Sylveon Preview ( Doubles )

Not open for further replies.
  • Aside from being adorable, the intertwining Pokemon has a powerful trick up its sleeve: Pixilate Hyper Voice.
  • Powerful, accurate, and doesn't hit Sylveon's ally as a bonus.
  • Sylveon also boasts very strong Special Defense and HP, allowing it to take attacks like Tapu Koko's Thunderbolt and Tapu Lele's Psychic with ease.
  • However, Sylveon has poor Defense and Speed, leaving it vulnerable to powerful physical attackers like Landorus-T and Salamence.
  • Its shallow movepool leaves it walled by common threats like Heatran and Amoonguss.
  • The Pixilate nerf doesn't do it any favors. Additionally, Sylveon faces competition from opposing fairy-types such as Tapu Lele, Tapu Koko, and Mega Gardevoir as they offer more power and versatility.
[SET]
name: Choice Specs
move 1:Hyper Voice
move 2:Shadow Ball
move 3:Psyshock
move 4:Hidden Power Fire/Ground
item: Choice Specs
ability: Pixilate
nature: Modest/Quiet
evs: EVs: 108 HP / 212 Def / 188 SpA

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Choice Specs magnifies Sylveon's damage output, being able to 2hko most foes that don't resist Fairy.
  • Hyper Voice is the move to spam, and its the one you should be spamming since Sylveon's coverage options aren't great to begin with.
  • Sylveon can be used early game thanks to high power STAB Attacks, while also functioning as a late game cleaner.
  • Sylveon has issues with most Pokemon that resist Fairy, even with its coverage moves. Ground-types such as Landorus-T and Garchomp can check the types Sylveon's has issues with.
  • The EV Spread allows Sylveon to survive max attack Salamence and Kangaskhan Double Edge.
  • It may be strange not to invest much more SpA, but Sylveon its very hard even with minimal investment thanks to Pixilate and Choice Specs.
  • Sylveon's EV spread is adjustable for different teams. 12 Spd evs will allow Sylveon to outpace Adamant Bisharp after an Icy Wind, while 116 Spd evs will allow it to outpace Mega Salamence during Tailwind. If running Hidden Power Ground consider more investment in SpA due to the IV in 30. For TR, use a Spd IV of 0 to maximize its potential.

[SET COMMENTS][OVERVIEW]

  • Life Orb gives Sylveon a solid boost to its Special Attacks without the cost of being locked to a move.
  • Hyper Voice is the move to spam.
  • Shadow Ball has near perfect coverage with Hyper Voice, allowing Sylveon to pose a threats such as Metagross, Gengar, and Aegislash who can just wall Sylveon otherwise.
  • Psyshock threatens Amoonguss and Venusaur, who'd otherwise wall Sylveon flat.
  • HP Ground prevents Sylveon from being walled by Heatran, while Fire threatens Scizor and Ferrothorn.
  • Sylveon has issues with most Pokemon that resist Fairy, even with its coverage moves. Ground-types such as Landorus-T and Garchomp can check the types Sylveon's has issues with.

I will, but I'm on vacation now, and we're just about to leave the hotel, so the changes aren't going happen instant.
