Overview

• Ferrothorn is a decent defensive threat thanks to his mixed defenses and very good Grass / Steel typing
• Its type gives it a set of resistances, coupled to its high bulk, it allows Ferrothorn to check threats such as Primal-Kyogre, Xerneas, Arceus-Fairy or Arceus-Rock
• It has access to a plenty of good Support moves such as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Leech Seed, makes it a decent choice in any bulky team
• But its typing gives it common weaknesses such as Fighting and double Fire weakness, which makes Ferrothorn threaten by Mega Rayquaza V-Create, Primal-Groudon and offensive threats that run Focus Blast or Fire Blast as coverage move
• Ferrothorn has a good Defense stat, but without investement it can't take powerful Physical Wallbreakers such as Mega Rayquaza and Arceus-Ghost
• Suffers of the presence of other Steel-types such as Arceus-Steel, Magearna and Celesteela, which gives better features, such as being a powerful wincon or a check to common threats, making it often prefered over Ferrothorn despite its qualities

Moves

• Leech Seed gives Ferrothorn a way to stay healty and does chip damage to opponent, as it lacks reliable recovery
• Protect allows Ferrothorn, in tandem with Leech Seed, to scout opponent next move and even more recovery
• Gyro Ball is used to give Ferrothorn a way to do damage and not being a setup bait for threats such as Xerneas
• Power Whip is an other way to deal damage and hits better Primal-Kyogre and Primal-Groudon mostly, but it won't help to beat Fairy-types and it's a bit weaker than Gyro Ball
• Ferrothorn can run Stealth Rock if your team lacks a user of it, it can set it on its free turns to cripple switch-ins and do chip damage
• Spikes is an alternative to Stealth Rock if you already have a user in your team

Set Details

• Leftovers gives passive recovery to Ferrothorn
• Iron Barbs is Ferrothorn's best ability and does chip damage to physical threats
• EVs and Sassy nature maximize special bulk and allows Ferrothorn to check Primal-Kyogre, Xerneas and Support Arceus varients
• 0 Speed IVs and negative nature makes Ferrothorn slower as possible to do more damage with Gyro Ball

Usage Tips

• Ferrothorn can switch-in on Pokémon such as Support Arceus or Primal-Kyogre thanks to its defensive typing and set either Stealth Rock or Spikes
• Leech Seed is very spammable in a meta that lacks Grass-types, it guarantees passive recovery for Ferrothorn and wear down opposite Pokemon
• Protect helps to scout opponent's Fire-type attacks and Focus Blast to keep Ferrothorn safe and avoid getting wear down by those, it should be also used cautiously, as it can give to Setup Sweepers such as Mega-Rayquaza a free turn to set up
• Ferrothorn can be switched-in safely against most Arceus Support variant, and help to check Calm mind varients with Leech Seed chip, but it can't do anything against Arceus-Steel
• Gyro Ball should be used carefully due to low PPs
• Avoid switch-ing in Ferrothorn too many times if not recovered or if opponent has set hazard to keep Ferrothorn healthy to check threats such as Primal-Kyogre
• Ferrothorn can be used as Status Absorber, it can switch on common Status users such as Lugia, Support Arceus or Zygarde-C since it's immune to Toxic and don't care of paralysis, burn is a bit annoying since it cancels Leftovers and makes Ferrothorn not able to deal huge damages with its STAB, but any Fire-type teammate such as Primal-Groudon or Ho-Oh can deal with Will-o-Wisp

Team Options

• Arceus-Water fits well with Ferrothorn by helping check Primal-Groudon, Ho-Oh and Zygarde-C
• Ho-Oh forms a solid core with Ferrothorn, as they don't share a weakness and can check a lot of offense threats such as Xerneas, Mega Lucario, Arceus-Steel, Primal-Kyogre and Mega Gengar, Ho-Oh can spread burn with Sacred Burn which helps Ferrothorn to check Physical Attackers and Ferrothorn can switch-in on Toxic
• Primal-Groudon appreciates the Stealth Rock support, it frees a moveslot for Primal-Groudon, allows it to run more offensive sets such as Double Dance, it also profits from Spikes and can easily OKHO/2HKO things with the chip damage
• Mega-Rayquaza checks such as Arceus-Fairy or Arceus-Rock fit very well with Ferrothorn, since Ferrothorn isn't a decent check to Mega-Rayquaza
• Yveltal and Ferrothorn is a good core, both don't share a weakness, Ferrothorn can check Fairy-types and fat things that wall Yveltal, while Yveltal can deal with Primal-Groudon, Arceus-Ghost and Mewtwo and profits from hazard stack
• Zygarde-C is a good teammate for Ferrothorn, good synergy between Physical Wall and Special Wall, each one checks the other's threats, Zygarde-C checks Fire-types, Mega Lucario and Swords Dance Arceus for Ferrothorn, this last one can check Fairy-types and Primal-Kyogre for Zygarde-C, Ferrothorn can set hazard and Zygarde-C can phase with Dragon Tail
• Offensive Threats such as Mega Rayquaza or Deoxys-Attack can sweep easily thanks to Ferrothorn's hazards

Strategy Comments

Other Options

• Toxic is a decent option on Ferrothorn, since it can cripple even more switch-ins and Setup sweepers and fits well with Leech Seed
• Chople Berry can be used to no worry about Focus Blast and check Geomancy Xerneas at +2, but lacking passive recovery makes it rarely choosed over Leftovers
• Thunder Wave is also an option that can be run if your team lacks Speed Control, as it annoys fast Sweepers such as Mewtwo, Mega Gengar and Deoxys-Attack
• Knock Off isn't a common option, but it can cripple some sweepers that run Choice Band, Life Orb or Lum Berry by knocking it off (not sure about this one btw, i might be wrong here)

Checks and Counters

**Fire-types**: Ho-Oh can switch on Ferrothorn safely and forces it out, Primal-Groudon can also easily switch-on, and set Stealth Rock or Swords Dance / Rock Polish while Ferrothorn switch-out, but Ferrothorn can wear down Primal Groudon slowly with Leech Seed chip

**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Yveltal, Mewtwo or Deoxys-Speed can shut down Ferrothorn, making it not able to set Spikes or Leech Seed and scout moves, it can do damage back with Gyro Ball but it will rarely stay on those and switch-out

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Strong Attackers such as Mega Rayquaza or Arceus-Ghost can easily break through Ferrothorn with strong physical attacks.

**Mega Sableye**: Thanks to Magic Bounce, Mega Sableye can switch on Ferrothorn, bounces back its hazards, takes few damage from Gyro Ball / Power Whip and can burn with Will-o-Wisp or forces Ferrothorn to switch-out

**Super effective coverage**: Ferrothorn is threaten by common coverage moves such as Fire Blast, Focus Blast or Superpower due to its typing, making it weak to Pokémon such as Deoxys-Attack or Mega Gengar

* Ferrothorn can't take most powerful physical because it always doesn't run investement in Defense

* Ferrothorn can be switched-in safely against any Arceus Support varient, but can't check well other CM Arceus barring Arceus-Fairy and Arceus-Rock, and is a setup bait to CM Iron Defense Arceus-Steel
* Gyro Ball should be used carefully due to low PPs
* Protect should be also used cautiously, it can give to Mega-Rayquaza a free turn to set up a Dragon Dance for example
* Avoid switch-ing in Ferrothorn too many times if not recovered or if opponent has set Spikes

* While Ferrothorn can pivot into Arceus, Xerneas, Arceus-Steel, Zygarde-C, CM Arceus-Ground, Arceus-Dark, it's not a sufficient check to those

Other Options

* While Ferrothorn has access to very good support movepool, most of them doesn't deserves a slot, set up moves such as Curse and Iron Defense aren't useful because Ferrothorn often switch-in/out and wastes its potential as a Utility Pokemon, Explosion doesn't fit a Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, simply because Ferrothorn won't do huge damages, Thunder-Wave got nerfed this gen and it's not useful as it was used to be, Knock Off is very limited in a meta such as Anything Goes, Seed Bomb can be used over Power Whip but it's weaker
* The only decent option on Ferrothorn would be Toxic, since it can cripple even more switch-ins and works well with Leech Seed
* A max HP / Def spread can be used to take different threats, mostly physical, such as SD Arceus, but it's outclassed by other Defensive threats, and Specially Defensive Ferrothorn is definitely better and unique in its role (means it can check threats that other Specially Defensive Pokemon don't)

Checks and Counters

**Mega Rayquaza**: Mega Rayquaza can easily deal with Ferrothorn, Life Orb varient almost kills with Dragon Ascent and can kill with V-Create, or it can use it as setup fodder with Dragon Dance

**Primal-Groudon**: Primal-Groudon can safely switch-on Ferrothorn and setup its Stealth Rock or Rock Polish, and easily OKHO with its Fire-type STAB, or 2HKO with Earthquake

**Arceus-Ghost**: Ferrothorn is also a setup fodder for Arceus-Ghost, which can easily set a Swords Dance and OKHO with Never Ending Nightmare

**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Yveltal can shut down Ferrothorn and forces Gyro Ball PP wasting or switch-out, and can gain momentum with U-Turn

**Ho-Oh**: Ho-Oh takes nothing from Ferrothorn and just has to click Sacred Fire, and can recovery from Leech Seed damage thanks to Regenerator

**Mewtwo**: Mewtwo threaten Ferrothorn thanks to his access to Taunt coupled to Fire Blast and Focus Blast, which easily wear down Ferrothorn, but Mewtwo can't switch-in safely since Gyro Ball deal a big amount of damages to it

**Mega-Gengar**: Even if Ferrothorn is considered a check to Mega Gengar, it must watch out for Focus Blast varients
In addition to leftovers Chople Berry can be used as an item on ferrothorn. If your team struggles with geomancy xern or just needs a secondary xern answer chople berry allows ferrothorn to check geo xern. You will have to watch out though since prior damage is needed to ko +2 speed xerneas with gyro ball. Another big downside is the lack of passive recovery since lefties aren't chosen. However Ferrothorn also doesn't have to worry about focus blast gengar as much because of chople berry.

I don't know if chople berry deserves to be listed as a secondary item next to lefties in the main set but you could definitely add chople berry as an other option.

Hope i helped :)

* Ferrothorn is a decent defensive threat thanks to his mixed defenses and very good Grass / Steel typing
* Its type gives it a set of resistances, coupled to its high bulk, it allows Ferrothorn to check threats such as Primal-Kyogre, Xerneas, Mega-Gengar, Arceus-Fairy or Arceus-Rock remove gar, it feels out of place when talking about things ur typing helps u with (still has perfectly good secondary stab for wisp/hypno+hex if not focus blast
* It has access to a plenty of good Support moves such as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Leech Seed, makes it a decent choice in any bulky team
* But suffers of its 4x weakness to Fire-type, which makes Ferrothorn threaten by Mega-Rayquaza V-Create, Primal-Groudon and offensive threats that run Fire-type attack I'd expand to say that both fire and fighting weaknesses are annoying because random coverage moves can be an issue
* Ferrothorn can't take most powerful physical because it always doesn't run investement in Defense eh its phys def isn't that bad
* Ferrothorn is very slow, means it will often take an attack before making a move this isn't too relevant for overview + incredibly obvious

it seems like ur looking for something else negative to say. I think the last bullet should mention how much competition it faces now from the likes of steelceus/gears/celesteela (and other steels like solgaleo/zong/sciz but those arent as relevant) so even though it does have unique features to make it good to use over those it's still harder to fit

Moves

* Leech Seed gives Ferrothorn a way to stay healty and does chip damage to opponent, as it lacks reliable recovery
* Protect allows Ferrothorn, in tandem with Leech Seed, to scout opponent next move and even more recovery
* Gyro Ball is used to give Ferrothorn a way to do damage and not being a setup bait for threats such as Xerneas
* Power Whip is an other way to deal damage to Primal-Kyogre mostly, but it lacks coverage and firepower it also chips pdon better i guess. not sure what "lacking coverage and firepower is supposed to mean", the coverage isn't much worse and it's not that much weaker, the main downside to note is that u have a harder time beating fairies
* Ferrothorn can run Stealth Rock if your team lacks a user of it, it can set it on its free turns to cripple switch-ins and do chip damage
* Spikes is an alternative to Stealth Rock if you already have a user in your team these 2 bullets feel like they could be combined but w/e

Set Details

* Leftovers gives passive recovery to Ferrothorn
* Iron Barbs is Ferrothorn's best ability and does chip damage to physical threats
* EVs and Sassy nature maximize special bulk and allows Ferrothorn to check Primal-Kyogre, Xerneas and Support Arceus varients
* 0 Speed IVs and negative nature makes Ferrothorn slower as possible to do more damage with Gyro Ball

Usage Tips

* Ferrothorn can switch-in thanks to defensive typing and set either Stealth Rock or Spikes it can switch in on what? be specific
* Leech Seed is very spammable in a meta that lacks Grass-types, it guarantees passive recovery for Ferrothorn and wear down opposite Pokemon
* Protect helps to scout opponent's Fire-type attacks and Focus Blast to keep Ferrothorn safe when you switch-in but try not to use it too predictably otherwise gives free moves for opponents
* Ferrothorn can be switched-in safely against any most, not any Arceus Support variant, but can't check well other CM Arceus barring Arceus-Fairy and Arceus-Rock, and is a setup bait to CM Iron Defense Arceus-Steel this point is a little confused and u could just mention support arc formes in things it switches into. you can sorta check cm arc formes by at least getting up a leech seed for some chip and really the only one it cant do anything to is steelceus
* Gyro Ball should be used carefully due to low PPs
* Protect should be also used cautiously, it can give to Mega-Rayquaza a free turn to set up a Dragon Dance for example this can go above
* Avoid switch-ing in Ferrothorn too many times if not recovered or if opponent has set Spikes i think you mean something like "keep ferrothorn healthy if needed to check xyz"?
* Ferrothorn can be used as Status Absorber, since it's immune to Toxic and don't care of paralysis, burn is a bit annoying since it cancels Leftovers and makes Ferrothorn not able to deal huge damages with Gyro Ball, but any Fire-type teammate such as Primal-Groudon or Ho-Oh can deal with Will-o-Wisp specifically what kinds of status users is it switching in on? That is the practical info that helps know how to play ferrothorn rather than just saying it isn't too bothered by stauts

there needs to be a specific UT about setting up rocks/spikes to wear down opposing team, and also one about scouting for random fire/fighting coverage to avoid getting surprised and weakened

Team Options

this should still be in bullets not asterisks

* While Ferrothorn can pivot into Arceus, Xerneas, Arceus-Steel, Zygarde-C, CM Arceus-Ground, Arceus-Dark, it's not a sufficient check to those ok this doesnt really help unless you want to give actual examples of partners. I'd distribute those about TO instead of combining so many different pokemon into one section
* Arceus-Water fits well with Ferrothorn by helping check Primal-Groudon, Ho-Oh and Zygarde-C
* Ho-Oh can check Focus Blast Xerneas and form a solid core with Ferrothorn how is it a solid core? what else do they do for each other (hooh also beats mega luke, etc)
* Primal-Groudon appreciates the Stealth Rock support, it frees a slot for Primal-Groudon ????, allows it to run more offensive sets, it also profits from Spikes and can easily OKHO/2HKO things with the chip damage
* Mega-Rayquaza checks such as Arceus-Fairy or Arceus-Rock fit very well with Ferrothorn, since Ferrothorn isn't a decent check to Mega-Rayquaza
* Yveltal and Ferrothorn is a good core, both don't share a weakness, Ferrothorn can check Fairy-types and fat things that wall Yveltal, while Yveltal can deal with Primal-Groudon, Arceus-Ghost and Mewtwo and profits from hazard stack
* Zygarde-C is a good teammate for Ferrothorn, good synergy between Physical Wall and Special Wall, each one checks the other's threats like who, Ferrothorn can set hazard and Zygarde-C can phase with Dragon Tail

id give a specific bullet that says something like "attackers like xyz appreciate hazard support to better sweep"

Other Options

* While Ferrothorn has access to very good support movepool, most of them doesn't deserves a slot, set up moves such as Curse and Iron Defense aren't useful because Ferrothorn often switch-in/out and wastes its potential as a Utility Pokemon, Explosion doesn't fit a Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, simply because Ferrothorn won't do huge damages, Thunder-Wave got nerfed this gen and it's not useful as it was used to be, Knock Off is very limited in a meta such as Anything Goes, Seed Bomb can be used over Power Whip but it's weaker if they're shit other options, dont bother to mention them
* The only decent option on Ferrothorn would be Toxic, since it can cripple even more switch-ins and works well with Leech Seed i wouldnt call it the only decent option
* A max HP / Def spread can be used to take different threats, mostly physical, such as SD Arceus, but it's outclassed by other Defensive threats, and Specially Defensive Ferrothorn is definitely better and unique in its role (means it can check threats that other Specially Defensive Pokemon don't) dont mention, it's bad
* Chople Berry can be used to no worry about Focus Blast and check Geomancy Xerneas at +2, but lacking passive recovery makes it rarely choosed over Leftovers
I wouldnt mind bullets for twave and knock off, both have some decent utility

Checks and Counters

this part is... really not good. Most of these just arent sections I'd have. In this order (because c&c is ordered by most to least threatening) I'd have sections for Fire-types/Taunt/Physical Wallbreakers/Mega Sableye/Super effective coverage. This covers pretty much everything you have below but also hits a lot of mons that aren't covered and condenses ones that dont need a section to themselves. You don't give a single mon an individual section unless nothing else checks the pokemon in the analysis for the exact same reason. For example, Mega Sableye is unique in both walling it and reflecting hazards, but pdon+hooh can be put together because they both are fire types that kill it. You can ask me for more details but I think the sections should be fairly straightforward

also put periods after the last sentence here

**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Yveltal can shut down Ferrothorn and forces Gyro Ball PP wasting or switch-out, and can gain momentum with U-Turn give more taunt users and dont bother mentioning gaining momentum with u-turn since ferro could easily gyro and it wouldnt apply to other examples

**Mega-Gengar**: Even if Ferrothorn is considered a check to Mega Gengar, it must watch out for Focus Blast varients
same as above, lmk when this is implemented and I'll stamp. It's not bad but I cant do 1/3 now with the massive revamp c&c requires

MiyoKa just looking at c&c but I'd heavily encourage you to write this up in language more fitting for an analysis now ("mostly hooh and pdon" "switching-out") and elaborate just a bit. They're mostly pretty basic but being entirely easy 1-liners doesnt really look to good. Quick mobile check so no stamp but 1/3

• Knock Off isn't a common option, but it can cripple some sweepers that run Choice Band, Life Orb or Lum Berry Leftovers by knocking it off (not sure about this one btw, i might be wrong here) Mostly this is to cripple/weaken switch-ins by removing items; ie, stuff like lugia that needs lefties, makes cb ray easy to switch into, etc.

Mention Marshadow over ghostceus

2/3, should be ready for writeup.
