Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Rockium Z
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Superpower / Steath Rock / Knock Off
Zapdos can switch in on Landorus to replace an intimidated physical attacker. Most Landorus run...
1706. I went from ~1690 to ~1590 in just a few battles and spent far too long in an infuriating climb back. I couldn't stop until I broke 1700 ... I had to stop once I did.

Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Destiny Bond
- Thunderbolt
This is just the Offensive Trapper from the Smogon Analysis with Thunderbolt selected from the slashed 4th move options (4% usage on bsus).
Gengar with no...
Zapdos @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Static
Level: 50
EVs: 220 HP / 252 Def / 36 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]

So ... this may be questionable as a lure since physdef Zapdos is often considered a counter to Salamence, but hear me out...
I'm suspending my lurking for a moment to say good luck ... and also to insist that Nihilego be pronounced like nihilism and not like whatever your Latin studies tell you.
My first instinct is always to go for Excadrill, but some of Nihilego's top teamates include Celesteela, Salamence, and Ferrothorn. The scarf set will have a hard time threatening both Nihilego and the switch in. Voting for Hulavuta because Metagross handles the Nihilego, and has options for...
Wobbuffet @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Shadow Tag
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Encore
- Destiny Bond
Wobbuffet switches in safely on max speed variants and proceeds to spam Mirror Coat. Even a boosted max Sp Atk struggles to 2HKO so...
"Don't phaze me bro"
Tailwind --> Memento --> Evoboost --> Substitute --> Baton Pass --> Stored Power/Dazzling Gleam/Calm Mind/Morning Sun
The 5-or-so turn setup is easy enough to shut down if you're prepared, but can easily sweep if you're not. I guess this would be niche offense.
3heartschall. Almost every variety of Landorus is tough for Excadrill to deal with ... it's a faster scarfer, and defensive variants have enough bulk enough not to mind being slower. Even if a weakened Landorus dies on the switch in, Intimidate is crippling. Landorus is versatile enough to find...
Voting for Corrin's Excadrill as well.
And also agree it's a check more so than counter. Z shadow claw has a good chance (87.5%) to OHKO Excadrill. And Excadrill can't OHKO if it switches in on wisp (unless you count Horn Drill).
Lastly just wanna say Jolly Excadrill with the same EVs still...
