Semi-Official Other Metagames Analyses

parts of the OP stolen from scpinion

This is a megathread for analyses for other metagames not already in official C&C, be it because they're not close enough to standard metagames, not popular enough, or anything else. Please make sure to read this entire post before contributing. While contributing is for anybody, I recommend only contributing for metagames you're well-educated in.

In the future, there is a chance we will add analyses for current/past OMotMs.

Quality Control
Quality Control checks, or QC checks, are required to help analyses be informally correct as possible. All analyses are going to start of with two required QC checks. Even if you're not on the QC team, if you feel like you can contribute useful information to analyses that are missing, feel free to speak up. If the QC team notices that your work is good and consistent, there's a good chance you'll be added to the QC team of that respective metagame.

Reserving Pokemon
When reserving a Pokemon, make sure you're clear about what Pokemon you're reserving, and for what metagame. A good example would be reserving something with "[STABmons] Snorlax". You may only reserve 1 analysis at a time.

Working on the Analyses
  • Immediately after you reserve your analysis, it'd be great do edit that same post with a "WIP" (Work-in-Progress) at the top.
    • Note to QC members/suggestion-givers: DO NOT give feedback on an analysis until it's officially marked as "Quality Control". Yes, an analysis might look bland while it's in WIP, but there's a reason why it is in WIP still.
    • Note to analysis writers: You have three days to move your analysis out of WIP before it is taken away from you. This shouldn't be a concern, but if this could possibly happen because of some sudden family issue/etc, let me know and I'll make sure it isn't reassigned.
  • Once you feel like your analysis is ready to be checked, edit the "WIP" at the top of your post with "Quality Control". After doing this, re-post in this thread with a link to the post that your analysis is in (with a message saying "ready for QC" or something; same applies below, but relplace "QC" with "GP" or "Grammar") so the QC teams can QC check it. Write your analysis in bullet points, and after you get the first QC check, write it into paragraphs.
  • After you get two QC checks, edit the "Quality Control" at the top of your post with "Grammar Ready" and re-post with a link to the post that has your analysis in it again. This tells the GP team that your post is ready to be edited to have the grammar appropriated.
  • Once the analysis has been looked over by a GP member and you've implemented any changes they've made, change the "Grammar Ready" to "Done" and again, make a new post linking your post. This time, however, tag Rhythms to upload your analysis.

Main Goals
There are two main goals of this project.
  1. Archiving useful analyses for the respective metagames we're writing about.
  2. Raising the popularity and communities of various OMs.
If you have any questions, then ask away. Have fun!

Keep in mind that any exceptional contributors have their analyses count towards getting the Ladybug badge (
) or Contributor (
) badge if said contributors already have a badge.

If you see "filler" in any of the QC team spots, PM me an application! Make sure to clarify what metagame you're applying for and some examples as to why I should choose you!

this is rly neat

questions: where should we post the analyses we write? In this thread, in the relevant metagame threads, in C&C, or elsewhere? If everything is in this thread I worry that things might get cluttered, but if they're in other threads then that could mislead people while they're WIP, etc.

also reserving [Inverse] Porygon2 to get things started

edit:
I've made a PiratePad for Inverse Analyses, if you need help with general sets, want to see which mons are most important to write, etc, go there! The Viability Rankings and my post here should also be of help.
edit2: some fun guy decided to spam that Pad, PM me for the link.

One small yeet for man, one giant yeet for mankind
Reserving baecanion [AAA]

Overview

Volcanion is a powerful attacker that uses its great typing and signature move in Steam Eruption to be a huge threat in AAA. Its high attacking stats and diverse movesets enable it to perform well as a mixed attacker. Additionally, its high natural bulk and unique typing that provides 4x resistances to Fire and Ice allow Volcanion to survive fairly strong hits and even switch into attackers like Entei and Victini. Unfortunately, Volcanion's mediocre Speed, weakness to Stealth Rock, offensive predictability, and lack of recovery mitigate its effectiveness to an extent.

Choice Specs Wallbreaker

Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature / Naive Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Scald
- Will-O-Wisp / Flare Blitz / Sludge Bomb

Set Comments

Moves

As a stronger version of Scald, Steam Eruption is one of the best moves in the game; Volcanion should use this STAB move whenever possible, as its power, accuracy, and burn chance can be devastating for foes, and its only drawback is its low PP. Fire Blast is another powerful STAB option for Volcanion but has the drawbacks of lower accuracy and a lower chance of burning than Steam Eruption does. Scald is a safer but weaker alternative to Steam Eruption, allowing Volcanion to preserve Steam Eruption's PP and ensure a hit. The fourth move is rarely used on a Tinted Lens set, but Will-O-Wisp, Flare Blitz, and Sludge Bomb are all solid options. Will-O-Wisp can burn specially defensive walls, and it cannot burn Volcanion if it hits a Magic Bounce user. Flare Blitz can take down Goodra, which would otherwise check Volcanion. Sludge Bomb is a good way to hit the rare bulky Fairy-types in the tier, such as Sylveon or Azumarill.

Set Details

The Special Attack EVs, Modest nature, and Choice Specs all maximize Volcanion's power, while Tinted Lens allows it to beat many foes that would otherwise check it. The combination of Choice Specs and Tinted Lens is ideal for allowing Volcanion to spam Steam Eruption. A Naive nature should be used if Volcanion is using Flare Blitz.

Usage Tips

Use Steam Eruption whenever Volcanion can, unless the opponent has a Water-immune Pokemon. Using Volcanion to weaken and burn special walls will allow teammates to later break through your opponent's team. Ideally, bring Volcanion into play by using a slow teammate's U-turn or Volt Switch. Volcanion can serve as a risky check to Entei and Victini due to its 4x resistance to Fire; switching into one of their Fire-type moves generally gives Volcanion a free move afterwards.

Team Options

Special attackers with Knock Off, such as Thundurus and Manaphy, are great teammates as they can lure in specially defensive walls such as Chansey and RegenVest users like Meloetta and Goodra to significantly lower their Special Defense. Zapdos provides an immunity to Ground, hazard removal, and a slow Volt Switch or U-turn, all of which Volcanion benefits from. Diancie provides Stealth Rock support and checks Gale Wings users that threaten Volcanion, such as Braviary. Additionally, Diancie appreciates the pressure Volcanion puts on Steel-types. Pursuit users like Tyranitar can trap special walls that check Volcanion, such as Goodra, Meloetta, and Chansey.
Adaptability Mixed Attacker

Volcanion @ Choice Scarf / Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Flare Blitz
- Focus Blast / Earth Power

Set Comments

Moves

Steam Eruption is Volcanion's best move; it provides a strong, accurate STAB with a 30% chance to burn. Fire Blast provides great coverage in tandem with Steam Eruption. Flare Blitz provides a powerful physical STAB option to surprise and defeat many checks designed to take Volcanion's special attacks, such as RegenVest Meloetta and Chansey. Focus Blast provides coverage for foes that are immune to or resist Volcanion's STAB moves, such as Flash Fire Ferrothorn. Earth Power can be used over Focus Blast to more reliably hit Desolate Land Heatran, but forgoing Focus Blast comes at the cost of not being able to easily defeat Ferrothorn. Focus Blast is thus the preferred option unless Volcanion's teammates can easily defeat Ferrothorn.

Set Details

The EVs are set to maximize Volcanion's Special Attack and Speed. With a Choice Scarf, Volcanion outspeeds foes like Raikou, Thundurus, and Choice Scarf Tyranitar and OHKOes them. A Naughty nature gives Volcanion maximum Speed without hindering its Attack or Defense, both of which are important to Volcanion. Adaptability increases the power of Volcanion's STAB moves, making Volcanion extremely powerful. Life Orb is another option to further increase Volcanion's damage output and make it an incredible stallbreaker; however, Volcanion's slow Speed leaves it vulnerable to fast attackers like Thundurus, and the Life Orb set is often outclassed by the Choice Specs Tinted Lens set.

Usage Tips

Volcanion is great at bluffing its item, so do your best to not make it obvious that Volcanion has a Choice Scarf until you have the desired matchup so Volcanion can surprise and OHKO the foe. Use U-turn or Volt Switch to pivot Volcanion freely into play. If you can predict an opponent's specially defensive check switch in and defeat it with Flare Blitz, Choice Scarf Steam Eruption will often plow through the opponent's remaining team later in the match.

Team Options

Special attackers with Knock Off, such as Thundurus and Manaphy, are great teammates, as they can lure in specially defensive walls such as Chansey and RegenVest users like Meloetta and Goodra to significantly lower their Special Defense. Garchomp provides an Electric immunity and a strong offensive partner to defeat defensive teams. It appreciates Volcanion's ability to absorb Will-O-Wisp. Magnet Pull Infernape is able to trap and defeat Steel-type Volcanion checks such as Ferrothorn and Heatran.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

Motor Drive can surprise threats like Thundurus, giving Volcanion a free switch or move, as well as a Speed boost. Swift Swim makes Volcanion a devastating fast attacker on rain teams. Magnet Pull seems appealing at first but is generally outclassed by Heatran and Infernape. It can still be effective with the right matchup. Regenerator can make use of Volcanion's natural bulk and defensive typing to improve its longevity at the cost of power.

Checks and Counters

Special Defensive Walls: Volcanion has a tough time breaking walls like Chansey as well as RegenVest users like Meloetta and Manaphy. These checks can also hinder Volcanion's effectiveness with status, with Knock Off, or by pivoting out.

Bulky Water-types: With a resistance to both of Volcanion's STAB moves, bulky Water-types such as Poison Heal Vaporeon and Manaphy have the stats to even check the Tinted Lens set.

Fast Electric-types: Thundurus and Raikou can outspeed non-Choice Scarf Volcanion and easily OHKO it.

Entry Hazards: Due to Volcanion's Stealth Rock weakness, it can be quickly worn down by entry hazards, mitigating the effectiveness of its bulk.

[GP 2/2]
Overview

Porygon2 is a fantastic defensive Pokemon in the Inverse Battle metagame. Its typing leaves it with just one weakness to Ghost-types, which it threatens with a super effective STAB, and, when combined with its stats and Eviolite, this makes it capable of blanket checking a huge proportion of the metagame. It has three excellent abilities in Trace, Download, and Analytic, which allow it to switch into an even larger range of Pokemon, such as Chansey, or threaten switch-ins more effectively. It is, however, rather susceptible to Knock Off, which greatly reduces its walling prowess, and lacks the passive healing of Leftovers, which makes it more easily worn down by hazards. Despite this, Porygon2 is an incredibly versatile Pokemon that can fit on almost all team styles.

The Duck

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace / Download / Analytic
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Tri Attack
- Psyshock / Foul Play
- Thunder Wave / Toxic

Set Comments

Moves

Recover improves Porygon2's longetivity, which allows it to switch in on threats throughout the match. Tri Attack is a great STAB move with perfect neutral coverage in Inverse Battle, and its 20% chance to inflict status can help turn around games. Psyshock makes this set one of the best Meloetta checks in the metagame, always breaking its Substitutes and stopping it from setting up with Calm Mind. Alternatively, Foul Play can be used to discourage physical attackers from setting up, and notably, it OHKOes Mega Lopunny after Stealth Rock damage. Thunder Wave is useful against more offensive teams, while Toxic allows Porygon2 to wear down defensive switch-ins such as Avalugg and Tangrowth, as well as opposing Porygon2.

Set Details

The EVs along with a Calm nature give Porygon2 excellent mixed bulk, allowing it to avoid the 2HKO from powerful attacks such as Choice Specs Porygon-Z's Tri Attack, Mega Lopunny's Return, and even Gengar's Shadow Ball if it doesn't carry a boosting item. Trace is the preferred ability, allowing Porygon2 to pivot into Chansey without fear of status and having the chance to Trace great abilities such as Intimidate and Sap Sipper from the likes of Staraptor and Gogoat. Both Download and Analytic have their respective niches, however, with Download allowing Porygon2 to 2HKO the more common physically defensive Avalugg if it gets the Special Attack boost and Analytic handling Bold Meloetta far better and dealing more damage in general.
Alternative EV spreads of either 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD with a Bold nature or 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD with a Calm nature can be run to better handle physical or special attackers, respectively.

Usage Tips

Porygon2 should be switched into threats such as Meloetta, Alakazam, and Mega Lopunny and proceed to fire off a status move or Tri Attack. However, it must be careful to avoid Trick from the rare Choice item-using Meloetta and the occasional Toxic from Mega Lopunny, which cripple it greatly. Porygon2 can easily switch into predicted Fighting-type moves and most non-STAB moves, whether physical or special. Do not switch into potential Knock Off users, such as Mamoswine, Landorus, and Mega Beedrill, without first scouting their moveset to ensure safety. Recover should be used liberally, as Porygon2's bulk should not be overestimated; after some prior damage, Mega Lopunny threatens to 2HKO it with Return. Porygon2 can also easily switch into passive Pokemon such as Avalugg and Chansey, though it should watch out for Toxic.

Team Options

Porygon2 doesn't require a great deal of support, as its role is to support its teammates. However, it appreciates being paired with a Poison-type or entry hazard removal, as it is greatly crippled by Toxic Spikes, and even other entry hazards reduce its ability to consistently check threats. Porygon2 also requires a switch-in to Knock Off. Mega Beedrill, Latias, and Mega Latias make great partners in this regard; Mega Beedrill removes Toxic Spikes on switch-in while soft checking Mamoswine and Landorus, while Latias can Defog away entry hazards, completely counters Mamoswine, and also handles Ghost-types fairly well. Substitute + Calm Mind Mega Latias greatly appreciates opposing Pokemon being paralyzed, as do Substitute users in general, as it gives them more chances to set up. On more defensive teams, cleric support from the likes of Chansey is helpful to remove harmful status. Frail Pokemon such as Breloom appreciate Porygon2's ability to switch into Mega Lopunny. Almost every Pokemon in the tier appreciates the support that Porygon2 brings.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

A tank set with a Modest or Quiet nature using Tri Attack, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Recover with Download or Analytic, respectively, can be used, since Porygon has respectable bulk even with just HP investment and a fairly good base 105 Special Attack stat. However, such a set is fairly weak and sacrifices the ability to wall many of the harder hitting Pokemon in the tier, such as Mega Lopunny. Porygon2 also learns Trick Room, but the playstyle is not particularly effective due to the prevalence of slow, bulky Pokemon.

Checks and Counters

Status: Porygon2 can't rid itself of any status condition and is crippled by them, as they prevent it from doing its job of walling.
Chansey: Chansey is barely tickled by Porygon2's attacks; shrugs off status thanks to Natural Cure; and can heal itself, support its team, or use moves such as Toxic, Thunder Wave, and Stealth Rock to threaten Porygon2 and its teammates.
Knock Off and Trick: If it loses its Eviolite, Porygon2 is 2HKOed by the likes of Mega Lopunny, Mega Beedrill, and +1 Meloetta after Stealth Rock damage. Trick prevents it from switching moves, which is awful for a wall, and even with Choice Specs, uninvested Tri Attack is not very powerful.
Bulky Setup Sweepers: If Porygon2 lacks Psyshock, Substitute + Calm Mind Meloetta sets up on it, as after Meloetta gets a boost, Tri Attack fails to break its Substitute. Pokemon such as RestTalk Suicune avoid the 3HKO from Tri Attack and Psyshock and can Rest off any status they suffer.
Taunt: Porygon2 is almost completely shut down by Taunt, as it does not have a strong offensive presence.
Wallbreakers: Porygon2 struggles to take very strong hits from Pokemon such as Choice Band Staraptor and Swords Dance Ursaring.

Averagemons Wooper
Overview

Wooper is one of the metagame's best special walls due to Unaware and an amazing defensive typing with only one weakness to Grass. Its typing also allows it to counter common Pokemon, inculding Primal Groudon, Nidoking, and Nidoqueen. However, its weakness to Grass is crippling. Some of the Pokemon it is supposed to counter can run Hidden Power Grass to beat Wooper. On top of that, Wooper faces a lot of competition on stall teams from other bulky Water-types such as Alomomola and Corsola, as well as from Unaware Clefable. The reason Wooper is used over Quagsire is that Wooper takes much less damage from Grass Knot.

Special Wall

Wooper @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 76 Def / 176 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
- Earth Power
- Recover
- Toxic
- Encore / Scald

Set Comments

Moves

Earth Power allows Wooper to capitalize on its useful ability to counter Pokemon such as Primal Groudon, Nidoking, and Nidoqueen, as well as making Skrelp and Dragalge hesitant to switch in on Wooper. Recover and Toxic are essential for Wooper to be able to stall out opposing Pokemon. In the last slot, Encore can be used as a way to hinder Substitute users such as Swoobat and can help Wooper's team members set up in preparation for a sweep. Scald can be used instead of Encore, letting Wooper more easily deal with physical attackers. Scald also lets Wooper fare much better against Talonflame. However, this makes it setup fodder for almost any Pokemon with Substitute, leaving Scald usually the inferior choice.

Set Details

Unaware is necessary for Wooper to blanket check setup sweepers. The Defense investment allows Wooper to avoid the 2HKO from Adamant Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades after Stealth Rock damage, and the Special Defense investment allows Wooper to avoid the 2HKO from an itemless, neutral-natured Nidoking or Nidoqueen's Hidden Power Grass after Stealth Rock damage. The Speed investment is used for the chance that you can outspeed a threat, which will allow you to more easily wall it.

Usage Tips

Wooper is a fantastic blanket check to setup sweepers and special attackers. However, this means that there will occasionally be multiple Pokemon on the opposing team that are only beaten by Wooper. Because of this, Wooper needs to be kept at full health in most battles. Make sure to avoid status as well, as being badly poisoned can easily prevent Wooper from walling threats. You should never leave Wooper in on any Grass-types due to its 4x weakness to Grass. Scouting sets on Pokemon such as Nidoking and Nidoqueen is vital for walling them, as some Pokemon can run Grass-type coverage to beat Wooper.

Team Options

Pokemon that resist Grass-type attacks such as Skarmory, Ho-Oh, and Foongus pair extremely well with Wooper. Skarmory in particular is a good partner, as it can remove entry hazards from the field. It is vital to have a cleric on the team, as Wooper is extremely hindered by status. A good example of a cleric is Clefable. Not only does it perform its role as a cleric, it also forms a fantastic Unaware core with Wooper. Between Wooper and Clefable, nearly all setup sweepers are easily walled. Another great partner for Wooper is Mega Sableye, as Magic Bounce allows Mega Sableye to switch in on any Pokemon using a status move. It also has Knock Off, which can weaken opposing Pokemon, making them even easier to wall.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

A physically defensive set can be used to easily wall most Swords Dance users; however, Wooper then loses its ability to wall Nidoking, Nidoqueen, and most other special attackers. Haze and Yawn can be used to beat Stored Power users. Haze is more reliable, as it bypasses Substitute and works if the opposing Pokemon is already inflicted with a status condition; however, Yawn can force switches on Pokemon that aren't setup sweepers as well.

Checks and Counters

Grass-type Attacks: With a 4x weakness to Grass, Wooper fails to take any moderately powerful Grass-type attack from a strong offensive Pokemon such as Nidoking or Nidoqueen.

Status Ailments: Status ailments make Wooper much less effective as a wall. Toxic is by far the most threatening status and will force Wooper to switch out; however, even burns or poison can make it impossible for Wooper to counter certain threats.

Stored Power: Pokemon that use Stored Power, such as Swoobat or sometimes even Clefable, can effectively bypass Unaware by boosting the Base Power of the move until the foe can KO Wooper.

Entry Hazards: Hazards, especially Spikes and Toxic Spikes, make it much harder for Wooper to switch in on threats, as Wooper needs to be kept at full health to beat Pokemon such as Primal Groudon.

Reserving 1v1 Mega-Gyarados
[QC 2/2]
[GP 1/1]
[Ready]

Overview
Mega Gyarados is a force to be reckoned with in the 1v1 metagame thanks to its immense power, great physical movepool, two useful abilities, and two useful typings. Most of the time, it will set up Dragon Dance on its first turn, allowing it to OHKO the foe. Intimidate allows Gyarados to weaken an opposing physical attacker, while Mold Breaker allows Mega Gyarados to bypass defensive abilities like Multiscale and Sturdy, which could otherwise prevent a KO. Regular Gyarados can capitalize on its few weaknesses to minimize damage taken before Mega Evolving, while Mega Evolving can provide STAB Crunch to break Psychic-types like Deoxys-D and Mega Slowbro. Unfortunately, Mega Gyarados is held back by its lower Speed tier and requires Dragon Dance to boost it. Burns from Pokemon like Mega Sableye also really affect Mega Gyarados's ability to KO and can be especially problematic. Bulky Pokemon that resist Mega Gyarados's STAB moves like Whimisicott can also be dangerous, as Mega Gyarados has trouble fitting in all of the necessary coverage moves it wants into a set.

Standard set
Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 80 Def / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall / Outrage
- Crunch / Outrage / Taunt
- Earthquake / Taunt / Waterfall

Moves
Dragon Dance is a necessity on any Mega Gyarados set, as it allows it to overcome its poor Speed and boost its Attack stat to insane levels. Waterfall and Crunch are used as primary STAB attacks with useful secondary effects. Waterfall hits Rock-, Ground-, and Fire-type Pokemon such as Crustle, Rhyperior, and Charizard hard. Crunch hits Psychic-type Pokemon such as Deoxys-D. Outrage is a strong attack that has great coverage against Mega Charizard X and Dragonite. Taunt can be used to stop stall Pokemon like Chansey, Mega Sableye, Deoxys-D, and Whimiscott, assuming they don't Taunt Mega Gyarados first. Earthquake can be used as coverage against Mega Mawile.

Set Details
Mega Gyarados utilizes an Adamant nature and 252 Attack EVs to maximize its damage output. 88 Speed EVs with a neutral nature ensure that after one Dragon Dance, Mega Gyarados outspeeds all fully invested, positive-natured, and unboosted base 100 Speed Pokemon. Mega Gyarados also invests in HP and Defense to allow it to almost always avoid a 2HKO from a Naive Choice Scarf Kyurem-B's Fusion Bolt and a Jolly Mega Charizard X's Outrage. It will also avoid an OHKO from a Mega Charizard Y's Solar Beam.

Usage Tips
Almost always, Mega Gyarados will use Dragon Dance and then attack. A non-boosted attack from Mega Gyarados usually does a decent amount of damage, but Mega Gyarados moves last most of the time and risks being 2HKOed by faster foes. Occasionally, Mega Gyarados wants to hold off Mega Evolving to avoid super effective Fighting- and Fairy-type moves. Sometimes, it will also jump straight into attacking rather than boosting, especially to defeat strong but slow foes like Mega Mawile. Outrage should be picked if Mega Gyarados needs to hit Dragon-types like Mega Charizard X. Taunt should be used when facing stall Pokemon like Deoxys-D and Chansey. Earthquake should be chosen to check Mega Mawile.

Team Options

Mega Mawile is a great teammate that can break through Mega Sableye and Fairy-Type Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir, which can threaten Mega Gyarados. Mega Mawile also appreciates Mega Gyarados's ability to check both Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. Weakness Policy Aegislash is a great teammate that is able to stop Pokemon like Choice Band Kyurem-B and Choice Specs Porygon-Z. Mega Charizard X is also a good partner, as it is able to avoid Will-O-Wisp, which threatens Mega Gyarados. Mega Charizard Y works as well to threaten bulky Grass-types like Mega Venusaur. Furthermore, they appreciate Mega Gyarados's type advantage over Rock-type Pokemon. Choice Scarf Genesect is a great teammate that can outspeed fast foes, as well as hit Fairy- and Grass-type Pokemon. Genesect also appreciates Mega Gyarados's ability to threaten Fire-type Pokemon like Charizard.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

Substitute is an option to beat slow Pokemon that utilize status and stall Pokemon like Porygon2 and Chansey. Stone Edge can be used to more reliably check Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y.

Checks and Counters

Attack-lowering Moves and Burns: Moves that lower Mega Gyarados's Attack, such as Charm, as well as burns can really pose a problem, as they can hamper Mega Gyarados ability to set up while the foe and burns whittle down its health.

Stall Pokemon: Stall Pokemon such as Whimsicott and Mega Sableye can be really problematic for Mega Gyarados, as it can't outright OHKO them and relies on Taunt to stop them.

Fairy-type Pokemon: Fairy-type Pokemon such as Mega Mawile and Mega Gardevoir are usually very strong and have a high chance to beat Gyarados due to their ability to OHKO it after it Mega Evolves.

Hyper Offensive Choice Pokemon: Pokemon like Kyurem-B and Porygon-Z can take advantage of Choice Band and Choice Specs, respectively, to deal insane amounts of damage to Mega Gyarados.

Reserving Pory-z 1v1

[1v1] Porygon-Z

[QC]

Overview
Porygon-Z is an incredibly strong pokemon in 1v1, and for good reason. It's combination of high special attack and adaptibility, as well as good movepool including a lot of coverage moves and trick for stallbreaking, lend Porygon-Z the perfect traits of a choice item holder. However Porygon-Z lends itself to holding a choice scarf as even though specs makes it special attack reach astronomical levels, it still ohkoes many of the most common mons in 1v1 with a scarf, and it appreciates the extra speed to OUTSPEED pokemon such as charizard x and y, Kyurem black, greninja, gengar, all of which it still ohkoes with a modest nature and a choice scarf in hand. It's strongest move hyper beam allows it to muscle through many of the bulkiest pokemon in the 1v1 metagame even with just a choice scarf. Conversion can be useful with shadow ball in the first slot as conversion changes your mon's type to the same as your first slot's type, allowing you to beat meloetta and other choiced users likely to use normal moves.
You can alternately go for coverage with thunderbolt and ice beam to beat different threats more easily, such as Garchomp, as well as flying mons which may resist hyper beam, as usually you can blast everything with just hyper beam. Trick is something I would say is as mandatory as hyper beam as it allows Porygon-Z to beat sturdy endeavor pokemon and stallier pokemon which don't rely on one or two shotting you. Porygon-Z struggles to beat Mawile and faster scarf mons as it is frail and lacks very good coverage apart from blasting resist mons with hyper beam, however when it doesn't get the ohko you are highly likely to lose the match because of its frailty and overall low defenses.

Set Comments
I would usually always reccomend modest scarf (definitely always keep the EVs the same) however if you don't have an answer to mega alakazam switching to timid to outspeed it is a good option.

Moves

I Would say the best set for Porygon-Z is, firstly, shadow ball in the first slot (this is important) as it allows Porygon-Z to beat meloetta and other normal move using choice mons, then conversion to take advantage of this and allow Porygon-Z to abuse the type changing effects. Shadow ball on its own allows Porygon-Z to beat ghost mons which are immune to hyper beam. Then the main move of the set hyper beam which allows Porygon-Z to blast most of the meta with ohkoes and allow Porygon-Z to become the top tier threat it has become. Trick is also a very good move as it allows Porygon-Z to completely shut down stall poke on which an live a hyper beam and allow I to beat them easily. Alternatively you can run thunderbolt and ice beam for different coverage options.

Set Details

Max special attack and speed, should always stay like that, modest for a bit of extra power to plow through walls as Porygon-Z already breaks 400 speed with a choice scarf.

Usage Tips
The move that you should pick in the main set depends on what is your team weak to since all of these moves perfectly work on Porygon-Z with no drawback. The only time you should be afraid of sending out Porygon-Z is against Sturdy users and Mega Mawile though you should be wary of Possible faster choice scarf users. Do not use Hyper Beam if you are not sure if it's going to OHKO the foe since you will be wasting an extra turn giving the opponent the upper hand.

Team Options
Good teammates include defensive counter charizard X to plow through steels as well as beat scarf kyub which outspeeds and ohkoes Porygon-Z. It also beats mega alakzam. Mawile is a good team-mate as well to always beat kyub and beat gyarados which beats Porygon-Z as well. Apart from this Porygon-Z functions really well withhout much support.

Strategy Comments
CliCk hyper beam every time unless it is resisted or immune-d. Otherwise use shadowball/trick/conversion according to the situation, EG, conversion v melo.
Other Options
You can also run Custap berry with Max special attack Max Hp, running nasty plot for stallbreaking and endure with hyper beam and a filler move, this allows you to beat things which would outspeed scarf Porygon-Z such as scarf KYUB. You can also run specs download to beat things such as Metagross with the download boost with shadow ball/dark pulse. You could also run specs adaptability to Ohko Mawile even through resist.

Checks and Counters

mega mawile- can bulk any attack and OHKO back.

Whimsicott- can scout moves with protect and sub or leech seed accordingly for an easy win.

Scarf kyurem-black - outspeeds and ohkoes with a scarf

Gyarados mega-can bulk any attack with Max hp and 2hko back and is only 2 shotted by hyper beam which forces Porygon-Z to recharge and lose anyway.

And that's porygon-Z in 1v1

Tagging Rhythms i don't have time for a few weeks to finish the whole Porygon-Z analysis so it would be best if you could give it someone else

[1v1] Meloetta

Also how does usage tips work for 1v1? Everything I'd say would be so obvious.

Overview

Meloetta is a reckoning force in 1v1 thanks to a mix of handful factors. Its Normal / Psychic typing gives it only two weaknesses, which is very useful in the metagame. Alongside its typing, Meloetta is gifted with great bulk, allowing it to sponge hits from common attackers such as Kyurem-B, Mega Charizard X, and Garchomp. Its true power doesn't lie only in its defensive capabilities, though, but rather in its offensive traits. Meloetta has great Special Attack, which, with the help of Choice Specs, allows it to OHKO a number of threats in the metagame with Hyper Beam. Combined with great coverage moves, Meloetta is an amazing specially offensive Pokemon. However, Meloetta's strongest attacking move, Hyper Beam, is a rechargeable move, meaning if it misses the OHKO, there's a very high chance you're going to lose the battle, since there will be an extra turn wasted. Even though it has the bulk, Meloetta still loses to most hyper offensive Pokemon such as Choice Band Garchomp, Choice Specs Porygon-Z, and Mega Mawile, which are able to outspeed or tank Meloetta's moves and OHKO it. As a specially offensive Pokemon, it also has trouble getting past specially defensive Pokemon.

Moves

Hyper Beam is easily the best STAB move for Meloetta, with 150 Base Power allowing it to nail the OHKO on most Pokemon that don't resist it or aren't specially defensive such as Kyurem-B, both Mega Charizard X and Y, and Mega Slowbro. Shadow Ball allows Meloetta to notably hit Ghost-types that are immune to Hyper Beam, more importantly Aegislash. Energy Ball is another coverage move, allowing Meloetta to hit Rock-, Water-, and Ground-types super effectively, notably Mega Slowbro and Rhyperior. If you need a way to hit specially defensive Pokemon, especially Chansey, Psychic can be used as another STAB move due to Serene Grace and its better Base Power, additionally the drop chance gives Meloetta the possibility of doing more damage the second turn. Psyshock is another option over Psychic, allowing Meloetta to hit Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Chansey. Trick stops defensive Pokemon and level 1 foes from defeating Meloetta, especially Chansey, Aron, and non speed invested Deoxys-D, though, it needs both Trick and Psyshock to defeat Chansey.

Set Details

Maximum Special Attack and a Modest nature maximize Meloetta's offensive capabilities, allowing it to nail the OHKO on various threats, while 248 HP EVs give it enough bulk to endure an Outrage from both Kyurem-B and Mega Charizard X, as well as a Hyper Beam from Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. 24 Special Defense EVs allow Meloetta to live a Timid Mega Charizard Y Blast Burn and OHKO it back with Hyper Beam.

Usage Tips

The move that you should pick depends on what your team is weak to, since all of these moves perfectly work on Meloetta with no drawback. The only time you should be afraid of sending out Meloetta is against Sturdy users and Mega Mawile, though you should also be wary of Choice Band users. Do not use Hyper Beam if you are not sure if it's going to OHKO the foe, since you will be wasting an extra turn, giving the opponent the upper hand.

Team Options

Mega Charizard X pairs well with Meloetta, as it can take on opposing Steel-types and specially defensive Pokemon thanks to its ability in Tough Claws and typing in Fire / Dragon. Mega Mawile is also a good teammate to Meloetta despite not being able to destroy Steel-type Pokemon, though it can survive most Choice Band attackers, notably Kyurem-B, and Choice Specs users such as Meloetta. Mega Gyarados works fine with Meloetta thanks to its bulky offensive nature and ability in Mold Breaker, allowing it to defeat Sturdy users, Ghost-types, and specially defensive Pokemon. Greninja works well alongside Meloetta thanks to its relative high Speed and offensive stats, allowing it to nail the OHKO on Dragonite, Choice Band Garchomp, Mega Mawile, and Mega Gyarados with Choice Specs.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

Focus Blast can be used on Meloetta to hit Steel- and Rock-type Pokemon super effectively, though it isn't very reliable and using other coverage moves are more worth it. However, it has its perks in being able to hit Heatran and Tyranitar. Uproar is also another choice but not that great, as its only purpose is to allow Meloetta to hit behind the foe's Substitute to and prevent being put to sleep by moves such as Mega Venusaur's Sleep Powder. Psychic can be used instead of Psyshock if you want another strong special STAB move and if you already have your ways of dealing with specially defensive Pokemon.

Checks and Counters

**Mega Mawile**: Mega Mawile is backed up with an amazing typing in Steel / Fairy, allowing it to survive Meloetta's strongest move, Hyper Beam, as well as its other coverage moves. Furthermore, Sucker Punch has a high chance of OHKOing Meloetta.

**Substitute**: Substitute, commonly used by Whimsicott, allows the foe to block Meloetta's Hyper Beam. Other Pokemon, such as Mega Charizard X, might surprisingly carry Substitute just to avoid being hit by rechargeable moves and force Meloetta to recharge.

**Dragonite**: Protected by Multiscale, Dragonite is able to sponge any attack from Meloetta directed toward it and KO back.

**Mega Gyarados**: Mega Gyarados is able to sponge any hit from Meloetta, even Hyper Beam and Energy Ball, and OHKO back with Crunch.

**Mega Sableye**: Mega Sableye has the best typing to check Meloetta, as it is immune to both of its main STAB moves, Hyper Beam and Psychic. It isn't greatly harmed by other moves and can either set up with Calm Mind or defeat Meloetta with Foul Play or Metal Burst.

**Chansey**: Chansey can tank any move that Meloetta uses and defeats it easily if it doesn't carry both Trick and Psyshock.

**Faster Choice Band and Choice Specs users**: Even though Meloetta has great bulk, it still falls prey to hyper offensive Pokemon, especially the ones that run Choice Band and Choice Specs such as Choice Band Garchomp and Choice Specs Porygon-Z.

**Dragonite**: Protected by Multiscale Dragonite is able to sponge any attack from Meloetta directed toward it and retaliate back fainting Meloetta.

Reserving Whimsicott [1v1]
[Quality Control: 1/2]

Overview

+ Bulky enough to sponge most hits because of its natural bulk.
+ Able to even survive super effective hits if you choose to opt some resistance berries such as Babiri Berry, Occa Berry, and Yache Berry.
+ Wins against most Pokemon that do less than 90% damage on the first hit.
+ Has fairly good filler moves like Grass Whistle, Taunt and Cotton Guard which helps it against different threats.
+ Has thee ability Prankster which gives Whimsicott a good chance of moving before the opponent when it uses a status move.
+ Can easily defeat Pokemon that try to stall around in the metagame.
- Has to rely on the 90% accuracy move Leech Seed.
- With every berry a Whimsicott holds, you'll have to know that Whimsicott is still weak to a certain part of the metagame depending on what berry it holds.
- Hates sound moves.
- The only move it has that makes opponents fall asleep is Grass Whistle, which has 55% accuracy.
- Lacks good recovery outside Leech Seed.

- Protect
- Encore/Cotton Guard/Taunt

Moves

This Whimsy Vamprire has several options for viable moves that it can use it 1v1. It has moves like Leech Seed to steal some health from the opponents, Protect to shield itself from any attack and status move attempts that come by, Substitute to stall its way to victory due to Leech Seed while both of the moves are supported by the ability Prankster, and Encore is a filler move that is able to make Pokemon that use stall to use the same move over and over again so that you can just mess around with them until you win. Cotton Guard is a good alternative from Encore since it lets Whimsicott tank in more of the physical moves that may seem to threaten Whimsicott. This move helps it defeat. Taunt is another alternative but it's kinda like Encore except it sends the opponent a message saying to only use attacking moves. This brings Whimsicott to the best of its advantage against stall due to it preventing opponents from healing, taunting, and setting up.
Each of the 3 filler moves do great in competitive play. While Encore is able to beat Mega Slowbro, Mega Gyarados, and Defense Deoxys, Cotton Guard is able to beat Mega Metagross, Mega Mawile, and Mega Aggron even without the Babiri Berry, and Taunt to beat Meta Banette, other Whimsicott, and even Jumpluff.

Set Details
Whimsicott's EVs are usually just the typical standard EVs depending on what berry you use. Whimsicott uses 248 EVs on every Leech Seed set just for it to be able to do its best since it gains a large amount of HP. This amount is safer than 252 EVs because 248 EVs allows Whimsicott to use Substitute one extra time if it really needs it. If you hold a Babiri Berry or an Occa Berry, It is recommended that you also run 252 Defense EVs and 4 Special Defense EVs. The Babiri Berry is used specifically to go against Steel-type Pokemon like Mega Mawile and Mega Aggron. For Mega Mawile, you would need a significant amount of EVs in order to tank it well. Special Defense EVs may sound necessary for this set but regardless of how much EVs you manage to give it, Ice Beam from Pokemon like Black Kyurem and Genesect would still do so much to it. If you want to max Special Defense for this set and give 4 Defense EVs, I suggest using the Yache Berry instead of the Babiri Berry so that you can take Ice Beam hits well. If you use the Occa Berry, the EVs could be any one of the two other spreads said depending on if you're trying to beat Mega Charizard-X or Mega Chariard-Y

Usage Tips

When using Whimsicott, try using Leech Seed before any other move, unless you think that your opponent won't attack on the first turn. If you think or you're sure that your opponent won't use an attack move on the first turn, use Substitute instead. After you're done using Leech Seed, keep using Protect and Substitute until your opponent's HP drops down to 0, then you win. If anything is stopping you from doing your main role, you can use one of the filler moves on the 4th slot, depending on who you're up against.

Team Options

Whimsicott well suits with Black Kyurem as it can take down the majority of the Pokemon that Whimsicott can't thanks to Black Kyurem's coverage and STAB moves like Iron Head and Outrage to take down threats like Mega Gardevoir and Mega Charizard-X. Other good option for a Pokemon to team with Whimsicott is Mega Sableye. Sableye is pretty much Whimsicott's shadow as regular Sableye and Whimsicott both have Prankster, but Mega Sableye has Magic Bounce. Magic Bounce is an ability that bounces all status moves away. Anyone who sees a Whimsicott and Sableye in the same team would have a hard time thinking of who to choose because of their typing, abilities, and defense. Mega Sableye has the defense to easily block attacks from Whimsicott's threats including Mega Charizard-X, Mega Charizard-Y, Mega Banette, and Meloetta. When Mega Sableye gets hit, it won't hesitate to retaliate back with Metal Burst. Magic Bounce is able to make moves like Toxic fly back to Pokemon that may unexpectedly have it just to deal with Whimsicott.
Mega Charizard-X is another Pokemon that suits well being Whimsicott's teammate because like Black Kyurem, Mega Charizard-X has coverage and STAB moves too. The biggest differences are the typing that they have and while Black Kyurem has more strength, Mega Charizard-X is more versatile. Mega Charizard-X has access to moves like Dragon Dance in order to increase its attack and STAB Outrage to take care of other Charizards and even Black Kyurem if its invested in bulk. Mega Gyarados is the 4th option for a teammate. Like Mega Charizard-X and Black Kyurem, Mega Gyarados has fantastic coverage and STAB moves, also having access to Dragon Dance. It uses moves like Waterfall and Outrage to tear down just as many Pokemon as Mega Charizard-X and Black Kyurem. Mega Gyarados is kinda in the middle. It's less powerful yet more versatile than Black Kyurem. Mega Gyarados helps defeat Whimsicott's biggest threats like Mega Sableye and Mega Banette. It also has the unique ability Mold Breaker which it could take advantage of by cutting through the opponent's Magic Bounce using Taunt.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

Grass Whistle is a possible filler move in this Whimsicott set. You can use it to make opponents fall asleep so that you can succeed easier in your plans by using Leech Seed or Substitute. The only things you need to be cautious about when you use this move is that it has a low 55% accuracy which would make it miss often and if it does hit, you're going to have to rely on your opponents to start waking up pretty late rather than as early as possible. 55% accuracy isn't healthy to rely on. Toxic is another option you can use, but Toxic takes away 1 turn of Whimsicott's ideal strategy and that 1 turn can be very risky to waste. Offense moves like Moonblast and Giga Drain look good on paper but not the best in 1v1, because even though those moves can defeat Dark and Water types easier, Whimsicott's Special Attack just isn't enough for the metagame unless it's against Mega Diancie.

Checks and Counters

**Steel-type, Fire-type, and/or Ice-type moves**: Whimsicott is weak to all three of these types. These types of moves are some of the most common out there so the best option is to make yourself take less damage from one of these types using a Babiri Berry, an Occa Berry, or a Yache Berry. Even though this is an option, you will still be weak to two of the three types of moves on this list. The most common Pokemon in this list of weaknesses are Mega Mawile for Steel, Mega Charizard-X and Mega Charizard-Y for Fire, and Black Kyurem for Ice.

**Poison-type moves**: Whimsicott is times four weak to Poison and really doesn't have anything to stop it from getting OHKOed by most Poison moves. Kebia Berry is an option but it usually isn't enough to stop Whimsicott from fainting in this case. The time you should worry the most about getting hit by a Poison-type move is when you are facing a Garchomp because they commonly carry Poison Jab.

**Moves that go through Substitute**: Any move that goes through Substitute is a huge threat to Whimsicott and Whimsicott flat out loses when it faces a Pokemon with one of these moves. Some examples of moves that go through Substitute are Hyper Voice, Uproar, Bug Buzz, and Heat Wave. Meloetta would use Hyper Voice sometimes, Porygon-Z would use Uproar, Genesect would use Bug Buzz, and any Zapdos out there will use Heat Wave.

**Magic Bouncers**: This ability scares Whimsicott more than it scares any other Pokemon because with this ability, Whimsicott cannot use any status moves on the Magic Bouncers as they would just fly back to it. Whimsicott's entire strategy is just using status moves so in this case, Whimsicott loses. The biggest Magic Bounce user in the metagame is Mega Sableye so keep an eye out for Sableye when you see it. Mega Diancie is also a good Magic Bounce user but not as common as Mega Sableye.

**Mega Banette**: Mega Banette plays with Whimsicott like some kind of rag doll. With Prankster Taunt and Torment, Whimsicott wouldn't be able to do much other than making its 1st move.

[1v1] Charizard (both formes)
WIP
Sorry, was kinda busy the last couple days, the next time I edit, I'll be done with it.
Overview
Being the only pokemon in the tier that has two forms, Charizard makes predicting which pokemon to throw out much harder than normal. Charizard X is one of the strongest physically offensive mons in the tier with it's powerful 120BP stab moves Flare Blitz and Outrage, which then are boosted again by it's ability Tough Claws for another x1.3 power, all backed up by it's amazing 130 base attack stat. Not only is it offensively gifted, but it has great bulk as well allowing it to set up Dragon Dances to boost it's attack even further. It can run other coverage moves such as Earthquake to hit what Flare Blitz and Outrage doesn't, or it can run a Substitute to shut down stall mons. It's other form, Charizard Y, is the complete opposite offensively wise, boasting an impressive 159 Base special attack. Combine that with it's ability Drought which powers up it's most powerful fire type move Blast Burn by 1.5x, leaving it at a unbelivable base 225 not including STAB. It also has great coverage such as Solar Beam which hits what Blast Burn doesn't OHKO, and Air Slash for more STAB/coverage moves. Both Charizards are both amazing pokemon in the tier because of their unpredictability, great power backed up by great coverage. It's no surprise that they have the most usage out of any pokemon in the tier lying at #1 and #2.

Set Comments
Maximum Attack investment allows Charizard X to hit as hard as possible, while the Jolly option can be used to outspeed other Charizards and a large portion of the meta at a +1. The Jolly option lets it outspeed other Charizards that don't run Jolly and other select mons that aren't scarf such as Specs Porygon and Banded Kyurem.

Moves
Charizard X's moveset makes sure that it hits everything in the game with no resists, and hits exactly half of the types super-effectively. Dragon Dance is used to powerup your moves when you are sure that you can bulk whatever move is thrown at you. Sometimes if you know what move the opponent is going to use, and it will OHKO Charizard while Mega, you can simply Dragon Dance non-mega so it doesn't OHKO, and then next turn mega and OHKO the majority of the meta w/ the Tough Claws boost and a +1 in attack.
Charizard Y's moveset allows it to hit over half of the types in the game supereffectively, while the rest of the types are hit neutrally.

Running Counter in combination w/ 252 HP and 252 Def with an Impish nature can be used to OHKO back (when not Mega) scarfed Dragons that use Outrage such as Garchomp and Kyurem, Fake Out + High Jump Kick Mega Lopunny, other Charizards that Mega and Outrage, and any other neutrally physical moves in the meta. Though this can take opponents off guard, it normally loses it's effectiveness after one match with the opponent as they then can use special mons or less damaging moves so that Counter doesn't OHKO, then use a SE move to finish off the job.
Charizard Y can run Flamethrower instead of Blast Burn to insure there are no misses, as well as there is no recharge turn, but Blast Burn just has such brute force that it normally OHKO's anything resisted (and sometimes resisted if the foe doesn't have great Special Defense). It may also run Will-O wisp to criple anything that has a lot of attack to prevent it from OHKO'ing. Running 252 in HP, although lowers it's speed/special attack, allowing it to potentially tank a Porygon Hyper Beam.

Checks and Counters:
Scarf Porygon-Z
Scarf Kyurem Black
Scarf/Banded Garchomp
Heatran
Aggron (mindgames)
Scarf/Specs Latios
Gyarados

[1v1] Meloetta

Also how does usage tips work for 1v1? Everything I'd say would be so obvious.

Overview

+Great typing giving it only 2 weaknesses
+Great bulk allowing it to sponge hits from common attackers such as Kyub, Zard X, Garchomp.
+Good Special Attack
+Coverage moves to compliment STAB Hyper Beam
-Its strongest attack Hyper Beam is a rechargeable move means if you miss the KO, Meloetta has a high chance of faintin
-Loses to most hyper offensive Pokemon such as Banded Garchomp, Specs Porygon-Z, Mega Mawile
-Has a hard time going through specially offensive Pokemon

[Choice Specs]
Meloetta @ Choice Specs
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 236 SpA / 24 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Beam
- Shadow Ball / Energy Ball / Psyshock
- Psyshock / Shadow Ball / Energy Ball
- Trick

Set Comments

Moves

  • Hyper Beam is easily the best STAB move for Meloetta with 150 base power allowing to nail the KO on most Pokemon that doesn't resist it or aren't specially defensive such as Kyurem-B, Zard X, Zard Y, Mega Slowbro.
  • Shadow Ball allows Meloetta to notably hit Ghost-types that are immune to Hyper Beam more importantly Aegislash
  • Energy Ball is used as another coverage move because it can hit Rock-, Water- and Ground-types Pokemon super effectively such as Swampert, Mega Slowbro, Rhyperior.
  • Psyshock is used as a secondary STAB move allowing Meloetta to bypass specially defensive Pokemon especially Chansey
  • Trick stops defensive Pokemon and Lvl 1 foes from defeating Pokemon especially Chansey, Aron, Mew, Deoxys-D.
Set Details

  • Max Spa and Modest maximize Meloetta offensive capabilities allowing it to nail the OHKO on various threats.
  • 248 HP gives Meloetta enough bulk to endure an Outarge from both Kyurem-B and Mega Charizad X, and a Choice Scarf Hyper Beam from Porygon-Z
  • 24 Spdf allows Meloetta to always live a Timid Mega Charizard Y Blast Burn and OHKO back with Hyper Beam

Usage Tips
  • The move that you should pick in the main set depends on what is your team weak to
  • The only time you should be afraid of sending out Meloetta is against Sturdy Users and Mega Mawile though you should be wary of Choice Band users.
  • Do not use Hyper Beam if you are not sure if it's going to OHKO the foe since you will be wasting an extra turn giving the opponent the upper hand

Team Options

  • Mega Charizard X pairs well with Meloetta as it can take on opposing Steel-type or specially defensive Pokemon.
  • Mega Mawile is also a good team mate to Meloetta despite not being able to destroy Steel-type Pokemon though it can survive most Choice Banded attackers notably Kyurem-B, and Choice Specs users such as Meloetta.
  • Mega Gyarados works fine with Meloetta thanks to its bulky offensive nature and ability in Mold Breaker allowing it to defeat Sturdy users, Ghost-types, and Specially Defensive Pokemon.
  • Greninja works fine alongside Meloetta thanks to its relative high speed and offensive stats allowing it to nail the OHKO to Dragonite, Choice Band Garchomp, Mega Mawile, and Mega Gyarados with Choice Specs.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

  • Focus Blast can be used on Meloetta as another choice alongside the coverage moves as it can hit effectively Steel- and Rock-type Pokemon though isn't very reliable and using other coverage moves are more worthy but it has its perks in being able to beat Heatran and Tyranitar.
  • Hyper Voice is also another choice but not that great as its only purpose is to allow Meloetta hit behind the foe's Substitute.
  • Psychic can be used instead of Psyshock if you want another strong special STAB move and have your ways dealing with specially defensive Pokemon.

Checks and Counters

**Mega Mawile**: Mega Mawile is backed up with an amazing tying in Steel/Fairy allowing it to survive Meloetta strongest move Hyper Beam and its other coverage moves, furthermore Sucker Punch has a high chance of OHKOing Meloetta.

**Whimsicott**: Thanks to Substitute Whimsicott is able to protect itself from Hyper Beam and stalling Meloetta out, plus it's not OHKOed by other coverage moves so it can Leech Seed freely if Meloetta chooses to use another move but it has to be wary of the rare Hyper Voice.

**Dragonite**: Protected by Multiscale Dragonite is able to sponge any attack from Meloetta directed toward it and retaliate back fainting Meloetta.

**Mega Gyarados**: Mega Gyarados is able to sponge any hit from Meloetta, even Hyper Beam and Energy Ball, and OHKO back with Crunch.

**Faster Choice Banded and Specs users**: Even though Meloetta has great bulk it stills falls prey to hyper offensive Pokemon especially the ones that runs Choice Band and Specs such as Choice Banded Garchomp and Choice Specs Porygon-Z.
[QC 1/2]

I don't see anything wrong with this analysis. Everything seems legit. Best set, good explanation of weaknesses and strengths, pretty much got it all down.

[1v1] Meloetta

Overview

Meloetta is a reckoning force in 1v1 thanks to a mix of handful factors. Its typing in Normal/Psychic gives it only 2 weaknesses which is neat in the metagame. Alongside its typing Meloetta is gifted with great bulk allowing it to sponge hits from common attackers such as Kyurem-B, Mega Charizard X, and Garchomp. But its true power doesn't lay only in its defensive capabilities but in its offensive traits also, Meloetta also has great Special Attack which with the help of Choice Specs is able to OHKO a number of threats in the metagame with Hyper Beam. Combine that with great coverage moves and you have an amazing specially offensive Pokemon. But that power doesn't come at the cost of nothing, Meloetta's strongest attacking move Hyper Beam is a rechargeable move meaning you if you miss the OHKO there's a very high chance you're losing the battle since there will be an extra turn wasted. Even though it has the bulk, Meloetta still loses to most hyper offensive Pokemon such as Choice Banded Garchomp, Choice Specs Porygon-Z, and Mega Mawile which are able to outseed or tank Meloetta's moves and OHKO. As a specially offensive Pokemon it also has trouble getting past specially defensive Pokemon.

Hyper Beam is easily the best STAB move for Meloetta with 150 base power allowing it to nail the OHKO on most Pokemon that doesn't resist it or aren't specially defensive such as Kyurem-B, both Mega Charizard X and Y, and Mega Sowbro. Shadow Balls allowed Meloetta to notably hit Ghost-types that are immune to Hyper Beam more importantly Aegislash. Energy Ball is another coverage move allowing Meloetta to hit Rock-, Water-, and Ground-types Pokemon super effectively notably Mega Swampert, Mega Slowbro, Rhyperior. If needing a way to get through specially defensive Pokemon Psyshock can be used as a secondary STAB move allowing Meloetta to bypass them especially Chansey. Trick stops defensive Pokemon and Lvl 1 foes from defeating Meloetta especially Chansey, Aron, Mew, and Deoxys-D.

Set Details

Max Special Attack and Modest nature maximize Meloetta offensive capabilities allowing it to nail the OHKO on various threats while 248 HP gives it enough bulk to endure an Outrage from Both Kyurem-B and Mega Charizard X, and Choice Scarf Hyper Beam from Porygon-Z. 24 Special Defense allows Meloetta to live a Timid Mega Charizard Y Blast Burn and OHKOing it back with Hyper Beam.

Usage Tips

The move that you should pick in the main set depends on what is your team weak to since all of these moves perfectly work on Meloetta with no drawback. The only time you should be afraid of sending out Meloetta is against Sturdy users and Mega Mawile though you should be wary of Choice Band users. Do not use Hyper Beam if you are not sure if it's going to OHKO the foe since you will be wasting an extra turn giving the opponent the upper hand.

[Quality Control]
Overview

Porygon2 is a fantastic defensive Pokemon in the Inverse metagame. Its typing leaves it with just one weakness to Ghost-types (which it threatens with a super-effective STAB), and combined with its stats and Eviolite, this make it capable of blanket checking a huge proportion of the metagame. It has three excellent abilities in Trace, Download and Analytic, which allow it to switch into an even larger range of Pokemon (such as Natural Cure Chansey) or threaten switchins more effectively. It is, however, rather susceptible to Knock Off, which greatly reduces its walling prowess, and lacks the passive healing of Leftovers which makes it more easily worn down by hazards. Despite this, Porygon2 is an incredibly versatile Pokemon which can fit on almost all team styles.

The Duck

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace / Download / Analytic
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Tri Attack
- Psyshock / Foul Play
- Thunder Wave / Toxic

Set Comments

Moves

Recover allows Porygon2 to switch in on threats throughout the match. Tri Attack is a great STAB move with perfect neutral coverage in Inverse, and its 20% chance to inflict status can help turn around games. Psyshock makes this set one of the best Meloetta checks in the metagame, always breaking its Substitutes (even if it has maximum defensive investment) and stopping it from setting up Calm Minds. Alternatively, Foul Play can be used to discourage physical attackers from setting up: notably, it OHKOs Mega Lopunny after Stealth Rock damage. Thunder Wave is useful against more offensive teams, while Toxic allows it to wear down defensive switchins such as Avalugg and Tangrowth, as well as opposing Porygon2.

Set Details

The EVs along with a Calm nature give Porygon2 excellent mixed bulk, allowing it to avoid the 2HKO from powerful attacks such as Choice Specs Porygon-Z's Tri Attack, Mega Lopunny's Return and even Focus Sash Gengar's Shadow Ball. Trace is the preferred nature, allowing Porygon2 to pivot into Chansey without fear of status and having the chance to trace great abilities such as Intimidate and Sap Sipper from the likes of Staraptor and Gogoat. Both Download and Analytic have their respective niches, however, with Download allowing Porygon2 to 2HKO the more common physically defensive Avalugg if it gets the relevant boost, and Analytic handling Bold Meloetta far better and dealing more damage in general. However, Trace is generally the most effective.
Alternative EV spreads of either 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpD with a Bold nature, or 252 HP/4 Def/252 SpD with a Calm nature, can be run to better handle physical or special attackers, respectively.

Usage Tips

Porygon2 should be switched into threats such as Meloetta, Alakazam and Mega Lopunny and proceed to fire off a status move or Tri Attack. However, it must be careful to avoid Trick from the rare Choice Meloetta, and the occasional Toxic from Mega Lopunny, which cripple it greatly. It can easily switch into any predicted fighting-type moves and most non-STAB moves, whether physical or special. Do not switch into potential Knock Off users, such as Mamoswine, Landorus or Mega Beedrill, without first scouting their moveset to ensure safety. Recover should be used liberally, as Porygon's bulk should not be overestimated - after some residual damage, Mega Lopunny threatens a 2HKO with Return. Porygon2 can also switch easily into passive Pokemon such as Avalugg and Chansey, though it should watch out for Toxic from Avalugg (and from Chansey if it doesn't have Trace).

Team Options

Porygon2 doesn't require a great deal of support, as its role is to support its teammates. However it appreciates being paired with a Poison-type and/or hazard removal, as it is greatly crippled by Toxic Spikes and even other hazards reduce its ability to consistently check threats. It also requires a switchin to Knock Off. Mega Beedrill and both Mega and non-Mega Latias make great partners in this regard - Beedrill removes Toxic Spikes while soft checking Mamoswine and Landorus, while Latias can Defog away hazards and competely counters Mamoswine. Latias also handles Ghost-types fairly well. SubCM [GP - can I write this?] Mega Latias greatly appreciates opposing Pokemon being paralysed, as do Substitute users in general, as it gives them more chances to set up. On more defensive teams, cleric support from the likes of Chansey is helpful to harmful status. Frail Pokemon such as Breloom appreciate Porygon2's ability to switch into Lopunny. Almost every other Pokemon in the tier appreciates the support that Porygon2 brings.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

A tank set with a Modest/Quiet nature and Tri Attack, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam and Recover with Download or Analytic, respectively can be used, since Porygon has respectable bulk even with just HP investment and a fairly good base 105 Special Attack. However such a set is fairly weak and sacrifices the ability to wall many of the harder hitting Pokemon in the tier, such as Mega Lopunny. Porygon2 also learns Trick Room, but the playstyle is not particularly effective in the tier due to the prevalence of slow, bulky Pokemon.

Checks and Counters

Status: Porygon2 can't rid itself of any form of status and is crippled by them, as they all prevent it from doing its job of walling.
Chansey: Chansey is barely tickled by Porygon2's attacks, shrugs off status thanks to Natural Cure, and can heal itself, support its team or use moves such as Toxic, Thunder Wave and Stealth Rock to threaten Porygon2 and its teammates. However, it is very passive, and it is easy to take advantage of this.
Knock Off and Trick: If it loses its Eviolite, it is 2HKO'd by the likes of Mega Lopunny, Mega Beedrill, and +1 Meloetta after Stealth Rock. Trick prevents it from switching moves which is awful for a wall, and even with Choice Specs, uninvested Tri Attack is not a powerful attack.
Bulky Setup Sweepers: If Porygon2 lacks Psyshock, SubCM Meloetta sets up on it, as after Meloetta gets a boost, Tri Attack fails to break its Substitute. Pokemon such as Resttalk Suicune avoid the 3HKO from Tri Attack or Psyshock and can Rest off any status they suffer.
Taunt: Porygon2 is almost completely shut down by Taunt, as it does not have a strong offensive presence.
Very strong attacks: Porygon2 struggles to take very strong hits from Pokemon such as Choice Band Staraptor or Swords Dance Ursaring.
already wrote this into paras because I'm eager and didn't read the OP properly. Ready for QC tho

Reserving 1v1 Mega-Gyarados [Quality Control, 0/2]
Overview
Mega Gyarados is a force to be reckoned with in he 1v1 meta. It has two useful abilities, two useful typings, a good moveset, and a very high attack stat. Unfortunately it is held back by its lower speed tier and requires Dragon Dance to boost it.

Standard set
Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 80 Def / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch/Outrage/Taunt
- Earthquake/Taunt/Outrage

Moves
Dragon Dance is a necessity on any Mega Gyarados set as it allows it to overcome its poor speed as well as boosting its attack stat to insane levels. Waterfall and Crunch are used as primary STAB attacks with rare but useful secondary effects. Outrage is a strong attack that has great coverage against Mega Charizard X and Dragonite. Taunt can be used to stop stall Pokemon like Chansey, Mega Sableye, Deoxys-D, and Whimiscott, assuming they don't Taunt you first. Earthquake can be used as coverage against Mega Mawile.
Set Details
Most Gyarados-Mega utilize an Adamant nature and 252 attack to maximize its damage output. A speed benchmark of 88 from neutral nature is also popular as a way to ensure that after one dragon dance Mega Gyarados outspeeds all fully invested, beneficial nature, non-boosted, base 100 Pokemon. Most Mega Gyarados also invest in HP and Defense in an attempt to boost its mediocre Defense and HP stat.

Usage Tips
Mega Gyarados usage is pretty simple. Dragon Dance and then attack, almost always. This is because a non-boosted attack from Mega Gyarados usually does at least 67%, but Mega Gyarados moves second most of the time and risks being 2OHKO'd by faster opponents. Occasionally, Mega Gyarados wants to hold off mega-evolving to avoid super effective fighting or fairy moves. Occasionally it will also jump straight into attacking rather than boosting especially to defeat strong but slow opponents like Mega Mawile.

Team Options

Without proper coverage for Mega Mawile, Mega Sableye, and other defensive pokemon, a Mega Mawile will provide great support to Mega Gyarados.
Weakness Policy Aegislash is a great teammate that is able to really counter Mega Gyarados's own counters and stand up to other pokemon.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

Substitute is an option to beat slow status abusers and stall pokemon. Ice fang can be used against pokemon like Dragonite. Stone Edge can be used to more reliably check the Mega Charizard forms

Checks and Counters

Attack lowering moves and burns: Moves that lower the Gyarados-mega’s attack like Charm and the burn status condition can really pose a problem as it can really hamper Mega Gyarados ability to set up, while the opponent whittles down its health.

Fairy type pokemon: Fairy type pokemon like Mega Mawile and Mega Gardevoir are usually very strong and have high win rates against Gyarados-mega due to their ability to OHKO Gyarados-Mega when it mega evolves.

Hyper offensive choice pokemon: Pokemon like Kyurem-B and Porygon-Z can capitalize on Choice Band and Choice Specs to deal insane amounts of damage to Mega Gyarados.

In general this analysis lack substances our objective is to reach to newer people so you have to give as much as information as possible.

Overview
Why is it a force in the meta? What does it exactly beat and how? Is it because of its bulky offensive nature, offensive, unpredictability?
Is that it? Mention how both Intimidate and Mold Breaker helps Gyarados, Intimidate helps it to set up on stuff and Mold Breaker breaks Multiscale+Sturdy.
Why are both of its typing useful, what does it do and resist? I'd mention how it helps beating key pokemon offensive and defensive Pokemon in the metagame such as Zard and Mega Slowbro
Is that only its weakness? Mention hows its affected by Will-o-Wisp and can be beat by bulky offensive threats that aren't weak to both its attacks such as Whimsicott, it also suffers from picking the coverage move needed.

Moves
I'd say Outrage is the most important move alongside Crunch/Waterfall, Waterfall can be slashed with EQ and Taunt.
What does both Crunch and Waterfall hit on the set information, that other moves don't. Name examples.

Set Details
Can you name a few relevant Pokemon it outspeed with such Speed EVs after a DD? As a native 1v1 player I know them but as a beginner it wouldn't be that obvious.
What does investing 88 in Hp and 80 in Def achieve? Does it avoid the 2OHKO from Bolt Strike Kyurem-B or Solar Beam from Zard Y?

Usage Tips
Idk looks fine, just mention when to pick taunt over waterfall and others(the slashes).

Team Options
I don't understand what you mean here, can you reformulate? Do you mean "If Mega Gyarados doesn't have coverage for both Mega Sableye and Mega Mawile, X is needed to combat both?"
Can you name what does Aegislash beat?
Can you provide at least 5-6 teammates?

Other Options
Slow status abusers and stall Pokemon such as?
Outrage already OHKOs Dragonite though, so I don't see whats the use of Ice Fang.

Checks and Counters
Don't forget to mention stall Pokemon such as Whimsicott and Mega Sableye but they have to be wary of Taunt, looks fine otherwise

Do all of these and you get the approval of DEG and Rem

[Choice Scarf]
Porygon-Z @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball /Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Conversion
- Trick
- Conversion/Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam
- Hyper Beam

Ready for QC

Edit: Rhythms i probably won't be able to finish give this to someone else
