OU Magearna

[OVERVIEW]

Magearna is one of the most consistent sweepers in the tier due to its great Special Attack and movepool, which allow it to muscle its way past traditional checks such as Heatran and Toxapex with All-Out Pummeling and Gigavolt Havoc, respectively. Magearna's typing and bulk make it possible to run an Assault Vest set to check dangerous breakers in the tier such as Greninja, Tapu Lele, and Gengar while simultaneously providing momentum with Volt Switch. Despite Magearna's ridiculous potential, it should be acknowledged that it is bait for Mega Charizard Y, Landorus-T, Volcarona, and Zygarde, some of the most threatening Pokemon in the tier.

Moves
========

A Shift Gear set trades Trick Room sets' bulk, power, and favorable matchup against faster Choice Scarf users such as Keldeo and Dugtrio for more reliability in completing a successful sweep. Shift Gear boosts Magearna's Speed by two stages, allowing it to outpace everything up to Choice Scarf Nihilego. The Attack boost does not matter because Magearna is a special attacker. Flash Cannon is used because it provides a reliable STAB move for cleaning without the side effects of possibly using Fleur Cannon. Focus Blast is used to OHKO offensive Heatran and Excadrill after Stealth Rock while doing massive damage to other Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Magnezone. Thunderbolt completes Magearna's coverage, allowing it to hit Pokemon such as Keldeo and Mega Pinsir while breaking specially defensive Toxapex and Celesteela if paired with Electrium Z. Ice Beam is an option because it provides wider coverage on sets with Fightinium Z, nailing Pokemon such as Zapdos and Landorus-T.

Aura Sphere can be used for its reliable accuracy, but the reason to use Shift Gear is its capability to sweep earlier in the match than a Trick Room set can due to the lack of limited turns, and Aura Sphere contradicts this niche. Hidden Power Fire can be used over Focus Blast, trading coverage versus Heatran in order to defeat Mega Scizor. Fleur Cannon is an option over Flash Cannon because it is Magearna's strongest attack, and it hits ridiculously hard with Fairium Z. Finally, Calm Mind can be used alongside Shift Gear to form a Double Dance set; Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are mandatory with this set, as they maximize coverage, but the lack of Focus Blast coverage can be problematic at times.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature are necessary for Magearna to outspeed Choice Scarf Garchomp. They also allow Magearna to surprise defensive Landorus-T and KO it with Twinkle Tackle or Ice Beam if necessary. The remaining investment is used in Special Attack to maximize Magearna's sweeping capabilities.

Shift Gear gives up the utility of Magearna's typing and bulk for Magearna's full potential, which is the ability to set up mid-game and start breaking defensive cores. Fightinium Z is a recommended as a result, since it capitalizes on Shift Gear's versatility, allowing Magearna to break healthy Steel-types, as Pokemon such as Ferrothorn are at comfortable amounts of HP at this stage of gameplay. Fightinium Z grants Magearna a 190-Base Power All-Out Pummeling, supporting Magearna itself and more importantly its teammates by removing Heatran, Ferrothorn, and a weakened Mega Scizor. Do not use Fightinium Z with Aura Sphere, as it makes All-Out Pummeling much weaker. However, Electrium Z is a decent option due to the prevalence of Toxapex and Celesteela. Fairium Z can be utilized with Fleur Cannon, resulting in a 195-Base Power Twinkle Tackle that can easily lead to the snowball effect of Soul-Heart due to its ridiculous power.

Shift Gear Magearna can run a Shuca Berry or Air Balloon to set up on most Ground-types, but Magearna becomes a less reliable cleaner without a Z-Crystal. Ice Beam is best used on these sets in order to lure in and KO Pokemon such as Zygarde and Landorus-T.

Usage Tips
========

Shift Gear sets can be used as mid-game breakers because of their use of Speed investment and unlimited turns for sweeping, unlike Trick Room. As a result, try to bring in Magearna as early as possible so it can pave itself a path for a sweep late-game. Fightinium Z sets can destroy Ferrothorn with the right opportunity, for example, while Electrium Z sets can be timed to blow back Toxapex. If Magearna is your primary wincon, make sure it does not take any damage, as it will need its health to set up and avoid being revenge killed by Pokemon such as Ash-Greninja and Keldeo.

Depending on the matchup, it may be best to bring Magearna in recklessly and break as many holes as possible, as Magearna's typing does not bring as much defensive utility as one might think due to this set's lack of defensive investment. On a similar note, Magearna should set up on Pokemon it forces out, such as Tapu Lele, or resisted Choice-locked attacks such as Ash Greninja's Dark Pulse.

Team Options
========

Greninja and Ferrothorn can provide crucial Spikes support for Magearna, while Psychic-types such as Hoopa-U, Mega Alakazam, Tapu Lele, and Latios make great teammates for their ability to pressure Steel-types. Swords Dance Mega Mawile appreciates Electrium Z Magearna destroying Toxapex so that it can run Fire Fang over Knock Off or Thunder Punch. Fightinium Z Magearna is a great teammate to remove Steel-types for the aforementioned Psychic-types, especially faster ones such as Mega Alakazam, Tapu Lele, and Choice Scarf Latios.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Fleur Cannon is Magearna's strongest and most spammable attack, doing a hefty chunk to anything that does not resist it. Magearna is a natural check to Tapu Lele and Clefable, so it only makes sense to have Flash Cannon to force them out. Hidden Power Fire is the preferred option in the third moveslot so that Magearna can threaten Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. However, Ice Beam is an option for OHKOing Landorus-T, offensive Zygarde, and Garchomp on the switch. Volt Switch turns Magearna into a great pivot, as it allows it to gain momentum against Pokemon that it cannot normally break such as Toxapex and Chansey for teammates to take advantage of.

Set Details
========
A Calm nature with the given EV spread lets Magearna come in on Choice Specs Gengar's Shadow Ball three times with Stealth Rock damage, making Magearna a semi-consistent check to one of the most threatening breakers in the tier. A more offensive variant of this set with maximum Special Attack investment and a Modest nature is viable for punishing switches harder. However, Magearna loses a lot of defensive utility when it comes to checking Greninja, for example. Soul-Heart is Magearna's only available ability.

Usage Tips
========
Magearna should be used to switch into dangerous special attackers such as Tapu Lele, Gengar, Tapu Koko, and Greninja. While Volt Switch does gain the most leverage for teammates, double switching or using Fleur Cannon may be the better play if there is a Ground-type or Alolan Marowak on the opponent's team. Using Volt Switch might not be smart on a confirmed Protean Greninja, as Magearna can be Spikes fodder for it. Remember that Fleur Cannon still has a decent amount of power behind it, so using it does not forfeit as much momentum as one might expect it to, especially for maximum Special Attack variants.

While Magearna does check a lot of special attackers, switching it in right away might not be the best move. For example, Magearna is indeed a solid check to Gengar and Latios, but middle-ground plays may have to be made to scout for a possible Trick. Another example is coming in on Knock Off users such as Clefable, Tornadus-T, and Alolan Muk near the start of a game, as Magearna may not want to have its Assault Vest removed so early in the game.

Team Options
========

Magearna is bait to two of the most dangerous Pokemon in the tier, Volcarona and Zygarde. It would only be natural to have counterplay to these threats. Mantine, Toxapex, and specially defensive Zygarde are great teammates for checking most variants of Volcarona, while opposing Zygarde can be checked with physically defensive Tangrowth and Landorus-T. Tangrowth in particular can net extra recovery for Magearna with Leech Seed.

Magearna appreciates entry hazard support due to the high number of switches it forces. Greninja is the best Spikes user for this role, as Ferrothorn brings redundant defensive synergy with Magearna. Stealth Rock users include Landorus-T and Heatran, while Toxapex makes an excellent user of Toxic Spikes. VoltTurn teammates are appreciated because Magearna has Volt Switch to form VoltTurn cores. Ash-Greninja, Landorus-T, and Tapu Koko are good examples, though be sure to have solid counterplay for Alolan Marowak if the last is chosen. Strong wallbreakers such as Mega Heracross, Protean Greninja, Gengar, and Volcarona appreciate Magearna forcing in Tangrowth and Heatran. The threat of such a wallbreaker can prevent the opponent from switching into such passive Pokemon, allowing Magearna to make easier reads on incoming Ground-types for a double switch or straight up attack with Fleur Cannon.

Moves
========

After a Trick Room, Magearna outpaces the majority of the metagame, allowing it to wreak havoc on a lot of teams with the combination of its bulk, power, and unpredictability. Fleur Cannon is Magearna's strongest attack, and it hits ridiculously hard when powered up by Fairium Z. Considering how short-lived Trick Room is, the immediate power provided by Twinkle Tackle is preferred in order to kickstart Soul-Heart and sweep teams in the clutch. Focus Blast, despite its imperfect accuracy, is used to hit a large number of Pokemon that resist Fairy, such as Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Magnezone, for huge damage. Thunderbolt is used as a filler because it can hit Pokemon such as Toxapex, Mantine, and Keldeo without causing Fleur Cannon's Special Attack drop. Flash Cannon is an option over Thunderbolt on Fairium Z sets because it is a reliable secondary STAB attack and has a different range of targets when it comes to avoiding the stat drops of Fleur Cannon, such as Tapu Bulu, Mega Heracross, and Mew.

With Electrium Z, Gigavolt Havoc does massive damage to Pokemon that normally wall Magearna, such as Celesteela and specially defensive Toxapex, while doing more damage than Twinkle Tackle to checks such as Volcarona and Mega Scizor. Using Fleur Cannon can prove inconsistent on Electrium Z sets due to its Special Attack drops. Thus, Flash Cannon is an alternative to Fleur Cannon as a reliable STAB move late-game.

Hidden Power Fire can be used over Focus Blast, trading coverage versus Heatran in order to defeat Mega Scizor. Aura Sphere is a 100% accurate Fighting-type move, but it requires its targets such as Ferrothorn and Magnezone to be at a low amount of health before it can KO them.

Set Details
========

Fairium Z grants Magearna access to a 195-Base Power Twinkle Tackle, a great move for kickstarting Soul-Heart and invalidating checks such as Landorus-T. Electrium Z similarly boosts Thunderbolt's power to a solid 175, so Magearna can defeat Pokemon such as Celesteela and Toxapex with little prior damage. Fightinium Z seems like an appealing option for breaking full HP Heatran, Ferrothorn, and other Steel-types, but these Focus Blast targets are often in range of being KOed by the move late-game, when Trick Room should be set up. Electrium Z's viability results from the fact that Celesteela and Toxapex find themselves at close to full health, even late-game, because of their access to Leech Seed and Regenerator, respectively. Fightinium Z is still an option if a Magearna user wants more assurance against Steel-types, though a Shift Gear set is usually best to fulfill this purpose.

Maximum Special Attack investment is used so Magearna can perform to the best of its capabilities when sweeping teams. The rest of the investment is thrown into HP so Magearna has an easier time setting up Trick Room, the main perk this set has over Shift Gear. A Quiet nature and 0 IVs in Speed are utilized so Magearna can outspeed as many possible Pokemon under Trick Room. Soul-Heart boosts Magearna's Special Attack by a stage whenever a Pokemon faints, producing a snowball effect that makes Magearna unstoppable in the right circumstances.

Usage Tips
========
Magearna best performs late-game in that the later you send it out, the higher chance it will have of securing a sweep. After setting up Trick Room, use Twinkle Tackle right away for a free KO and Soul-Heart boost unless Magearna faces something it obviously cannot beat with Twinkle Tackle such as Heatran. This comes back to the point of trying to set up as late as possible, as this is the stage of the game when the opposing team is the most weakened. Sweeping with Electrium Z sets is a bit different because they should be more focused on timing instead of the patience factor Fairium Z sets have.

Magearna is a threat to many teams, but it will find itself useless in certain matches depending on its moveset, as it's walled by Pokemon such as Roost Volcarona, Celesteela, and Mega Scizor. Because of the lack of pressure Magearna exerts in these matchups, it may as well use the bulk Trick Room sets have to trade KOs versus Garchomp and check Tapu Lele, for example.

Team Options
========

For Fairium Z sets, Pokemon that put pressure on Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Celesteela make good teammates. Strong Psychic-types such as Hoopa-U, Tapu Lele, Latios, and Mega Alakazam can fulfill this role. Electrium Z sets lack the ability to kickstart Soul-Heart without Twinkle Tackle, so setting Spikes helps these variants function. Ferrothorn and Greninja are the best Pokemon for this role. Specially defensive Skarmory is a useful teammate, as it can set up Spikes and wear down the opponent's team with Whirlwind. Landorus-T is a good teammate, as it can set up Stealth Rock and net crucial chip damage and momentum with U-turn.

Alolan Marowak and Mega Mawile are fine teammates, as they can take advantage of Trick Room, pressure Celesteela, and force in a lot of Pokemon non-Fairium Z Magearna struggles with such as Landorus-T and Rotom-W. Magearna is a staple on full Trick Room teams, so Uxie, Cresselia, and Porygon2 are good teammates if Magearna is used on this archetype.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Corkscrew Crash is a powerful move with the purpose of activating Soul-Heart, similar to Twinkle Tackle. It is weaker but has a different range of targets that makes Corkscrew Crash a fine choice on teams weak to Mega Venusaur and, more importantly, opposing Magearna. Other Z-Crystals that can be used are Icium Z for Tangrowth, Zapdos, and Amoonguss and Ghostium Z for Jirachi, Alolan Marowak, and Mew.

Choice Specs boosts Magearna's Special Attack through the roof. To put this power into perspective, even Pokemon that resist Fairy such as Alolan Marowak and Gengar find themselves being OHKOed by Fleur Cannon after Stealth Rock damage. Choice Specs makes Magearna a much more immediate threat to defensive teams, but this notion is inconsistent in practice due to its inability to switch moves. Choice Scarf sets are viable for outpacing everything up to Tornadus-T and taking advantage of Volt Switch, Fleur Cannon, and more importantly, Magearna's great coverage to surprise threats such as Landorus-T and Zygarde with Ice Beam.

However, Magearna would rather have coverage instead of boosting its Special Attack, which can already be done via Soul-Heart. Finally, a specially defensive set with Thunder Wave, Volt Switch, Pain Split, and Fleur Cannon can be used to spread status and heal itself, but Magearna generally prefers the extra bulk provided by Assault Vest.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Steel-types**: Heatran, Ferrothorn, specially defensive Excadrill, Celesteela, Mega Mawile, and Scizor force out Magearna, as they can tank a hit and KO it back. However, a Z-Move such as All-Out Pummeling or Gigavolt Havoc, or a coverage move such as Hidden Power Fire in Scizor's case, can invalidate these Pokemon. Jirachi and Bronzong are exceptions, as they defeat every variant of Magearna outside of the rare Never-Ending Nightmare set. Assault Vest Magearna defeats offensive Magearna, but it can lose to sets with Corkscrew Crash.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Volcarona, Mega Charizard Y, and Heatran are solid checks to Magearna by typing but must watch out for specific Z-Moves that can invalidate them. Alolan Marowak is a solid check to Magearna in general, as it blocks Volt Switch due to Lightning Rod. However, it once again has the same problems as many other "checks" because it drops to Twinkle Tackle after Stealth Rock.

**Ground-types**: Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Zygarde force out Magearna with their powerful STAB moves. They also make Magearna users think twice before mindlessly clicking Volt Switch. However, Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Zygarde are not guaranteed switch-ins, as they will be destroyed by Fleur Cannon and can be lured in and KOed with Shuca Berry sets.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Amoonguss, Toxapex, Zapdos, Venusaur, Chansey, defensive Volcarona, and Assault Vest Tangrowth are some specially defensive Pokemon that can wall Magearna depending on its Z-Move. All of them make fine checks to Assault Vest sets.

OVERVIEW
Looks good, but I'd add a point on how it has a very good movepool.

TRICK ROOM SET
You should backslash Fight-Z -- I think this is better than Elec-Z and it's very practical seeing as you can nuke any opposing Steel type and you do not have to bank on 70% accuracy.
You should still mention Elec-Z as you have it in the set comments, but make sure to prioritize the mention of the aforementioned Fight-Z.
Add Aura Sphere clash, but Fight-Z shouldn't be used with this -- stress this point.
You should mention Ice Beam in the set comments, too, as various people have used BoltBeam + Z-Fight as coverage, but it's a tad situational as it drops the high-powered STAB in turn for coverage to totally dick opposing offensive teams.
Can also mention Shuca Berry in set comments for teams that have another Z-move user.

Otherwise, looks very good.

SHIFT GEAR SET
Add Aura Sphere clash, but Fight-Z shouldn't be used with this -- stress this point.
Mention Fleur Cannon + Fairy-Z should get a strong mention in the set comments.
Otherwise, good.

ASSAULT VEST SET
looks fine to me, but I never use this shit, so might be best for other QC members to look into it a bit more

OTHER OPTIONS
mention a SDef set that isn't AV w/ pain split, thunder wave, and choice scarf

Banned deucer.
[OVERVIEW]
- offensive sets are very hard to stop
- great typing and stupidly good bulk, lets it check annoying mons like lele
- slow speed means it gets taken advantage of by mons like zardy, heatran, volc, zygarde, chomper, landot, mamoswine, and mawile

3 lines in the overview is not enough smh, you should elaborate on what its supposed to do in the meta, all this tells me its a good offensive mon with a good defensive typing and its slow.

this mons gonna be a hard one because everyone has different opinions on sets.. anyway im a fan of boltbeam+hp fire/z-focus and fleur + tbolt + flash w/ electrium. edit this to reflect that or just wait for the 3rd guy when we're hopefully more decided on this

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
- trick room allows magearna to outpace faster choice scarf users such as gengar and keldeo, meaning it can invest in bulk. the drawback? magearna only has 4 turns to work with.
- z-fleur cannon destroys everything, and even some resists, doing around 58% to mega metagross
- focus blast nails heatran and ferrothorn. it is especially important on a set that can run a modest nature such as this one.
- thunderbolt hits pokemon such as toxapex, celesteela, and zardy
- flash cannon is a reliable stab that hits hard after a soul-heart boost. the choice is reliability or more coverage.
- ice beam is good if ur using fightz. tbolt can be used over fluer too if fightz for maximum coverage in exchange to being more prone to residual damage pre-soulheart
- aura sphere
- hp fire

Set Details
========
- trick room makes slower 'mons go first. quiet + 0ivs in spe is self explanatory
- modest nature to maximize power and the rest go in bulk
- fairium z allows magearna to kickstart soul-heart asap since it is basically a free ko. important on a set with limited turns to sweep such as this.
- fightz for killing trans and the like, dont use with sphere
- electrium z is an appealing choice because this set can run a modest nature. this allows it to do much more damage to celesteela and neutral targets such as mega scizor
- shuca

Usage Tips
========
- set up trick room when you know you can sweep
- because this set has bulk, you can throw it in early-game but don't be too reckless or it won't be able to sweep later in the match
- trick room can be used to your advantage to prevent pokemon such as volcarona from setting up on you and sweeping your team.

Team Options
========
- spikes: greninja, ferrothorn
- landorus-t, as mentioned in "shift gear"
- marowak as well, but this time it can abuse trick room
- tapu lele wears down pokemon such as metagross and ferrothorn, putting them in range of z-fl.cannon or focus blast
- mawile, despite the shared typing, still breaks a lot of magearna's checks such as specially defensive toxapex and abuses trick room itself
elaborate on full trick room options here too: cress / porygon2 / uxie(?) and other slow as shit hard hitters

Moves
========
- shift gear boosts your speed by 2 stages, enough to outpace scarfchomp. due to magearna's natural bulk it can still shake off moves from faster scarfers such as keldeo, gengar, and nihilego
- flash cannon is your main tool for sweeping. good power after a boost and gives you corkscrew crash with steelium, a powerful nuke that lets you ohko shit like garchomp after rocks and snowball from there with soul-heart
- focus blast hits steel types such as ferrothorn and heatran. used over aura sphere because it doesn't hit like a paper bag.
- thunderbolt rounds off coverage by hitting mons such as zardy, toxapex, and tapu fini
- ice beam is an option if you are using fightz. 1 shots chompers, lando-t, zygarde, while giving you some way to hit zapdos. this former 3 targets are important since you don't have steelium z to nuke em if you are using fightz
- hp fire
- aura sphere

Set Details
========
- steelium z gives you corkscrew crash to kickstart soul-heart
- fightz gives you alloutplummeling a powerful fighting move that is capable of ohkoing ferrothorn and doing massive damage to pokemon such as celesteela.
- timid to outpace scarf chomp at +2
- rest in special attack to maximize sweeping capabilities
- soulheart is a gay ability
- fairium z has similar function of being a free kill but it rly isnt needed on a set like this cuz u dont have limited turns. still nice for nuking power in general and breaking the homie zapdos

Usage Tips
========
- set up when you see an oppurtunity to win
- dont let it take damage early cuz this set needs its bulk cuz no investment for it to setup and its significantly more vulnerable to priority

Team Options
========
- spikers: greninja, ferrothorn
- landorus-t draws in a lot of its checks and wears them down with u-turn like tangrowth. gets up rocks too.
- marowak forces pokemon such as landorus-t and rotom-w to take damage. it also beats celesteela
- breakers such as hoopa-u and ash greninja wear down / force in pokemon such as tangrowth and tapu fini which are roadblocks for magearna

Moves
========
- fleur cannon is ridiculously powerful. prevents pokemon such as zygarde from switching in.
- flash cannon is a reliable stab that blows back pokemon such as tapu bulu and nihilego
- hp fire is recommended for hitting scizor and ferrothorn, but aura sphere can be used to wear down heatran on the switch
- volt switch provides momentum
- shadow ball is an option to hit metagross but metagross generally don't switch in on av magearna

Set Details
========
- max hp for bulk
- av allows magearna to shake off mons such as keldeo scalds and greninja hp fires then proceed to pivot out
- rest in special attack so it isn't passive

Usage Tips
========
- pivot into mons like gren, lele, zam, latis, gengar, then threaten out and volt
- if you see a ground clicking fleur may be best
- click fluer for the hell of it sometimes. it does damage

Team Options
========
- strong dark types like hoopa-u, weavile, and band ttar since they wear down a lot of its checks and capatilize on volt switch. also puts pokemon such as latios in tough situations since the threat of a dark in in the back when you really intend to switch into magearna
- hazard control since this mon has no recovery. fini, latios, starmie,..
- tapu bulu weakens eq and gives mag recovery
- landorus-t and marowak have good synergy. same w tapu koko since magearna baits in and damages a lot of its checks like alolan wak and landot
- leech tangrowth is a phenomenal teammate. takes on metagross and heals mag back up

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

- ghostium z
- double dance should specify that its cm
- heart swap
- shuca berry + ice beam
- spdef set with painsplit, twave
- choice scarf idk what the hell finch was on when he suggested this can u remove it
ive not used it yet but i think the idea of icium is pretty cool, you obliterate tang instead of chipping into it constantly which really puts teams under pressures especially when paired with something like ash gren. mostly theorymon on my end though but include if u want

Checks and Counters
===================
**Steel-types**: They have to watch out for an occasional zmove or hp fire but most can switch in like mgross tran ferro sciz celest
**Fire-types**: alolan wak, heatran, volc, zardy, are good checks. need to watch out zmove though
**ground-types**: make it think twice before clicking volt and pokemon like zygarde and landot force it out even if they have to gamble by switching in
**sdef bulky shit in general**: amoonguss, pex, zapdos, venu, chansey, defensive volc can come in. some like zapdos and pex gotta watch out for z-fleur or z-tbolt for example av tang too
looks good 2/3

Okay so a couple of us talked about it. This is probably not final, but if you do request a 4th QC check or perhaps a sit-down on what to use / not use with it I'm willing to compromise on that because this Pokemon is really fucking hard.

Okay Trick Room for starters:

[SET]
name: Trick Room
move 1: Trick Room
move 2: Focus Blast
move 3: Fleur Cannon / Ice Beam
move 4: Thunderbolt / Flash Cannon
item: Fairium Z / Fightinium Z
ability: Soul-Heart
nature: Quiet
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
ivs: 0 Spe

- If you want you can Speed creep 1 Speed point below Sassy Celesteela (22 Speed IVs). Usually Sassy Celesteela don't run 0 Speed.
- In Moves: You can mention Hidden Power Fire, also mention that BoltBeam + Focus Blast is an option. I feel Fleur is best when you have Fairium Z in hand, though I do know some people have run without Fairium Z with Fleur Cannon and still do fine (it just makes things a bit wonkier). You can throw Aura Sphere in here too if accuracy is a concern (but obviously don't run Fightinium).
- Set Details - Mention Electrium Z as an item option for Thunderbolt since it still blows through Celesteela and does okay against majority Steels and the like. I haven't seen Subzero (only heard of it and don't know from who) and never seen Corkscrew (I'd only use this if Grass-types are a huge bitch and fsr you feared Mega Venusaur).

Shift Gear is hard...

[SET]
name: Shift Gear
move 1: Shift Gear
move 2: Focus Blast
move 3: Fleur Cannon / Ice Beam
move 4: Thunderbolt / Flash Cannon
item: Fairium Z / Electrium Z
ability: Soul-Heart
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- anti and others felt Electrium is a bit more important in this set since you REALLY don't want to be bodied by Celesteela here.
- Kind of same ordeal with Moves: I'd like you to mention Calm Mind instead of HP Fire. Shift Gear / Calm Mind combo uses BoltBeam. Aura Sphere once again is fine in Moves but obviously not with Fightinium Z.
- Set Details - Fightinium Z with Focus Blast.
- Shuca Berry if Z Moves are being used.

AV seems okay but that one I don't have a solid opinion. Basically only thing I would do is slash Aura Sphere next to HP Fire for Heatran catches. I think the heftier SpD is better, but we'll discuss it further.

After a Trick Room, Magearna "outpaces" the majority of the metagame, allowing it to wreck havoc on a lot of teams with the combination of its bulk, power, and unpredictability. Fleur Cannon is Magearna's strongest attack, and it hits ridiculously hard with Fairium Z. Considering how short-lived Trick Room is, the immediate power provided by Twinkle Tackle is preferred in order to kickstart Soul-Heart and sweep teams in the clutch. Focus Blast, despite its imperfect accuracy, is used to hit a large amount of Fairy resists such as Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Magnezone, for huge damage. Thunderbolt is used as a filler because it can hit Toxapex, Mantine, and Pokemon such as Keldeo without resorting to the side-effect of Fleur Cannon's Special Attack drop. Flash Cannon is an option over Thunderbolt on Fairium Z sets because it is a reliable secondary STAB attack and has a different range of targets when it comes to avoiding the drops of Fleur Cannon such as Tapu Bulu, Mega Heracross, and Mew.

With Electrium Z, Gigavolt Havoc does massive damage to Pokemon that normally wall Magearna such as Celesteela and specially defensive Toxapex, while doing massive damage to checks Twinkle Tackle does less to such as Volcarona and Mega Scizor. Using Fleur Cannon can be proven inconsistent on Electrium Z sets due to its drops. Thus, Flash Cannon is an alternative to Fleur Cannon as a reliable STAB move late-game.

Hidden Power [Fire] can be used over Focus Blast, trading coverage versus Heatran in order to defeat Mega Scizor. Aura Sphere is a 100% accurate Fighting-type move, but it requires its targets such as Ferrothorn and Magnezone to be at a low amount of health.

Set Details
========

Fightinium Z seems like an appealing option for breaking full HP Heatran, Ferrothorn, and other Steel-types, but Trick Room should be set up late-game, especially in a setting where Focus Blast targets are in range of the move. Electrium Z's viability comes off the fact of how Celesteela and Toxapex find themselves at close to full health, even late-game, because of their access to Leech Seed and Regenerator, respectively.

Maximum Special Attack is used so Magearna can perform to the best of its capabilities when sweeping teams. The rest of the investment is thrown into HP so Magearna has an easier time setting up Trick Room, the main perk this set has over Shift Gear. A Quiet nature and 0 IVs in Speed is utilized so Magearna can outspeed as many possible Pokemon in Trick Room. Soul-Heart boosts Magearna's Special Attack a stage whenever a Pokemon faints, producing a snowball effect that makes Magearna unstoppable in the right circumstances.

Usage Tips
========
Magearna best performs late-game in that the later you send it, the higher chance it will have in securing a sweep. After a Trick Room, use Twinkle Tackle right away for a free KO and Soul-Heart boost unless there is something you obviously cannot Twinkle Tackle in front of Magearna such as Heatran. This comes back to the point of trying to set up as late as possible as this is the stage of the game where the opposing team is the most weakened. Sweeping with Electrium Z sets is a bit different because they should be more focused on timing instead of patience that [? trailed off here]

Magearna is a threat to many teams, but it will find itself useless in certain matches depending on its moveset, leaving it walled by Pokemon such as Roost Volcarona, Celesteela, and Mega Scizor for example. Because of the lack of pressure Magearna exerts in these matchups, Magearna may as well use the bulk Trick Room sets have to trade KOes versus Garchomp and check Tapu Lele for example.

Team Options
========

Electrium Z sets lack the ability to kickstart Soul-Heart without Twinkle Tackle so Spikes help these variants function. Ferrothorn and Greninja are the best Pokemon for this role. Specially defensive Skarmory is an interesting teammate as it can set up Spikes and wear down the opponent's team with Whirlwind. Landorus-T is a good teammate as always, setting up Stealth Rock and netting crucial chip and momentum with U-turn.

Magearna does have access to Trick Room so Alolan Marowak and Mega Mawile are fine teammates as they force in a lot of Pokemon non-Fairium Z Magearna struggles with such as Landorus-T and Rotom-W. They also pressure Celesteela. Magearna is a staple on full Trick Room teams so Uxie, Cresselia, and Porygon2 are good teammates if Magearna is used on this archetype.

Fleur Cannon is Magearna's strongest and most spammable attack, doing a hefty chunk to anything that does not resist it. Magearna is a natural check to Tapu Lele and Clefable, so it only makes sense to have Flash Cannon to force them out. Hidden Power [Fire] is the preferred option, since Magearna can threaten Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. However, Ice Beam is an option for OHKOing Landorus-T, offensive Zygarde, and Garchomp on the switch. Volt Switch turns Magearna into a great pivot as it allows it to gain momentum on Pokemon it cannot normally break such as Toxapex and Chansey for teammates to take advantage of.

Set Details
========
A Calm nature with the following EV spread lets Magearna come in on Choice Specs Gengar's Shadow Ball three times with Stealth Rock damage, making Magearna a semi-consistent check to one of the most threatening breakers in the tier. A more offensive variant of this set with max Special Attack and a Modest nature is viable for punishing switches harder. However, Magearna loses a lot of defensive utility when it comes to checking Greninja for example. Soul-Heart is Magearna's only available ability.

Usage Tips
========
Magearna should be used to switch into dangerous special attackers such as Tapu Lele, Gengar, Tapu Koko, and Greninja. While Volt Switch does gain the most leverage for teammates, double switching or using Fleur Cannon may be the better plays if there is a Ground-type or Alolan Marowak on the opponent's team. Remember that Fleur Cannon still has a decent amount of power behind it, so using it does not forfeit as much momentum as one expects it to, especially for max Special Attack variants. Volt Switch may not be smart on a confirmed Protean Greninja as Magearna can be Spikes fodder to it.

While Magearna does check a lot of special attackers, throwing it in right away may not be the best move. For example, Magearna is indeed a solid check to Gengar and Latios, but middle-ground plays may have to made to scout for a possible Trick. Another example is when coming in on to Pokemon such as Clefable, Tornadus-T, and Alolan Muk as Magearna may not want to have its Assault Vest removed so early in the game.

Team Options
========

Magearna is bait to two of the most dangerous Pokemon in the tier, Volcarona and Zygarde. It would only be natural to have counterplay to these threats. Mantine, Toxapex, and specially defensive Zygarde are great teammates for checking most variants of Volcarona, while opposing Zygarde can be check through the use of physically defensive Tangrowth and Landorus-T. Tangrowth in particular can net extra recovery for Magearna with Leech Seed.

Magearna appreciates hazard support due to the amount of switches it forces. Greninja is the best Spikes user for this role as Ferrothorn brings redundant defensive synergy with Magearna. Stealth Rock users include Landorus-T and Heatran, while Toxapex makes an excellent user of Toxic Spikes. VoltTurn teammates are appreciated because Magearna has Volt Switch. Ash-Greninja, Landorus-T, and Tapu Koko are good examples, though be sure to have solid counterplay for Alolan Marowak if the latter is chosen. Strong wallbreakers such as Mega Heracross, Protean Greninja, Gengar, and Volcarona appreciate Magearna forcing in Tangrowth and Heatran. The threat of such Pokemon may influence the opponent to not go into such passive Pokemon, allowing Magearna to make easier reads on incoming Ground-types for a double switch or straight up attacking with Fleur Cannon.

Shift Gear trades the bulk, power, and match-up against faster Choice Scarf users such as Keldeo and Dugtrio for more reliability in completing a successful sweep. Shift Gear boosts Magearna's Speed 2 stages, allowing it to outpace everything up to Choice Scarf Nihilego. The Attack boost does not matter because Magearna is a special attacker. Fleur Cannon is Magearna's strongest attack, and it hits ridiculously hard with Fairium Z. Focus Blast is used to OHKO offensive Heatran and Excadrill after Stealth Rock, while doing massive damage to other Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Magnezone. Thunderbolt completes Magearna's coverage, allowing it to hit Pokemon such as Keldeo and Mega Pinsir, while breaking specially defensive Toxapex and Celesteela if paired with Electrium Z. Flash Cannon is an option over Thunderbolt on sets using Fairium Z because it gives Magearna a way to avoid Special Attack drops dealt by Fleur Cannon when trying to eliminate Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and Mega Heracross.

Flash Cannon can be used in the first slot on sets not using Fairium Z because it provides a reliable STAB move for cleaning unlike the side effects on Fleur Cannon. Ice Beam is an appealing option because it provides the best possible coverage on sets with Fightinium Z sets, nailing Pokemon such as Zapdos and Landorus-T.

Aura Sphere can be used for its reliable accuracy, but the reason to use Shift Gear is it has the capabilities to sweep earlier in the match than Trick Room can due to the lack of the limited turns. Aura Sphere contradicts this niche. Hidden Power [Fire] can be used over Focus Blast, trading coverage versus Heatran in order to defeat Mega Scizor.

Set Details
========

Max Speed and a Timid nature is necessary so Magearna can outspeed Choice Scarf Garchomp. The remaining investment is used in Special Attack to maximize Magearna's sweeping capabilities. Fairium Z is best utilized with Fleur Cannon, resulting in a 195 Base Power Twinkle Tackle which can easily produce the snowball effect of Soul-Heart due to its ridiculous power. However, Electrium Z is a decent option due to the prevalence of Toxapex and Celesteela.

Shift Gear gives up the utility of Magearna's typing and bulk for Magearna's full potential which is the ability to set-up mid-game and start breaking defensive cores. Fightinium Z is a very solid option since it capitalizes on Shift Gear's versatility, allowing Magearna to break healthy Steel-types as Pokemon such as Ferrothorn are found at comfortable amounts of HP during these stages of gameplay. Fightinium Z grants Magearna a 190 Base Power All-out Plummeling, supporting Magearna itself and more importantly its teammates. Do not use Fightinium Z with Aura Sphere as it makes All-out Plummeling much weaker.

Shift Gear Magearna can run a Shuca Berry or Air Balloon to set up on most Ground-types, but Magearna becomes a less reliable cleaner without a Z-crystal. Ice Beam is best used on these sets in order to lure in Pokemon such as Zygarde and Landorus-T.

Usage Tips
========

Shift Gear sets can be used as mid-game breakers because of its use of Speed investment and unlimited turns for sweeping unlike Trick Room. As a result, try to bring Magearna as early as possible so it can pave itself a path for a sweep late-game. Fightinium Z sets can destroy Ferrothorn with the right oppurtunity for example while Electrium Z sets can be timed to blow back Toxapex. If Magearna is your primary win-condition, make sure it does not take any damage as it will need its health to set up and avoid being revenge killed from Pokemon as Ash-Greninja and Keldeo.

Depending on the matchup, it may be best to bring Magearna in recklessly and break as many holes as possible as Magearna's typing does not bring as much defensive utility as one may think due to the lack of defensive investment. On a similar note, Magearna should set up on Pokemon it forces out such as Tapu Lele or choice locked attacks such as Greninja's Dark Pulse.

Team Options
========

Shift Gear Magearna shares a lot of teammates with its Trick Room set. Greninja and Ferrothorn can provide crucial Spikes support while Psychic-types such as Hoopa-U, Mega Alakazam, Tapu Lele, and Latios make great teammates for their ability to pressure Steel-types.

However, Shift Gear Magearna is not only a sweeper but it can also function as a wallbreaker so teammates that appreciate its wallbreaking capabilities are appreciated. [this sentence is a little janky] Swords Dance Mega Mawile appreciates Electrium Z Magearna destroying Toxapex so it can run Fire Fang over Knock Off or Thunder Punch. Fightinium Z Magearna are great teammates for the aforementioned Psychic-types, especially faster ones such as Mega Alakazam and Choice Scarf Latios and Tapu Lele.

Other Options
=============

Z-Flash Cannon is a powerful move with the purpose of the activating Soul-Heart similar to Twinkle Tackle. The move is weaker yet has a different range of targets, making Corkscrew Crash a fine choice on teams weak to Mega Venusaur and, more importantly, opposing Magearna. Other Z-crystals that can be used are Icium Z for Tangrowth, Zapdos, and Amoonguss and Ghostium Z for Jirachi, Alolan Marowak, and Mew.

Choice Specs boosts Magearna's Special Attack through the roof. To put this power into perspective, resists such as Alolan Marowak and Gengar find themselves being OHKOed by Fleur Cannon after Stealth Rock damage. The threat of Choice Specs makes Magearna a much more immediate threat to defensive teams but this notion is inconsistent in practice due to its inability to switch moves. Choice Scarf sets are viable for outpacing everything up to Tornadus-T and abusing Volt Switch, Fleur Cannon, and more importantly, Magearna's great coverage to surprise threats such as Landorus-T and Zygarde with Ice Beam.

Calm Mind can be paired with Trick Room or Shift Gear to form a "double dance" set. However, Magearna would rather have coverage instead of boosting its Special Attack which can already be done via Soul-Heart. Finally, a specially defensive set with Thunder Wave, Volt Switch, Pain Split, and Fleur Cannon can be used to spread status and heal itself, but Magearna generally prefers the extra bulk provided by Assault Vest.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Steel-types**: Heatran, Ferrothorn, specially defensive Excadrill, Celesteela, Mega Mawile, and Scizor force out Magearna as they can tank a hit and KO back. However, a Z-Move such as All-out Plummeling and Gigavolt Havoc, or coverage move such as Hidden Power Fire in Scizor's case can invalidate these Pokemon. Jirachi and Bronzong are exceptions as they defeat every variant of Magearna outside of the rare Never-ending Nightmare set. Assault Vest Magearna defeats offensive Magearna first, but it can lose to sets with Corkscrew Crash.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Volcarona, Mega Charizard Y, and Heatran are solid checks by typing but must once again watch out for specific Z-Moves which can invalidate them. Alolan Marowak is a solid check in general as it blocks Volt Switch due to Lightning Rod. However, it once again has the same problems as many other "checks" as it drops to Twinkle Tackle after Stealth Rock.

**Ground-types**: Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Zygarde force out Magearna with their powerful STAB moves. It also makes Magearna think twice before mindlessly clicking Volt Switch. However, Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Zygarde are not guaranteed switch-ins as they will be destroyed by Fleur Cannon and can be lured in with Shuca Berry sets.

Fairium Z grants Magearna access to a 195 Base (remove hyphen) Power Twinkle Tackle, a great move for kickstarting Soul-Heart and invalidating checks such as Landorus-T. (period) late-game, especially in a setting where Focus Blast targets are in range of the move. (swapped around the clauses to make the contradiction more evident) Electrium Z's viability comes off results from the fact of how that Celesteela and Toxapex find themselves at close to full health, even late-game, because of their access to Leech Seed and Regenerator, respectively. Fightinium Z is still an option if the a Magearna user wants more assurance against Steel-types, though a Shift Gear set would probably be best to fulfill this purpose.

Maximum Special Attack investment is used so Magearna can perform to the best of its capabilities when sweeping teams. The rest of the investment is thrown into HP so Magearna has an easier time setting up Trick Room, the main perk this set has over Shift Gear. A Quiet nature and 0 IVs in Speed is are utilized so Magearna can outspeed as many possible Pokemon in under Trick Room. Sweeping with Electrium Z sets is a bit different because they should be more focused on timing (maybe reword/qualify this, as patience for Fairium Z sets seems to be a form of timing too?) instead of the patience factor Fairium Z sets have.

Magearna is a threat to many teams, but it will find itself useless in certain matches depending on its moveset, leaving which can leave it walled by Pokemon such as Roost Volcarona, Celesteela, and Mega Scizor for example. Moves

(should the last paragraph in this section go to other options? it's not discussing moves that are slashed on the listed set)

A Shift Gear set trades the Trick Room sets' bulk, power, and match-up favorable matchup against faster Choice Scarf users such as Keldeo and Dugtrio for more reliability in completing a successful sweep. Focus Blast is used to OHKO offensive Heatran and Excadrill after Stealth Rock, (remove comma) while doing massive damage to other Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Magnezone. Thunderbolt completes Magearna's coverage, allowing it to hit Pokemon such as Keldeo and Mega Pinsir, (remove comma) while breaking specially defensive Toxapex and Celesteela if paired with Electrium Z. Flash Cannon is an option over Thunderbolt on sets using Fairium Z because it gives Magearna a way to avoid Fleur Cannon's Special Attack drops dealt by Fleur Cannon when trying to eliminate Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and Mega Heracross. (maybe put this sentence into the next paragraph so you talk about all the slashed alternatives at once)

Flash Cannon can be used in the first slot on non-Fairium Z sets not using Fairium Z because it provides a reliable STAB move for cleaning unlike without the side effects on of Fleur Cannon. Ice Beam is an appealing option because it provides the best possible coverage on sets with Fightinium Z sets, (either "sets with Fightinium Z" or "Fightinium Z sets") nailing Pokemon such as Zapdos and Landorus-T.

Aura Sphere can be used for its reliable accuracy, but the reason to use Shift Gear is its capability has the capabilities to sweep earlier in the match than a Trick Room set (or "Trick Room Magearna", etc.) can due to the lack of the limited turns, (period to comma) and Aura Sphere contradicts this niche. Hidden Power Fire can be used over Focus Blast, trading coverage versus Heatran in order to defeat Mega Scizor.

Finally, a set consisting of using ("consisting of" implies that the following make up the entire set) Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Focus Blast, and Fightinium Z can be used to maximize coverage. This set will requires Spikes support in order to be make up for the its lack of STAB moves to threaten Pokemon such as Tapu Lele for example. Calm Mind can be used alongside Shift Gear to form a Double Dance set; Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are mandatory with this set, as they maximize coverage, but the lack of Focus Blast coverage makes can be problematic at times. Thunderbolt and Ice Beam is mandatory coverage with this set as it maximizes coverage. (integrated into previous sentence to make it clearer why you're not using Focus Blast.)

Maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature is are necessary so for Magearna can to outspeed Choice Scarf Garchomp. Do not use Fightinium Z with Aura Sphere, (comma) as it makes All-Out Pummeling All-out Plummeling much weaker.

(should this go in other options?)
(remove a line break)

Usage Tips
========

Shift Gear sets can be used as mid-game breakers because of its their use of Speed investment and unlimited turns for sweeping, (comma) unlike Trick Room. As a result, try to bring in Magearna as early as possible so it can pave itself a path for a sweep late-game. Fightinium Z sets can destroy Ferrothorn with the right opportunity, (comma) oppurtunity for example, (comma) while Electrium Z sets can be timed to blow back Toxapex. If Magearna is your primary wincon, win-condition, make sure it does not take any damage, (comma) as it will need its health to set up and avoid being revenge killed from by Pokemon such as Ash-Greninja and Keldeo.

Depending on the matchup, it may be best to bring Magearna in recklessly and break as many holes as possible, (comma) as Magearna's typing does not bring as much defensive utility as one may might think due to the this set's lack of defensive investment. On a similar note, Magearna should set up on Pokemon it forces out, (comma) such as Tapu Lele, (comma) or choice resisted Choice-locked attacks such as Greninja's Dark Pulse.

Team Options
========

Shift Gear Magearna shares a lot of teammates with its Trick Room set. (I think you already restate the teammates here, but in future cases avoid directly referencing another set so readers don't have to jump between sets and updating analyses is easier) Greninja and Ferrothorn can provide crucial Spikes support for Magearna, (comma) while Psychic-types such as Hoopa-U, Mega Alakazam, Tapu Lele, and Latios make great teammates for their ability to pressure Steel-types. Swords Dance Mega Mawile appreciates Electrium Z Magearna destroying Toxapex so that it can run Fire Fang over Knock Off or Thunder Punch. Fightinium Z Magearna are great teammates is a great teammate to remove Steel-types for the aforementioned Psychic-types, especially faster ones such as Mega Alakazam, Tapu Lele, and Choice Scarf Latios and Tapu Lele. (maybe move this sentence one sentence earlier to link your refernces to Psychic-types)

Z-Flash Cannon Corkscrew Crash is a powerful move with the purpose of the activating Soul-Heart, (comma) similar to Twinkle Tackle. The move is weaker yet but has a different range of targets, making that makes Corkscrew Crash a fine choice on teams weak to Mega Venusaur and, more importantly, opposing Magearna. Other Z-Crystals that can be used are Icium Z for Tangrowth, Zapdos, and Amoonguss and Ghostium Z for Jirachi, Alolan Marowak, and Mew.

Choice Specs boosts Magearna's Special Attack through the roof. To put this power into perspective, resists even Pokemon that resist Fairy such as Alolan Marowak and Gengar find themselves being OHKOed by Fleur Cannon after Stealth Rock damage. The threat of Choice Specs makes Magearna a much more immediate threat to defensive teams, (comma) but this notion is inconsistent in practice due to its inability to switch moves. Choice Scarf sets are viable for outpacing everything up to Tornadus-T and abusing Volt Switch, Fleur Cannon, and more importantly, Magearna's great coverage to surprise threats such as Landorus-T and Zygarde with Ice Beam.

Calm Mind can be paired with Trick Room or Shift Gear to form a Double Dance "double dance" set. (you already mention the Shift Gear part of this above—could you move details from here up or details from there down?) However, Magearna would rather have coverage instead of boosting its Special Attack, (comma) which can already be done via Soul-Heart. Finally, a specially defensive set with Thunder Wave, Volt Switch, Pain Split, and Fleur Cannon can be used to spread status and heal itself, but Magearna generally prefers the extra bulk provided by Assault Vest.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Steel-types**: Heatran, Ferrothorn, specially defensive Excadrill, Celesteela, Mega Mawile, and Scizor force out Magearna, (comma) as they can tank a hit and KO it back. However, a Z-Move such as All-Out Pummeling or All-out Plummeling and Gigavolt Havoc, or a coverage move such as Hidden Power Fire in Scizor's case, (comma) can invalidate these Pokemon. Jirachi and Bronzong are exceptions, (comma) as they defeat every variant of Magearna outside of the rare Never-Ending Nightmare set. Assault Vest Magearna defeats offensive Magearna first, but it can lose to sets with Corkscrew Crash.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Volcarona, Mega Charizard Y, and Heatran are solid checks to Magearna by typing but must once again watch out for specific Z-Moves which that can invalidate them. Alolan Marowak is a solid check to Magearna in general as it blocks Volt Switch due to Lightning Rod. However, it once again has the same problems as many other "checks" as because it drops to Twinkle Tackle after Stealth Rock.

**Ground-types**: Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Zygarde force out Magearna with their powerful STAB moves. It also makes They also make Magearna users think twice before mindlessly clicking Volt Switch. However, Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Zygarde are not guaranteed switch-ins, (comma) as they will be destroyed by Fleur Cannon and can be lured in and KOed with Shuca Berry sets.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Amoonguss, Toxapex, Zapdos, Venusaur, Chansey, defensive Volcarona, and Assault Vest Tangrowth are some specially defensive Pokemon that can wall Magearna depending on its Z-Move. All of them make fine checks to Assault Vest sets.

non-stab shift gear was listed as a small paragraph on the actual set because it is too good to be thrown into other options.

thanks for the check! sorry about shift gear since there were a lot of silly mistakes there. next time i'll do the proofreading instead of gmars lol

Moves
========

After a Trick Room, Magearna "outpaces" outpaces ("outpace" is accepted as meaning "to move first") the majority of the metagame, allowing it to wreak havoc on a lot of teams with the combination of its bulk, power, and unpredictability.

Set Details
========

Fairium Z grants Magearna access to a 195 Base Power 195-Base Power Twinkle Tackle, a great move for kickstarting Soul-Heart and invalidating checks such as Landorus-T. Fightinium Z is still an option if a Magearna user wants more assurance against Steel-types, though a Shift Gear set would probably be is usually ("would probably be" sounds like you're unsure / haven't tested it. I think what you're trying to say is that most of the time shift gear has more utility) best to fulfill this purpose.

Usage Tips
========
Magearna best performs late-game in that the later you send it out, the higher chance it will have of securing a sweep. After setting up Trick Room, use Twinkle Tackle right away for a free KO and Soul-Heart boost unless Magearna faces something it obviously cannot beat with Twinkle Tackle (is this right?) such as Heatran. This comes back to the point of trying to set up as late as possible, as this is the stage of the game when the opposing team is the most weakened. Sweeping with Electrium Z sets is a bit different because they should be more focused on timing instead of the patience factor Fairium Z sets have.

Magearna is a threat to many teams, but it will find itself useless in certain matches depending on its moveset, which can leave it as it's (the fact that Magearna is useless in certain matchups is not the reason why it's walled by certain Pokemon - I think you mean the other way around?) walled by Pokemon such as Roost Volcarona, Celesteela, and Mega Scizor. Because of the lack of pressure Magearna exerts in these matchups, Magearna it may as well use the bulk Trick Room sets have to trade KOs versus Garchomp and check Tapu Lele, for example.

Team Options
========

Specially defensive Skarmory is an interesting ("interesting" doesn't really tell the reader much, is it a useful teammate or not?) teammate, as it can set up Spikes and wear down the opponent's team with Whirlwind. Landorus-T is a good teammate, as it can set setting up Stealth Rock and netting net crucial chip damage and momentum with U-turn.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========
Remember that Fleur Cannon still has a decent amount of power behind it, so using it does not forfeit as much momentum as one might expect it to, especially for max maximum Special Attack variants.

While Magearna does check a lot of special attackers, throwing switching it in right away might not be the best move.

========

VoltTurn teammates are appreciated because Magearna has Volt Switch (maybe mention how its access to volt switch is relevant - is it because it can form voltturn cores?).

Moves
========

A Shift Gear set trades Trick Room sets' bulk, power, and favorable matchup against faster Choice Scarf users such as Keldeo and Dugtrio for more reliability in completing a successful sweep. Shift Gear boosts Magearna's Speed 2 by two stages, allowing it to outpace everything up to Choice Scarf Nihilego. The Attack boost does not matter because Magearna is a special attacker. Fleur Cannon is Magearna's strongest attack, and it hits ridiculously hard with Fairium Z. Flash Cannon is an option over Thunderbolt on sets using Fairium Z because it gives Magearna a way to avoid Fleur Cannon's Special Attack drops when trying to eliminate Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and Mega Heracross.

Flash Cannon can be used in the first slot (don't you mean the second slot?) on non-Fairium Z sets because it provides a reliable STAB move for cleaning without the side effects of Fleur Cannon. Ice Beam is an appealing option because it provides the best possible coverage on sets with Fightinium Z sets, nailing Pokemon such as Zapdos and Landorus-T.

Finally, a set using Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Focus Blast, and Fightinium Z can be used to maximize coverage. This set requires Spikes support in order to make up for its lack of STAB moves to threaten Pokemon such as Tapu Lele. Calm Mind can be used alongside Shift Gear to form a Double Dance set; Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are mandatory with this set, as they maximize coverage, but the lack of Focus Blast coverage (or "Fighting-type coverage") can be problematic at times.
Set Details
========

Fairium Z is best utilized with Fleur Cannon, resulting in a 195 Base Power 195-Base Power Twinkle Tackle that can easily lead to the snowball effect of Soul-Heart due to its ridiculous power. However, Electrium Z is a decent option due to the prevalence of Toxapex and Celesteela.

Shift Gear gives up the utility of Magearna's typing and bulk for Magearna's full potential, which is the ability to set up mid-game and start breaking defensive cores. Fightinium Z is a very solid option, (AC) since it capitalizes on Shift Gear's versatility, allowing Magearna to break healthy Steel-types, as Pokemon such as Ferrothorn are at comfortable amounts of HP at this stage of gameplay. Fightinium Z grants Magearna a 190 Base Power 190-Base Power All-Out Pummeling, supporting Magearna itself and more importantly its teammates by removing Heatran, Ferrothorn, and a weakened Mega Scizor. Do not use Fightinium Z with Aura Sphere, as it makes All-Out Pummeling much weaker.

Usage Tips
========

Depending on the matchup, it may be best to bring Magearna in recklessly and break as many holes as possible, as Magearna's typing does not bring as much defensive utility as one might think due to this set's lack of defensive investment. On a similar note, Magearna should set up on Pokemon it forces out, such as Tapu Lele, or resisted Choice-locked attacks such as Greninja's Dark Pulse (Ash-Greninja?).

Team Options
