What is the bug?
Gen 2 formats with Event Clause (such as NC 2000) now incorrectly flag all Hidden Power types as "Event-only" moves, thus banned. Regular "Hidden Power" is however allowed.
No clue why this started happening as it was fine...
Japanese Tier Lists
As mentioned in the OP, Orre Singles has been played for the last 20 years in Japan, so I wanted to share some tier lists I found.
There are two important differences. The first is that they played at Level 50, which means no Tyranitar. This is undoubtedly significant, as...
Over time the Orre community has come up with several subformats that diversify the viable strategies and Pokemon.
Main formats
XD - Restricted & Mythical Pokemon are banned. Soul Dew is banned. Inspired by Pokemon XD's Orre Colosseum. Colloquially referred to as "Standard".
Classic -...

Orre Singles
Orre Singles is the officially supported Singles format of Gen 3. It uses Bring6Pick3 rules, with Item Clause, Team Preview and no additional bans or restrictions.
Compared to 6v6, Orre Singles is much faster paced, but individual games are...
Hey appreciate this! Could I get a version without text or background, just Metagross and Salamence? DM it to me if you can please so I can DM you back
Requester: Akiak
For: Orre Singles (Bring6Pick3 ADV singles, inspired by the ruleset in Pokemon Colosseum & XD)
Art Direction: Just Salamence and Metagross fighting each other, with no text and no background.
For ADV & DPP doubles:
1) Hidden Power Electric is supposed to ignore Lightningrod. This is known as it was abused in Battle Road 2005 tournaments to beat Marowak+Gyarados (source at the bottom of the page, also here). Replay. Also affects Gen 4.
2) Shell Bell seems to not take into account...
Any update on these two?
Here's a couple replays of Shell Bell in action in XD:

I was looking at this for ADV Doubles, cause it removes Sub/Icy Wind/Twave/Boom for a ton of mons, which is really interesting. And I had an idea.
Ruby & Sapphire contain data for every single Pokemon (and item) in them. So one could simply play a metagame that allows every Pokemon, but bans...

Welcome to Johto Stadium! This is a collection of formats inspired by the official competitive ruleset (Nintendo Cup) as well as the 3 cups introduced in Pokémon Stadium 2 (Prime Cup, Poké Cup, Little Cup).
These formats are the preferred way of playing Gen 2 in Japan, and the...

Kanto Stadium
Welcome to Kanto Stadium! This is a collection of formats inspired by the official competitive ruleset (Nintendo Cup) as well as the 4 cups introduced with Pokémon Yellow (Prime Cup, Poké Cup, Pika Cup, Petit Cup).
These formats are the preferred way of...
I agree that it's pretty easy, but it's still an unnecessary step if most of us agree that R&B sprites are better.
Also like I said it doesn't work in the teambuilder. And it's worsening the experience for new players that aren't aware of it.
1) The Red & Blue sprites are the sprites that most people associate with Gen 1. They are also, in my opinion, far better than the Yellow sprites. Maybe you like certain Yellow sprites, but the most iconic sprites are from Red & Blue.
2) The changes that Yellow brings to the metagame are...

Thanks to Jimothy Cool for the excellent coverage!
Also, we've recently added BSS-style Singles formats (Bring6Pick3 with Team Preview & Item Clause) so be sure to join the Discord if you want to try those as well.
The Exact HP Mod does not display the foe's exact HP above the Pokemon (or if you hover over it), but only in the log, and only after taking damage (so it can't be used turn 1 to figure out EVs).
It does however work if Hardcore Mode is on, but this isn't really a solution.
Exact HP is needed...
I've been passionate about game design my entire life. I've designed board games, card games, and video games (just for fun). I find chess to be pretty fascinating, however at the same time I don't particularly enjoy it. The over-reliance on theory, the almost "solved" nature of it. And why not...
So given that we have Nintendo Cup on PS, that means we have all the relevant mechanics as well regarding level limits and team preview, right?
I would love to see this format but with the Colosseum 2 mechanics. Seems like it'd be the true pinnacle of Gen 1 competitive, if you want to go by...
