Project NU Archetype Cores: Discuss Your Experiences! (HIATUS)

This core basically uses Hariyama's capabilities to whittle down Pinsir and Swellow's checks, which soon letting the two sweep or at least wallbreak for the core.

Pinsir- Pinsir's ability to hit common physical walls like weezing with EQ makes it a good set-up sweeper, though its mediocre speed makes it vulnerable to faster threats

Hariyama-
Hariyama is good check to fire/ice type moves in this meta, which threatens pinsir and swellow, and AV is a good item to make Hariyama a decent spd wall.

Swellow- Swellow's speed makes it the fastest pokemon in NU (bar scarfed mons). Swellow is pretty much of a good speed control in this team, given that Pinsir and Hariyama only has a decent speed tier. Also deals with faster threats like Scyther,Pyroar,Non-Scarf Jynx and etc.

The core uses HP Ground on Viv to lure steel and rock types which wall Swellow, Hitmonchan is then used to spin away hazards as the core is very weak to stealth rocks.

Swellow: The physical sweeper of the core it's speed allows it to work as a late game sweeper.

Vivillon: Vivillon is the only special attacker of the core and it also works as a sweeper that can destroy Swellows checks.

Hitmonchan: The much needed spinner of the core, it also works as a counter to rock types.
Swellow @ Flame Orb

Okay I'm giving this to quziel as I won't have time to update this later. All of these cores showed some interesting offensive synergy so thanks to everyone for your submissions! For the 30th week of this thread, we'll go back to another classic theme:
! You all know how solid this core is due to its excellent offensive coverage and plethora of complementary resistances and immunities.

Submissions are due in on Saturday 6th August at 18:00GMT as that's when I get back from Edinburgh. Have fun!

Haryana @ Choice Band | Thick Fat
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe | Adamant
Close Combat | Knock Off | Ice Punch | Bullet Punch / Earthquake

Musharna @ Leftovers | Synchronize
240 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpD | Bold
Psychic | Yawn | Moonlight | Baton Pass

Liepard @ Dread Plate | Prankster
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe | Adamant
Knock Off | Encore | U-turn | Pursuit / Sucker Punch

This is a balanced Fighting/Psychic/Dark core that is meant to gain and utilize momentum to stop threatening offensive Pokemon and break through defensive ones. Yawn Pass Musharna can gain momentum on approximately everything in the tier, and from there you can either keep the momentum going with Liepard or start smacking stuff with Hariyama. Slow BP into Encore Liepard also stops most setup Pokemon that try to take advantage of Musharna. Thick Fat Hariyama because three Pokemon with only one type makes it harder to cover stuff defensively in the last three slots, but Musharna checks so much in one slot that you could probably just run Guts anyways.

Bronzor @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psywave
- Stealth Rock
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Hariyama @ Assault Vest
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Bullet Punch
- Stone Edge/Fake Out/Whatever else

Skuntank @ Lum Berry
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 232 Atk / 132 SpD / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Poison Jab
- Taunt

So Bronzor is a very niche but useful Pokemon in the NU metagame due to its ability to handle the likes of Jynx and Tauros without Fire Blast. For the sake of uniqueness I decided to build a core around it. It's generally seen on balance or defensive teams, and the former is what I went with when making this core. The first mon that came to mind when thinking about Bronzor is Thick Fat Hariyama, due to its ability to handle Fire and Dark-types. Skuntank packs a surprising amount of utility, and I chose it over Liepard because of its ability to handle Mega Audino (unless Hidden Power Ground or some shit like that). Its weakness to Ground is covered with Bronzor. Lum Berry + Taunt also stops most status users in their tracks.

This is a stretch for a "Fighting/Psychic/Dark" Core- it's more of a sun core but it fits the requirements so meh 8)

Liepard @ Heat Rock
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sunny Day
- Encore
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Exeggutor @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Solar Beam
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sleep Powder

Primeape @ Choice Band
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Liepard is one of the best weather setters in this tier; in this case, being a Sun Setter for Exeggutor. It weakens walls by Knocking Off their items and forms a nice U-turn core with Primeape. Exeggutor is one of the best sun sweepers in the tier, and it weakens Pokemon that CB Primeape has trouble breaking like Defensive Mega Audino and Weezing. Meanwhile, Primeape weakens stuff like Steel-types and AV Magmortar, which Exeggutor has trouble breaking. U-turn can give Exeggutor free switch-ins which it really enjoys. Just a great sun core with good synergy.

Poliwrath @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Vacuum Wave

Musharna @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Baton Pass
- Moonlight

Skuntank @ Lum Berry
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 232 Atk / 132 SpD / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Taunt
- Poison Jab

Basically, this core centers around Musharna's baton pass set, which is a very fun set that struggles when facing dark types, psychic types, and the odd ghost type. Poliwrath is an excellent recipient, as it has the correct mix of priority, high bp moves, and coverage, and can take on many threats to musharna such as skuntank, steelix, and just generally sponge most dark type attacks in the tier. Musharna also struggles against enemy psychic types, shiftry, and enemy ghost types, which it can't solve by passing to poliwrath, all of which have fairly horrible matchups against pursuit skuntank. Really, the main problem of the core is its speed, but it can form an excellent backbone for a balance team.

Hariyama @ Assault Vest

- Earthquake / Stone Edge

Jynx @ Leftovers

EVs: 252 SpA / 108 SpD / 148 Spe

Hariyama helps Jynx by dealing with Steel and Fire types. Jynx takes care of Flying types, bulky Grass types and Poison types. Skuntank removes hazards Jynx doesn't appreciate and also takes care of Mega Audino. Pretty simple core that has good synergy.

Not sure if it's allowed but i'll give it a try.
Gurdurr + Musharna are two solid set-up sweepers and they beat each others counters. I then added Defog Skuntank to get hazard control and a way to beat fairies and psychics.

Gurdurr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Atk / 52 Def / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch

Balance Fighting/Psychic/Dark core that utilizes Grumpigs utility with Thunder Wave and Taunt to support both Shiftry and Gurdurr as well as assist in slowing down terrifying threats as a whole and stop opposing mons from setting hazards,setting-up ect ect also Grumpig is fat which is cool

and

Congratulations to ryan and Melons-N-Soda for winning this round! You all know how good PDF cores are so I'll skip the summary. One thing I noticed however was that most of these cores were weak to Scyther, so if you use cores like these on your teams, make sure to pack a good Scyther check. The theme for this week is
spam! Ghost has very few resistances outside of the Normal-type immunity, so it can be a potent attacking type for overwhelming opponents with.

Please submit three-Pokemon-cores by Saturday 21st August at 12:00 GMT!
