[OVERVIEW]

Access to Ice Beam, Earth Power, and Fusion Bolt gives Kyurem-B a unique set of moves that can threaten a lot of common Pokemon in the metagame, especially those used on bulky offense, such as Landorus-T, Heatran, Tapu Fini, Mega Salamence, Zapdos, and Zygarde. On top of its offenses, Kyurem-B has very solid defenses and access to Icy Wind, which allows it to effectively run a more supportive role with an Assault Vest. In addition, Kyurem-B can be unpredictable, as it can also effectively run a Life Orb set. This, alongside its ease to be fit on teams, gives Kyurem-B a solid place in the metagame. However, Kyurem-B's very unfortunate Speed tier leaves the Life Orb set outsped by fast attackers such as Mega Metagross and Marshadow and the Assault Vest set slower than some bulkier foes it wants to threaten such as Zygarde and Zapdos. Because of its weakness to Stealth Rock and lack of a recovery option, Assault Vest Kyurem-B is easily chipped down and is rarely at full health to take on all the foes you want it to. Additionally, even if it lands a super effective hit, Kyurem-B won't be doing very much damage against bulkier Pokemon, such as Tyranitar and Aegislash.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Ice Beam is Kyurem-B's most reliable Ice-type STAB attack and lets it hit common Pokemon in the metagame, such as Landorus-T, Mega Salamence, Zygarde, and Amoonguss, for super effective damage. Earth Power, alongside Ice Beam, gives Kyurem-B perfect neutral coverage and allows it to hit Heatran and Tapu Koko super effectively. Fusion Bolt rounds out the set by allowing Kyurem-B to hit Pokemon that would otherwise wall it, such as Tapu Fini and Celesteela, for super effective damage. Icy Wind adds to Kyurem-B's utility by giving it a speed control option. Hidden Power Fire is an option over Earth Power, as it allows Kyurem-B to threaten Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor.

Set Details
========

248 HP EVs with 56 Defense EVs and a Relaxed nature allow Kyurem-B to survive Mega Metagross's Meteor Mash, take +1 Zygarde's Tectonic Rage, and avoid the 2HKO from standard Mega Salamence's Double Edge. 56 Attack EVs allow Kyurem-B to 2HKO standard Tapu Fini with Fusion Bolt. 80 Speed EVs ensure that, even with a Speed-reducing nature, Kyurem-B outruns Thundurus-T after an Icy Wind drop. A Relaxed nature is preferred, as it keeps Kyurem-B's bulk intact without hindering any of its offensive stats. Those wanting to use a faster Kyurem-B should note that Speed may not be the most efficient stat to reduce with Kyurem-B's nature. Assault Vest takes advantage of Kyurem-B's high natural bulk by boosting its Special Defense and allows it to tank attacks that it normally wouldn't, such as Life Orb Tapu Lele's Moonblast and Life Orb Kingdra's Draco Meteor. Teravolt further adds to Kyurem-B's utility, as it is able to ignore abilities and get a "true" super effective hit on Pokemon such as Mega Venusaur and Rotom-W.

Usage Tips
========

This set takes advantage of Kyurem-B's high base defensive stats by investing more in its bulk. While it tends to miss out on KOs that more offensive sets can get, such as against Celesteela and Mega Charizard Y, the added bulk that this set provides allows Kyurem-B to survive more attacks, and Icy Wind gives it added utility. Additionally, with Kyurem-B's high base offensive stats, it will still usually 2HKO those Pokemon even without extra investment. Despite this set's focus on bulk, Kyurem-B is still able to KO key Pokemon, such as Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Heatran. Unlike more offensive variants, the point of this set isn't to snipe common Pokemon in the metagame and punch holes, but rather to support the team with Icy Wind while still being able to weaken common bulky Pokemon, such as Tapu Fini and Celesteela. One downside, however, is that Assault Vest Kyurem-B's lower damage output leaves it as setup bait for bulky setup Pokemon such as Snorlax. Against those Pokemon, it is better to switch out rather than try to attack. Don't attack unless using a super effective move because this set won't be doing much damage otherwise. Icy Wind as speed control is almost always the better option unless you need more chip damage on a Pokemon for Kyurem-B's teammate.

Team Options
========

Kyurem-B can work on a multitude of teams. Pokemon that benefit from speed control, such as Mega Diancie, Mega Gardevoir, and Tapu Lele, are great partners for this set. Mega Gardevoir and Tapu Lele, while both adding to the Steel-type weakness, are powerful Pokemon that can deal massive damage to the opponent's team. They can also both threaten Fighting-types while Kyurem-B can threaten certain Steel-types, such as Heatran and Celesteela. Mega Diancie benefits greatly from Kyurem-B's ability to threaten common Intimidate users, such as Landorus-T and Salamence, which lower the power of its main move, Diamond Storm. Most teams also lack solid Rock-resistant Pokemon, so Diancie benefits greatly from the speed control that Kyurem-B provides. Another Pokemon that benefits from Kyurem-B's access to speed control and ability to threaten common Intimidate users is Marshadow. In return, Marshadow threatens out Steel-types, such as Aegislash and Ferrothorn, and opposing Assault Vest Kyurem-B. Similarly to Mega Diancie, Marshadow is also a very hard Pokemon to switch into, which works really well with Kyurem-B's access to Icy Wind, making it hard to revenge kill Marshadow without losing a Pokemon. Fire-types, such as Volcanion, can take out Steel-types that pressure Kyurem-B, such as Aegislash and Ferrothorn. Kyurem-B, in return, can switch into Tapu Koko easily and threaten it out while also beating Landorus-T and Zygarde. Both must be wary of Rock-types, however. Despite the added Special Defense boost from Assault Vest, Kyurem-B will still take massive damage from Fairy-type attacks and can't do much back to them, so Steel-types, such as Genesect and Mega Metagross, are great partners to take out common Fairy-types. Kyurem-B becomes a solid check to rain teams when paired with Tapu Fini because Misty Terrain weakens the power of Kingdra's Dragon-type attacks. Tapu Fini also has access to Heal Pulse, which can increase Kyurem-B's longevity and mitigate its lack of a solid recovery option.

Moves
========

Ice Beam is Kyurem-B's best Ice-type STAB attack and allows it to hit common Pokemon in the metagame, such as Landorus-T, Zapdos, Mega Salamence, and Amoonguss, for super effective damage. Fusion Bolt greatly threatens Pokemon that would otherwise wall Kyurem-B, such as Tapu Fini and Celesteela. Earth Power completes Kyurem-B's perfect neutral coverage while also allowing it to hit Heatran and Tapu Koko super effectively. Protect shields Kyurem-B from a potential fatal hit and can allow its partner to deal with the threat.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment with a Hasty nature allows Kyurem-B to outspeed non-Choice Scarf variants of Landorus-T and Speed tie with Tapu Lele. A Hasty nature is used over a Naive nature because Kyurem-B's typing makes it a passable switch-in to Electric- and Water-type attacks, which are primarily special. With 96 Attack EVs, Kyurem-B can OHKO bulky Mega Charizard Y with Fusion Bolt and easily 2HKO even the bulkiest Tapu Fini. The rest of the EVs are dumped into Special Attack. Life Orb gives Kyurem-B a much higher damage output and helps it get KOs that it otherwise wouldn’t, such as against Tapu Koko and Mega Charizard Y.

Usage Tips
========

Kyurem-B works best early- and mid-game to punch holes in the opponent's team. However, it gets worn down easily due to Life Orb, so try to bring it in on free switches or weaker resisted hits, such as Tapu Fini's Muddy Water or Zapdos's Thunderbolt. It is best to retain as much health as possible so that Kyurem-B can pressure the opponent's team more. Because Kyurem-B gets worn down easily, try to not attack foes unless through a super effective hit or if they're about to faint. Due to Kyurem-B's threatening presence, it is common for the opponent to switch around their Pokemon to wear it down, so sometimes it is better to go for a read rather than a super effective hit, especially against Pokemon that can't do much damage to Kyurem-B, such as Amoonguss.

Team Options
========

Kyurem-B is very widely usable. Aegislash has access to Wide Guard so it can shield Kyurem-B from common super effective spread moves, such as Rock Slide, Dazzling Gleam, and Pixilate Hyper Voice. Aegislash can also switch into Fighting-, Fairy-, and Steel-type attacks aimed at Kyurem-B. It can then force out Pokemon that threaten Kyurem-B, such as Mega Metagross, Mega Diancie, and Tapu Lele. Kyurem-B, in return, can threaten common Aegislash answers, such as Heatran and Landorus-T. Marshadow is a more offensive partner with Kyurem-B that supports it by being able to outrun and beat opposing Aegislash, Mega Gardevoir, and Terrakion. Kyurem-B, in return, threatens Landorus-T and Salamence, both of which have Intimidate and can thus lower Marshadow's damage output. Mega Gengar's Shadow Tag works really well with Kyurem-B, as it makes amazing use of Kyurem-B's ability to hit a majority of the metagame for super effective damage by trapping them. It can also beat Fairy-types and certain Steel-types, such as Aegislash and Mega Metagross, that threaten Kyurem-B. Tapu Fini's Misty Terrain is helpful to give Kyurem-B an immunity to crippling statuses, such as burn and paralysis. Tapu Fini also can threaten Fighting-types, such as Marshadow, and has access to Heal Pulse to mitigate Kyurem-B's tendency to get worn down due to Life Orb recoil. Kyurem-B works great on rain teams, as it can threaten common rain answers, such as Mega Charizard Y, Mega Salamence, Tapu Fini, and Amoonguss. Rain teams also make great use of Kyurem-B's ability to punch holes in the opponent's team by allowing Kingdra to spam Muddy Water late-game. Pokemon with speed control work well with Kyurem-B, since this allows it to outrun Pokemon, such as Mega Salamence and Tapu Koko and KO them. Mega Salamence has access to Tailwind while also benefiting greatly from Kyurem-B's ability to remove Zapdos and Heatran. Tapu Koko outspeeds and threatens Marshadow, while Electric Terrain helps Kyurem-B by further boosting the power of its Fusion Bolt.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Misty Seed is an option, as it acts as a pseudo-Assault Vest boost when paired with Tapu Fini. Additionally, using Misty Seed in place of an Assault Vest allows Kyurem-B to use Roost, which gives it a solid recovery option and increases its longevity, thus allowing it to support the team more. A Choice Scarf allows Kyurem-B to outrun and get a surprise KO on notable Pokemon, such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Mega Salamence, +1 Zygarde, and Tapu Koko. Substitute is a decent set that can turn Kyurem-B into a solid wincon. While it loses out on the ability to threaten Tapu Fini and Celesteela, Kyurem-B gains added longevity and can still threaten a majority of the metagame with only Ice Beam and Earth Power. Electrium Z can bluff another item while giving Kyurem-B access to a powerful Electric-type attack that can OHKO Celesteela and Tapu Fini. More niche attacking moves, such as Dragon Claw for opposing Kyurem-B and Kingdra and Iron Head for Mega Diancie and Tapu Lele, can be used on offensively oriented sets; however, Kyurem-B needs its 3 main attacking moves, and these niche choices are really only effective against a couple of Pokemon, which greatly hinders Kyurem-B's ability to punch holes.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Despite having Earth Power, Kyurem-B won't be doing very much damage to Steel-types, bar Heatran, because of the lack of a STAB boost and Kyurem-B's low Special Attack stat. Aegislash can tank an Earth Power and threaten Kyurem-B with Flash Cannon, while Mega Metagross and Genesect can both outrun and threaten Kyurem-B.

**Fighting-types**: Marshadow and Terrakion can both outrun Kyurem-B and OHKO it with Close Combat. Scrafty takes any of Kyurem-B's attacks with ease and can remove its Assault Vest with Knock Off or deal heavy damage with a Fighting-type STAB move.

**Fairy-types**: Mega Gardevoir can outrun Kyurem-B and do massive damage to it with Hyper Voice, while Tapu Lele can tank a hit from Kyurem-B and also do massive damage to it with Moonblast. If using a Life Orb, Kyurem-B also has to risk a potential Speed tie against Tapu Lele.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon with high Special Defense stats, most notably Tyranitar and Snorlax, can shrug off most of Kyurem-B's attacks. Tyranitar can threaten Kyurem-B with a Rock-type attack, while Snorlax can set up on Kyurem-B.

imo sub hasn't gotten enough usage to be a set. It's the strong af electrc/ice coverage (therefore able to slay the fuk out of tapu fini zap) that made kyurem-b decently popular

I know its not extremely common, but I think Z-Freeze Shock is deserving of an OO spot right next to electrium. It's an awesome tool for wallbreaking and surprises the hell out of a lot of stuff, and is a great wallbreaker and you get to make use of that high attack stat that often goes to waste. It can really help break through some of common things that people would use against kyub

I'm not QC obviously but i love u dad1

the thing with Z freeze shock is that its more of a meme than anything. Kyub relies on its ice stab a lot so having a one shot ice type attack like that isn't really worth. Unlike singles, kyub really isn't a wallbreaker for say, kyub is mainly used due to its unique moveset that lets it hit a lot of common Pokemon for super effective damage, so most stuff that you use ice beam against (lando, zygarde, mence) all die in one shot anyways. so yeah i don't think it deserves a mention at all.

honestly I think AV is good enough to deserve its own set, you just live so much shit you shouldn't be while still dealing respectable damage

  • [(LO) Set Details] Mention why Hasty is used over Naive (Dragon typing allows it to be a passable switch-in to Water- and Electric-type moves, which are primarily special)
  • [(LO) Team Options] Tapu Fini is a decent partner because Kyurem-B appreciates Heal Pulse and Misty Terrain support
  • [(AV) Set] Don't forget to name the set
  • [(AV) Team Options] Something to take out Fairy-types comes in handy - even though AV is bulkier, it still can't do much back to Mega Garde / Tapu Lele
  • [Other Options] Scarf should be before Sub, it's better
QC 1/2, good work on this!

QC 2/2 pending the following:

OVERVIEW
  • Since the set order is now AV > Life Orb in your analysis, the points you make in your overview should follow the same pattern (right now you're talking about what LO Kyube does first).
  • "or Electrium Z, which can bluff Choice Scarf and net a surprise KO on Celesteela."
    I don't think Kyurem-B bluffs this in SM? It's a pretty rare (but still usable) set nowadays.
  • "and it cannot make good use of its high Attack stat."
    Fusion Bolt is a very good use of it's high Attack stat so it's not like the stat goes to waste; it's just that Kyurem doesn't get any physical Ice STABs, and there's no real reason to run Dragon Claw/Outrage (especially with Fini being so common)
ASSAULT VEST

Moves

  • A small detail, but I'd just add a sentence about what Teravolt does - namely, being able to score a "true" super-effective hit on Mega Venusaur and being able to hit Rotom-W with Earth Power
Set Details
  • There should be an explanation in this section about why this set invests Spe EVs when it's using a Relaxed Nature (+Def / -Spe). Basically the logic here is that a Nature increases/decreases a given stat by 10%, so with this spread it makes sense to apply the 10% reduction to the lowest stat for maximum overall ROI on the spread, given that AV Kryuem is basically using all six of them. People wishing to run faster Kyurem-Bs than the given spread should note that a -Spe nature may stop being the most efficient stat to apply the negative Nature to.
Team Options
  • AV Kyurem-B becomes an all-around solid check / speed control tech to opposing Rain teams when paired with Tapu Fini, which negates Kyurem-B's weakness to Kingdra's Draco Meteor
ALL-OUT ATTACKER

Usage Tips
  • "Due to Kyurem-B's threatening presence, it is common for the oppnent to switch around their Pokemon to wear it down"
    Now that AV Kyurem-B is the "standard," I don't know how true this is. In fact, one could argue that LO Kyurem-B can bluff an AV set to net a surprise KO.
Team Options
  • Tapu Koko is a fantastic ally for LO Kyurem-B; Electric Terrain further boosts the power of Fusion Bolt.
STRATEGY COMMENTS

Checks and Counters
  • The new(-ish) convention for this section is **XX-types** not **XX-type Pokemon** because common non-STAB coverage moves can count towards these tags.
  • None of your Steel-type calcs are relevant to AV Kyurem-B, which is now the main set:
    • "Aegislash can tank an Earth Power and OHKO it with Flash Cannon"
      252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Flash Cannon vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Kyurem-Black: 234-276 (51.6 - 60.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    • "Mega Metagross and Genesect can outrun and OHKO Kyurem-B."
      252 Atk Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 248 HP / 56+ Def Kyurem-Black: 260-308 (57.3 - 67.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
      +1 252 Atk Genesect Iron Head vs. 248 HP / 56+ Def Kyurem-Black: 320-378 (70.6 - 83.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • Under Fighting-types, order should be Marshadow > Terrakion
  • Again, the damage calcs for **Fairy-types** haven't accounted for AV Kyurem-B

[OVERVIEW]

Access to Ice Beam, Earth Power, and Fusion Bolt gives Kyurem-B a unique set of moves that can threaten a lot of common Pokemon in the metagame, especially those used and ran on bulky offense, such as Landorus-T, Heatran, Tapu Fini, Mega Salamence, Zapdos, and Zygarde. On top of its offenses, Kyurem-B has very solid defenses and access to Icy Wind, which can allows it to effectively run a more supportive role with an Assault Vest. This allows Kyurem-B to either pressure them or greatly threaten those teams by using Life Orb. In addition, Kyurem-B can be very unpredictable, as it can also effectively run a Choice Scarf Life Orb set. (honestly haven't seen Choice Scarf in months and this fixes up some weird phrasing issues) This, alongside its splashability, gives Kyurem-B a solid place in the metagame. Kyurem-B, however, has a very unfortunate Speed tier, leaving the Life Orb set outsped by fast attackers such as Mega Metagross and Marshadow and the Assault Vest set slower than some bulkier foes it wants to threaten such as Zygarde and Zapdos. (normally wouldn't do this in a GP check, so consider this a pseudo-QC check as well heh) Because of its weakness to Stealth Rock and lack of a recovery option, Assault Vest Kyurem-B is easily chipped down and is rarely at full health to take on all the foes you want it to. Even with investment, its special attacks won't be doing much damage unless it is a super effective hit. This means that Kyurem-B can be worn down very easily if using Life Orb or leaves it as setup bait for bulkier Pokemon, such as Snorlax. (phrasing / order of Overview was weird and neither point is exactly crucial. If you want to retain either, feel free to reword and ping me to look over) Additionally, even if it is lands a super effective hit, Kyurem-B won't be doing very much damage against bulkier Pokemon, such as Tyranitar and Aegislash.

Ice Beam is Kyurem-B's most reliable Ice-type STAB attack and lets it hit common Pokemon in the metagame, such as Landorus-T, Mega Salamence, Zygarde, and Amoonguss, (AC) for super effective damage.

248 HP EVs with 56 Defense EVs and a Relaxed nature allows Kyurem-B to survive Mega Metagross's Meteor Mash, take +1 Zygarde's Tectonic Rage, and avoid the 2HKO from 60 Attack Mega Salamence's Double Edge. 56 Attack EVs allows Kyurem-B to 2HKO 252 HP / 128+ Def Tapu Fini with Fusion Bolt. 80 Speed EVs allows ensure that, even with a Speed-reducing nature, Kyurem-B to outruns (avoiding repetitive sentence structure) Thundurus-T after an Icy Wind drop. A Relaxed nature is preferred, as it keeps Kyurem-B's bulk intact without hindering any of its offensive stats. Speed investment with a -Spe nature is used because Kyurem-B essentially uses relies on all six stats; (ASC) and since a nature decreases a stat by 10%, it makes sense to apply this reduction to the lowest a lower stat for maximum return-on-investment on the spread. People Those wanting to use a faster Kyurem-B should note that a -Spe nature Speed may not be the most efficient stat to apply the reduction to reduce with Kyurem-B's nature. Assault Vest takes advantage of Kyurem-B's high natural bulk by boosting its Special Defense and allows it to tank attacks that it normally wouldn't, such as Life Orb Tapu Lele's Moonblast and Life Orb Kingdra's Draco Meteor. Teravolt further adds to Kyurem-B's utility, as it is able to ignore abilities and get a "true" super-effective hit on Pokemon such as Mega Venusaur and Rotom-W.

This set takes advantage of Kyurem-B's high base defensive stats by investing more in its bulk. Kyurem-B is very splashable, so it can work with on a multitude of teams. Mega Diancie benefits greatly from Kyurem-B's ability to threaten common Intimidate users, such as Landorus-T and Salamence, which can allow it to spam lower the power of its main move, Diamond Storm. Most teams also lack any solid Rock-type resistsresistant Pokemon, so Diancie benefits greatly from the speed control that Kyurem-B provides. Another Pokemon that benefits from Kyurem-B's access to speed control and ability to threaten common Intimidate users is Marshadow. In return, Marshadow threatens out Steel-types, such as Aegislash and Ferrothorn, and opposing Assault Vest Kyurem-B. Similarly to Mega Diancie, it Marshadow is also a very hard Pokemon to switch into, which works really well with Kyurem-B's access to Icy Wind, which can make making it hard to revenge kill Marshadow without sacking losing a Pokemon. Despite the added Special Defense boost from Assault Vest, Kyurem-B will still take massive damage from Fairy-type attacks and can't really do anything do much (it still hits Koko/Fini/Bulu pretty hard) back to them, so Steel-types, such as Genesect and Mega Metagross, are great partners to take out common Fairy-types. Kyurem-B becomes a solid check to rain teams when paired with Tapu Fini because Misty Terrain weakens the power of Dragon-type attacks, which helps Kyurem-B against Kingdra. Tapu Fini also has access to Heal Pulse, which can increase Kyurem-B's longevity and mitigate its lack of a solid recovery option.

Aegislash has access to Wide Guard so it can shield Kyurem-B from common super effective spread moves, such as Rock Slide, Dazzling Gleam, and Pixalate Pixilate Hyper Voice. Aegislash can also switch into Fighting-, Fairy-, and Steel-type attacks aimed at Kyurem-B. It can also then force out Pokemon that threaten Kyurem-B, such as Mega Metagross, Mega Diancie, and Tapu Lele. Kyurem-B, in return, threatens Landorus-T and Salamence, both of which has have Intimidate and can thus lower Marshadow's damage output. Mega Gengar's Shadow Tag works really well with Kyurem-B, as it makes amazing use of Kyurem-B's ability to hit a majority of the metagame for super effective damage by trapping them. It can also beat Fairy-types and certain Steel-types, such as Aegislash and Mega Metagross, and Fairy-types that threaten Kyurem-B. Tapu Fini's Misty Terrain is helpful to give Kyurem-B an immunity to crippling statuses, such as burn and paralysis. Tapu Fini also can threaten Fighting-types, such as Marshadow, and has access to Heal Pulse to increase mitigate Kyurem-B's longevity, as it tends tendency to get worn down due to Life Orb recoil. Kyurem-B works great on rain teams, as it can threaten common rain answers, such as Mega Charizard Y, Mega Salamence, Tapu Fini, and Amoonguss. Rain teams also makes great use of Kyurem-B's ability to punch holes in the opponent's team by allowing Kingdra to spam Muddy Water late game. Pokemon with speed control work well with Kyurem-B, since it this allows it to outrun Pokemon that it normally can't and KO them, such as Mega Salamence and Tapu Koko, and KO them. Mega Salamence has access to Tailwind while also benefiting greatly from Kyurem-B's ability to remove Zapdos and Heatran. Tapu Koko outspeeds and threatens Marshadow, (AC) while Electric Terrain helps Kyurem-B by further boosting the power of its Fusion Bolt.

Other Options

Misty Seed is an option, as it acts as a pseudo-Assault Vest boost when paired with Tapu Fini. Additionally, using Misty Seed in place of an Assault Vest allows Kyurem-B to use Roost, which gives it a solid recovery option and increases its longevity, thus allowing it to support the team more. A Choice Scarf allows Kyurem-B to outrun and get a surprise KO on notable Pokemon, such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Mega Salamence, +1 Zygarde, and Tapu Koko. Substitute, while not as powerful as it was in the previous generation, is still is a decent set and that can turn Kyurem-B into a solid win condition. While it loses out on the ability to threaten Tapu Fini and Celesteela, Kyurem-B gains added longevity and can still threaten a majority of the metagame with only Ice Beam and Earth Power. Electrium Z can bluff another item while giving Kyurem-B access to powerful Electric-type attack that can OHKO Celesteela and Tapu Fini. More niche attacking moves, such as Dragon Claw for opposing Kyurem-B and Kingdra and Iron Head for Mega Diancie and Tapu Lele, can be used on offensively-oriented sets; however, Kyurem-B needs its 3 main attacking moves and these niche choices are really only effective against one a couple Pokemon, which greatly hinders Kyurem-B's ability to punch holes.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Despite having Earth Power, Kyurem-B won't be doing very much damage to Steel-types, bar Heatran, because of the lack of a STAB boost and Kyurem-B's low Special Attack stat. Aegislash can tank an Earth Power and threaten it with Flash Cannon, while Mega Metagross and Genesect can both outrun and threaten Kyurem-B.

(again, far more QC than GP edit)

This, alongside its splashability, ease to be fit on teams, gives Kyurem-B a solid place in the metagame. Kyurem-B, However, has a Kyurem-B's very unfortunate Speed tier, leaving tier leaves the Life Orb set outsped by fast attackers such as Mega Metagross and Marshadow and the Assault Vest set slower than some bulkier foes it wants to threaten such as Zygarde and Zapdos.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

248 HP EVs with 56 Defense EVs and a Relaxed nature allow Kyurem-B to survive Mega Metagross's Meteor Mash, take +1 Zygarde's Tectonic Rage, and avoid the 2HKO from 60 Attack (prefer "standard" if applicable) Mega Salamence's Double Edge. 56 Attack EVs allow Kyurem-B to 2HKO 252 HP / 128+ Def (same here) Tapu Fini with Fusion Bolt. 80 Speed EVs ensure that, even with a Speed-reducing nature, Kyurem-B outruns Thundurus-T after an Icy Wind drop. A Relaxed nature is preferred, as it keeps Kyurem-B's bulk intact without hindering any of its offensive stats. Kyurem-B relies on all six stats; since a nature decreases a stat by 10%, it makes sense to apply this reduction to a lower stat for maximum return-on-investment on the spread. Those wanting to use a faster Kyurem-B should note that Speed nature may not be the most efficient stat to reduce with Kyurem-B's nature. Assault Vest takes advantage of Kyurem-B's high natural bulk by boosting its Special Defense and allows it to tank attacks that it normally wouldn't, such as Life Orb Tapu Lele's Moonblast and Life Orb Kingdra's Draco Meteor. Teravolt further adds to Kyurem-B's utility, as it is able to ignore abilities and get a "true" super effective (RH) hit on Pokemon such as Mega Venusaur and Rotom-W.

Usage Tips
========

This set takes advantage of Kyurem-B's high base defensive stats by investing more in its bulk. While it tends to miss out on KOs that more offensive sets can get, such as against Celesteela and Mega Charizard Y, the added bulk that this set provides allows Kyurem-B to survive more attacks, (AC) and Icy Wind gives it added utility.

========

Kyurem-B becomes a solid check to rain teams when paired with Tapu Fini because Misty Terrain weakens the power of Kingdra's Dragon-type attacks, which helps Kyurem-B against Kingdra. Tapu Fini also has access to Heal Pulse, which can increase Kyurem-B's longevity and mitigate its lack of a solid recovery option.

Ice Beam is Kyurem-B's best Ice-type STAB attack and allows it to hit common Pokemon in the metagame, such as Landorus-T, Zapdos, Mega Salamence, and Amoonguss, for super effective damage. Fusion Bolt greatly threatens Pokemon that would otherwise wall it Kyurem-B, such as Tapu Fini and Celesteela. Earth Power completes Kyurem-B's perfect neutral coverage while also allowing it to hit Heatran and Tapu Koko super effectively. Protect shields Kyurem-B from a potential fatal hit and can allow its partner to deal with the threat.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment with a Hasty nature allows Kyurem-B to outspeed non-Choice Scarf variants of Landorus-T and speedtie Speed tie with Tapu Lele.

Usage Tips
========

Kyurem-B works best early- and mid-game to punch holes in the oppnent's opponent's team. Kyurem-B, However, it gets worn down easily due to Life Orb, so try to bring it in on free switches or weaker resisted hits, such as Tapu Fini's Muddy Water or Zapdos's Thunderbolt. It is best to retain as much health as possible so that Kyurem-B can pressure the opponent's team more. Because Kyurem-B gets worn down easily, try to not attack foes unless through a super effective hit or if they're about to faint. Due to Kyurem-B's threatening presence, it is common for the oppnent opponent to switch around their Pokemon to wear it down, so sometimes it is better to go for a read rather than a super effective hit, especially against Pokemon that can't do much damage to Kyurem-B, such as Amoonguss.
