Draft Bronzong

[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 6 onwards

**Price Range**: 8-9 points

**Overview**: Bronzong's great defensive profile as a Steel-type allows it to fit nicely onto a lot of teams. It has good stats in both defenses and is one of the few Steel-types that is not weak to Ground. While its defensive potential is great, its offensive profile is nothing to write home about. Bronzong's middling offensive stats and lack of pivoting moves result in it often being a sinkhole for a team's momentum. However, its rather diverse offensive and supportive movepool and defensive utility make it a welcome addition to most teams that need a Steel-type later in the draft.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Defensive Wall**: Bronzong's ability to be built around either defense and great defensive typing give it a lot of flexibility when being built. This allows it to switch into a lot of different Pokemon and tank their attacks.

**Offensive Lure**: Bronzong can use its natural bulk paired with Weakness Policy and strong coverage to lure and trade itself for an important Pokemon on the opposing team.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Iron Head, Heavy Slam, Gyro Ball, Flash Cannon, Psychic, Psyshock, Future Sight, Psychic Noise, Zen Headbutt

**Setup Moves**: Calm Mind, Iron Defense

**Utility Moves**: Light Screen, Reflect, Stealth Rock, Trick, Trick Room, Hypnosis, Imprison, Night Shade

**Coverage**: Earthquake, Ice Spinner, Rock Slide, Body Press, Grass Knot, Shadow Ball, Power Gem

Niche Moves
========
**Stored Power**: Stored Power can be a strong option when running a Calm Mind or Iron Defense Bronzong with Weakness Policy.

Common Items
========
**Leftovers**: Bronzong being immune to both forms of Spikes and resistant to Stealth Rock allows it to safely run Leftovers to regain HP as it sits on the field.

**Resistance Berries**: Bronzong's typing and bulk mean that the best way of damaging it quickly is to use super effective attacks. Resistance Berries, Colbur Berry in particular due to how common Knock Off is, allow Bronzong to further withstand the onslaught of attacks it is bound to take.

**Rocky Helmet**: Rocky Helmet allows Bronzong to force extra chip damage onto opposing physical attackers and punish U-turn.

Niche Items
========
**Weakness Policy**: Bronzong is bulky enough to take most super effective hits at least once. It can use Weakness Policy to take advantage of this, sometimes with Trick Room, and can generally take a Pokemon or two down with it.

**Sitrus Berry**: If there is a matchup where Bronzong needs the extra health immediately to take another hit or it likely won't be on the field long enough to warrant Leftovers, Sitrus Berry is a good choice .

**Light Clay**: Light Clay allows Bronzong to set longer-lasting dual screens to support its team.

Tera
========
Bronzong does have some utility as a Tera Captain, but there is almost always a better option. If it is used as a Tera Captain, some of the premier Tera types for it are Tera Fighting, Fairy, and Water. Tera Fighting allows for a much stronger Body Press and makes Bronzong resistant to Knock Off. Tera Water and Fairy are both great defensive Tera types and cover some of Bronzong's common weaknesses. Bronzong can also utilize Tera Electric and Poison, as both of them pair well with Levitate and leave Bronzong with at most one weakness.

Draft Strategy
========
Bronzong fits great on teams that need a bulky Steel-type at a cheaper price. In particular, teams that are weak to Ground but still need a Steel-type love Bronzong for its immunity to Ground with Levitate. It also provides teams with a lot of important resistances like Fairy and Flying.

**Strong Dark-types**: Strong Dark-types help keep opposing Ghost-types from breaking through Bronzong. Having a good offensive Dark-type to threaten them or a bulky Dark-type to switch in on them helps Bronzong perform its role well. Good examples include Urshifu-S, Ting-Lu, and Meowscarada.

**Strong Fighting-types**: Strong Fighting-types help get rid of the Dark-types that are often an annoyance to Bronzong. They also offer a solid switch-ins to Knock Off. Pokemon like Great Tusk, Iron Valiant, and Quaquaval all form a strong duo with Bronzong.

Checks and Counters
========
**Super Effective Coverage**: Bronzong's weakness to prevalent coverage moves such as Knock Off, Flamethower, and Heat Wave is often its downfall. A lot of the Pokemon that Bronzong would like to switch into have such coverage moves to put pressure on it. It is important to be aware of the coverage foes can bring to best utilize Bronzong's defensive capabilities.

**Strong Setup**: Bronzong's rather passive nature means that it is often the target of setup Pokemon. It lacks moves such as Encore and Toxic to punish setup. This allows most Pokemon with strong setup options to take advantage of Bronzong; examples include Latias, Annihilape, and Cresselia.

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types are among the few types of foe that offensively pressure Bronzong. They tend to be very good offensively in general, so it is crucial to have a solid Ghost-resistant Pokemon on a Bronzong team to give it as much support as possible. Pokemon like Annihilape, Ceruledge, and Gholdengo all massively threaten Bronzong.

**Overview**: Bronzong's great defensive profile as a Steel-type allows it to fit nicely onto a lot of teams. It has good stats in both defenses and is one of the few Steel-types that is not weak to Ground-type attacks. It can alternatively run Heatproof to help deal with Fire-type attacks. Both give it ways to counteract some of the Steel-type's key weaknesses. While its defensive potential is great, its offensive profile is nothing to write home about. It boasts middling stats in both attacks require it to use its set-up movepool to threaten on that side. It can also be a sinkhole for the team's momentum.(rework into same sentence) It requires the player to make good predictions to prevent Bronzong from being taken advantage of offensively, in particular it can be a target for opposing set-up threats. However, its rather diverse movepool and defensive utility make it a welcome addition to most teams needing a Steel-type later in the draft.
a lot of this just feels like filler to me and or overselling it - i put stuff in red that i think should go but maybe considering reworking the rest anyways

Common Roles
========
**Defensive Wall**: Bronzong's ability to be built around either defense and great defensive typing gives it a lot of flexibility when being built. It allows it switch into a lot of different pokemon in the format and help keep them at bay. 1-2 sentences about the first common role it takes.

its sv could maybe have screens setter as a common role - its up to you though
Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Iron Head, Heavy Slam, Gyro Ball, Flash Cannon, Psychic, Psyshock, Future Sight, Psychic Noise, Zen Headbutt

**Setup Moves**: Calm Mind, Iron Defense,

**Utility Moves**: Light Screen, Reflect, Stealth Rock, Trick, Trick Room, Hypnosis, Imprison, Night Shade

**Coverage**: Earthquake, Ice Spinner, Rock Slide, Body Press, Grass Knot, Shadow Ball, Power Gem

Niche Moves
========
**Weather Ball**: Weather Ball is a strong coverage move to have in or against weather to take advantage of it with strong coverage. (i follow the train of thought but maybe too niche)

**Stored Power**: Stored Power can be a strong option when running a Calm Mind or Iron Defense Bronzong with Weakness Policy.

Common Items
========
**Leftovers**: Bronzong being immune to both forms of Spikes, and resisted to Stealth Rock allows it to safely run Leftovers to regain HP as it sits on the field.

**Resistance Berry**: Bronzong's typing and bulk mean that the best way of damaging it fast is to use Super-Effective attacks. Resistance berries, Colbur in particular due to how common Knock Off is, allow for Bronzong to further withstand the enslought of attacks it is bound to take.

**Sitrus Berry**: If there is a matchup where Bronzong needs the extra health immediately to take another hit or it likely won't be on the field long enough to warrant Leftovers, Sitrus Berry is a good alternative.

**Rocky Helmet**: Rocky Helmet allows Bronzong to force extra chip damage onto opposing physical attackers and help punish U-turn against it.

would add light clay
Niche Items
========
**Weakness Policy**: Bronzong is bulky enough to take most super-effective hits at least once. It can use Weakness Policy to take advantage of this, especially with Trick Room, and can generally take a Pokemon or two down with it if it has a decent offensive matchup.

**Assault Vest**: Assault Vest allows Bronzong to better take on some of the potent special attackers in the tier such as Enamorus. (eh?)

Tera
========
Bronzong does have some utility as a Tera pokemon, however, there as there is almost always a better option for Tera on the team. It's defensive typing is great naturally and a big part of the reason it fits onto most teams. Being able to make it better fit a team's needs on a game-to-game basis is great, but it's often not worth it in the long run. However, if it is used as a Tera captain, some of the premier types on it include Fighting, Fairy, Water, and Steel itself. Tera Fighting allows for much stronger use of Body Press and it makes it resistant to Knock Off. Water and Fairy are both great defensive typings and cover some of Bronzong's common weaknesses. Steel allows for Bronzong to improve its weakness to Dark and Ghost in exchange for a weakness to Fighting, which it has the STAB attacks to help cover. It can also utilize Electric and Poison as both of them pair well with Levitate and end up with Bronzong having zero and one weakness respectively. While it is by no means a premier Tera captain, nor is it often even considered for Tera usage, it has the tools to be a great defensive Tera captain if necessary. (you can just say it uses defensive tera types like x and y for a and b. this section is WAY too long)

Draft Strategy
========
Bronzong fits great on teams needing a bulky Steel-type at a cheaper price. In particular, teams that are weak to Ground-types but still need a Steel-type love Bronzong for its immunity to Ground-type attacks with Levitate. It also provides teams with a lot of important resistances.

**Good Pivots**: Pokemon that force switches and can use momentum moves to reposition itself and its team pair great alongside Bronzong. While Bronzong has the ability to switch into a lot of Pokemon, anytime it gets a free switch onto the field of play is preferred as it preserves its HP for later in the match. Pokemon that can also take advantage of Bronzong's long list of resistances, such as Sneasler, Urshifu-Single, and Raging Bolt, are great pairs with Bronzong. (is this true. you use bronzong as a defensive piece to switch into stuff)

**Strong Fighting-types**: Strong Fighting-types help to get rid of the Dark-types that are often the biggest annoyance to Bronzong. They also offer a solid switch in to a Knock Off. Pokemon like Great Tusk, Iron Valiant, and Quaquaval all form a strong duo with Bronzong.

should add dark types too for ghosts
Checks and Counters
========
**Knock Off**: Bronzong is not only weak to Knock Off, but it is reliant on its item slot for recovery as well. This results in Knock Off being an extremely common tactic to help break through Bronzong. It can utilize Colbur Berry to help lessen this weakness. Pairing it with good resistances to Dark-type attacks such as Great Tusk, Ting-Lu, and Overqwil can also help to mitigate this weakness.

**Strong Set-up**: Bronzong's rather passive nature means that it is often the target of set-up Pokemon. Any Pokemon with strong super-effective coverage or strong base-power STAB moves can take advantage of Bronzong and cause problems for its team.

add ghost types

Common Roles
========
**Defensive Wall**: Bronzong's ability to be built around either defense and great defensive typing gives it a lot of flexibility when being built. It allows it switch into a lot of different pokemon and tank their attacks.

**Offensive Lure**: The name could probably be better, but the idea of this set is for Bronzong to trade itself for an important piece of the opposing team, usually with Weakness Policy and an appropriate coverage move. It's easy for it to proc Weakness Policy since Dark/Fire coverage is very common, it's bulky enough to live any non-STAB coverage, and with policy boosts it's just strong enough to take out offensive mons.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Iron Head, Heavy Slam, Gyro Ball, Flash Cannon, Psychic, Psyshock, Future Sight, Psychic Noise, Zen Headbutt

**Setup Moves**: Calm Mind, Iron Defense

**Utility Moves**: Light Screen, Reflect, Stealth Rock, Trick, Trick Room, Hypnosis, Imprison, Night Shade, Protect

Move this to the bottom of common. IMO this is Bronzong's best item since it's really easy to proc and like you said it can generally take down 1-2 mons with it. It's a great lure to trade mons, like I said in the new role.

**Sitrus Berry**: If there is a matchup where Bronzong needs the extra health immediately to take another hit or it likely won't be on the field long enough to warrant Leftovers, Sitrus Berry is a good alternative.

**Light Clay**: Light Clay allows Bronzong to set longer screens to support its team.

**Lagging Tail / Sticky Barb**: Trick Bronzong is a pretty good disruptor with one of these items. Just make a quick description mentioning Trick alongside them

Tera
========
Bronzong does have some utility as a Tera pokemon, but there is almost always a better option for Tera. If it is used as a Tera captain, some of the premier types on it include Fighting, Fairy, and Water. Tera Fighting allows for much stronger use of Body Press and it makes it resistant to Knock Off. Checks and Counters
========
**Super-Effective Coverage**: Bronzong's weakness to prevelant coverage moves such as Knock Off and Flamethower / Heat Wave are often its downfall. A lot of the pokemon that Bronzong would like to switch into have one of the two to put pressure on it. It is important to be aware of the coverage the opponent can bring in order to best utilize Bronzong's defensive capabilities.

**Strong Set-up**: Bronzong's rather passive nature means that it is often the target of set-up Pokemon. Any Pokemon with strong super-effective coverage or strong base-power STAB moves can take advantage of Bronzong and cause problems for its team.
You might have missed Hacker's comment here from QC1. This needs to be more specific and focus on bulky setup sweepers like Annihilape, Cresselia, etc, since those are what take advantage of Bronzong. Offensive speedboosting ones usually aren't a major issue cause of Gyro Ball.

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types are one of the few types that offensively pressure Bronzong. They tend to be very good offensively in general, so it is crucial to have a solid Ghost resist on a Bronzong team to give it as much support as possible. Pokemon like Annihilape, Ceruledge, and Gholdengo all massively threaten Bronzong.

**Rocky Helmet**: Rocky Helmet allows Bronzong to force extra chip damage onto opposing physical attackers and help punish U-turn against it.

Niche Items
========
**Weakness Policy**: Bronzong is bulky enough to take most super effective (RH) hits at least once. It can use Weakness Policy to take advantage of this, sometimes with Trick Room, and can generally take a Pokemon or two down with it.

**Sitrus Berry**: If there is a matchup where Bronzong needs the extra health immediately to take another hit or it likely won't be on the field long enough to warrant Leftovers, Sitrus Berry is a good alternative choice (alternative doesn't work since lefties is stuck in a conditional).

**Light Clay**: Light Clay allows Bronzong to set longer-lasting dual screens to support its team.

Tera
========
Bronzong does have some utility as a Tera pokemon Captain, but there is almost always a better option for Tera. If it is used as a Tera captain Captain, some of the premier Tera types on for it include are Tera (some of and include are redundant) Fighting, Fairy, and Water. Tera Fighting allows for a much stronger use of Body Press and it makes it Bronzong resistant to Knock Off. Tera Water and Fairy are both great defensive typings Tera types and cover some of Bronzong's common weaknesses. It Bronzong can also utilize Tera Electric and Poison, (AC) as both of them pair well with Levitate and end up with Bronzong having zero and one weakness respectively leave Bronzong with at most one weakness (passive voice + awkward structure with the mixed singular and plural).

Draft Strategy
========
Bronzong fits great on teams needing that need a bulky Steel-type at a cheaper price. In particular, teams that are weak to Ground-types but still need a Steel-type love Bronzong for its immunity to Ground-type attacks with Levitate. It also provides teams with a lot of important resistances like Fairy and Flying.

**Strong Dark-types**: Stong Strong Dark-types help to keep opposing Ghost-types from breaking through Bronzong. Good examples include Urshifu-Single, Ting-Lu, and Meowscarada.

**Strong Fighting-types**: Strong Fighting-types help to get rid of the Dark-types that are often an annoyance to Bronzong. They also offer a solid switch in switch-ins to a Knock Off. Pokemon like Great Tusk, Iron Valiant, and Quaquaval all form a strong duo with Bronzong.

Checks and Counters
========
**Super Effective (RH) Coverage**: Bronzong's weakness to prevelant prevalent coverage moves such as Knock Off, (AC) and Flamethower, (AC, RS) and Heat Wave are is often its downfall. A lot of the pokemon Pokemon that Bronzong would like to switch into have one of the two such coverage moves to put pressure on it. It is important to be aware of the coverage the opponent foes can bring in order to best utilize Bronzong's defensive capabilities.

**Strong Setup (RH)**: Bronzong's rather passive nature means that it is often the target of setup (RH) Pokemon. It lacks ways of punishing set-up such as Encore or Toxic moves such as Encore and Toxic to punish setup (rephrased for clarity). This allows most Pokemon with strong setup (RH) options to be capable of taking take advantage of Bronzong; (comma > semicolon) examples include Latias, Annihilape, and Cresselia.

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types are one of among (collective plural, so not "one of") the few types of foe (not a pure type, since it refers to mons) that offensively pressure Bronzong. They tend to be very good offensively in general, so it is crucial to have a solid Ghost resist Ghost-resistant Pokemon on a Bronzong team to give it as much support as possible. Pokemon like Annihilape, Ceruledge, and Gholdengo all massively threaten Bronzong.
