Level: 5
EVs: 196 Atk / 76 Def / 236 SpD
Adamant Nature
IVs: 1 HP
- Aqua Jet
- Crabhammer
- Superpower
- Knock Off

This is a nice balanced team right here. Corphish can break a lot of things so that staryu can clean at the end. Surf > scald or hydro on staryu for accuracy and power, that little extra bit helps, and I don't really need burns since its a late-game cleaner. Foongus can spore any big threat to one of the water types, foo and vull are good slow pivots that can bring in Corp or Staryu for free since they are both a bit frail. The team is a bit abra weak if they predict a vull switchin and gleam it, but fake out mienfoo + ajet corp can take it down if the situation gets dire.

Houndour @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
Level: 5
EVs: 36 Def / 196 SpA / 36 SpD / 236 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 9 HP
- Flamethrower
- Dark Pulse
- Sucker Punch
- Roar

Here's a fun little team I built when Torchic was really popular for a while at the end of SM. Roar Houndour just switches into it and spams roar so that whatever tries to come in with a speed boost is forced out. A lot of times Houndour can pick off whatever comes in with Flamethrower or Dark Pulse if it's faster, and Sucker if its slower. Tirt is a pretty powerful sweeper, albeit a slower one. Vull pivots around knocking off eviolite for tirt and also is a secondary way to deal with pesky ferrothorns. Scarf shellder surprises things like abra and wingull if you want to take them out early, or force a switch and get a free icicle spear/rock blast. No one really wants to switch out against a possible shell smash though. Mudbray is mainly there to weaken bulkier physical attackers like Timburr and Mienfoo. Snivy is a late-game cleaner if I decide to wallbreak with tirt early game.

The name of the team says it all. Set up webs and just try and just merk with these mons. It works 50% of the time 100% of the time. Basically, even if you play badly these mons are so ridiculously hard hitting you still have a chance. Hopped on the ladder and made a couple replays real quick that explain the power of this team better than I can. I played bad but I haven't really played in a while so its all good.

I'll add some of my favourite SM LC teams

Adamant Nature

This was my number 1 team, which won me battles against good opponents when I played well. Surskit sets the webs, physical eviolite ponyta counters snivy (especially non-glare), timburr counters pawniard and can also switch into scalds, pumpkaboo is a bulky spinblock, and kabuto can set rocks/spin/check birds; abra is the wincon. Essentially it has counters for the things that threaten webs and an abra to clean. Also shoutout to Fille who told me what things to put in the team and for passing the kabuto set.

This team is possibly my laziest but most effective build. I liked the look of the abra-gastly offensive core, where one of them dies to wear down their checks, and the other cleans after. The abra set is sash rather than life orb to deal with alolan grimer (assuming its not fire blast). Gastly is scarf rather than life orb for speed control, and it runs psychic instead of dazzling gleam so that it can switch in on croagunk, and ko scarf mienfoo The ferroseed-spritzee core is probably the best defensive core in the game, so i just stuck it in. Ferro is maximum bulk and eviolite so that it can tank hits and receives wishes from spritzee, spritzee has covet as a fun surprise for people who knock off its eviolite. That's the main part of the team done; mienfoo and staryu were fillers. Mienfoo is max bulk so that it can switch in on things (like pawniard) and then u-turn out into something else and fake out is for priority. Staryu is there to spin, with ice beam as the fourth move to hit the increasingly common (at the time) pumpkaboo.

This team was essentially built around timburr, hence the name. This team doesn't work well against webs as it has no hazard removal, so i wont go into too much detail, but just showing different building styles i've used

This is a team I built around meowth, because I liked the fake out plus feint combo. This team was built so that meowth could get as many fake outs as possible and then pivot or hard-switch out to something else to keep the pressure on (which I later found to be a style I don't work well with). Physical ponyta was there to spread burns to things that weren't timburr. Staryu could remove hazards (though ideally the hazards wouldn't be set in the first place due to pressure). Vullaby was there to soak up attacks then pivot out with u-turn; I do have a team variant with weak armor nasty plot vullaby but I think this variant fared better. Snubbull was a good switch-in because intimidate. Abra is abra.

These are the best teams I've made for each playstyle, I have some other playstyles like Veil offense but they weren't good enough so I left them out.

Gonna post here a team that was very successful for me in late SM. Went 1600andsomething, then got bored.

Grimorio (Grimer-Alola) @ Eviolite

The idea was to build around Z Wring Out-hp Fire-Snivy as I thought: "damn, this guy just takes down almost all its counters, sucks that it only reaches 16 speed". From this came the idea to add webs. Onix if for birds, Grimer is for Gastly and Snivy, Gastly abuses webs and spinblocks. Went with Gastly instead of Pumpy or Frilly as I didn't want to add another bird/Snivy weakness nor to give Foongus a chance to safe enter. If Staryu kills Gastly on the switch instead of spinning I just go in with Snivy. Foo is for Pawniard, it can go in on lot of stuff to remove items (juice from Onix in primis) and abuse webs himself.
Something important to make the team work is to set the field and enter with Snivy BEFORE its checks to go +2spa.
Surskit set: went with scarf so that I can suicide lead safely on Onix. Gave it 12 def to enter more safely on stuff like Foo and Timb if I don't lead with it. This left it with only 12 spa but I don't care. I miss a KO on Doduo but it's the bird that Onix checks better. I was terribly weak to Wingull so I gave it HP ELECTRIC. Most people lead with Gull so I just smack it down turn 1. This and the Snivy set are bo1 gimmicks, I know that, but were very successful on ladder and fun to use. However I feel like Snivy getting defog instantly turned this team into outdated.
