Congratulations, your sets will be added to the Hall of Fame!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Pokemon only considered counters if it can beat the victim without Tera?
Yeah I don't love it but if something can Tera and guaranteed counter anything a Pokemon does, I generally accept it since that's what we've been doing as a while - I just tag it as such in the voting thread, as I believe that anything that requires Tera to be a counter is inherently a lot worse. I think it's only really fine in cases where you would be forced to Tera to respond to a Tera; I won't allow it on things where you'd need to predict whether the Pokemon you are checking uses Tera themselves or not, but at least in the case of last week's Toxapex set it was able to switch in regardless and Tera on the next turn to win, with Tera only being necessary if the opponent Tera'd themselves on the switch-in.
Now for the next week! Maybe just a little inspired by a recent regional win over in VGC, this week's threat will be Soul Dew Latios!

:sv/Latios:
Latios @ Soul Dew
Timid Nature
Tera Type: Steel
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Luster Purge / Psychic Noise
- Aura Sphere
- Recover

With a rework to its signature item, Soul Dew Latios becomes a terrifying threat that can rip through defensive teams, using Tera Steel to resist Dragon- and Fairy-type attacks as well as letting it avoid attempts at slowing it down with Toxic. Aura Sphere does heavy damage to Steel-types that would otherwise resist its dual STAB combination, but Luster Purge's 50% SpDef drop chance can put way too many things in range of a 156BP Draco Meteor for this Pokemon to be easily handled, particularly with Recover to let it stick around for longer. Psychic Noise can alternatively be used over Luster Purge to give walls a different kind of nightmare, losing power and the drop chance to leave defensive countermeasures unable to heal. How will you deal with this Eon twin?

Submissions are open until Thursday, May 16th at 11:59PM EST
You may submit up to 1 check and 1 counter!

Tyranitar is a check to latios. With a special defense boost, tyranitar can even take an aura sphere with two layers of spikes and still survive from full. From here, you can click knock off, which even if they tera steel, can OHKO them. The rest of the moves are just filler, you can customise it however you want. Tera ghost is an option if you want to avoid aura sphere really badly if you have 3 spikes on the field, meaning you can't take the hit.

- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
Slowking galar is a counter to latios. With an AV, glowking can take a luster purge and draco from full, even if the purge gets a special defense drop. From here, you can fire off a powerful ice beam at the latios, which does more than half to them, thus meaning you can ko them eventually while they exhaust recover pp. If they tera steel, flamethrower is also a 2hit ko, meaning glowking can take the hits quite easily. Tera dark means you can switch in very easily, as you are now immune to luster purge and aura sphere is only a 3hit ko. Regenerator means you can keep taking hits with glowking, and means even if it gets into a difficult spot, all it has to do is switch out.

Unfortunately Knock Off just barely misses out on a guaranteed KO if Latios teras, but Tera Dark can fix that.

The most damage Latios can deal over three turns is Aura Sphere twice followed by Draco Meteor, which is not quite a 3HKO after two turns of Leftovers recovery. Ting-Lu can OHKO it if it doesn't tera or 2HKO it if it does.

252 SpA Latios Aura Sphere vs. 0 HP / 252 SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 120-142 (26.6 - 31.4%) -- 16.9% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

I'm not sure how you got that, but it's incorrect. Latios resists Close Combat, and Quark Drive boosts your speed not your attack with the given EV spread and nature, resulting in this:

+2 252 Atk Iron Boulder Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 148-175 (49.1 - 58.1%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO

Most Cinderace wear boots, I can't imagine why they can't wear vests. Cinderace's attacks only have a 6.3% chance of OHKOing an untera'd Latios.
"B-but then why is it a check? D-draco Meteor OHKOs Cinderace."
That's where the AV comes into play. You can 2HKO Latios after being assaulted by giant rocks.

Iron Crown outspeeds Latios with this EV spread + Booster Energy :D
The moment Iron Crown switches in, it gets hit by a Luster Purge and gets the unfortunate Sp. Defense drop, but it can use Calm Mind right after to reduce further damage, you can keep on clicking CM until you're comfortable enough to sweep (At least twice because of the Sp. Def drop). But if Latios teras, don't forget you always have Focus Miss Blast so Latios doesn't resist any of your moves.

Awkwardly, this Latios manages to get countered by a physically defensive Gholdengo set. Switch in, Nasty Plot, then spam Shadow Ball. Recover as necessary in between. Covert Cloak should theoretically mainly be to ward off Salt Cure, but not getting Psychic move haxxed is also nice, including by Psychic Noise (yes, in the back end, it has a 100% chance of Heal Block hax).

Hatterene is a counter. Since this Latios set doesn't run any moves that hit it even neutrally, it gets plenty of opportunities to switch in and begin setting up. With a Calm Mind boost or two under its belt, Hatterene can threaten a KO with Draining Kiss if Latios hasn't Tera'd yet, or Mystical Fire if it has.

Tera Fire allows Mystical Fire to OHKO a Terastallized Latios after just one Calm Mind boost, but do keep in mind that it removes your resistances to Latios' attacks.

Iron Moth's fearsome base 140 Special Attack that can be boosted further by Fiery Dance as well as its relatively high Speed stat of 110 which, alongside Booster Energy, allows it to outrun lots of the metagame, makes it a fearsome cleaner against weakened teams. Fiery Dance allows Iron Moth to fish for Special Attack boosts, making it even stronger than it already is, while Sludge Wave is a strong Poison STAB move. Tera Blast Ground allows Iron Moth to hit Heatran, which would otherwise be a major counter to it. Finally, Substitute allows Iron Moth to take advantage of the switches it forces to safely throw out its powerful attacks. How will you deal with this futuristic phenomenon?

This doesn't work. Iron Moth can pop the balloon with normal-type Tera Blast on the switch, then tera the next turn. At that point it just needs to correctly predict whether you will tera, since it can finish you off with two Sludge Waves if you do or one Tera Blast if you don't.

Check:
:sv/roaring-moon:
Roaring Moon @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 220 Atk / 36 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Acrobatics
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

Roaring Moon revenge kills Iron Moth, as a non-tera Acrobatics 2HKOs the solar panel beast.
But only revenge kill, it it can get 2HKO'ed by Iron Moth itself, but can outspeed it before that happens.

220 Atk Roaring Moon Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 124 Def Tera Ground Iron Moth: 156-184 (51.8 - 61.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
132 SpA Tera Ground Iron Moth Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Roaring Moon: 151-178 (43 - 50.7%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO

Counter:
:sv/Ting-Lu:
Ting-Lu @ Assault Vest
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Heavy Slam
- Stone Edge
- Ruination

Iron Moth is forced to tera or get nuked by an Earthquake, which still does over half of its HP.
So, how does Iron Moth KO Ting-Lu before its 3 turns are up?
It doesn't. This is a win for Ting-Lu.

252+ Atk Ting-Lu Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 124 Def Iron Moth: 808-952 (268.4 - 316.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Ting-Lu Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 124 Def Tera Ground Iron Moth: 202-238 (67.1 - 79%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
132 SpA Iron Moth Fiery Dance vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 76-91 (14.7 - 17.7%) -- possible 6HKO
+1 132 SpA Iron Moth Fiery Dance vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 115-136 (22.3 - 26.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
+2 132 SpA Iron Moth Fiery Dance vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 153-181 (29.7 - 35.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Moral of the story: Just run tera Flying, you don't need to check everything in this violent meta.
Actually, Ting-Lu has Stone Edge, so that doesn't help much.
