Project Ultra SM Break This Team - WK 48 SKEs tail glow manaphy Rain (Voting)

MegaStarUniverse

Banned deucer.
im gonna have to go with core 1 and core 6. M-Pinsir is the biggest problem for this team hands down. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7ou-293949 as you can see the team has no clear way to handle M-Pinsir

Keldeo? dies to +2 Quick Attack. Latios? Dies to +2 Quick Attack after prior damage. Magnezone? Dies to +2 Close Combat. Tangrowth? Tangrowth just dies. Lando-T? the Lando-T is offensive so it can't even take +1 return

+1 252 Atk Aerilate Pinsir-Mega Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Landorus-Therian: 370-436 (115.9 - 136.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

My point is M-Pinsir has a lot of opportunities to set up. And the person you're facing has to fear set up at all times so you can take advantage and play smart by for example staying in on a draco from Latios and predict a switch out because you're opponent always has to fear M-Pinsir because it can always get some free kills if it wanted. You can even kill certain members of your choice if you wanted... such as Latios because -2 Draco is not killing and you kill it back with return

-2 252 SpA Choice Specs Latios Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Pinsir-Mega: 172-204 (63.4 - 75.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Weavile and Magearna tie in my opinion for the second biggest threat

I'll count the votes later. Thanks for the activity. This week, we're breaking an Ash-Greninja Rain team

Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 32 Def / 228 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 30 Spe
- Hurricane
- U-turn

- Roost

Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
EVs: 252 Atk / 12 Def / 244 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Stealth Rock

Greninja-Ash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- Spikes

Ferrothorn @ Chople Berry
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Protect

Zapdos @ Electrium Z
Ability: Static
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Agility
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunder

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 24 SpD / 24 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock (Double Rocks bc pert should only ever be clicking rocks vs stall)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying] / Toxic / Sludge Wave
- U-turn

This team focuses on the ability of Mega Swampert and Greninja-Ash's ability to sweep unprepared team in the Rain with boosted Water STABs. Pelipper is obviously the setter, followed by Swampert who gives Rain an Electric immunity and a Rocker that can set up Rocks against Mega Sableye. Landorus-T is your primary Rocks user. It and Ferrothorn forms a common defensive core for Rain teams. Ash-Greninja is a fantastic late-game cleaner and enjoys Swampert weakening the Water resists for it. Zapdos is an alternative win condition as it can abuse Thunder while also being difficult to switch into with Electric / Ice / Fire coverage.

Reserving Mega-Venusaur and Freeze-Dry Mamoswine

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 236 HP / 92 SpA / 76 SpD / 104 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Synthesis

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 240 Atk / 16 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Freeze-Dry
- Earthquake

Mamoswine has a ~70% of OHKO-ing Pelipper

16 SpA Life Orb Mamoswine Freeze-Dry vs. 248 HP / 228 SpD Pelipper: 302-364 (93.4 - 112.6%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

Freeze-Dry + Ice Shard is very hard to switch into, barring Ferrothorn, which fears Earthquake, which can 2HKO if you can predict correctly.

240 Atk Life Orb Mamoswine Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 48 Def Ferrothorn: 161-191 (45.7 - 54.2%) -- 5.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Mega-Venusaur is to sit back and wall Ash-Gren, Ferrothorn, Zapdos, Swampert, and basically force the opponent into a position where they need to bring in Landorus or Pelipper, which then allows you to bring back Mamoswine the hammer.

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Roost
- Defog
- Toxic

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power Ice
- Earthquake

It's a rain team, so naturally Mantine is gonna cause issues. Here, it walls a majority of the team, and can comfortably Defog away hazards on them. The team is forced to pull doubles/click U-Turn out to Zapdos to avoid Mantine switching in, eating a hit, and clicking Scald and Toxic free of charge.

252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 240 Def Mantine: 100-118 (26.7 - 31.5%) -- 24.5% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Pelipper Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 16+ SpD Mantine: 76-91 (20.3 - 24.3%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 16+ SpD Mantine: 112-133 (29.9 - 35.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Ferrothorn Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 240 Def Mantine: 123-145 (32.8 - 38.7%) -- 7.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery (More if Mantine roosts, but Ferro
0- SpA Landorus-Therian Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 16+ SpD Mantine: 44-52 (11.7 - 13.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

That said, Lando-T (if it runs Toxic) and Ferrothorn are certainly capable of getting chip damage off on Mantine, and Zapdos can just outright KO it. So as something to block these, we have classic AV Tang. Tangrowth's inability to do much damage to Ferrothorn is irrelevant because Ferrothorn has no hazards to set up on it and cannot Leech Seed it (and slightly underdamages it), Lando-T's special move does nothing, and Zapdos does not nab the 2HKO. Tangrowth is also a backup check to Greninja and Mega Swampert, being able to tank a hit from both and retaliate with Giga Drain to mitigate the damage.

252+ SpA Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 160-190 (39.6 - 47%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Tangrowth Hidden Power Ice vs. 64 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 102-122 (30.2 - 36.2%) -- 44.6% chance to 3HKO

0 Atk Ferrothorn Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tangrowth: 51-60 (12.6 - 14.8%) -- possible 7HKO
0- SpA Landorus-Therian Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 92-110 (22.7 - 27.2%) -- 50% chance to 4HKO

Obviously, Tangrowth is not a perfect answer to Zapdos (namely, it deals less with HP Ice than Zap does with Heat Wave), but keep in mind that this only holds if rain isn't up (won't be true if Zapdos came in on Pelipper's U-Turn), and it can't come comfortably come in on Scald, Toxic, or HP Ice, else it might lose to Tangrowth Lando-T's Toxic also annoys both partners, but both have ways of recouping lost HP.

Aragorn the King

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aurora Veil
- Freeze-Dry
- Hidden Power Fire
- Hypnosis / Encore

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Alolan Ninetales itself is superb at annoying standard rain mons, thanks to its Snow Warning ability and access to Freeze Dry. Snow Warning strips Mega Swampert (and potential Kingdra/Kabutops/Omastar, but not on this team) of its Swift Swim speed boost, which then allows Ninetales to KO it with Freeze Dry 100% of the time (after SR and Hail). Freeze Dry also is able to OHKO Pelipper and Landorus-T as well as 2HKO Ash-Gren and Zapdos (if it comes to it), while Hidden Power Fire can 2HKO Ferrothorn assuming SR and Hail damage. Snow Warning is also integral for Ninetales as it allows it to set Aurora Veil, which halves the power of opposing Pokemon's moves. This is important because makes it a lot harder for Ash-Gren to transition, and thus makes it harder for Ash-Gren's Water Shuriken to pick off sweepers that should be paired with this core.

Mega Charizard Y disrupts rain teams in a similar way to Alolan Ninetales, in that it changes the weather and so cuts Mega Swampert's speed in half. Additionally, Charizard's Drought cuts the power of the water moves on the team in half, which, similar to Aurora Veil, makes it a lot harder for Ash-Gren to transition. Mega Charizard Y also deals with Ferrothorn more easily than Ninetales, easily KOing it with a STAB fire move. Charizard's Drought also ensures that Ninetales will always be able to set Aurora Veil, as if it's currently on the last turn of hail as Ninetales switches in, it won't have any hail to set up Aurora Veil with. This isn't as big a deal vs. this team as there will usually be some weather, but it can still come in clutch.

Cryogonal @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Freeze-Dry
- Rapid Spin
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
This thing outspeeds adamant mega swamp and lives anything kingdra throws at it. Crygonal has a base 105 speed tier, which also helps v non rain teams such as scarfchomp. Rapid spin allows it to get rid of rocks swamp or ferro may have set and freeze dry ohkos swampert, kingdra, and pelipper after rocks.it does struggle a bit v kingdra as hydro pump can OHKO it.
Calcs:
252 SpA Cryogonal Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Swampert-Mega: 340-408 (99.7 - 119.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

252 SpA Cryogonal Freeze-Dry vs. 248 HP / 64 SpD Pelipper: 456-540 (141.1 - 167.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Cryogonal Freeze-Dry vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kingdra: 388-460 (132.8 - 157.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kingdra Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Cryogonal in Rain: 274-324 (91 - 107.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

Gastrodon + Mega Venusaur.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Def
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Recover

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power Fire
- Sleep Powder / Leech Seed / Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis

I like big bulk and I cannot lie. Gastrodon is to rain what Serperior is to Sticky Web, and with Venu by his side to absorb Ferrothorn's Grass moves and Swampert's physical blows, this team can only hope for hax as they're otherwise stalled out one by one.

252 Atk Swampert-Mega Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 244+ Def Venusaur-Mega: 114-135 (31.4 - 37.1%) -- 79.9% chance to 3HKO
0 SpA Venusaur-Mega Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Swampert-Mega: 352-420 (103.2 - 123.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Gastrodon: 181-214 (42.5 - 50.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Gastrodon: 136-162 (32 - 38.1%) -- 0.8% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Gastrodon Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Greninja-Ash: 118-141 (41.4 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Time for Submissions are now Over and we must vote on the winner. You can vote for 2 cores that you think will do well against this team.

Cores
Core 1 Mamoswine + Venusuar
Core 2 Mantine + Tangrowth
Core 3 Alola Nintetales + Zard Y
Core 4 Gastrodon + Mega Venusuar

legend slayer my apoligizes but Crygonal as funny as it would be to troll a rain team with will not be accepted as its not on the viability rankings nor are there any replays which demonstrate it can be effective not just against rain but the general meta

Goodluck with voting everyone

I vote core 3 as i have heavily tested it and it seems to be a both useful and fun core and it rips rain to shreds.it is also good v all kinds of team builds, not just rain.

Explanation:
A bit of a bulky offence team that functions more like Hyper offence. It is built around Lele and Mantine's ability to mitigate priority and hazards respectfully so that Either Serperior or Mawile can Sweep or lele herself can clean. Mawile is Bulky adamant 4 attacks, Take a hit then dish an OHKO back or take advantage of a switch. Mantine is the standard spread to absorb as many different hits as possible, Spread Status and defog While Heatran is Sub/Toxic to take advantage of forced switch's. Choice Scarf lele is the teams revenge killer using triple stabs and Hidden power fire to do its Job while shutting off priority. Flyinium/Gravity Landorous helps with the stall and bulky offence match ups luring in skarmory, Tangrowth and Amonguss respectfully while Serp rounds out the team being sweeper/Cleaner in one slot. It also has sub seed for troll-like shenanigans.

Replay: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7ou-295096 that does a better job explaining the team

Credits to ABR for helping me out this week with the team. Its appreciated.

Thats the team and goodluck.

PS: Hall of fame and archive will be assembled soon. Every winner and team goes into the archive. While to make the hall of Fame you need to win 3 times, at which point you get to nominate a team for the thread.

Tapu Koko + Celesteela.

Tapu Koko @ Life Orb
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Atk
Naive Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- U-Turn
- Taunt

Celesteela @ Rockium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Autotomize

Not much to say here - just a simple offensive core with nice defensive synergy, with Koko running Taunt to shut down the Sub users and Celesteela surprising the opponent with her physical set to lure in and take out Heatran (and any Mantines that think they can avoid Koko's wrath).

252 SpA Life Orb Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. 248 HP / 28 SpD Landorus-Therian: 322-380 (84.5 - 99.7%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 192 HP / 4 SpD Mawile-Mega in Electric Terrain: 242-286 (83.7 - 98.9%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
4 Atk Life Orb Tapu Koko U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Serperior: 156-185 (53.6 - 63.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Life Orb Tapu Koko Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Serperior: 146-172 (50.1 - 59.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Celesteela Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 458-542 (162.9 - 192.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe/ 4 Atk
Rash Nature
-Fusion Bolt
-Ice Beam
-Earth Power
-Roost

Magearna @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Soul Heart
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe/ 4 HP
Timid Nature
-Shift Gear
-Focus Blast
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt

Kyurem-B is a big threat to this team, outspeeding and OHKOing everything except for Serperior and Tapu-Lele. Shift Gear Magearna can easily steamroll the entire team if it finds an opportunity to set up (on Tapu-Lele that has just revenged Kyu-B, or Mantine for instance) because nothing on the team can reliably stop it. Unboosted Z-Focus Blast does 74.3%-87.8% to Mega-Mawile so a little bit of prior damage is all that is needed.
