Rate of the Week
This is a project that looks to bring quality individual rates into the spotlight and recognise the hard work of unbadged raters.
  • Each week, official Team Raters will be paying close attention to the RMT forum and reading the rates posted in their respective tiers. They will then shortlist a few which will be in contention for the Rate of the Week award.
  • From the pool of shortlisted rates, one will be chosen which most exemplifies the qualities of an excellent rate. That rater will be the winner for that particular tier.
  • A post will be made by an official TR who specialises in that tier, explaining how and why the particular rate won. This will allow aspiring raters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality rates, and hopefully incorporate those aspects into their own rates.
  • There can be multiple winners every week - ideally one from OU and a couple from other tiers depending on the quality of the rates posted. We hope that in this way we can expand rating activity in less popular tiers, while maintaining a weekly OU winner.
  • Official Team Raters are eligible to win, but unbadged raters will have priority since they are the main focus of this project.
So what's in it for the winners? They will earn a place in the Hall of Fame, which will be kept in the OP of every thread, and will earn more consideration for the Ladybug
and Team Rater
badges. Also, after gaining three places in the Hall of Fame, a rater will be eligible to earn voice status in the RMT room on PS on the condition that they've shown an interest in getting involved.

We hope that this project will encourage people to put more effort into their rates and become better and more experienced raters, which will consequently increase the quality as well as the quantity of rates in the forum.

Surprisingly this week's winner is not just one user as usual. I'm happy to announce two winners for this week, I'm talking about Gross Sweep and Snowy , i decided to go for a tie because both rates were really good, i believe these rates are showing a very high quality. They will be a good example for new raters in the forum.

I'll start with Snowy, he did a very good and detailed rate, he started off mentioning the team lacks in raw power and sets are not designed to support sweepers, Afterwards he started replacing Zapdos with Scarf Healing Wish Latias, which gives to the team a solid Charizard y and Heatran switch in and it also provides Healing wish allowing to use mega Gyarados more freely giving to it a second chance to sweep. After that, our esteemed RMT moderator suggested to replace Scarf protean Greninja with Choice Specs Ash Greninja, as the team do not need anymore the utility scarf Greninja offers due to the addition of Latias as the designed Scarfer for the team. Ash Greninja also provides priority in Water Shuriken and Spikes which are both useful to wear down threaten pokemons.

After the addition to choice specs Greninja to the team, he proceed to change some sets and spreads, he started changing Landorus set, replacing smack down over rock polish, which helps to not being walled by the likes of Celesteela, Skarmory and Zapdos, afterwards he suggested Substitute over Swords dance, which Landorus can take full advantage due to all the free switches it creates, whereupon snowy changed Heatran set to Taunt Magma storm which comes in help to trap Toxapex for mega Gyarados. Finally Snowy changed the Gyarados set to Substitute + Earthquake + Stab which destroys the common Celepex core also changing mega gyara's spread allowing it to outspeed mega Lopunny and the uncommon mega Manectric after a dragon dance boost. After these massive changes he went on to suggest small and alternative changes. he started suggesting stealth rock on Landorus giving to the team a better rocks setter versus stall teams and in the meantime it allows Heatran to run Toxic, the second alternative change he suggested is Scarf trick Latios over Latias, which means you can free up the Taunt slot on Heatran keeping Swords dance or Substitute on Landorus, this also means you will lose the healing wish support that Latias give.

Gross Sweep did an amazing rate as well, he started mentioning the lacks of a solid steel type to cover opposing Tapu Lele in the meantime he said that stall builds are not that easier to worn down. he started to improve the team suggesting magma trapper Heatran over CB Tyranitar pointing out that heatran will be really helpful to break celesteela cores for the main core (mega Alakazam+ Tapu lele). Afterwards he started suggesting some minor changes, Payapa toxapex allows Toxapex to take better Z-psychic Volcarona having a chance to Haze, after that he suggested to change the mega alakazam set to Psyschock | dazzling gleam | Calm Mind | Focus blast / Hp Fire. this set is really helpful versus stall teams (especially with Hidden power fire), Focus blast is a nice option as well to get rid of Tyranitar and steel types the likes of Heatran and Ferrothorn. finally he suggested Yache berry on Landorus therian which improves a bit the Tapu Koko match up.

Thanks to their rates Snowy and Gross Sweep have earned themselves a spot in the Hall of Fame, congrats! :toast:
