Malamar @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 HP / 244 SpD / 12 Spe
Careful Nature
- Superpower
- Knock Off
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Malamar can comfortably switch in on Sliggoo through the match, taking less than half from Draco while also being able to heal itself with Rest. You can also just set up on Sliggoo with Superpower, or cripple it with Knock Off.

252+ SpA Sliggoo Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Malamar: 150-177 (39.8 - 47%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Malamar Superpower vs. 92 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Sliggoo: 90-106 (30 - 35.3%) -- 21% chance to 3HKO

reserving skuntank

Skuntank @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA
- Defog
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Not only does Skuntank resist Garbodor's STAB but it can also Defog away its Hazards. While Rocky Helmet wears down Garbodor much easier as the only move that isn't resisted is a contact move.
Calcs
248+ SpA Skuntank Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Garbodor: 114-135 (37.8 - 44.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 Atk Garbodor Drain Punch vs. 8 HP / 0 Def Skuntank: 92-109 (26.3 - 31.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Musharna @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonlight
- Psychic
- Heal Bell

Standard CM Musharna as Counter.

The "Drowsing Pokémon" can comfortably switch in on anything Garbodor's attack (btw Drain Punch and Seed Bomb damages are really insignificant) while Psyshock effectively works very well. Moonlight and bosting Calm Mind are even not necessary.
252+ Atk Garbodor Gunk Shot vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 139-165 (32.1 - 38.1%) -- 0.5% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Garbodor Drain Punch vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 29-34 (6.6 - 7.8%) -- (aargh)
252+ Atk Garbodor Seed Bomb vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 62-74 (14.3 - 17%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Musharna Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Garbodor: 218-258 (72.4 - 85.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 Spe
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sludge Bomb
- Taunt
- Toxic Spikes

garbodor doesnt hurt weez at all while weezing can burn it or taunt it to avoid being a set up fodder for garbs spikes.

Banned deucer.

Steelix @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Flash Cannon
- Earth Power
- Dark Pulse

-Steelix is a Counter to non focus blast garbodor, and even if it had FB, it does like 30 to defensive steelix. Im posting the offensive set because its a cool lure and bodies its standard checks, while garb still cant do anything vs it.

Mesprit @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Signal Beam
- Healing Wish/U- Turn

SpecsSprit is one of the most fun things to run in NU, because of its power and natural bulk, and ability to make your opponent have a hard time guessing what moveset it has. This variant is a great offensive check to garbodor, OHKOing it with psychic.

Mesprit
252 SpA Choice Specs Mesprit Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Garbodor: 446-528 (148.1 - 175.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Garbodor
252 Atk Garbodor Gunk Shot vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mesprit: 153-180 (50.8 - 59.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 156 HP / 100 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Pychic
- Gunk Shot
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes

This mon has lots of sets. This one can block totally other types of Garbodor. You can also set some hazards knowing that the other Garbodor can't make you a great damage, as it would have some recoil damage if it does Drain Punch cause of the Rocky Helmet.

0 SpA Garbodor Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Garbodor: 102-120 (33.8 - 39.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Garbodor Gunk Shot vs. 156 HP / 252+ Def Garbodor: 64-76 (18.8 - 22.3%) -- possible 5HKO
252 Atk Garbodor Drain Punch vs. 156 HP / 252+ Def Garbodor: 27-32 (7.9 - 9.4%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252 Atk Garbodor Seed Bomb vs. 156 HP / 252+ Def Garbodor: 29-34 (8.5 - 10%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Audino @ Audinite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 SpA
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Dazzling Gleam
- Wish
- Protect

Audino-Mega doesn't get 2HKOd by any of Golurk's move, even after SR damage, and can PP stall it thanks to WishTect or set-up on it.

252+ Atk Choice Band Golurk Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 208+ Def Mega Audino: 165-195 (40.2 - 47.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Golurk Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 208+ Def Mega Audino: 165-195 (40.2 - 47.5%) -- 50.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Tangela @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power Fire
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed

Tangela easily chews any hit from Golurk, and avoids the 2HKO from Ice Punch so you can pivot out with regen into an ice resist. You also threaten it with either sleep powder or Giga Drain.

252+ Atk Choice Band Iron Fist Golurk Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Tangela: 136-162 (40.7 - 48.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Pelipper @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Defog
- Roost
- U-turn

Golurk is very hard to wall completely, but Pelipper can take any of its coverage moves and Roost up or hit back hard with Scald. Earthquake immunity is also nice for obvious reasons. Stealth Rock can make switching in somewhat difficult, but Golurk's coverage moves are generally quite easy to exploit. Rocky Helmet can also penalise all of Golurk's coverage moves, and Leftovers isn't needed to avoid any 2HKOs.

252+ Atk Choice Band Iron Fist Golurk Shadow Punch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Pelipper: 135-160 (41.7 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Iron Fist Golurk Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Pelipper: 113-133 (34.9 - 41.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

reserving shiftry

Shiftry @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Leaf Storm
- Defog

Shiftry Ohko's with all three of its moves. While it can switch-in on both of glories STABs with SR up it is ill-advised to do so as it dies after LO damage if it gets hit by EQ, this also protects you if the opposing player predicted your Shifty switch-in and went for Ice Punch which Ohko's. If you choose to use Jolly over Lonely it anyway Ohko's with Knock and Sucker.

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 Spe
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sludge Bomb
- Taunt
- Pain Split / Toxic Spikes

Weezing avoids the 2HKO from any of Golurk's moves and can retaliate by crippling it with WOW. The one exception to the 2HKO that it avoids is Zen Headbutt, but most of the time Golurk will go for one of its STAB moves instead. As a result, Weezing is a hard check; Golurk is very hard to counter.

252+ Atk Choice Band Iron Fist Golurk Shadow Punch vs. 252 HP / 148+ Def Weezing: 129-153 (38.6 - 45.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Ludicolo as a hard offensive check
Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Giga Drain
- Rain Dance
Ludicolo pretty much OHKOs Golurk with all of its moves.
252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Golurk: 265-312 (82.8 - 97.5%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
And since people are probably going to switch out due to both STABs being super effective against Golurk, you can take advantage of that with Rain Dance and proceed to punch holes in your opponent's team. Also, Ludi doesn't switch into any of Golurk's moves well (shadow punch can OHKO under rocks) even though it resists eq.

Abomasnow @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard

Check

Outspeed a Giga Drains/Blizzard depending on its mood. Can come in on any move once w/o prior damage. Giga Drains a chance with 95 being the lowest

252+ Atk Choice Band Iron Fist Golurk Shadow Punch vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Abomasnow: 264-312 (82.2 - 97.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Liepard @ Choice Band
Ability: Limber / Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Seed Bomb /Copycat
- U-turn

Band liepard is very fun to use, hits hard, and can punish offensive teams.

252 Atk Choice Band Liepard Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Golurk: 440-518 (137.5 - 161.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

btw it's a a good offensive check for golurk, KOing it with knock off.

Hey pancake sorry to say this but weezing isnt really a counter to CB golurk since, as you mentioned, zen headbutt will 2hko and it really cant do much back since weezing is slower then golurk. Its a really great check but I wouldn't say its a hard counter. Btw bring back vpp.

I'd argue that it can burn it and it can switch in on 3/4 of its moves, and I said it was a check, not a counter, but you know a lot more about this than me so I'm probably wrong :( thanks

Week 71:

Hariyama @ Choice Band
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Sorry for the delay on this, btw. We're nearing the end of a chapter in ORAS NU and almost all metagame threats have been done already. If you find anything that hasn't, feel free to include it in your post or PM me on PS about it.

Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Moonlight
- Sludge Bomb
- Filler

Vileplume can tank any of Hariyama's move -- 3HKOs at best --, and hit it back, while having a way to recover itself thanks to Moonlight. It's also able to poison it with Sludge Bomb which can help it wearing down Hariyama easier.

252+ Atk Choice Band Hariyama Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Vileplume: 136-160 (38.4 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Scyther @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Aerial Ace
- Knock Off
- Quick Attack

CB Scyther is an excellent offensive check to Hariyama, KOing it with Aerial Ace. As an added bonus, Scyther can tank Yama's STAB(provided by the right circumstances like no SR present) and immune to EQ.

Scyther

Mesprit @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
- Healing Wish / Ice Beam

Offensive Colbur Mesprit is a pretty good check; it can switch into any move and KO back reliably with Psychic as this Hariyama set doesn't have any defensive investment. Alternatively it can safely revenge kill Hariyama after something else dies, or force it out and set up Rocks or use Healing Wish depending on the rest of the match. Unfortunately using a Timid Nature makes it unlikely you'll get the clean OHKO unless it goes for Close Combat.

252+ Atk Choice Band Hariyama Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mesprit: 146-172 (48.5 - 57.1%)
252+ Atk Choice Band Hariyama Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Colbur Berry Mesprit: 158-186 (52.4 - 61.7%)
252+ Atk Choice Band Hariyama Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mesprit: 163-192 (54.1 - 63.7%)

252+ SpA Mesprit Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Hariyama: 422-498 (98.3 - 116%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
