[OVERVIEW]

With access to Shell Smash, Gorebyss is able to serve as a decent setup sweeper and wallbreaker. Its nice base 114 Special Attack, powerful STAB move in Hydro Pump, and various coverage options such as Ice Beam, Hidden Power Grass, and Hidden Power Fire all help Gorebyss in performing its roles. However, its low Speed largely hinders Gorebyss, making it much easier for Choice Scarf users such as Primeape and Togedemaru to revenge kill it, even after a Shell Smash. If Gorebyss has taken enough damage, it can also be revenge killed by priority users such as Skuntank, Kangaskhan, and Hitmonchan. This leads to large competition from Carracosta, which has priority in Aqua Jet to make up for its low Speed, better bulk, Solid Rock, a secondary STAB move in Stone Edge, and the ability to run a mixed set, making it even harder to stop after it sets up a Shell Smash. Despite this, Gorebyss can carve itself a niche thanks to its higher Special Attack and Speed that allow it to not get stopped by certain threats to Carracosta such as Taunt Weezing. Gorebyss also faces some competition from other offensive Water-types in general, such as Floatzel and Swanna, due to their higher base Speed stats as well as Swanna's additional utility in its access to Defog and resistance to Fighting-type attacks, often allowing them to support their team better throughout the game.

Moves
========

Shell Smash boosts Gorebyss’s Special Attack and Speed at the cost of lowering its defenses, allowing Gorebyss to sweep and break through teams. Hydro Pump serves as its STAB attack and hits Fire- and Rock-types such as Magmortar and Regirock for super effective damage. It also allows Gorebyss to use Hydro Vortex to break through specially bulky Pokemon such as Miltank, Hitmonchan, and Articuno more easily as well as bypass Hydro Pump’s low accuracy. Ice Beam gives Gorebyss coverage against Grass- and Dragon-types such as Lilligant, Alolan Exeggutor, Drampa, and Altaria, which resist Hydro Pump. Hidden Power Grass hits Water-types such as Gastrodon, and can 2HKO other bulky Water-types such as Lanturn and Poliwrath after a Shell Smash. However, if running a Timid nature, Gorebyss can often fail to 2HKO Lanturn. Hidden Power Fire is an alternate option that gives Gorebyss a way to hit Jynx as well as certain Grass-types that only take neutral damage from Ice Beam, such as Ferroseed and Abomasnow. Substitute is another choice for the last slot, which protects Gorebyss from status moves such as Thunder Wave and Toxic, giving it a better matchup against special walls such as Clefairy and Audino. If Gorebyss can maintain its Substitute, it can also grant a layer of protection against Choice Scarf users such as Primeape. It is also notable that, when using a White Herb, Gorebyss can use Substitute on Ferroseed and essentially use it as setup fodder, as Ferroseed fails to break Gorebyss's Substitute with Gyro Ball when Gorebyss is at neutral defenses, even with +2 Speed.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in Special Attack and Speed give Gorebyss offensive presence, which it appreciates when sweeping. Modest is the preferred nature, as it allows Gorebyss to do as much damage as possible and break through bulkier foes such as Lanturn and Miltank more easily. Timid is an alternate option that allows Gorebyss to outspeed a few more Pokemon, most notably Timid Choice Scarf Mesprit. However, this is much more situational overall, as Gorebyss prefers the additional damage output when attempting to sweep. Waterium Z gives Gorebyss an accurate, one-time nuke, which is specifically useful for taking on specially defensive Pokemon such as Clefairy and Audino. Alternatively, White Herb negates the lowered defenses from Shell Smash, which allows Gorebyss to better take hits from faster Pokemon and priority users such as Primeape and Skuntank when sweeping, making it more difficult to offensively stop once it sets up. However, be wary that the White Herb can be unintentionally activated through other means such as Intimidate. Although neither of Gorebyss’s abilities benefit it in most occasions, Swift Swim gives it a better matchup against rain teams and allows it to function decently well on said rain teams.

Usage Tips
========

As a sweeper, Gorebyss can come in late-game, after its potential threats have been taken care of or at least crippled so it can ideally set up and sweep, potentially closing out the match. These threats include Choice Scarf users such as Primeape and Pyroar and bulkier Pokemon such as Lanturn and Clefairy, especially if Gorebyss is not running Waterium Z. When being used as a wallbreaker, Gorebyss should be used mid- to late-game, using its high Special Attack and the Shell Smash boosts to break down bulkier foes such as Regirock and Palossand so that a teammate can come in and have an easier time cleaning the match afterwards. Gorebyss should be brought onto the field through a slow pivot such as Eelektross's Volt Switch or Mesprit's U-turn or a Memento user such as Alolan Dugtrio in order to maintain as much health as possible. Gorebyss should set up against Pokemon that can do little to it, such as Weezing, as they are forced out and can be used as setup fodder. If a Pokemon is Choice locked into a resisted move, such as Choice Specs Mesprit locked into Ice Beam, Gorebyss can also use it to set up a Shell Smash. However, be wary that they can do a decent amount of damage, so Gorebyss should often only use it to set up one Shell Smash at most.

Team Options
========

Wallbreakers such as Passimian, Magmortar, and Drampa can break down the bulky Pokemon that give Gorebyss trouble, such as Type: Null and Ferroseed, and Gorebyss can clean up for them in return. Faster Pokemon such as Archeops and Pyroar appreciate Gorebyss's ability to serve as a wallbreaker, as it can help weaken Pokemon that can stop them such as Regirock, Palossand, and Weezing before they come in to clean. Entry hazard setters such as Mesprit, Regirock, Ferroseed, and Weezing can also help against bulky foes like Type: Null and Miltank, as the residual damage can potentially whittle them down to the point where Gorebyss can KO them. Mesprit can also support Gorebyss with a slow U-turn, which can serve as a reliable way to get Gorebyss on the field, or with Healing Wish, which can potentially give Gorebyss a second chance to set up and sweep. Regirock and Ferroseed can also provide support in Thunder Wave, which can cripple Choice Scarf users such as Primeape and Pyroar and allow Gorebyss to outspeed them after a Shell Smash. Choice Scarf users can also be crippled by Knock Off users, such as Gurdurr, Alolan Raticate, and Passimian. Knock Off can furthermore be used as a way to cripple certain bulky Pokemon, such as Assault Vest holders like Eelektross and Eviolite holders like Clefairy. Eelektross is a good Knock Off user, slow pivot, and check to certain Choice Scarf users that can revenge kill Gorebyss, such as Pyroar and Oricorio-G. Gorebyss does not like to be whittled down by entry hazards because it needs to stay as healthy as possible in order to sweep, so it appreciates Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Skuntank, Hitmonchan, and Lurantis to remove the hazards. Memento users such as Alolan Dugtrio and Jumpluff can bring Gorebyss without it having to take any damage in the process. They also weaken the opposing Pokemon, making it more easy for Gorebyss to set up a Shell Smash on them. Dual screen users such as Meowstic-M, which also has access to Thunder Wave, can also give Gorebyss an easier time setting up. Gorebyss can be used on rain teams, in which Rain Dance users such as Volbeat and Liepard and other rain sweepers such as Ludicolo and Kabutops are appreciated.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Surf can be a more reliable STAB option over Hydro Pump due to its higher accuracy, but it can be simply too weak at times, and it makes it easier for specially defensive Pokemon to wall Gorebyss. Scald is another option with even less power than Surf but with a chance to burn foes. Life Orb allows Gorebyss to constantly deal out a little more damage as it sweeps, but it can wear Gorebyss down over time, and it can leave Gorebyss more vulnerable against walls, faster foes, and priority users, making it generally less reliable than the other item options. Signal Beam is a coverage option that hits Grass-types, including Abomasnow and Ludicolo, which are neutral to Ice Beam, as well as Psychic-types such as Jynx, but this coverage is already accomplished by Hidden Power Fire, and if ran over Ice Beam, it leaves Gorebyss walled by Dragon-types such as Drampa and Altaria. Finally, Psychic can be run alongside Hidden Power Fire for almost perfect neutral coverage, but this leaves Gorebyss struggling more against certain bulky Water- and Grass-types such as Lanturn and Cradily.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Choice Scarf Users**: Choice Scarf users such as Primeape, Oricorio-G, Pyroar, and Togedemaru can still outspeed and OHKO Gorebyss even after a Shell Smash or with some chip damage if Gorebyss is using White Herb. Choice Scarf Alolan Raichu, Lilligant, Manectric, and Rotom-F are notable, as they can outspeed and OHKO Gorebyss, although they are not very common.

**Bulky Water-types**: Lanturn and Poliwrath can take a hit, even when Gorebyss is at +2, and take little from Hydro Vortex, and they KO Gorebyss with Volt Switch or force it out with Circle Throw, respectively. However, Gorebyss can 2HKO both with +2 Hidden Power Grass. Pyukumuku ignores the stat boosts of Shell Smash thanks to Unaware and can stall Gorebyss with Toxic, but it can be stopped by Substitute. If Gorebyss is not running Hidden Power Grass, Gastrodon can take a hit before retaliating with Toxic or dealing a good amount of damage with Earth Power, but it is 2HKOed by Ice Beam.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: If Gorebyss is not running Waterium Z, certain specially defensive Pokemon such as Eelektross, Type: Null, Audino, and Clefairy can take a hit before KOing Gorebyss with Volt Switch or Return, or crippling it with Toxic or Thunder Wave in order to stop its sweep. Audino and Clefairy can be played around with Substitute. However, even without Waterium Z, they do not appreciate taking a +2 Hydro Pump and can still be KOed in situations with previous damage. Cradily is immune to Hydro Vortex and manages to avoid the OHKO from +2 Ice Beam, if it has not taken too much damage beforehand. In return, it deals a good amount of damage with Giga Drain, even OHKOing Gorebyss if it is at -1. Substitute and Hidden Power Fire can give Ferroseed trouble, which can otherwise take a hit and whittle Gorebyss down with a combination of Leech Seed, Protect, and Gyro Ball and cripple it with a potential Thunder Wave.

**Priority Users**: If Gorebyss has taken a good amount of damage in the process of setting up and sweeping, priority users such as Skuntank, Kangaskhan, Hitmonchan, Alolan Raticate, and Shiftry can come in to KO Gorebyss without having to fear being outsped. This is especially easy if Gorebyss is at -1 defenses.

**Taunt and Encore Users**: Faster Taunt users such as Skuntank, Sableye, and Alolan Persian can stop Gorebyss from being able to set up a Shell Smash, and either switch into a better matchup, cripple it with Thunder Wave, Toxic, or Will-O-Wisp, or go for a KO. However, none of them appreciate taking Hydro Vortex. Certain Pokemon such as Archeops and Pyroar can Taunt Gorebyss, but they can often end up being KOed in the process due to their poor defenses and weakness to Hydro Pump. It is also notable that Taunt does little to nothing after Gorebyss sets up a Shell Smash. Both Liepard and Volbeat can lock Gorebyss into Shell Smash with Encore while not minding the Speed boost due to Prankster, although they must stay wary that Gorebyss can bypass this for one turn using its Z-Move.

========
  • Gorebyss is best when used as a late-game sweeper.

  • i'd mention how it could set up on forced switches
  • If a Choiced Pokemon is locked into a resisted move, such as Banded Floatzel locked into Waterfall or Ice Punch, Gorebyss can also use it to set up a Shell Smash, but be wary that they can do a decent amount of damage, so Gorebyss should only use it to set up one Shell Smash at most.

  • Gorebyss works well on teams in need of a wincon. i feel as though this is more of a usage tip thing
  • Wallbreakers such as Passimian, Magmortar, and Kangaskhan can break down the bulky Pokemon that give Gorebyss trouble, while Gorebyss can clean up for them in return. i feel like special wallbreakers like drampa make more sense
  • Hazard setters such as Mesprit, Regirock, Ferroseed, and Qwilfish can also help against bulky foes, as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes can potentially whittle them down to the wear Gorebyss can pick up the KO.
  • Regirock, Ferroseed, and Qwilfish can also run Thunder Wave, which can cripple Choice Scarf users, and allows Gorebyss to outspeed them after a Shell Smash.
  • Choice Scarf users can also be crippled through Knock Off users, such as Eelektross, Gurdurr, and Passimian. Knock Off can furthermore be used as a way to cripple certain bulky Pokemon, such as Assault Vest holders like Eelektross and Eviolite holders like Clefairy.
  • The previously mentioned Mesprit and Eelektross can also serve as slow pivots, which can take a hit before bringing Gorebyss into a potentially good matchup in which it can set up a Shell Smash.

  • Finally, Psychic is another alternate coverage option that hits Fighting- and Poison-types such as Poliwrath, Roselia, and Muk, which can otherwise wall it, although they are not very common. It can also more reliably KO Pokemon such as Qwilfish, Passimian, and Gurdurr, if you do not wish to risk Hydro Pump missing.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Choice Scarf Users**: After a Shell Smash, Choice Scarf holders such as Primeape, Oricorio-G, Pyroar, and Togedemaru can still outspeed Gorebyss and KO it when combined with the -1 defenses or some additional chip damage if White Herb. Scarfed Alolan Raichu, Lilligant, Manectric, and Rotom-Frost are notable as they can outspeed and OHKO Gorebyss, although they are not very common.

**Encore Users**: Liepard can be brought in against a Gorebyss setting up and Encore it into Shell Smash. It can then pick up the KO or switch out into a Pokemon with more offensive pressure, as Gorebyss sits there hopelessly, unless it switches out, in which it loses its boosts. Scarfed Togedemaru can accomplish similar, but can not outspeed Gorebyss if it manages to set up two Shell Smashes. i'd mention how gorebyss can threaten them with unboosted hydros. also, z hydro goes through encore

**Taunt Users**: Faster Taunt users such as Skuntank, Qwilfish, Sableye, and Alolan Persian can stop Gorebyss from being able to set up a Shell Smash, and either switch into a better matchup, cripple it with Thunder Wave, Toxic, or Will-O-Wisp, or go for a KO. **Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Lanturn and Poliwrath can take a hit, even when Gorebyss is at +2, and take little from Z-Hydro Pump, as they KO Gorebyss with Volt Switch or force it out with Circle Throw, respectively, although both can be 2HKOed by a +2 Hidden Power Grass. Other Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Eelektross, Miltank, and Clefairy can take a hit before KOing Gorebyss with Volt Switch or crippling it with Toxic or Thunder Wave in order to stop its sweep, but are KOed by Z-Hydro Pump from Gorebyss at +2. Ferroseed can take a hit from Gorebyss, and whittle it down with a combination of Leech Seed, Protect, and Gyro Ball, along with cripple it with a potential Thunder Wave. But Gorebyss can take advantage of Ferroseed, and use it as fodder to set up another Shell Smash or two. this should be a lot higher up

(don't mention signal beam at all, it's a useless piece of coverage that hits nothing) (it's not that difficult to stop actually, you make it seem like it's something like carracosta)
  • However, its low Speed largely hinders Gorebyss, making it much easier for Choice Scarf Users such as Primeape and Togedemaru to revenge kill, even after a Shell Smash. Furthermore, especially at -1 defenses, priority users such as Skuntank and Kangaskhan can also serve as revenge killers. (I wouldn't say serve as. say they're able to revenge kill. it has to be chipped and it's worth mentioning this is only applicable to either the z-move set or if it has already used up its white herb)
  • This leads to large competition from Carracosta, who on top of having priority in Aqua Jet to make up for its low Speed, also has better bulk, secondary STAB in Stone Edge, and the ability to run a mixed set, making it even harder to stop after it sets up a Shell Smash. (carracosta also has solid rock too)
  • But this does not stop other faster Taunt users, such as Skuntank, Qwilfish, and Alolan Persian from being able to stop Gorebyss in its tracks, as can Encore users such as Liepard. (well, at +2 only liepard can encore it. unless you're predicting the shell smash?)

  • Gorebyss also faces some competition in other offensive Water-types in general, such as Floatzel and Swanna, due to their higher natural speeds and less dependability on setting on, often allowing them to support their team better throughout the game. (hmm. I wouldn't say it really faces competition directly from them because it functions differently from both. however, the previously mentioned floatzel and swanna do compete for the actual water slot of a team. remove the part about setting up because swanna cant really and floatzel actually has a set with a dedicated set up move)

  • 252 EVs in Special Attack and Speed gives Gorebyss offensive pressure (I know I don't usually gp but I don't think this quite makes sense?), maximizing its sweeping potential. Modest is the preferred nature, as it allows Gorebyss to do as much damage as possible, as well as break through bulkier foes more easily.
  • Timid is an alternate nature option, which allows Gorebyss to outspeed a few more Pokemon than Modest, most notably Scarfed Timid Mesprit. However, it is much more situational, and can leave Gorebyss underwhelming at times. (underwhelming against what? quite vague overall)
  • Waterium Z gives Gorebyss a one-time nuke, which is specifically useful for specially defensive Pokemon such as Eelektross, Clefairy, and Miltank (maybe mention something else? type: null is a great example or maybe audino). It can also serve as a more reliable STAB, compared to Hydro Pump’s somewhat low accuracy. (combine and just say it gives it a perfectly accurate nuke or something along those lines)
  • White Herb negates the lowered defenses from Shell Smash, which allows Gorebyss to better take hits from faster Pokemon and priority users when sweeping, making it more difficult to offensively stop once it sets up. (however white herb can be activated by things like intimidate and such)
  • Although neither of Gorebyss’s abilities benefit it in most occasions, Swift Swim gives it a better matchup against Rain teams. (also means it can function on some rain teams)
Usage Tips
========
  • Throughout the game, try to weaken, if not straight out KO, bulkier Pokemon such as Lanturn and Eelektross, who can potentially stop Gorebyss from sweeping, especially if Gorebyss isn’t running Waterium-Z.
  • Also try to cripple (choice) Scarf users such as Primeape and Pyroar through Knock Off or Thunder Wave, so that they can’t outspeed and KO Gorebyss as it tries to sweep. (both these two are much more suitable for team options. neither explain what gorebyss is doing which is the point of team options)
  • Gorebyss should be brought on to the field through a slow pivot such as Eelektross's Volt Switch, Mesprit's U-turn, or Alolan Dugtrio's Memento, since it does not appreciate having to take attacks, as they can make Gorebyss easier to revenge kill, if not outright KO it.
  • Gorebyss should set up against Pokemon that can do little to it, such as Weezing, as they are forced out or can be used as set up fodder.
I'm confused? this does very little in the way of telling me how to actually use it, when to use it, etc. you only explain how to set it up and not what it's doing. this needs reworked heavily

Team Options
========
  • Wallbreakers such as Passimian, Magmortar, and Drampa can break down the bulky Pokemon that give Gorebyss trouble, while Gorebyss can clean up for them in return. (examples for both sides)
  • Hazard setters such as Mesprit, Regirock, Ferroseed, and Qwilfish can also help against bulky foes, as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes can potentially whittle them down to the wear Gorebyss can pick up the KO. (I wouldn't use qwilfish and gorebyss on the same team, except on a weird rain team) (again vague. mesprit offers slow uturn, healing wish, etc.)
  • Regirock, Ferroseed, and Qwilfish can also run Thunder Wave, which can cripple Choice Scarf users, and allows Gorebyss to outspeed them after a Shell Smash. (all three are already mentioned in the previous section so no need to repeat)
(you menton eel so much o_o)
  • The previously mentioned Mesprit and Eelektross (o_o) can also serve as slow pivots, which can take a hit before bringing Gorebyss into a good matchup in which it can set up a Shell Smash. Mesprit can furthermore give Gorebyss support in Healing Wish, which can potentially give it a second chance to set up and sweep. (merge with the previous points about them)
  • Memento users such as Alolan Dugtrio and Jumpluff can similarly bring Gorebyss without it having to take any damage in the process, and also weaken the opponent, making it more easy for Gorebyss to set up a Shell Smash.
again this needs reworked a bit. pokemon are repeated and detail is rather lacking on both sides. also no mention of hazard removal is weird

  • Life Orb allows Gorebyss to constantly deal out a little more damage as it sweeps, can wear it down over time, and can leave it more vulnerable against walls, faster opponents, and priority users. (just not as reliable)
  • Running Hidden Power Fire instead of Hidden Power Grass allows +2 Gorebyss to OHKO Ferroseed, although it is overall very situational compared to the rest of Gorebyss’s coverage, and leaves it completely walled by many Water-types. (added to the main set so remove)
(doesn't +2 z move nuke all three of the last pokemon?)

Checks and Counters
===================

(mention substitute for specially defensive pokemon and how ferroseed struggles with the hidden power fire versions) (lant isn't always 2hko'd with hidden power grass by the way, depending on the set)

Certain Pokemon such as Archeops and Pyroar can Taunt Gorebyss, but often end up being KOed in the process due to their poor defenses and weakness to Hydro Pump It is also notable that Taunt does little to nothing after Gorebyss sets up a Shell Smash. (none of the taunt users want to take a z move is worth mentioning)

**Priority Users**: If Gorebyss as taken a good amount of damage in the process of setting up and sweeping, priority users such as Skuntank, Kangaskhan, Gurdurr, and Hitmonchan can come in to pick up the KO without having to fear being outsped. (assault vest hitmonchan can tank a +2 hydro pump if it has already used its z move or if it is the white herb version)

**Encore Users**: Liepard can be brought in against a Gorebyss setting up and Encore it into Shell Smash. It can use these turns to pick up the KO, as Gorebyss sits there hopelessly, unless it switches out, in which it loses its boosts. However, be wary that Gorebyss can bypass this for one turn by using its Z-move, on top of Encore's somewhat short span. If Gorebyss is not running its Z-move, Scarfed Togedemaru can accomplish similar, but can not outspeed Gorebyss if it manages to set up two Shell Smashes. Gorebyss can also threaten both with a non-boosted Hydro Pump. (scarf togedemaru is clicking zing zap)

[OVERVIEW]
  • With access to Shell Smash, Gorebyss is able to serve as a decent setup sweeper in PU’s meta, as well as both a wincon and a wallbreaker.
  • This is combined with a nice base 114 Special Attack, along with a powerful STAB in Hydro Pump and various coverage options such as Ice Beam, Hidden Power Grass, and Hidden Power Fire. (say that icebeam is for bulky grasses like lurantis and hp fire is for ferroseed)
  • However, its low Speed largely hinders Gorebyss, making it much easier for Choice Scarf Users such as Primeape and Togedemaru to revenge kill, even after a Shell Smash.
  • This leads to large competition from Carracosta, who on top of having priority in Aqua Jet to make up for its low Speed, also has better bulk on top of Solid Rock, secondary STAB in Stone Edge, and the ability to run a mixed set, making it even harder to stop after it sets up a Shell Smash. Despite this, Gorebyss can carve a niche thanks to its higher Special Attack, as well as a higher Speed that allows it to not get stopped by certain threats to Carracosta such as Taunt Weezing.
  • But this does not stop other faster Taunt users, such as Skuntank, Sableye, and Alolan Persian from being able to stop Gorebyss in its tracks, but don't like taking even an unboosted Hydro Pump. (rephrase this)
  • Certain Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Lanturn, Eelektross, and Clefairy can also give Gorebyss trouble, as they take a hit and KO or cripple(say clef cripples it with twave) Gorebyss in return, although the last two do not appreciate having to take a +2 Hydro Pump, and cannot take a +2 Hydro Vortex.
  • Gorebyss also faces some competition in other offensive Water-types in general, such as Floatzel and Swanna, due to their higher natural speeds , often allowing them to support their team better throughout the game.

Moves
========
  • Shell Smash boosts Gorebyss’s Special Attack and Speed, at the cost of lowering its defenses, allowing Gorebyss to sweep and break through teams.
  • Hydro Pump serves as its STAB coverage, and hits Fire- and Rock-types such as Magmortar and Regirock for super effective damage, as well as having a powerful Z-move that allows Gorebyss to more easily break through specially defensive walls such as Type: Null and Miltank. (mention audino over type null since null is still kinda hard to break w/o the boost)
  • Ice Beam gives Gorebyss coverage against Grass- and Dragon-types such as Lilligant, Alolan Exeggutor, Drampa, and Altaria, which resist Hydro Pump.
  • Hidden Power Grass hits Water-types such as Gastrodon, and can pick up a 2HKO on other bulkier Water-types such as Lanturn and Poliwrath after a Shell Smash.
  • Hidden Power Fire gives Gorebyss a way to hit Jynx, as well as certain Grass-types that only take neutral damage from Ice Beam, such as Ferroseed and Abomasnow.
  • Substitute protects Gorebyss from status conditions such as Thunder Wave and Toxic, giving it a better matchup against special defense walls such as Clefairy. If Gorebyss can maintain its Substitute, it can also make it more difficult to be revenge killed by Choice Scarf users such as Primeape.
Set Details
========
  • 252 EVs in Special Attack and Speed gives Gorebyss maximes its sweeping potential. (first sentence does not make sense) Modest is the preferred nature, as it allows Gorebyss to do as much damage as possible, as well as break through bulkier foes more easily. (mention that modest can help break clef and miltank easier)
  • Timid is an alternate nature option, which allows Gorebyss to outspeed a few more Pokemon than Modest, most notably Scarfed Timid Mesprit. However, it is much more situational, and can leave Gorebyss underwhelming at times, such as +2 Hidden Power Grass often missing out on 2HKOing Lanturn with Hidden Power Grass.
  • Waterium Z gives Gorebyss an accurate, one-time nuke, which is specifically useful for specially defensive Pokemon such as Clefairy and Audino.
  • White Herb negates the lowered defenses from Shell Smash, which allows Gorebyss to better take hits from faster Pokemon and priority users (mention examples) when sweeping, making it more difficult to offensively stop once it sets up, but can be unintentionally activated through other means such as Intimidate. ( the last part of this sentence seems weird)
  • Although neither of Gorebyss’s abilities benefit it in most occasions, Swift Swim gives it a better matchup against Rain teams, as well as allows it to function decently well on said Rain teams. (remove this second part)
Usage Tips
========
  • As a sweeper, Gorebyss can come in late-game, after its potential threats have been taken care of, in order to set up and sweep, and potentially clean up the match. (examples like clef or faster scarf usersbeing weak/removed would be good here)
  • As a wallbreaker, Gorebyss is able to take advantage of its high Special Attack stat and the Shell Smash boosts mid- to late-game, by breaking down the opposing team, so that a teammate can come in and have an easier time cleaning up the match afterwards. (how is this a usage tip??)
  • Throughout the game, try to weaken, if not straight out KO, bulkier Pokemon such as Lanturn and Eelektross, who can potentially stop Gorebyss from sweeping, especially if Gorebyss isn’t running Waterium-Z. (? you pretty much said this w/o examples in your first bullet)
("making gorebyss easier to rk" only applies to dugtrio's memento support so reword this. say that eel/mesp get it on the field safely)
  • Gorebyss should set up against Pokemon that can do little to it, such as Weezing, as they are forced out or can be used as set up fodder.
(mention something else like swanna being locked into a water move since banded float isnt used)
Team Options
========
  • Wallbreakers such as Passimian, Magmortar, and Drampa can break down the bulky Pokemon that give Gorebyss trouble, such as Type: Null and Miltank, while Gorebyss can clean up for them in return. (they also break clef)
  • Faster Pokemon such as Archeops and Pyroar appreciate Gorebyss's ability to serve as a wallbreaker, as it can help against Pokemon such as Regirock, Palossand, and Weezing before they come in to clean up the match. (archeops also appreciates ferro/gastro being removed while pyroar likes clef being weak)
  • Hazard setters such as Mesprit, Regirock, and Ferroseed can also help against bulky foes(like?), as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes can potentially whittle them down to the wear Gorebyss can pick up the KO. Mesprit can also support Gorebyss as a slow U-turn user, which can serve as a reliable way to get Gorebyss on the field, or with Healing Wish, which can potentially give Gorebyss a second chance to set up and sweep. Regirock and Ferroseed can also provide support in Thunder Wave, which can cripple Choice Scarf users, and allows Gorebyss to outspeed them after a Shell Smash. (mention the scarf users)
  • Choice Scarf users can also be crippled through Knock Off users, such as Gurdurr, Alolan Raticate, and Passimian. Knock Off can furthermore be used as a way to cripple certain bulky Pokemon, such as Assault Vest holders like Eelektross and Eviolite holders like Clefairy. Eelectross is another good Knock Off user, as well as being able to serve as a slow pivot. (eel also checks most of the special scarfers that can rk gorebyss like pyroar/liligant/oriocrio-g)
  • Gorebyss does not like to be whittled down (by entry hazards), for maximum sweeping potential, so it appreciates hazard removal users such as Skuntank, Hitmonchan, and Luantis.
  • Memento users such as Alolan Dugtrio and Jumpluff can similarly bring Gorebyss without it having to take any damage in the process, and also weaken the opponent, making it more easy for Gorebyss to set up a Shell Smash.
  • Gorebyss can be used on Rain teams, in which Rain Dance users such as Volbeat and Liepard, as well as other Rain abusers such as Ludicolo and Kabutops are appreciated.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Surf can be a more reliable STAB option over Hydro Pump, but can be simply too weak at times, and makes it easier for specially defensive Pokemon to wall it. Scald is similar, except with even less power, although a niche in its chance to Burn the opponent.
  • Life Orb allows Gorebyss to constantly deal out a little more damage as it sweeps, can wear it down over time, and can leave it more vulnerable against walls, faster opponents, and priority users, making it generally less reliable.
  • Signal Beam is a coverage option that hits Grass-types, including Abomasnow and Ludicolo, who are neutral to Ice Beam, as well as Pyschic-types such as Jynx, but this coverage is already accomplished by Hidden Power Fire, and if ran over Ice Beam, leaves Gorebyss walled by Dragon-types such as Drampa and Altaria.
  • Finally, Psychic is another alternate coverage option that hits Fighting- and Poison-types such as Poliwrath, Roselia, and Muk, which can otherwise wall it, although they are not very common. It can also more reliably KO Pokemon such as Passimian and Gurdurr, if you do not wish to risk Hydro Pump missing or using up your Z-move.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Choice Scarf Users**: After a Shell Smash, Choice Scarf holders such as Primeape, Oricorio-G, Pyroar, and Togedemaru can still outspeed Gorebyss and KO it when combined with the -1 defenses or some additional chip damage, if White Herb. Scarfed Alolan Raichu, Lilligant, Manectric, and Rotom-Frost are notable as they can outspeed and OHKO Gorebyss, although they are not very common. (remove scarf alolan raichu, that is a terrible set)

Other Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Eelektross, Type: Null, Miltank, Audino, and Clefairy can take a hit before KOing Gorebyss with Volt Switch or Return, or crippling it with Toxic or Thunder Wave in order to stop its sweep. However, they fear a Z-Hydro Pump from Gorebyss at +2, and Miltank, Audino, and Clefairy can be stopped by Substitute. If Gorebyss is not the Hidden Power Fire variant, Ferroseed can take a hit and whittle Gorebyss down with a combination of Leech Seed, Protect, and Gyro Ball, along with cripple it with a potential Thunder Wave. But Gorebyss can take advantage of Ferroseed, and use it as fodder to set up another Shell Smash or two.

**Taunt Users**: Faster Taunt users such as Skuntank, Sableye, and Alolan Persian can stop Gorebyss from being able to set up a Shell Smash, and either switch into a better matchup, cripple it with Thunder Wave, Toxic, or Will-O-Wisp, or go for a KO. However, none of them appreciate taking a Z-Hydro Pump. Certain Pokemon such as Archeops and Pyroar can Taunt Gorebyss, but often end up being KOed in the process due to their poor defenses and weakness to Hydro Pump. It is also notable that Taunt does little to nothing after Gorebyss sets up a Shell Smash. (i would remove the point about arch/pyroar tbh)

**Priority Users**: If Gorebyss as taken a good amount of damage in the process of setting up and sweeping, priority users such as Skuntank, Kangaskhan, Gurdurr, Alolan Raticate, and Shiftry can come in to pick up the KO without having to fear being outsped. This is especially easy if Gorebyss is at -1 defenses.

**Liepard**: Liepard can be brought in against a Gorebyss setting up and Encore it into Shell Smash. It can use these turns to pick up the KO, as Gorebyss sits there hopelessly, unless it switches out, in which it loses its boosts. However, be wary that Gorebyss can bypass this for one turn by using its Z-move, on top of Encore's somewhat short span.

Set Details

  • 252 EVs in Special Attack and Speed gives Gorebyss offensive pressure, which it appreciates when sweeping.
  • Modest is the preferred nature, as it allows Gorebyss to do as much damage as possible, as well as break through bulkier foes such as Clefairy and Miltank more easily.

Usage Tips

  • As a sweeper, Gorebyss can come in late-game, after its potential threats have been taken care of or at least crippled, in order to set up and sweep, and potentially clean up the match. These threats include Choice Scarf users such as Primeape and Pyroar and bulkier Pokemon such as Lanturn and Clefairy, especially if Gorebyss is not running the Waterium-Z.
  • When being used as a wallbreaker, Gorebyss should be used mid- to late-game, using its high Special Attack and the Shell Smash boosts to break down the opposing team, so that a teammate can come in and have an easier time cleaning up the match afterwards.
  • Gorebyss should be brought on to the field through a slow pivot such as Eelektross's Volt Switch, Mesprit's U-turn, or Alolan Dugtrio's Memento, since they can get it onto the field safely, as taking damage in the process of switching in would make Gorebyss easier to stop.
  • Gorebyss should set up against Pokemon that can do little to it, such as Weezing, as they are forced out or can be used as set up fodder.
  • If a Choiced Pokemon is locked into a resisted move, such as Choice Scarf Swanna being locked into Liquidation (can't it just switch out and revenge kill you after the sac?), Gorebyss can also use it to set up a Shell Smash, but be wary that they can do a decent amount of damage, so Gorebyss should only use it to set up one Shell Smash at most.
Team Options
========
  • Wallbreakers such as Passimian, Magmortar, and Drampa can break down the bulky Pokemon that give Gorebyss trouble, such as Type: Null and Miltank (miltank isnt a big problem imo, with +2 waterium it always dies and without twave it has to get lucky against white herb since hydro does a ton), while Gorebyss can clean up for them in return.
  • Faster Pokemon such as Archeops and Pyroar appreciate Gorebyss's ability to serve as a wallbreaker, as it can help weaken Pokemon that can stop them such as Regirock, Palossand, and Weezing before they come in to clean up the match.
  • Hazard setters such as Mesprit, Regirock, and Ferroseed can also help against bulky foes like Eelektross and Miltank, as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes can potentially whittle them down to the point where Gorebyss can pick up the KO. Mesprit can also support Gorebyss as a slow U-turn user, which can serve as a reliable way to get Gorebyss on the field, or with Healing Wish, which can potentially give Gorebyss a second chance to set up and sweep. Regirock and Ferroseed can also provide support in Thunder Wave, which can cripple Choice Scarf users such as Primeape and Pyroar, and allows Gorebyss to outspeed them after a Shell Smash.

Knock Off can furthermore be used as a way to cripple certain bulky Pokemon, such as Assault Vest holders like Eelektross and Eviolite holders like Clefairy. Eelectross is another good Knock Off user, as well as being able to serve as a slow pivot. Eelektross can also help against certain Choice Scarf users that can revenge kill Gorebyss, such as Pyroar and Oricorio-G.
  • Gorebyss does not like to be whittled down by hazards, to have an easier time setting up and sweeping, so it appreciates Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Skuntank, Hitmonchan, and Lurantis to remove the hazards.

Shell Smash boosts Gorebyss’s Special Attack and Speed, at the cost of lowering its defenses, allowing Gorebyss to sweep and break through teams. Hydro Pump serves as its STAB coverage, and hits Fire- and Rock-types such as Magmortar and Regirock for super effective damage, as well as having a powerful Z-move that allows Gorebyss to more easily break through specially bulky Pokemon such as Miltank, Hitmonchan, and Articuno. briefly mention accuracy issues
Ice Beam gives Gorebyss coverage against Grass- and Dragon-types such as Lilligant, Alolan Exeggutor, Drampa, and Altaria, which resist Hydro Pump. Hidden Power Grass hits Water-types such as Gastrodon, and can pick up a 2HKO on other bulkier Water-types such as Lanturn and Poliwrath after a Shell Smash. Hidden Power Fire is an alternate option gives Gorebyss a way to hit Jynx, as well as certain Grass-types that only take neutral damage from Ice Beam, such as Ferroseed and Abomasnow. Substitute is another choice for the last slot, which protects Gorebyss from status conditions such as Thunder Wave and Toxic, giving it a better matchup against special defense walls such as Clefairy and Audino. If Gorebyss can maintain its Substitute, it can also make it more difficult to be revenge killed by Choice Scarf users such as Primeape. It is also notable that when combined with the White Herb, Gorebyss can use Substitute on Ferroseed and essentially use it as setup fodder, as Ferroseed fails to break the Substitute with Gyro Ball when Gorebyss is at neutral defenses, even with the +2 Speed.

252 EVs in Special Attack and Speed gives Gorebyss offensive pressure, which it appreciates when sweeping. Modest is the preferred nature, as it allows Gorebyss to do as much damage as possible, as well as break through bulkier foes such as Clefairy and Miltank more easily. Timid is an alternate nature option, which allows Gorebyss to outspeed a few more Pokemon than Modest, most notably Scarfed Timid Mesprit. However, it is much more situational, and can leave Gorebyss underwhelming at times, such as +2 Hidden Power Grass often missing out on 2HKOing Lanturn with Hidden Power Grass. missing out on 2HKOing Lanturn isn't a great example because Gorebyss needs to OHKO things. Is there any better example you can find? Waterium Z gives Gorebyss an accurate, one-time nuke, which is specifically useful for specially defensive Pokemon such as Clefairy and Audino. White Herb negates the lowered defenses from Shell Smash, which allows Gorebyss to better take hits from faster Pokemon and priority users such as Primeape and Skuntank when sweeping, making it more difficult to offensively stop once it sets up. But be wary that the White Herb can be unintentionally activated through other means such as Intimidate. Although neither of Gorebyss’s abilities benefit it in most occasions, Swift Swim gives it a better matchup against Rain teams, as well as allows it to function decently well on said Rain teams.

Usage Tips
========

As a sweeper, Gorebyss can come in late-game, after its potential threats have been taken care of or at least crippled. This is so it can ideally manage set up and sweep, and potentially clean up the match. These threats include Choice Scarf users such as Primeape and Pyroar and bulkier Pokemon such as Lanturn and Clefairy, especially if Gorebyss is not running the Waterium-Z. When being used as a wallbreaker, Gorebyss should be used mid- to late-game, using its high Special Attack and the Shell Smash boosts to break down the opposing team, specifically bulkier foes such as Regirock and Palossand, so that a teammate can come in and have an easier time cleaning up the match afterwards. Gorebyss should be brought onto the field through a slow pivot such as Eelektross's Volt Switch, Mesprit's U-turn, or Alolan Dugtrio's Memento this is good but I wouldn't really call Memento a slow pivot, since they can get it onto the field safely, as taking damage in the process of switching in would make Gorebyss easier to stop. Gorebyss should set up against Pokemon that can do little to it, such as Weezing, as they are forced out or can be used as set up fodder. If a Choiced Pokemon is locked into a resisted move, such as Choice Band Floatzel being locked into Waterfall try Choice Specs Mesprit locked into Ice Beam, it's a more relevant example, Gorebyss can also use it to set up a Shell Smash, but be wary that they can do a decent amount of damage, so Gorebyss should often only use it to set up one Shell Smash at most.

Team Options
========

Wallbreakers such as Passimian, Magmortar, and Drampa can break down the bulky Pokemon that give Gorebyss trouble, such as Type: Null and Articuno cuno isn't the best example in this scenario, maybe Ferroseed, while Gorebyss can clean up for them in return. Faster Pokemon such as Archeops and Pyroar appreciate Gorebyss's ability to serve as a wallbreaker, as it can help weaken Pokemon that can stop them such as Regirock, Palossand, and Weezing before they come in to clean up the match. Hazard setters such as Mesprit, Regirock, Ferroseed, and Weezing can also help against bulky foes like Type: Null and Miltank, as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes can potentially whittle them down to the point where Gorebyss can pick up the KO. Choice Scarf users can also be crippled through Knock Off users, such as Gurdurr, Alolan Raticate, and Passimian. Knock Off can furthermore be used as a way to cripple certain bulky Pokemon, such as Assault Vest holders like Eelektross and Eviolite holders like Clefairy. Eelectross is another good Knock Off user, as well as being able to serve as a slow pivot, and can also help against certain Choice Scarf users that can revenge kill Gorebyss, such as Pyroar and Oricorio-G. Gorebyss does not like to be whittled down by hazards, to have an easier time setting up and sweeping, so it appreciates Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Skuntank, Hitmonchan, and Lurantis to remove the hazards. Memento users such as Alolan Dugtrio and Jumpluff can bring Gorebyss without it having to take any damage in the process, and also weaken the opponent, making it more easy for Gorebyss to set up a Shell Smash on them. give a small mention to dual screens and Meowstic Gorebyss can be used on Rain teams, in which Rain Dance users such as Volbeat and Liepard, as well as other Rain abusers such as Ludicolo and Kabutops are appreciated.

Other Options
=============

Surf can be a more reliable STAB option over Hydro Pump due to its higher accuracy, but can be simply too weak at times, and makes it easier for specially defensive Pokemon to wall Gorebyss. Scald is similar, except with even less power, although a niche in its chance to Burn the opponent. Life Orb allows Gorebyss to constantly deal out a little more damage as it sweeps, but can wear it down over time, and can leave Gorebyss more vulnerable against walls, faster opponents, and priority users, making it generally less reliable. Signal Beam is a coverage option that hits Grass-types, including Abomasnow and Ludicolo, who are neutral to Ice Beam, as well as Pyschic-types such as Jynx, but this coverage is already accomplished by Hidden Power Fire, and if ran over Ice Beam, leaves Gorebyss walled by Dragon-types such as Drampa and Altaria. Finally, Psychic is another alternate coverage option that hits Fighting- and Poison-types such as Poliwrath, Roselia, and Muk, which can otherwise wall it, although they are not very common. It can also more reliably KO Pokemon such as Passimian and Gurdurr, if you do not wish to risk Hydro Pump missing or using up your Z-move. the idea behind Psychic is more that Psychic + HP Fire is almost perfect coverage than about hitting specific targets. However this coverage lets it unable to KO certain bulky grasses and bulky waters (ask Anty for help about this since he likes Psychic)

Checks and Counters
===================

Poliwrath doesn't count as a specially defensive pokemon and is honestly not that relevant so it's not necessary to mention. However, what you could do is make a section for Bulky Waters. This covers Lanturn, Poliwrath, Gastrodon (if no HP Grass), and Pyukumuku (who doesn't qualify as a SpD pokemon either). Pyukumuku ignores the stat boosts of Shell Smash thanks to Unaware, and can stall Gorebyss with Toxic, but can be stopped by Substitute. Substitute, as well as Hidden Power Fire, can also give Ferroseed trouble, which can otherwise take a hit and whittle Gorebyss down with a combination of Leech Seed, Protect, and Gyro Ball, along with cripple it with a potential Thunder Wave. If Gorebyss is not running Waterium-Z, certain Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Eelektross, Type: Null, Audino, and Clefairy can take a hit before KOing Gorebyss with Volt Switch or Return, or crippling it with Toxic or Thunder Wave in order to stop its sweep. Audino and Clefairy can also be stopped by played around with Substitute.

Certain Pokemon such as Archeops and Pyroar can Taunt Gorebyss, but can often end up being KOed in the process due to their poor defenses and weakness to Hydro Pump. It is also notable that Taunt does little to nothing after Gorebyss sets up a Shell Smash.

However, be wary that Gorebyss can bypass this for one turn by using its Z-move, on top of Encore's somewhat short span.

remove this and change Taunt users to Taunt and Encore. Give a mention to Liepard and Volbeat for Prankster, but no need for a long explanation as they aren't very common

Hidden Power Fire is an alternate option that gives Gorebyss a way to hit Jynx (RC) as well as certain Grass-types that only take neutral damage from Ice Beam, such as Ferroseed and Abomasnow. 252 EVs in Special Attack and Speed give Gorebyss offensive presence, which it appreciates when sweeping. Modest is the preferred nature, as it allows Gorebyss to do as much damage as possible and break through bulkier foes such as Clefairy and Miltank more easily. Timid is an alternate nature option, which that allows Gorebyss to outspeed a few more Pokemon than with a Modest nature, most notably Timid Choice Scarf Mesprit.

Usage Tips

As a sweeper, Gorebyss can come in late-game, after its potential threats have been taken care of or at least crippled so it can ideally set up and sweep, potentially closing out the match. These threats include Choice Scarf users such as Primeape and Pyroar and bulkier Pokemon such as Lanturn and Clefairy, especially if Gorebyss is not running Waterium Z. This is so it can ideally set up and sweep, potentially cleaning the match. If a Pokemon is Choice locked (RH) into a resisted move, such as Choice Specs Mesprit locked into Ice Beam, Gorebyss can also use it to set up a Shell Smash. However, be wary that they can do a decent amount of damage, so Gorebyss should often only use it to set up one Shell Smash at most.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard setters such as Mesprit, Regirock, Ferroseed, and Weezing can also help against bulky foes like Type: Null and Miltank, as Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes the residual damage can potentially whittle them down to the point where Gorebyss can KO them. They also weaken the opponent opposing Pokemon, making it more easy for Gorebyss to set up a Shell Smash on them. Dual screen users such as Meowstic-M, which also has access to Thunder Wave, can also give Gorebyss an easier time setting up. Meowstic-M also has access to Thunder Wave. Gorebyss can be used on rain teams, in which Rain Dance users such as Volbeat and Liepard and other rain sweepers such as Ludicolo and Kabutops are appreciated.

Other Options
=============

Surf can be a more reliable STAB option over Hydro Pump due to its higher accuracy, but it can be simply too weak at times, and it makes it easier for specially defensive Pokemon to wall Gorebyss. Scald is another option with even less power than Surf but with a chance to burn foes. Life Orb allows Gorebyss to constantly deal out a little more damage as it sweeps, but it can wear Gorebyss down over time, and it can leave Gorebyss more vulnerable against walls, faster opponents foes, and priority users, making it generally less reliable than the other item options. Signal Beam is a coverage option that hits Grass-types, including Abomasnow and Ludicolo, which are neutral to Ice Beam, as well as Pyschic-types Psychic-types such as Jynx, but this coverage is already accomplished by Hidden Power Fire, and if ran over Ice Beam, it leaves Gorebyss walled by Dragon-types such as Drampa and Altaria. Finally, Psychic can be run alongside Hidden Power Fire for almost perfect neutral coverage, but this leaves Gorebyss struggling more against certain bulky Water- and Grass-types such as Lanturn and Cradily.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Choice Scarf Users**: After a Shell Smash, Choice Scarf users such as Primeape, Oricorio-G, Pyroar, and Togedemaru can still outspeed and OHKO Gorebyss even after a Shell Smash or with some chip damage if Gorebyss is using White Herb.

However, even without Waterium Z, they do not appreciate taking a +2 Hydro Pump (RC) and can still be KOed in situations with previously applied damage. Cradily is immune to Hydro Vortex and manages to avoid the OHKO from +2 Ice Beam, if it has not taken too much damage beforehand. In return, it deals a good amount of damage with Giga Drain, and even OHKOs OHKOing if Gorebyss if it is at -1.

Both Liepard and Volbeat can Enocre lock Gorebyss into Shell Smash with Encore while not minding the Speed boost due to Prankster, although they must stay wary that Gorebyss can bypass this for one turn using its Z-Move.
