UU Ampharos

i think the checks & counters section is kind of lacking. you could fill the "special walls" section with spdef celebi, spdef hippowdon, swampert, florges and umbreon. additionally, if mega ampharos is running a physically defensive set, "faster physical attackers" aren't good checks. imo you should just mention common attackers that can OHKO mega ampharos (like nidos, hydreigon, kyurem, krookodile)

Overview

When Generation 6 XY was introduced, Ampharos got a very helpful new Mega Evolution. When it Mega-Evolves, it turns into a great bulky wall, and gains a second STAB to compliement its Electric STAB. Mega Ampharos also becomes one of the best counters to Electric -types in the whole tier when Mega Evolved. It has an amazing 165 Special Attack, together with a respectable 90/105/110 bulk. It can run a variety of sets, including Offensive or Defensive, and can learn Heal Bell, which allows to support the team as well. However, Ampharos's Mega Evolution does have some faults. Firstly, it gains three huge new weaknesses when Mega-Evolved (Ice, Dragon, and Fairy) which are commonly seen in the tier. Secondly, it has no reliable recovery outside of Rest, which definitely shortens its longevity on the field. Lastly, it becomes extremely slow with base 45 speed, which is a drop from its previous speed. However, this can be looked over, as it does allow Mega-Ampharos to use very slow Volt Switches, which makes it easier to pivot out into a favorable matchup. Overall, Mega Ampharos is an amazing Pokemon if used correctly, and is certainly something most teams need to look out for.

All-Out Attacker
########
name: All-Out Attacker
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Dragon Pulse
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Volt Switch/Heal Bell
ability: Static -> Mold Breaker
item: Ampharosite
evs: 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 Spe
nature: Modest

Moves
========

Thunderbolt is Mega-Ampharos's main STAB, with the most pBase Power out of all its other moves in the set. Dragon Pulse is Mega-Ampharos's secondary STAB, with just slightly less power than Thunderbolt. Focus Blast is not a STAB move, but packs a high base power and gives coverage against Steel-, Rock-, Normal-, and Dark -types. Since Mega-Ampharos is extremely slow, Volt Switch can be used to do damage and pivot out into a favorable matchup. Heal Bell can also be used instead of Volt Switch for the utility of getting rid of status conditions for the whole team, and especially for Mega-Ampharos, as being Poisoned or Burn ared is a big problem for Mega-Ampharos.

Set Details
========

132 HP EVs brings Mega Ampharos's HP to 353, and when that's combined with its 105/110 defenses, the EVs allows Mega Ampharos to take STAB attacks and neutral resistant attacks. 252 SpA EVs with a Modest nature maximize Mega Ampharos's Special Attack, bringing it to 471. This ensures that a STAB Thunderbolt will always hit at itsextremely hardest. 124 Spe EVs allow Mega Ampharos to outspeed base 60s, which would otherwise be a big problem for Mega-Ampharos (especially Swampert in particular). Static is the preferred Ability before Mega Evolution, as you can switch into Ampharos off of a U-turn into a resisted physical Electric, Water, Fire, Grass, Steel, Flying type attack and have a high chance to Pparalyze the opponent's Pokemon. After Mega Evolution, the ability will always be Mold Breaker.

Usage Tips
========

The best time to use Volt Switch is when there ison a predicted switch onfrom the opposing sident, so you can do some damage and switch out into a Pokemon that counters the opposing one sent. Since Mega Ampharos is also ridiculously slow, Volt Switch can be used after the opponent attacks to pivot out into a more favorable matchup. Volt Switch is also very useful early to mid game, allowing Mega-Ampharos to switch out into a good counter or check against opposing leads. If Heal Bell is being used instead, it is also much better if used on a predicted switch, if your team has any status aliments. In general, Mega-Ampharos in general is a great wallbreaker early to middle of the -game, but isn't as amazing late-game due to its low speed.

Team Options
========

Most Trick Room setters work wonders with this set, as with 0 Speed IVs, Mega Ampharos is slow enough to start sweeping. Slowking is a great Trick Room setter, as it resists Ice and can take special Dragon hits. However, to not mess up team synergy, instead of using Trick Room, Tailwind users can be useful. Mega Ampharos is too slow for Sticky Web, so that stopsmeans that Galvantula from being an excellenis not a great team option for Mega Ampharos. Mega Ampharos can also make good use of wWish passers as potential team options due to the fact that this set does not have any reliable recovery. Fast U-Tturn users work greatvery well with Mega Ampharos as they can U-Tturn into Mega Ampharos to tank a hit. U-Tturn users also form a VoltTurn core with it. Lastly, Jirachi can be a wWish passer while Mega Ampharos is a status helpcleric, so the two could form a cleric core.

Defensive
########
name: Defensive
move 1: Rest
move 2: Sleep Talk
move 3: Volt Switch
move 4: Dragon Pulse
ability: Static -> Mold Breaker
item: Ampharosite
evs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
nature: Bold

Moves
========

Rest and Sleep Talk work hand in hand with each other. Rest is the only form of recovery that Ampharos gets, so working with Sleep Talk is the right way to go. Dragon Pulse is on the set to do some damage, rather than making this a full utility set. Mega Ampharos will usually outslowbe slower than the opposing Pokemon, so Volt Switch can be used to pivot out into a favorable matchup against the pokemon it was used against. Heal Bell can also work on this set as well instead of Dragon Pulse, as it provides the utility of getting status conditions off the team. However, thisat makes this set walled by Ground-types.

Set Details
========

248 HP EVs bring HP up to 393, which works well with Mega-Ampharos's natural bulk. In combination with 248 HP EVs, 252 Defense EVs and a Bold nature allow Mega Ampharos to tank physical hits to the best of its ability, and grants it protection from Pokemon such as Victini and Entei. Static is preferred before Mega-Evolution due to the fact that it allows Mega-Ampharos to switch into any physical attack that it resists while granting a chance to paralyze. The physically defensive set can be tweaked a bit to make a specially defensive spread of 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 SpA.

Usage Tips
========

Unless Mega Ampharos has a status condition or is low on health, Thunderbolt and Dragon Pulse should be the only two moves to be used until Mega Ampharos needs to use Rest. Rest and Sleep Talk form the RestTalk combination, which allows Mega Ampharos to gain all of its health back, and then use Sleep Talk to randomly choose between Thunderbolt, Dragon Pulse, or Rest. Rest should be used when Mega Ampharos's health is low, or if it has a status condition. This makes this set a great counter to electric types. One good thing about this set is that you can pivot into a sleep inducer to absorb the Sleep and benefit from it by using Sleep Talk. Lastly, this set counters Fire-types as well as putting significant pressure on Water types such as CroCSuicune and Slowbro.

Team Options
========

Suicune works greatvery well with this set, due to the fact that it is a great special wall, and it can tank any hit that may threaten Mega-Ampharos. Pokemon such as SpDef Mew, Florges, and Umbreon also fill this role. Mega Ampharos is a complete stop to Honchkrow, so Pokemon that enjoy Honchkrow being non problematic include Slowbro, Starmie, and Toxicroak.

Agility
########
name: Agility
move 1: Agility
move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Dragon Pulse
move 4: Focus Blast
ability: Static -> Mold Breaker
item: Ampharosite
evs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
nature: Modest

Moves
========

Agility boosts Mega Ampharos's speed by two stages, and allows Mega Ampharos to sweep most Pokemon that can't outspeed it. Thunderbolt and Dragon Pulse are the main STABs and Focus Blast is special Fighting type coverage against Steel, Rock, Normal, and Dark types.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs maximize Mega Ampharos's speed for a neutral nature, which allows it start sweeping after an Agility boost. 252 Special Attack EVs maximizes Mega Ampharos's Special Attack with a beneficial nature . This still allows Mega Ampharos to hit as hard as it possibly can. Lastly, Static is the preferred ability before Mega Evolution as it allows Ampharos to switch into a predicted resisted physical attack and have a high chance to paralyze.

Usage Tips
========

Under normal circumstances, this set should be used as a late-game sweeper, as Mega Ampharos does not benefit from not being able to hold an item. Thunderbolt should always be used unless it is resisted or another one of the three attacks can hit super-effectively. The best to use Agility is on a predicted switch, as Ampharos benefits from a boost and can begin to sweep without taking any damage.

Team Options
========

Vaporeon takes any special hit like a tank. Vaporeon also has access to Wish, making it a good Wish passer for Mega Ampharos. Mega Ampharos can also take Grass and Electric moves for Vaporeon. Florges can play the same role asbe used instead of Vaporeon as wella partner for Mega Ampharos. Florges alsourthermore, Florges has good defensive synergy with Mega Ampharos, as it can take Dragon-type attacks for Mega Ampharos and Mega Ampharos can take Steepl-type attacks, which may gives it an advantage over Vaporeon. Wallbreakers such as CB Miensharo and CB Victini are liked as ithey gets rid off walls and gives Mega- Ampharos and easier time sweeping. Mixed Victini could also work, as it gets rid of Florges with V-Create and Swampert with Grass Knot.

Other Options
########

Mega-Ampharos can use lesser looked at moves such as Signal Beam and Power Gem, but Mega Ampharos has better coverage with the All-Out-Attacker set. Cotton Guard can be used on a stall set and can boost defense by 3 stages, but it is not recommended due to Mega Ampharos's tendency to switch often, and it takes up a moveslot that can be used for something better. Mega Ampharos can also make use of either Thunder Wave or Toxic as well.

Checks & Counters
########

**Status** Mega Ampharos relies on its bulk to stay on the field. Toxic or a Burn will put a timer on Mega Ampharos's longevity, and it can only get rid of this by risking a move slot for either Rest or Heal Bell.

**Special Walls** Snorlax can wall Mega Ampharos even if it packs Focus Blast, due to its high special bulk and HP and being able to retaliate with Earthquake. Most Sspecial Wwalls such as SpDef Celebi, SpDef Hippowdown, Florges, orand Umbreon that are not weak to Mega Ampharos's STAB or have recovery are a huge pain for Mega Ampharosit.

**Faster Physical Attackers** If Mega Ampharos isn't running a Physically Defensive set, most faster users that pack a super effective move can hurt Ampharos if it can't OHKO back, such a. An example of this is Heracross, who outspeeds,ich can take a Dragon Pulse, and 2HKO Mega Ampharos with Earthquake.

**Faster Counters with Super Effective CounterMoves** Pokemon such as Nidoking, Kyurem, Hydreigon, and Krookodile that are faster and have a STAB move that Mega- Ampharos is weak to counter Mega-Ampharos. (i suggest removing kyurem from this as it does not counter mega ampharos)

I was reading through this and noticed that you mention Thunderbolt in the last section of the Defensive set. The set features Volt Switch instead of Thunderbolt, so you might want to change it. Keep in mind that GP people sometimes read exclusively for grammar, so you might need to reread through what you wrote to make sure everything makes sense prose-wise.

Somewhere under the Agility set, you're gonna need to emphasize exactly how fast Mega Ampharos is after an Agility, and what speed it hits. After an Agility, Modest Mega Ampharos hits 378 Speed, which allows it to outrun Tornadus-T +Speed Base 120s. Sadly the most relevant Pokemon in this speed tier in UU are Dugtrio and Sceptile, so you could probably just mention that it outruns them, but primarily base 115s such as Azelf, Starmie, Raikou, Mega Houndoom, etc. are all outpaced after a boost. You'll probably also want to emphasize that it isn't able to outpace any Choice Scarf users after an Agility, thus still leaving it susceptible to being revenge killed, unless one goes for a second Agility. For Team Options in that set you might also want to cover hazard setters who can wear down the opposing team, such as Forretress, Froslass, Roserade, etc. because Ampharos can still fall short of netting KOes without prior damage. In Usage Tips you might also want to explain that as the reason why it's best executed lategame

Rest and Sleep Talk work hand-in-hand with each other. Rest is the only form of recovery that Ampharos gets, so working with Sleep Talk is the right way to go. Dragon Pulse is on the set to do some damage, (RC) rather than making this a full utility set. Mega Ampharos will usually be slower than the opponent outslow, so Volt Switch can be used to pivot out into a favorable matchup against the Pokemon it was used against. Heal Bell can work on this set as well instead of Dragon Pulse, as it provides the utility of getting status conditions off the team. However this makes this set walled by Ground-types.

Set Details
========

248 HP EVs bring Ampharos's HP up to 393, which works well with Mega Ampharos's natural bulk. In combination with 248 HP EVs, 252 Defense EVs and a Bold nature allow Mega Ampharos to tank physical hits to the best of its ability, and grants it protection from Pokemon such as Victini and Entei. Static is preferred before Mega Evolving Evolution due to the fact that it allows Mega Ampharos to switch into any physical attack that it resists while granting a chance to paralyze. The physically defensive set can be tweaked a bit to make a specially defensive spread of 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 SpA.

Usage Tips
========

Unless Mega Ampharos has a status condition or is low on health, Volt Switch and Dragon Pulse should be the only two moves to be used until Mega Ampharos needs to use Rest. Rest and Sleep form the RestTalk combination, which allows Mega Ampharos to gain all of its health back, (RC) and then use Sleep Talk to randomly choose between Volt Switch, Dragon Pulse, or Rest. Rest should be used when Mega Ampharos's health is low, or if it has a status condition. This makes this set a great counter to Electric-types. One good thing about this set is that you Ampharos can pivot into a sleep inducer to absorb the sleep and benefit from it by using Sleep Talk. Lastly, this set counters Fire-types as well as putting significant pressure on Water-types such as CroCune Suicune and Slowbro.

Team Options
========

Suicune works great with this set, (RC) due to the fact that it is a great special wall, (RC) and it can tank any hit that may might threaten Mega Ampharos. Pokemon such as specially defensive Mew, Florges, and Umbreon also fill this role. Mega Ampharos is a complete stop to Honchkrow, so Pokemon that enjoy Honchkrow being non-problematic make great partners, including include Slowbro, Starmie, and Toxicroak.

Agility

move 3: Dragon Pulse
move 4: Focus Blast
ability: Static -> Mold Breaker
item: Ampharosite
evs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
nature: Modest

Moves
========

Agility boosts Mega Ampharos's Speed by two stages, and allows Mega Ampharos to sweep most Pokemon that it can't normally outspeed. Thunderbolt and Dragon Pulse are the main STAB moves and Focus Blast is special Fighting-type coverage against Steel-, Rock-, Normal-, and Dark-types.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs maximize Mega Ampharos's Speed for a neutral nature, which allows it start sweeping after an Agility boost. Mega Ampharos can outspeed most Pokemon after an Agility boost, but fails to outspeed fast Choice Scarfers users and Pokemon who that naturally outspeed it such as Azelf. 252 Special Attack EVs maximizes Mega Ampharos's Special Attack with a beneficial nature. This still allows Mega Ampharos to hit as hard as it possibly can. Lastly, Static is the preferred ability before Mega Evolving Evolution as it allows Ampharos to switch into a predicted resisted physical attack and have a high chance to paralyze the opponent.

Usage Tips
========

Under normal circumstances, this set should be used as a late-game sweeper, as Mega Ampharos does not benefit from not being able to hold an item. Thunderbolt should always be used unless it is resisted or another one of the three attacks can hit super effectively. The best time to use Agility is on a predicted switch, as Ampharos benefits from a boost and can begin to sweep without taking any damage.

Team Options
========

Vaporeon makes a great partner, as it can take takes any special hit like a tank. Vaporeon also has access to Wish, making it a good Wish passer for Mega Ampharos. Mega Ampharos can also take Grass and Electric moves for Vaporeon. Florges can play the same role as Vaporeon as well. Florges also has good defensive synergy with Mega Ampharos, as it can take Dragon-type attacks for Mega Ampharos and Mega Ampharos can take Steel-type attacks, which may can give it an advantage over Vaporeon. Wallbreakers such as Choice Band Miensharo and CB Victini are liked, (AC) as it they gets rid off walls and gives Mega Ampharos and easier time sweeping. Mixtini could also work, as it gets rid of Florges with V-Create and Swampert with Grass Knot.

Other Options
########

Mega Ampharos can use lesser-looked-at moves such as Signal Beam and Power Gem, but Mega Ampharos has better coverage with the All-Out Attacker set. Cotton Guard can be used on a stall set and can to boost Defense by 3 stages, but it is not recommended due to Mega Ampharos's tendency to switch often, and it takes up a moveslot. Mega Ampharos can also make use of either Thunder Wave or Toxic as well.

Checks & Counters
########

**Status** Mega Ampharos relies on its bulk to stay on the field. Toxic or a burn will put a timer on Mega Ampharos's longevity, and it can only get rid of this by risking a moveslot for either Rest or Heal Bell

**Special Walls** Snorlax can wall Mega Ampharos even if it packs Focus Blast, (RC) due to its high special bulk and HP, (AC) and can and being able to retaliate with Earthquake. Most special walls not weak to Ampharos's STAB or that have recovery, such as SpDef Celebi, SpDef Hippowdown, Florges, or Umbreon, (AC) not weak to STAB or have recovery are a huge pain for Mega Ampharos.

**Faster Physical Attackers** If Mega Ampharos isn't running a physically defensive set, most faster users that pack a super effective move can hurt Ampharos if it can't OHKO back, such as Heracross, who which outspeeds, can take a Dragon Pulse, and 2HKOes with Earthquake.

**Faster Super Effective Counters** Pokemon such as Nidoking, Kyurem, Hydreigon, and Krookodile that are faster and have a STAB move that Mega Ampharos is weak to counter Mega Ampharos.

Overview
########

Withhen Generation 6 was introduced the transition to XY, Ampharos got a very helpful new Mega Evolution. When it Mega Evolves, it turns into a great bulky wall and gains a secondary Dragon typing second STAB to compliment its Electric STAB. Mega Ampharos is also becomes one of the best counters to Electric-types in the whole tier when Mega-Evolved. It has an amazing 165 Special Attack, (RC) along with a respectable 90 / 105 / 110 bulk. It can run a variety of sets, including offensive or defensive, and can learn Heal Bell, which allows it to support the team as well. However, Ampharos's Mega Evolution does have some faults. When Mega-Evolved, (AC) Firstly, (RC) it gains three huge new weaknesses to Ice-, Dragon-, and Fairy-types when Mega-Evolved (Ice, Dragon, and Fairy) which are commonly seen in the tier. Secondly Also, it has no reliable recovery outside of Rest, which definitely shortens its longevity lifespan on the field. Lastly, it is becomes extremely slow with base 45 Speed, (AC) which is a drop for it. However, this can be looked over, as it does allow Mega Ampharos to use very slow Volt Switches, which makes it easier to pivot out into a favorable matchup. Overall, Mega Ampharos is an amazing Pokemon if used correctly, and is certainly a great tank most teams need to look out for.

All-Out Attacker
########
name: All-Out Attacker

move 2: Dragon Pulse
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Volt Switch / Heal Bell
ability: Static -> Mold Breaker
item: Ampharosite
evs: 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 Spe
nature: Modest

Moves
========

Thunderbolt is Mega Ampharos's main STAB move, (AC) with the most power out of all moves. Dragon Pulse is Mega Ampharos's secondary STAB move and hits Electric- and Ground-types, (AC) with just slightly less power than that resist Thunderbolt. Focus Blast is not a STAB move, but packs a high Base Power and covers gives coverage against Steel-, Rock-, Normal-, and Dark-types. (space)Because Mega Ampharos is extremely slow, Volt Switch can be used to do damage and pivot out into a favorable matchup. Heal Bell can also be used instead of Volt Switch for the utility of getting rid of status conditions for the whole team, (AC) and especially for as including Mega Ampharos, (AC) as status is a big problem for Mega Ampharos.

Set Details
========

132 HP EVs in HP give brings Mega Ampharos's HP to 353, and combined with its 105 / 110 defenses, allows Mega Ampharos some bulk to take STAB attacks and most neutral and resisted attacks. 252 Special Attack EVs with a Modest nature maximize Mega Ampharos's Special Attack, making Mega Ampharos hit like a truck. bringing it to 471. This ensures that a STAB Thunderbolt will always hit at its hardest. 124 Speed EVs allow Mega Ampharos to outspeed base 60s, whoich would otherwise be a big problem for Mega Ampharos, (AC) especially Swampert (Swampert in particular). Static is the preferred ability before Mega Evolving, as you can switch Ampharos into an a resisted physical Electric-, Water-, Fire-, Grass-, Steel-, or Flying-type attack and have a high chance to paralyze the opponent. After Mega Evolving, Ampharos's ability will always be Mold Breaker.

Usage Tips
========

The It is best time to use Volt Switch is when there is a predicted switch on the opposing side, so Ampharos can do some damage and switch out into a Pokemon that counters the opposing one. Because Mega Ampharos is also ridiculously slow, Volt Switch can be used after the opponent attacks to pivot out into a more favorable matchup. Volt Switch is also very useful early-to-mid-game, allowing Mega Ampharos to switch out into a good counter or check or counter against opposing leads. If Heal Bell is preferred over Volt Switch being used instead, it is also much better used on a predicted switch if your team has status aliments. Mega Ampharos in general is a great pivot wallbreaker early-to-mid-game, but isn't as amazing late-game due to its low Speed.
(mention Pokemon that it can switch into such as Jolteon/Heliolisk(Electric-types), Water-types, Grass-types, and specially based Fire-types)

(also mention that using Volt Switch helps bring out frail sweepers)

Team Options

Most Trick Room setters work wonders with this set, as with 0 Speed IVs, Mega Ampharos is slow enough to
"outspeed" most Pokemon in Trick Room start sweeping. Slowking is a great Trick Room setter, as it resists Ice and can take special Dragon hits. However, to not mess up team synergy, Why would this mess up team synergy? Can you give some more explanation? instead of using Trick Room, Tailwind users can work, (AC) too. also be useful. Mega Ampharos is too slow for Sticky Web, so that stops Galvantula from being an excellent team option. (don't mention Pokemon that don't work well with it, mention Pokemon that DO work well with it) Mega Ampharos can also make good use of Wish passers such as Umbreon and Florges make great teammates, (AC) as potential team options due to the fact that as Ampharos this set does not have any reliable recovery. Fast U-turn users work great with Mega Ampharos as they can U-turn into Mega Ampharos to tank a hit. U-turn users also form a VoltTurn core. (These two sentences are somewhat redundant, I would just say something like that "U-Turn users such as (insert examples, Mienshao is a good choice) make great teammates, as they form a VoltTurn core") Lastly, Jirachi can be a Wish passer while Mega Ampharos acts as a cleric, so the two could form a core. (phrased weirdly, just say something like "Jirachi and Mega Ampharos make a solid core, as Jirachi can heal Mega Ampharos with Wish while Mega Ampharos relieves status for its teammates")

Mega Ampharos will usually be slower than the opponent, so Volt Switch can be used to pivot out into a favorable matchup against the Pokemon it was used against. Dragon Pulse covers Electric- and Ground-types and generally hits very hard. Heal Bell can replace work on this set as well instead of Dragon Pulse in the last slot, as it provides the utility of getting status conditions off the team. However, (AC) forgoing Dragon Pulse leaves Ampharos open to Electric- and this makes this set walled by Ground-types.

(We know that already, explain RestTalk better in Moves if you want) Rest should be used when Mega Ampharos's health is low, (AC) or if it has been inflicted with a status condition. Knitpick, it's just "ability: Static" - not "ability: Static -> Mold Breaker". Fix that.
