Anyone with with a brain (or even eyes) can tell you Smogon's tiering philosophy is pretty agnostic to raw power creep. Statistically Baxcalibur doesn't look like any better of a sweeper than Haxorus. The obvious difference between the two is the functional tools available to us in Gen 9...

    Metagame Views From The Council

The only reasonable solutions are to either A) ban darkrai or B) ban sleep entirely. banning hypnosis and sleep powder don't pass the smell test of reasonable tiering action.

don't really feel like writing something long but i strongly disagree with lily's sentiment that the addition of defog corv and weezing wouldn't be massive differences in terms of alleviating the stress of hazards on the metagame, or that they, especially corviknight with ID, are incredibly...

Ice beam clef has been a staple for multiple generations. Ghold definitely suppresses clef in general as it can't really hinder it with any of it's utility moves and the opportunity cost of constantly letting in a hard hitting setup mon freely is extremely high.

Gliscor can definitely be annoying and unfun but I really think it would be a poor tiering choice to target it first. If hazards are the biggest issue, while Gliscor is the best spiker, it's also a hazard resistant mon that you don't have to run boots on, and can force progress with sd and...

Announcement np: SV OU Suspect Process, Round 7 - Fly Me to the Moon [ Council announcement Post #2 ]

It's hard to argue Roaring Moon is broken when the litmus test we've decided to use Kingambit not being broken, and I think for the most part Kingambit is still a much stronger mon in general than Roaring Moon. However, Finch did make some really good points re: the meta being better than ever...

That's just the nature of staggered releases like Home, DLC etc. that come with modern games. Making adjustments to the metagame via the community with suspect tests is literally what makes the game sustainable.

Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v3

gliscor contributes towards funneling gameplay towards an unideal route but I've hard time believing it's actually suspect worth. While it's the best hazard setter atm, it's also pretty much the only hazard resistant mon outside of corv, and with the ubiquity of knock off now I'm not sure...

Announcement np: SV OU Suspect Process, Round 6 - The Killing Moon

It has nothing to do with whether you're 1700s or 1900s, you can't just can extrapolate it's high ladder success based on just your own games, especially if you're using structures/certain mons that are overcompensating for the fact that the bear is so oppressive in the builder and centralizing...

Announcement np: SV OU Suspect Process, Round 6 - The Killing Moon

it probably has what, ~50% usage so far in SCL week 1? That's pretty insane. Also like 99% of high ladder games (actually high ladder games, not 1700) are hidden so I doubt your anecdotal opinion on what it's doing on high ladder is even something resembling accurate. Also no pokemon, no matter...

Announcement np: SV OU Suspect Process, Round 6 - The Killing Moon

You had ID Corv and ID Zama that were great checks to pretty much all gambits and helped with other mons like baxc, dnite etc. Moltres handled most gambits, prevented it from attacking raw, could check with both attacking and status. It also had a great role checking various threats like...

Announcement np: SV OU Suspect Process, Round 6 - The Killing Moon

this is a mon with insane bulk, recovery, the ideal setup move for its archetype, and nearly unresisted stab coverage. this isn't something where counterplay is just gonna randomly pop up through exploring the metagame, it literally forces you to use awful sets that aren't applicable to the rest...

Announcement np: SV OU Suspect Process, Round 6 - The Killing Moon

Well when half of your arguments are listing random mons that have super effective moves against ground types as checks to BM, is it really cringe elo shaming or is validly pointing out that based on how you've formatted your arguments you don't know what you're talking about and you probably...

Announcement np: SV OU Suspect Process, Round 6 - The Killing Moon

I can barely even tell what you're describing here but this roundabout switching nonsense doesn't work vs any competent player. Hurricane doesn't even come close to killing bulky BM and you're likely getting zapdos in with it having +1 spdef. 0 SpA Zapdos Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 132 SpD...

Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v3

There's so much wrong with this line of thinking idk where to start. I guess to start, BM Ursalana doesn't need an immunity to setup, it has very good bulk. The only things in OU with more raw physical bulk than BM are Great Tusk, Ting Lu, and Garganacl. Balloon has never been serviceable...

Re:Light Clay, Screens and Veil: While Ninetales does push them into much stronger viability than other setters like Abomasnow, Dragapult, or Grimmsnarl, at what point is the strategy just uncompetitive and stupid regardless of viability, especially in tera metagame? Past generations have...
