,(AC) as the former can harass deal with Mega Charizard Y, Greninja lacking Extrasensory, and Celesteela,(AC) while Heatran can cover Volcarona lacking Hidden Power Ground, Mega Charizard X lacking Earthquake, and many of the defensive Steel-types within the tier. Mega Scizor drawing in Fire-type attacks helps boost Heatran's Fire-type STABs STAB moves thanks to Flash Fire.

Other Options
=============

Swords Dance with Roost makes Mega Scizor more intimidating offensively while being a defensive threat, but it is constantly plagued by many defensive answers and many offensive Pokemon that can set up alongside it. It Mega Scizor's can also opt for a more offensive approach with Swords Dance by using Superpower and Bug Bite while maximizing Mega Scizor's its Attack and Speed with an Adamant nature. Counter gives Mega Scizor a more offensive approach to counterattack Choice Band Zygarde and Garchomp lacking a Fire-type attack.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Mega Scizor allows Heatran, Charizard, Volcarona, and Alolan Marowak to switch in freely. All four of these Pokemon take advantage of Scizor with little fear. What's worse is Defog can remove Stealth Rock from the Fire-type Pokemon's side of the field,(AC) -(RH) meaning that they may not always switch into Stealth Rock. Heatran can utilize Stealth Rock or its various Fire-type attacks to force Scizor from staying in safely,(RC).(period) Charizard can either become Mega Charizard X and set up Dragon Dance or Mega Charizard Y and singe the team with Drought-boosted Fire-type attacks. Alolan Marowak is a case where Scizor should use U-turn right when Alolan Marowak switches in,(AC) as it is much harder for Scizor's team to defend against Shadow Bone, Fire Punch, or Flare Blitz. Finally, Volcarona has the added insult to injury of Flame Body to punish Scizor from freely using U-turn as a method of escape while setting up Quiver Dance with no real fear.

**Magnezone**: With Magnet Pull,(AC) Magnezone has its death glare on (reword) Mega Scizor,(AC) since U-turn is Scizor's its only method to escape. Timid Magnezone can usually trap Mega Scizor on the after a revenge kill and easily dispose of Scizor it with Hidden Power Fire.

**Bulky Steel-types**: Celesteela and Skarmory fear nothing from Mega Scizor. Celestela can use Flamethrower or Fire Blast on Mega Scizor,(AC) while Skarmory takes almost nothing from any of Scizor's attacks.

Rotom-W does fear faster U-turns; however, Will-O-Wisp can cripple slower Mega Scizors Scizor. Greninja can either OHKO with Hidden Power Fire or do a hefty amount of damage with Hydro Pump or Dark Pulse, though both variants of Greninja formes (formes = different forms of same Pokemon (Landorus + Landorus-T); variants = different sets (Specs, scarf, defensive, etc.) ) cannot freely switch into Scizor,(AC) as U-turn will place a massive dent on them.

**Electric-types**: Zapdos, Mega Manectric, Tapu Koko, and both variants of Thundurus formes can prove troublesome to Mega Scizor. Zapdos can freely switch into Mega Scizor and burn through it with Heat Wave while recovering any passive damage with Roost. Mega Manetctric can switch into Mega Scizor a little easier than some Electric-types thanks to Intimidate and having Overheat or Flamethrower.

In general capitalize utilize (don't think capitalize really fits here + the nuance you'd want to convey with it is already found in "in general" as far as I can tell) Mega Scizor as a physically defensive pivot that can handle threats such as Zygarde effectively while also being and provide a solid check to Tapu Bulu and Mamoswine.
