Flying Blind

Intro:
With the advent of Gen 5 came one of the largest, yet subtle shifts in battling was the Team Preview. Unlike previous generations, each trainer now came into battle knowing all 6 of their opponent's Pokemon. The effects of this has been debated, with some people claiming it made certain strategies (such as trapping and/or lures) easier, while others arguing it ruined the surprise factor. Regardless, there has not been a real consensus about the true effects of team preview, or lack thereof, and this tournament aims to explore this. Will not being able to see your opponent's Pokemon before the battle begins have a tangible effect on strategies, or will it just be a small stepping stone?

Tournament Rules
Battles are to be done on Pokemon Showdown, with both players using BW2 OU Teams, but challenging each other to a Custom Game (No Team Preview). Any players not using a LEGAL BW2 OU team will be kicked from the tournament. If both players agree, they can use Pokemon Online, disabling the Wi-Fi Clause.

Other standard tournament rules will be in effect - most notably the Timeout and Disconnect Clause and Rule Breaking. However, anyone found to be using an illegal team will immediately be excluded from the tournament, and their current opponent will receive a win.

Battle Rules
  • Custom Game (No Team Preview) will be utilized
  • All Pokemon in the BW2 OU tier and below are allowed
  • This tourney will be a Best of Three match
  • OHKO Clause
  • Sleep Clause
  • Species Clause
  • Ubers Clause
  • Moody Clause
Signups
The hard cap of players will be 128, but if there is not enough interest to fill that many slots, then a 64 or 96 player bracket will be utilized. The standard 62.5%/37.5% selection rule will be used.
