Doubles Diancie

[OVERVIEW]

Diancie is a great Trick Room setter and attacker due to its great bulk and decent offensive stats. Diancie's ability Clear Body gives it an immunity to Intimidate, which is a common problem for most physical attackers. A Rock / Fairy typing is unique for a Trick Room setter, making Diancie not weak to the Pokemon that usually beat Trick Room teams, such as Marshadow and Tyranitar. Diancie's signature move, Diamond Storm, enables it to both hit foes hard and raise its Defense drastically, which makes it harder to take down after boosts. However, Diancie is weak to Ground- and Water-type attacks, two common type that, when backed with Diancie's low base HP, give it a bad matchup against rain. Diancie also deals next to no damage against Steel-types.

Moves
========

Diamond Storm is a spammable STAB move that has high accuracy, high Base Power, and a high chance to sharply raise Defense for each foe it hits. STAB Moonblast adds to the coverage, allowing Diancie to hit relevant Pokemon such as Mega Salamence, Hydreigon, and Terrakion and making it only walled by Steel-types. Given Diancie's low base Speed, Trick Room is essential speed control for it and its teammates, giving them a way to take adavantage advantage of their low Speed stats. Lastly, Protect is used for scouting the foe's moves, shielding Diancie while its ally deals with a threat, or stalling out field effects.

Set Details
========

Clear Body is the only ability for Diancie, giving it immunity to Intimidate. Maximum investment in HP and Attack lets Diancie hit harder and survive longer. A Brave nature and 0 Speed IVs are preferred to keep Diancie's Speed as low as possible. Stone Plate is preferred over Life Orb because Diamond Storm is the most used move and Life Orb recoil will affect Diancie's longevity. Weakness Policy is an option to make Diancie a solid sweeper, as Diamond Storm's Defense boosts can help it survive most super effective hits and it can then score some KOs in return.

Usage Tips
========

Diancie's vulnerability to common Pokemon makes it work best mid- or late-game after its threats have been eliminated or weakened. The only Pokemon that resist Diancie's STAB combination are Steel-types, so get rid of those immediately, and Diancie will be granted a paved road to finish the game. Diancie's bulk allows it to survive a super effective hit in a pinch and still be able to set Trick Room. Still, Diancie can be worn down pretty easily if double targeted with strong STAB moves, so using Protect on the turn it is supposed to set up Trick Room can be a good bait to give Diancie's partner a free hit or even KO on a foe. Potential Taunt users such as Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele can be 2HKOed by Diamond Storm. Diancie can be a good switch-in for certain resisted attacks such as Mega Salamence's Double-Edge and Hoopa's Hyperspace Fury. However, switching in too often isn't wise due to it lacking a recovery move.

Team Options
========

Fake Out and redirection support from Scrafty and Amonguss, respectively, prevents Diancie from being double targeted and lets it set Trick Room more safely. Amoonguss can take advantage of Trick Room, since it is very slow and able to spam Spore. Steel-type checks such as Mega Charizard Y, Mega Camerupt, Volcanion, Heatran, Scrafty, and Snorlax help Diancie's matchups a lot. The aforementioned Fire-types also help greatly against opposing Amoonguss, which can Spore Diancie before Trick Room goes up or Spore everything once Trick Room is set. Tapu Fini makes a great teammate, as it can alleviate the rain matchup, use Heal Pulse on Diancie to heal it back up if necessary, and provide Misty Terrain to stop Amoonguss from using Spore or prevent unlikely burns. Tapu Bulu is another great teammate for Diancie, as it can neutralize Earthquake damage and give indirect healing for Diancie thanks to Grassy Surge. Lastly, other Trick Room setters are mandatory for a full Trick Room team. Hoopa can be a good setter, since it doesn't let foes use Protect to stall out Trick Room turns. Porygon2, Bronzong, or Mew is useful for using Trick Room on the same turn Diancie uses it when there is one Trick Room turn left. Since most foes will use Protect to stall out Trick Room's effects, doing this will create a new Trick Room.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========

Though entry hazards are rare and less helpful in Doubles matches, Diancie can be an effective user of Stealth Rock to help out teams that are weak to Mega Charizard Y or need chip damage to take down a Pokemon. Life Orb offers more raw power and enables Diancie to get several 2HKOs that Stone Plate doesn't, such as on Landorus-T and Tyranitar, but it will affect Diancie's longevity. Rockium Z is an option that can create a hole against the bulkiest threats that don't resist Rock while also bypassing Wide Guard. Earth Power is an option to hit Steel-types super effectively; however, Diancie is unlikely to land an OHKO even on super effective hits. Iapapa Berry is good for improving Diancie's longevity, as it lacks a recovery move.

Checks and Counters
========

**Steel-types**: Steel-types resist Diancie's STAB combination, meaning Pokemon such as Mega Metagross, Ferrothorn, Celesteela, Genesect, Aegislash, and Excadrill can safely switch in and OHKO it with their STAB moves. A special mention goes to Mega Scizor because it has access to priority Bullet Punch, which isn't affected by Trick Room.

**Ground-types**: Landorus-T and Zygarde are able to hit Diancie super effectively and take little damage from Diamond Storm. However, Diancie can gain several Defense boosts before taking damage from their Earthquake or Thousand Arrows.

**Water-types**: Rain sweepers such as Kingdra, Ludicolo, and Mega Swampert can OHKO Diancie with their rain-boosted STAB attacks. Azumarill can use Belly Drum in front of Diancie and then use +6 priority Aqua Jet to KO it. Bulky Water-types like Milotic and Tapu Fini can 2HKO Diancie without taking too much damage.

**Grass-types**: Tapu Bulu, Mega Venusaur, and Ferrothorn are able to tank Diancie's moves and beat it with their own STAB moves. Amoonguss's terrible Speed enables it to outspeed Diancie under Trick Room, use Clear Smog to get rid of Diancie's stat boosts, and spam Spore.

**Wide Guard**: Wide Guard users such as Celesteela, Aegislash, and Araquanid prevent Diamond Storm from doing damage, and they are commonly used beside Rock-weak teammates to preclude Rock Slide.

  • [Overview] Don't overstate Diancie's effectiveness - it's not great, it's decently viable
  • [Overview] When you're talking about Diancie's weaknesses, just say it folds to Steel-type attacks, no need to list so many examples
  • [Moves] Your bullet point about Protect is fairly lacking, say that it "scouts the foe's moves or shields Diancie while its ally deals with a threat"
  • [Set Details] You should make it clear that Rock Plate is used over something like Life Orb because Diamond Storm is Diancie's most used attack by far
  • [Usage Tips] Talking about Diancie's special bulk doesn't really fit here - either change this bullet point to say something about how Diancie can take a hit in a pinch and still set up Trick Room or remove it entirely
  • [Usage Tips] Diancie can be a decent switchin for certain attacks - Mega Salamence's Double-Edge or Hyper Voice, for example. Diancie isn't exactly frail, so all this is saying is that Diancie is better when it has more health, which is true for every Pokemon
  • [Team Options] You should talk about what Diancie does to help the teammates you recommend in return for their benefits. Tapu Bulu enjoys Diancie's ability to take on Fire- and Flying-types, etc
  • [Other Options] Full special sounds pretty bad - Diamond Storm is the main reason to use Diance, so take off Power Gem
  • [Other Options] Add Stealth Rock and Iapapa Berry
  • [Checks and Counters] **Priority Attacks** should be removed, Diancie isn't weak to Priority in general - rather, it's weak to a couple select priority attacks. Add a sentence about Bullet Punch under **Steel-types** and Aqua Jet under **Water-types** and add that they get around Diancie's attempts to switch turn order
  • [Checks and Counters] **Sleep** isn't particularly threatening to Diancie, at least not enough to get its own tag. You can mention that Amoonguss is able to put Diancie to sleep and underspeed it in Trick Room in **Grass-types**, but remove the tag
Tag me when you've implemented the above and message me on Discord if you have any questions, I want to go over this again before sending you to writeup

is it worth mentioning putting the 4 remaining evs in def or spdef depending on if the team prefers genesect and porygon 2 to get an attack/spatk boost? genesect is a general threat while porygon 2 is unpleasant to face in general, with trick room as well

  • [Moves] "25% chance to raise Defense 300%" is both confusing and incorrect. Say that it has a great chance to sharply raise Defense for each foe it connects with and leave it at that
  • [Moves] Trick Room isn't primarily for Diancie itself, it helps Diancie's teammates
  • [Set Details] swb's point is an interesting one, but ultimately not relevant here. 4 Def and 4 SpDef each have their uses, but the differences between each are so minute that it's not worth pointing out when to use each one. Genesect's Iron Head OHKOes regardless of the Download boost and Porygon2 is both rare and weak even with a Download boost.
  • [Team Options] Bronzong is also good as a secondary TR setter, it appreciates Diancie's good matchup against Fire-types
  • [Checks and Counters] Remove Venusaur from Grass-types
Some of your wording and explanations are a bit different from what I'd say but since this isn't written up yet I won't nitpick. QC 1/2, go ahead and start writeup once you implement the above

Since Diancite gonna releases soon, this mon gonna be under high priority and i dont have right to do this.

Dropping.

Amcheck here.

68 evs in SpAtk let you 2hko hoopa-u (the standard 192hp/0SpDef spread) without a boosting nature, which seems p useful. 52 speed evs and a neutral nature lets you outspeed min speed hoopa u which seems less useful.

imo best way to go is

248 Hp / 68+ Atk / 192 SpAtk with a brave nature

That lets you 2hko standard hoopa, and the attack investment is the minimum to 2hko 244 Hp /136 Def Bold Zapdos (without a boosting item).
Idk if there are any other super relevant benchmarks to hit, but that hoopa one seems quite useful.

As for the item slot, stone plate seems kinda weird to me, idk. Im gonna leave it to the QC team if stone plate should stay, but i think its worth mentioning rockium z and fairium z in OO, if you dont have another z move on your team.

Buzzwole seems weird to mention in team options considering no one really runs it, and it also gets walled by celesteela and aegis. Marshadow and Landorus T both seem like better mons to mention for dealing with steel types. (I realize that marsh wasnt yet released when you started the analysis) It also might be worth mentioning some mons that work well under trick room, since diancie is really only decent on full or semi trick room teams.

As for mega diancie, its much less viable than little diancie, so i wouldnt worry about writing it up tbh.

hi amcheck

Overview
You want to mention that diancie has the niche of being a tr setter with a decent matchup vs marshadow. solid defense allows it to take a hit and set up tr while also packing moonblast to deal heavy damage back.

Usage tips
I guess you could remove thundurus from taunt users, its never seen and even if it is i dont think it has the room to run taunt.

I think it would also be worth saying that due to diancies decent bulk and p good typing you dont always need to position it with support to get the tr up as it can take some hits. as an example (not to add just to get the point across clearer) you always take a LO koko tbolt + hashtags av kyub ice beam. i think its worth mentioning for diancie because its typing as a tr setter is unique in that it isnt weak to the types that usually beat tr.

it might also be something to say that since diancie is arguably more prone to double targetting than some other tr setters, protecting on the turn you mean to set up tr can be a good bait to give your partner a free hit, maybe ko, on the opposing team.

Team options
when you mention amoonguss also say that once tr is up it can just go to work sporing stuff because its so slow.

where you mention steel killers, id remove marshadow since you rarely see it with tr diancie because its super fast and replace with something like mega camerupt. also for this bit add that the fire types also help greatly vs opposing amoong, which can spore diancie before tr goes up or spore everything once tr is set. heatran even more so because of eruption under tr.

tapu fini is also a very nice partner. it alleviates the rain matchup a bit, can heal pulse diancie back up if necessary and also provides misty terrain to stop amoong sporing.

Other options
This is just nitpicking, but not every pinch berry is good for diancie. i think its mago that confuses if you have a -spe nature? whatever it is, i think its easier to just mention iapapa berry rather than saying 'every pinch berry except for mago'.

It's Stone Plate, not Rock Plate. Please correct the rest of the analysis accordingly

[USAGE TIPS]
Don't mention switching in on Landorus-T U-Turn, or if you do, mention the consequences of switching in - getting predicted and you threw away a mon because after you got unnecessarily chunked. Diancie cannot do its job at half health because it's reliant on its bulk to do anything.

[C&C]
Mention Clear Smog when mentioning Amoonguss as a Diancie check.

I'm disappointed that QC didn't mention, at any point, for this to be fixed up a bit before the GP stage, considering the grammar here. Thank you for understanding.

GP 2/2

[OVERVIEW]

Diancie is a great Trick Room setter and attacker due to its great bulk and decent offensive stats. Diancie's ability Clear Body gives it an immunity to Intimidate, which is a common problem for most physical attackers. A Rock / Fairy typing is unique for a Trick Room setter, making allowing Diancie to not be weak to the Pokemon that usually beat Trick Room teams, such as Marshadow and Tyranitar. Diancie's signature move, Diamond Storm, enables it to both hit foes hard and raise its Defense drastically, which makes it harder to take down after boosts. However, Diancie is weak to Ground- and Water-type attacks, two common types, which that, when backed with Diancie's low base HP, give it a bad matchup against rain. Diancie also deals next to no damage against Steel-types.

Moves
========

Diamond Storm is a spammable STAB move that has high accuracy, high Base Power, and a high chance to sharply raise Defense for each foe it hits. STAB Moonblast is for adds to the coverage gives Diancie Rock- and Fairy-type coverage, allowing Diancie it to hit relevant Pokemon such as Mega Salamence, Hydreigon, and Terrakion and making it only walled by Steel-types.

Set Details
========

Clear Body is the only ability for Diancie, giving it immunity to Intimidate. Maximum investment in HP and Attack lets Diancie hit harder and survive longer. A Brave nature and 0 Speed IVs are preferred to keep Diancie's Speed as slow low as possible. Stone Plate is preferred over Life Orb because Diamond Storm is the most used move and Life Orb recoil will affect Diancie's its longevity. Weakness Policy is an option to make Diancie a solid sweeper, wincon as it can get Diamond Storm's Defense stat boosts can help it before taking damage which enable it to survive most super effective hits and it can then score scoring some KOs in return.

Usage Tips
========

Diancie's vulnerability vulnerable to common Pokemon makes it work best at mid- or late-game after its threats have been eliminated or weakened. The only Pokemon that can resist Diancie's STAB combination are is Steel-types, so get rid of those immediately, and Diancie will be granted a paved road to finish the game. Diancie's bulk allows it to survive live a super effective hit in a pinch and still be able to set Trick Room. Still, Diancie can be worn down pretty easily if by double targeted with strong STAB moves, so which makes using Protect on the turn it is supposed to set up Trick Room can be a good bait to give Diancie's your partner a free hit on or even KO on a foe. Potential Foreseeable Taunt users such as Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele can be 2HKOed by Diamond Storm. Diancie can be a good switch-in for certain resisted attacks such as Mega Salamence's Double-Edge and Hoopa's Hyperspace Fury. However, switching in too often isn't wise due to it lacking a recovery move.

Team Options
========

Tapu Bulu is another great teammate for Diancie, as it can neutralize Earthquake damage and give indirect healing for Diancie thanks to Grassy Surge and give an indirect healing for Diancie. Lastly, other Trick Room setters are mandatory for a full Trick Room team. Hoopa can be a good setter, since it doesn't let foes use Protect to stall out Trick Room turns. Porygon2, Bronzong, or Mew is are useful for using Trick Room on the same turn Diancie uses it Trick Room when there is one Trick Room turn left. Since most foes will use Protect to stall out Trick Room's effects, doing this will create a new Trick Room.

Other Options
========

Though entry hazards are rare and less helpful in Doubles matches, Diancie can be an effective user of Stealth Rock to help out teams that are weak to Mega Charizard Y or need a chip damage to take down a Pokemon. Life Orb offers more raw power and enables Diancie to get several 2HKOs that Stone Plate doesn't, such as on Landorus-T and Tyranitar, but it will affect Diancie's longevity. Rockium Z is an option that can to create a hole against all the bulkiest threats to Diancie that don't resist Rock while also bypassing Wide Guard. Earth Power is an option to hit Steel-types super effectively; however, Diancie is unlikely to land an OHKO even on super effective hits. Iapapa Berry is good for improving Diancie's longevity, as it lacks a recovery move.

Checks and Counters
========

**Steel-types**: Steel-types resists to Diancie's STAB combination, which meaning Pokemon such as Mega Metagross, Ferrothorn, Celesteela, Genesect, Aegislash, and Excadrill can safely switch in and OHKO it with their STAB moves. A special mention goes to Mega Scizor because since it has access to priority Bullet Punch, which isn't affected by Trick Room.

**Grass-types**: Tapu Bulu, Mega Venusaur, and Ferrothorn beat Diancie with their STAB moves and are able to tank Diancie's moves and beat it with their own STAB moves.
