Our CAP so far:
Now marked as a Final Submission.

I'd like to present the following as my stat spread submission for CAP11.

Base Stat Distribution
90 HP / 85 Atk / 80 Def / 105 SpA / 80 SpD / 110 Spe
Derived Statistics (Calculator)
PS: 153 (R6: Very Good)
PT: 132 (R5: Good)
SS: 193 (R7: Excellent)
ST: 131 (R5: Good)
BSR: 337 (R6: Very Good)
BST: 550
I will go through the relevant individual sections of the stats and discuss why I made them as I did, and then review some damage calculations to help reinforce the points I make.

Overall Style

The overall style for these stats is to function as a specially-inclined mixed sweeper. There are hints of Infernape in this stat spread, but with the bulk of something like Machamp and the special inclination of something like Gengar, all rounded together into what you see above. I generally felt that hitting harder on the special side was important, as STAB in Fighting-type attacks goes a long way to punch through special walls, such as Snorlax and Blissey. The special inclination is so that once these special tanks are out of the way or too scared to come in, CAP11 needs the special punch to take out typically physically defensive threats like Zapdos, Celebi, and Rotom-A. With his Fighting/Dark typing and higher SpA stat, CAP11 can beat down many things that would otherwise threaten a Togekiss sweep, such as Blissey and Rotom-A.

Offensive Reasoning

Base 85 Attack is a reasonable attacking stat. You won't be sweeping teams with it, but it is a good level to have when using high-power super effective attacks against very specific threats. It is important in a mixed sweeper to be able to have enough of an offensive presence to scare off would-be counters, and a base 85 Attack stat does just that. Let me show you with some relevant calculations to show you what I mean. Notice how even 252/4 Skarmory is never 2HKOed by Close Combat; this, in my opinion, is an important upper threshold for the Attack stat of CAP11.

Offensive Calculations (Physical)
Code:
All calculations will assume a neutral nature in the attacking stat,
so add 10% damage if you're using a boosting nature. You shouldn't be
using a reducing nature ever, though, if you're using that attack.

I have provided CAP11 with a base 105 Special Attack stat, which clearly indicates its special bias. With just enough physical firepower to scare off special walls, special-attacking CAP11 has a better shot at dealing some serious damage with its attacks. This stat is just enough alone to OHKO defensive Rotom-A after Stealth Rock damage, and can even go so far as 2HKOing physically defensive Zapdos with Stealth Rock damage. I have provided +2 calculations for if someone pulls off a successful Nasty Plot Baton Pass from Togekiss to CAP11, and these damage calculations indicate just how powerful such a prospect is. Notice how a +2 Dark Pulse has enough power to even OHKO physically bulky Cresselia without Stealth Rock damage. A base 105 Special Attack stat, as you can see, gives CAP11 enough power to punch through a lot of the metagame, but doesn't overdo it and still hits a few roadblocks against specific Pokemon. This is important for balancing CAP11, but keeping its offensive presence high in the OU metagame.

Defensive Reasoning

I have given CAP11 90/80/80 defenses. As is plainly visible, these balanced stats are much alike Machamp, who has 90/80/85 defenses. This should give you a hint at the sort of bulk that CAP11 will have with my spread. The following calculations have been prepared to provide you with an idea of what this sort of bulk can achieve, if the comparison to Machamp weren't enough. Notice that if, for whatever reason we decided to use Leftovers, we would not be 2HKOed by Physically Defensive Zapdos's Thunderbolt. I have only provided calculations from threats that everyone has been concerned with since the beginning of this CAP project. Offensively inclined Pokemon, such as Jolteon, put a serious hole in these defenses, but it's important to see below that Choice Specs Jolteon's Thunderbolt does not OHKO CAP11 after Stealth Rock damage. That is a respectable feat for a mostly offensive Pokemon, and something that I believe CAP11 needs. Lastly, if 252 HP EVs are used, Choice Scarf Tyranitar's Superpower will never OHKO CAP11, which is impressive and the threshold I used for CAP11's physical defensiveness.

Speed Reasoning

A lot of people think it's important to outspeed Starmie. A lot of people think it's important to outspeed Choice Scarf Tyranitar. I say that these threats are things that CAP11 should not deal with. It is important, first and foremost, for there to exist Pokemon that can wear a core down, both offensively and defensively. That means that things like Choice Scarf Tyranitar or Life Orb Starmie need to be trouble. I fixed the Speed stat for CAP11 at 110, right on top of Gengar. I did this for two primary reasons:

  • Reliably outspeeding Infernape with maximum Speed investment.
  • Always Speed tying with Gengar - a tie that can make or break a match if the players are willing to risk it.
Gengar can OHKO CAP11 with Focus Blast. CAP11 can OHKO Gengar with Dark Pulse / Crunch. This is an important and very balancing Speed tie for CAP11, one that keeps it in check by the faster metagame. I imagine partners for CAP11 outside of Togekiss and other bulky Flying-types would include specially bulky pivots like Bronzong (for Stealth Rock) and Snorlax. These pivots will support the core well, made more so by the fact that the player may not always be willing to risk a Speed tie with Gengar or losing out against the likes of Starmie. 110 is enough Speed for CAP11, and I hope that after reading this, you will agree.

Closing Remarks

Abilities are going to play a large role in exactly how much damage is either dealt by or dealt to CAP11. Suffice in knowing, though, that I have tailored these stats to supply CAP11 with the necessary bulk and necessary offensive power to support Togekiss well and play effectively on his own in the metagame. Simultaneously, I have tried very hard to keep the effective power level of these stats reasonable so that we are not creating "just another broken CAP" as many nay-sayers would like to call them. I hope that you all see in these stats the same balance that I put many hours developing and testing out.

Good luck to all entrants of this stage of the process!

Final Submission

Zy and me
would like to present the following stat spread for CAP11:

Distribution:

85 HP / 80 Atk / 85 Def / 100 SpA / 95 SpD / 120 Spe

Ratings:
PS: 147 Good (5)
PT: 135 Good (5)
SS: 189 Excellent (7)
ST: 148 Good (5)
BSR: 343: Very Good (6)
BST: 565

Style and Explanations:

We took into consideration the potency of the type combo, the possibility of a Nasty Plot pass from Togekiss, and of course, this Pokemon's self sufficiency. As such, the stat spread aims mostly on the Special Sweeping side of things, but considering that special attacking Fighting and Dark type moves are relatively weak (okay, Fighting has Focus failure), we decided that some Attack stat would help this Pokemon act as a standalone threat. A major part of that is being able to break down Special walls such as Blissey or Snorlax.

Focusing on the Special side of things help against Rotom-A, who could burn CAP11 and rendering its physical prowess useless

Attack:
As previously stated, we do not want CAP11 to have a high Attack stat as we want Togekiss' Nasty Plot support a viable option. Another important thing to point out is that according to the Type-Move chart, being a Fighting type forces Bulk Up into its movepool. Furthermore, being part Dark-type gives it guaranteed access to Taunt (unless the TL stays otherwise). With 120 Speed at hand, CAP11 could decimate teams with Bulk Up, Taunt, and almost unparalleled coverage, should we have hit the base stat limit (93) with the spread.

Special Attack:
A reasonable 100 base Special Attack should be enough for this Pokemon to deal a fair amount of damage. With impressive coverage, this Pokemon can prove to be deadly even with somewhat weak special attacks. However, for the Pokemon to pose a truly serious threat, a Nasty Plot support from Togekiss is needed.

Defenses:

Immediately, you will notice that this CAP's defenses are quite similar to Machamp's, albeit slightly more overall. Machamp is already surprisingly bulky, so you can get a general idea of how bulky this CAP is (not too bulky...though). However, do remember that the offensive inclination of this Pokemon will often lead to uninvested Defenses. Even though Togekiss' Special Defense is higher than its physical Defense, it is weak to two types of moves that CAP11 does not resist (yet...), so CAP11 has a slightly higher Special Defense to help take these hits.

Speed:

This is CAP11's highest stat, and 120 Speed allows it to pummel through Scarftar and Starmie, two potential problems. Although Starmie doesn't trouble Togekiss, CAP11 takes 71.4% min from LO Starmie Hydro Pump (meaning that after a bit of damage, Starmie can destroy the core quickly). Scarftar, on the other hand, can easily OHKO uninvested CAP11 with Superpower (and I'm certain you will not switch Togekiss into Tyranitar, would you?). Seeing as Scarftar is already one of the largest threats to Togekiss, CAP11 should be able to quickly stop it. Another important bit of info is that Tyranitar 3HKOes CAP11 with Stone Edge, so it effectively has one chance of switching into TTar before getting mauled on the next one. 120 Speed helps overcome this issue.

If there are anything that should break the core, it should not be these two. There are other Pokemon that can pose a threat to this core (e.g Metagross, Scizor, and I guess even Gyarados).

And now, my view on the reasoning behind our numbers.

The 120 Speed is probably the one thing Jibaku and I both wanted extremely. This allows it to outpace Jolly ScarfTar, Aura Sphere and prevent it from causing further damage to Togekiss, especially if you run a Togekiss without Aura Sphere, or Choice-locked on Air Slash. This also puts it above Starmie and Gengar, who both carry extremely strong Thunderbolts (and in the case of Starmie, Hydro Pump), that can pose enough of a threat to 2HKO some Togekiss that don't invest in HP or SpD. What's more is that by having a higher speed than these threats, CAP11 is not forced to rely on the slightly unreliable Sucker Punch, and there is no guarantee it will learn Sucker Punch (not a Type-Move for Dark-types, oddly). That, and the fact that it has a weaker attack means that Sucker Punch may not even guarantee the KO, even on Starmie and Gengar's weaker Defense stat. A follow on to this, is that CAP11 then is not forced to rely on Togekiss' shaky Thunder Wave support, since if we make CAP11 slow, that's two Pokemon below the 90 Speed threshold, making the pair even easier to destroy, as neither will then be able to launch Thunder Waves to support one of the other. It means we can concentrate on having Togekiss passing Nasty Plots to aid CAP11's sweep.

Coming onto that, the subject of power. 100 SpA is equal to the likes of Tyranitar and Starmie. While they seem like powerful attackers (definitely in the case of Starmie, and Tyranitar's Bait Killer set also shouldn't be overlooked), they actually lack the power to OHKO anything significant. And you should also remember they have access to an incredible movepool with near perfect SE coverage, while CAP11 will likely be limited to STAB moves, and with good NEUTRAL coverage. This basically means by itself, CAP11 is not going to be a very effective sweeper, since it is going to miss KOs on quite a few threats it can't hit SE, thus further relying on Togekiss' Nasty Plot to do any significant damage (see: above calcs). The best thing is that anything significant it can't KO, (even with a boost in some cases) are also doing enough damage back to it so that it's going to be put into a difficult situation, as we don't want this core to be unbreakable. Conversely, I wanted Attack to be as useless as possible. My original rough Spread had an Attack stat of 60, as this was just barely enough to 2HOK Blissey and Snorlax with Close Combat. I do not want to see a Physical set becoming plausible, especially if you consider that 100 base SpA with a +2 boost can 2HKO Blissey with Aura Sphere. An attempted mixed attacker set is plausible, perhaps Sucker Punch / 3 Special attacks, as you're probably only using Sucker Punch to KO anything faster, i.e. Azelf, Scarfed stuff and Jolteon. Anything else slower either doesn't pose as much of a threat, or you can dispatch after a Nasty Plot boost.

Bulk-wise, this was actually the part I paid most attention to detail with and that Jibaku and I changed the most often. Quite simple, the job is this - avoid being 2HKOed by anything that threatens Togekiss, make sure it doesn't wall anything at all. UNforunately, that second point was hard to do, due to typing, but we made it weak enough that anything remotely offensive could KO it with the right attack and situation. 95 HP / 95 SpD was a good ballpark, as it could then survive neutral Thunderbolts and such. However, the problem then was making it weaker as to not get too defensive, while balancing the Special Bulk and Physical Bulk. As Deck Knight showed a while ago, any physical offensive attack is either going to flat out KO you or is rare and/or weak. As a result, we could afford a lower Physical Bulk, as then it can just about avoid 2HKOes on Physical Attacks that are weak. But as we said, any physical attack worth thinking about is going to punch CAP11 into next year, so it wasn't that important.

TL;DR - less physical power, more concentrated special bias.

Overview
My spread's main goal is to render Togekiss' counters harmless as easily as possible. Zapdos is the main threat in my eyes, so the spread is partially based around it. When I began creating this, I knew from the start that I wanted to outspeed Zapdos and Lucario, have a good special attack to pair with it, and still be able to shrug off STAB Thunderbolts. On the Physical side, I took much less interest as the few physical threats to Togekiss (Lucario, Tyrantar) are either destroyed by CAP11's typing or outspeed and easily dealt with.

Offenses
Like everyone else's, my spread is biased specially. 108 speed is on par with Infernape's and is higher than Zapdos, Lucario, and Rotom. Combined with a solid SpA (Higher than Rotom's or Infernape's), my spread is able to take on Togekiss' main threats. My spread is also at a perfect location for taking NP Passes. 108 Special Attack won't sweep anything, but armed with a boost, it becomes very dangerous. Think Infernape with real defenses.

On the other hand 85 Attack isn't much. But its enough to scare off Blissey if you use CC, or dent a Jolteon with Sucker Punch.

Defenses
So, as you can see, my spread is very good on the Special side. This is to prevent Zapdos from running over it. I attempted to do the same for Jolteon, but SpecsJolt will run through this combo, as no allowed Special Tankiness can take more than one TBolt from it. Anyway, Zapdos is key. It has two main sets: Offensive, and Physically Defensive. Both defeat Togekiss, so CAP11 must be able to deal with both. Offensive is easier. Even if my spread has no investment in the defenses, LOZapdos can never OHKO, while CAP11 can outspeed and always OHKO with Ice Beam after SR. Defensive Zapdos is a bit more problematic, but this spread can still handle it.

On the Physically Defensive spectrum, my Spread is not outstanding but good enough. A ScarfTar Stone Edge doesn't 2hko, while an Aura Sphere certainly does. With a little investment in HP (96 EVs or so), My spread can always take a +2 Extremespeed from an Adamant Luke and OHKO back. Its Defenses are good enough to take care of threats to Togekiss.

Calcs!

In my Damage Calculations, I have decided to optimize the spread according to the need. Now while obviously you aren't going to do this with CAP11.

Zapdos:

For Offensive Zapdos, the best possible EV Spread is Timid with 52 HP/16 SpA/252 SpD/192 Spe. This insures you always outspeed it.

LO CAP11 using Ice Beam against Offensive Zapdos: 65.4% - 77.3%
Offensive Zapdos using Thunderbolt against CAP11: 49.7% - 58.6%

So as you can see, this spread can switch in with ease on anything and OHKO Zapdos after SR and one LO recoil. If you want to be safe, 164 SpA EVs always OHKO without recoil, but the defenses must be compromised.

For Physically Defensive Zapdos, the best possible spread is Modest 4 HP/252 SpA/252 SpD. This set outspeeds Defensive Zapdos.

LO CAP11 using Ice Beam against Defensive Zapdos: 73.6% - 87.2%
Zapdos using Thunderbolt against CAP11: 32.8% - 38.7%

So while max stats can't quite OHKO Zapdos after SR, it still does most of the time. Since you outspeed, Roost has no effect on Ice Beam.

Rotom-A

For Defensive Rotom, I will use the same spread as Defensive Zapdos.

LO CAP11 using Dark Pulse against Defensive Rotom-A: 102.6% - 121.1%
Defensive Rotom-A using Thunderbolt against CAP11: 27.8% - 33.1%

Similarly to Defensive Zapdos, Rotom can't hurt CAP11 much. But unlike Zapdos, Rotom shrivels up and dies at the site of CAP11. Even without SR, it is cleanly OHKOed and is always outsped. Scarf Rotom does outspeed CAP11, but it still doesn't do much damage at all and is cleanly OHKOed

Tyranitar

Leftovers CAP11 (Neutral Nature, 252 SpA) using Aura Sphere against Scarf Tyranitar: 150.9% - 178.9%
Scarftar using Earthquake against 0/0 CAP11: 43.2% - 51.2%

This is a great example of Togekiss working together with CAP11. CAP11 can always OHKO Scarftar and can shrug off any off its attacks... except Earthquake. If TTar comes in on Togekiss, it probably won't be using Earthquake, making CAP11 and easy switch in. And even if it does, any amount of defensive EVs will allow CAP11 to take two EQs.

As for other Tyranitar... they rarely carry any move that can OHKO my spread, and it always outspeeds ScarflessTar. Tyranitar is not much of a problem for CAP11.

Blissey

Blissey is pretty much the only reason to have a physical move on CAP11 with my spread.

CAP11 using Close Combat (0 EVs) against WishBliss Blissey: 57.1% - 67.5%
CAP11 using +2 Aura Sphere (252 EVs neutral nature) against WishBliss Blissey: 55.7% - 65.8%

My set has enough Attack to easily 2HKO standard Blissey without any investment. So if you were using a supporting set (Something like Close Combat/Dark Pulse/Taunt/Filler) you could invest more in other stats and still be fine against Blissey. If you were using a sweeping set, with only one NP you can always 2HKO with Aura Sphere, even without a LO. Blissey is obviously not an issue. Just for your information... with no HP investment, you sit a 301... enough HP to not be 3HKOed by Seismic Toss.

Jolteon
SpecsJolt is nearly impossible to comfortably counter unless you are Blissey or Tyrantar... but my spread can beat it one on one with a Scarf.

Scarf CAP11 (Modest, 252 SpA) using Aura Sphere against Spec Jolteon: 54.4% - 64.3%
Specs Jolton using Thunderbolt against Scarf CAP11 (4 HP/252 SpD): 54% - 63.9%

The damage output is similar, but armed with a Scarf, CAP11 outspeeds and wins... if it can get in. I could not find an effective way to switch in on Jolteon and beat it. This method can revenge it or try to lure it in, but it can't legitimately counter it.

Lucario
SD Lucario is another threat that gives Togekiss trouble, but this spread+a little prediction can take it on.

Adamant SD Lucario using +2 Extremespeed against CAP11 (96 HP EVs): 79.4% - 93.5%
CAP11 using Aura Sphere (16 EVs) against SD Lucario: 100.4% - 118.1%

Here is the likely situation... Togekiss is in on whatever and Lucario comes in. Lucario Sword Dances while you switch to CAP11. CAP11 with some investment outspeeds Lucario. Luke must use Extremespeed, which you can take and OHKO back. As long as you don't come in on the CC, you can beat Lucario.

555 BST

First off, I'll explain my reasoning behind the HP stat; Base 74.

Why such a low HP stat? Simple; it provides a limit on what this cap can do EV wise. A lot of the other spreads I have seen submitted (not all, mind you, but there are quite a few) have HP of base 100 or above, something that has been done quite a bit in previous CAPs. Plus having a lower HP stat promotes the use of more offensive spreads; the TL himself has stated that he wants this to be an "offensive" combination between Togekiss and CAP11, which a lower base HP is more inclined to promote. Base 74 HP also gives a natural LO number; 289, perfect for an offensive CAP like CAP11. However, if you DO decide to go in a defensive route, dropping 252 EVs into HP nets you an extra point of leftovers recovery.

Next up, the Offenses stats; base 85 Atk / base 101 SpA

I didn't want this CAP to be excellent at going mixed, because, while that might prove beneficial to removing Togekiss's counters, it would also promote CAP11 to sweep on its own, which is something that goes against the concept; the two are supposed to work together, not apart. Base 85 attack is perfect for this CAP, because even with a -Nature (such as timid) you still 2hko Blissey with close combat using only 4 attack EVs. Base 101 SpA provides a punch, that, while it isn't very capable of sweeping on it's own, if passed a NP boost it becomes a potent threat.

Third, the defenses; both Base 95.

CAP 11 isn't supposed to take many hits, as it has been expressed that this is supposed to be a more offensively inclined duo. However, that isn't to say it can't have some defensive capabilities; with two base 95 stats and a leftovers HP number, you have a decent defensive partner that can support Togekiss, while still proving to be a threat with base 101 SpA. Togekiss can support CAP11; with 74 / 95 / 95 defenses, CAP11 should be able to do the same.

Finally, the speed stat; base 105.

Why 105 speed? Because it allows us to outrun zapdos and rotom, two key threats to this duo, while not being too fast at the same time. With 105 speed CAP11 will be fast, but not too much so; there will be things able to check it, and to counter it, which is what we want. The higher the speed is, the harder it is for it to have checks or counters. Considering that there are some OU pokemon that threaten CAP11 (such as infernape and gengar carrying focus blast), 105 speed allows these pokemon to become checks or counters this CAP.

I think I covered most of the important things. For those who see the numbers in the defensive calcs being high--they're supposed to be that way. This is an offensive combination, not a defensive one. And as for the offensive calcs--all of these are done w/o any boosting item; with LO or specs or even a modest nature, the damage output will increase.

Good luck to everyone!

Happy voting.

I'm voting for Jibaku and Zystral's spread, because I think it is crucial for this CAP to outspeed threats such as Choice Scarf TTar and Starmie, and it has the power and defenses to do what it is required to help out Togekiss. Such is the nature of these polls that most of the spreads are very similar, but I think their spread would be the best for this CAP, as it still gets crucial KOs with its SpA. I would also have no problem with Rising Dusk's spread, as it still outspeeds crucial things like Infernape.

I dislike Hydrolphin's spread because it can only tie with Infernape, which leaves it very open to a Close Combat, and the same thing with Zari's but it can't even tie so it loses outright to it.

I voted for Zari's spread. It is the least broken, first of all, in terms of sweepers. More than 100 speed, and special attack, it's just turning into a generic sweeper. 10 5 speed yes is the slowest, as I imagined this Pokemon being sort of an absorber of attacks, while slow. Like a bulkyer Tyranitar, to absorb the moves thrown at Togekiss.

All the other spreads are a bit too broken.

It is mind-numbingly critical that the core have weaknesses. CAP11 should not be switching into and outspeeding absolutely everything that threatens Togekiss, and people need to remember that. It is important that Choice Scarf Tyranitar outspeeds CAP11 so that it can check the core (and force the use of a pivot). Furthermore, you either want to tie with Starmie or lose to it, because it should also check the core. These checks keep the core - go figure - in check and prevent it from running rampant. Actually, these checks go so far as to keep CAP11 from being a one-man army that Togekiss would just slow down. A lot of people for this stat spread process have almost entirely forgotten that we're trying to create something that would complement Togekiss in some fashion. 120 Speed complements it by making it a weak link and necessitating removing it entirely from the team.

I am sad that reachzero's spread was not selected for the slate, because of all of the other spreads beside my own, it was the one I most-supported. Can't win them all, I suppose, so I voted for the home team. 110 Speed is important to outspeed Infernape (It's important that Infernape is forced to Mach Punch CAP11 or run a Scarf), but still enable Choice Scarf Tyranitar and Starmie to check it. That's really the single most-important point to be made here, as offenses and bulk are largely similar between spreads.

I voted for Rising_Dusk's stat spread.

I agree with and really like the 110 Base speed, giving CAP11 some checks in Starmie, and the speed tie with the dangerous Gengar. The 110 Base speed also outruns Rotom and Zapdos, and it can even outrun Infernape (that isn't carrying a choice scarf), which if I remember correctly, was a concern for mainly people in the typing threads.

I also like the Attack/Special Attack spread, as Dusk said, it has enough physical power to scare off Special Walls, but still is clearly special. The other spreads also fulfill this idea, but combined with the reasoning behind the 110 base speed, I felt Dusk's spread was superior.

Jibaku & Zystral. The extra speed sells me on it, and its got respectable defence and an attacking split.
That said, they're all pretty good, so I don't care who wins.

The core must have a weakness, that is the truth; however that weakness is what separates all four spreads from each other. And how great or small that weakness is determined by how fast CAP11 turns out to be.

With 120 speed only 4 pokemon in OU would outspeed CAP11, those being weavile, aerodactyl, jolteon, and ninjask. Ninjask is basically used as a lead, because SR cripples it. That basically removes it from the list of CAP11's checks/counters. Weavile has no business being in on CAP11 either, regardless of which spread is chosen, and aerodactyl's strongest attack vs CAP11 is wing attack. The flying rock mon is almost always used as a lead, and a suicide lead at that, while CAP11 and togekiss are meant to stick around in the match for a while. That leaves CAP11's only real "checks" to be jolteon, scarfers and feasibly priority, a list far smaller than most mons that are in OU now have.

Base 110 speed is more manageable, although not by much; it raises the list of pokemon faster than CAP11 to 6, with gengar being a 7th only because it ties speed with CAP11. The other 6 are whittled down to 3, and then two; once again aerodactyl, ninjask and weavile aren't going to be in while CAP11 is. The 3rd knock off is azelf; outside of explosion, azelf doesn't have moves that deal significant damage against cap11 (IE SE moves outside of stuff like HP flying). That leaves starmie, jolteon, scarfers and priority as what can potentially check CAP11.

108 Base speed belongs only to infernape, with nothing between it and base 110. Infernape has now become a threat (because it is not forced to use mach punch/a scarf to hit CAP11), although it is mostly a coin toss; this is good, but in my spread I went a step further.

My reasoning behind choosing a base 105 Speed stat is this: It provides us with the possibility of a true counter, rather than a check to cap11. It also gives us some leeway to have a + SpA nature, without sacrificing the ability to outrun threats such as Zapdos. If they want to outspeed CAP11 they are forced to run a + Spe nature reducing the damage dealt to the pair by 10%.

All four spreads are definitely viable for this CAP, but each selects a different speed tier and a different amount of checks for CAP11. Who knows, having less checks might be a good thing; the only way to tell is through testing, at the end of this CAP process.

I'd like to wish the best of luck to my competitors as well ^^

I voted for Rising Dusk

I did this as he has made sure there are limits in all aspects of CaP 11's power such as Close combat never 2HKOing Skarmory etc.

I also like the 110 base speed as it outspeeds Infernape, but not all threats, leaving the core defeatable.

Disappointed that I didn't make the poll. Oh well.

Voting for Rising_Dusk. His higher attacks and lower defenses I feel are appropriate for an offensive partner to Togekiss, and I do like the 550 BST. Of the spreads listed, it reminds me most of my own.

However, I am wondering about the presence of Jibaku's spread. It has only rank 5 physical sweepiness, which conflicts with the required rank 6.

Rank 6 is the limit. As far as I'm concerned you can go below the limit

This was a tough choice for me between Rising_Dusk and Jibaku & Zystral.

Dusk's has sufficient uninvested physical offense to pose a threat to Blissey and also the best initial special offense. 110 Speed is sufficient to deal with Infernape, as no other spread can do so without also using a boosting nature. Dusk strikes a good balance for what it needs to do.

As much as I like the idea of beating Starmie, Scarftar, and Azelf in speed, I don't think it's necessary. Gengar running HP Fire for Scizor is outsped, and I don't imagine CAP10 would have to do so since while Scizor resists Dark Pulse, it can also outprioritize Scizor in a pinch with required move Vacuum Wave. CAP11 is also bulkier and could potentially use Counter.

So in other words this spread doesn't leave CAP11 open to much, since it has STAB on some of the game's better priority moves. Lower Speed also means it could utilize STAB Payback, which is stronger than Crunch anyway.

Dusk ultimately strikes the right balance, outspeeding all of the important fighters, leaving only the ones with sketchier Fighting attacks like Scarftar's Superpower and Gengar's Focus Blast. There are nearly zero priority fighting attack users in OU, and speed would not help with them anyway.

Voted for Rising Dusk. The first time I saw it, it seemed so reasonable. And we need Togekiss's partner, in my opinion, to mimic with Togekiss the Uber sweep team of Salamence and Raquaza.

I personally want this CAP to be as fast as possible, as that way it can take down counters to Togekiss quicker. Thusly, Jibaku/Zystral's spread get's the nod over all the others in my head.

Voted for the Jibaku/Zystral spread, primarily because I think outspeeding Gengar is utterly paramount. I'm not happy about it outspeeding Starmie as well, but that's better than not outrunning Gengar. It also has the best balance of offense/defense out of all the options presented.

Voting for Zari's stat spread.

It was a tough decision, but I think 105 speed is enough to get the job done. Starmie isn't much of a threat in my opinion, gengar is a risky check, and most infernape can only beat 252 hp togekiss hurt on top of SR damage. Really I think we just need checks, and 105 outspeeds most of kiss' common counters. The rest of the stats on the spreads are similar, so speed was the deciding factor. I'm fine with the decent, balanced defenses as well.

Lower Speed also means it could utilize STAB Payback, which is stronger than Crunch anyway.
Payback on a pokemon with 110 base speed, I don't think so.

I voted for jibaku's spread because if this thing is going to be a good receiver of nasty plots from togekiss it really needs high speed. beating gengar, scarftar, azelf and starmie really helps to avoid being revenge killed.

I voted for Zari's.

I'm ok with all the special attack stats. 101 seems good. I've a fun time using pokemon such as Starmie in the OU game. Speedy pokemon with special attacks around 100 are fun to use.

Speaking of speedy pokemon with high special attack like Starmie, I like the speed state of 105. I was also ok with the 110. I'm against the 120, because it would reduce the number of potential counters. I wouldn't want the duo to be unstoppable together. I mean, after all, the fun of the game is the fact that no one pokémon can defeat everything.

The 85 attack prevents it from being too powerful of a physical sweeper, but still pack a punch. It's typing makes me imagine it could have a few nice physical moves, which it could still put to use with out being too overpowering.

I like the HP and defense combo, allowing to play defensively if it needs to, but encouraging the idea that it's more of an offensive pokémon.

All in all, I'm pretty ok with any of the stat spreads. They all have their ups and downs. They all give a good sense of diversity that would be fun to play.
Another thing to keep in mind is, even though the two should work great a duo, they will still have 4 other team mates to back them up, so they don't have to demolish everything by themselves with just a supporting stealth rocker and buffer or something.

Ok, I'm rambling I think... I'm done rambling about stuff you already know.

I can't vote for something that's faster than Starmie (are we making Gyarados' perfect partner here?)

I voted for the one with the highest combined attacks, hydrolphin

I was really disappointed to see that nothing with an Atk of over 85 made it in. Togekiss can already past NPs I don't see why people are so set on this pokemon covering the special spectrum. Also a special CAP11 is going to have a lot more touble taking down TTar than it should...

I also kind of wish reach's spread made it. Oh, well.

This was a pretty hard decision that I think ultimately went down to subjectivity and preference. Hydrolphin's spread wasn't justified all that well compared to the others, which put my choice down to the other three. Jibaku/Zy is fast, Zari is slow, and RD is between them. The problem then became: Should Starmie be a good check? What about Infernape and Gengar? Losing to Scarftar I could honestly deal with because it makes an obvious, major sacrifice (move switching) to do so. However, Infernape and Gengar are top OU threats, and Starmie is taking its place as an anti-metagame Pokémon in this environment. I don't see myself justifying Starmie as an intentional check.

People talking about having enough checks should consider looking at this from a different perspective: the movepool. Does CAP 11 have to have BoltBeam and Earthquake. Personally, I've only ever assumed Fighting/Dark STAB, Type-Move requirements and Stone Edge. Without BoltBeam and Earthquake, Dragonite, Gyarados and Agiligross can actually set up on CAP 11. Additionally, one should note that 85 base Atk Close Combat is still stronger than a 105 base SpA Aura Sphere! Now, I've done calcs from 90 base Atk, and I think that I can safely say that CAP 11 is going to run afoul of quite a few defensive threats, no matter which spectrum he chooses. (Focus Blast hits twice slightly less often than not, so it's not reliable.) I think that we're pretty safe in having one Base Speed based counter.

RD's spread was extremely promising and I almost did vote for it, but in the end I'm voting for Jibaku & Zystral.

I voted for Jibaku/Zystral because I think the speed is important.

There appear to be 2 main reasons that people are voting against the high speed: they either think that CAP 11 will be too good alone or will be too good of a partner. I don't think that either of these will be the case, especially with the reduced offenses compared to other spreads.

The partnership is in no way going to be unstoppable. Why do you think people don't use Togekiss? It doesn't accomplish anything defensively; It may be able to tank an odd special attack and power through, but it doesn't really counter much of anything. There are so many things that still take out both of them. They aren't even that complimentary so far.

Anyway, I doubt that decreasing the offenses and increasing the speed is going to suddenly make the duo broken. They will be good, but broken?

I voted for Rising_Dusk's set.

I like his concept of making CAP 11 powerful, but not too powerful. Base 110 speed allows us to get the speed tie on Gengar, which is, as Dusk mentioned, very important. We also lose out to Starmie, but have easy checks to it while it can do little to us, meaning that the extra speed seen in a set like Jibaku/Zystral's isn't as important.

I fear that giving CAP 11 too much speed will make it more widely abused outside of Togekiss teams, so I think Dusk's set is the way to go here.

Okay, not much is going to come out of this. Stat Spread Poll 2 will be coming up soon. Congrats to Rising_Dusk and Jibastryl for moving on!
