Fire Emblem Fates

Oh wow, someone bless this thread!

Anyways, I'm all up for pairing analyses (I remember those from gamefaqs), but I really think that you should include stat growths somewhere in there as they are the most relevant aspect of a pairing for someone who's only interested in beating the main game in a no-grind lunatic run, as well as the pair-up bonuses that each parent provides to one another.

Also, C-Rank for Felicia!Sophie is being far too generous. There's literally nothing good about this pairing other than the small speed pair-up bonus that is given by Felicia to Silas.

Everything else is fine except for Sakura!Sophie. That should drop to C. There isn't enough time to pass down lvl15 skills as you want to get Sophie before chapter 19 ( before the enemies are all promoted ) and Miracle is absolutely useless most of the time on anyone who's not Midori. If anything you might pass down Renewal but that means grinding Sakura, who's staff locked so... uh, yeah that's pretty bad. Furthermore, Silas gets nothing useful out of it and while Sakura does indeed appreciate the defense/attack pair-up bonuses you really shouldn't reduce Silas to a pair-up mule, and specially not for Sakura.

Can we do Nina next? Pretty please?

^ Sure I'll do Nina next.

OK, sticking with Sophie

Hana!Sophie
Mods: +3 Str & Spe, +1 Mag & Res, +4 Skl, -1 Lck, -2 Def
New Classes: Samurai, Swordmaster, Master of Arms
New Skills: Duelists' blow, Vantage, Astra, Swordfaire, Seal Strength, Life and Death
Special Inheritance: Miracle, Rally Luck, Renewal, Countermagic, Rally Magic, Tomefaire
Growths (base class, %): 40 HP, 60 Str, 10 Mag, 60 Skl, 62.5 Spe, 45 Lck, 32.5 Def, 37.5 Res
Pair up Bonus (Swordmaster): +2 Str, +1 Skl, +7 Spe, +3 Lck

Overall a very good pairing. Sophie loses a bit of Defence, although Armoured Blow can remedy that somewhat. Swordfaire is a very useful skill for her as she can use it in all of her final classes. She'll do great in the Samurai line, although as a Swordmaster she faces stiff competition from Ryoma. She's a great Master of Arms as that doesn't waste her Lance rank. Her growths favour skill and speed, and Silas gets a lot of Speed from the pair up.

Kagero!Sophie

Mods: +5 Str, +1 Mag & Res, +2 Skl
New Classes: Ninja, Master Ninja, Mechanist
New Skills: Locktouch, Poison Strike, Lethality, Shurikenfaire, Golembane, Replicate
Special Inheritance: Magic +2, Future Sight, Rally Magic, Tomefaire, Rend Heaven, Quixotic
Growths (base class, %): 42.5 HP, 65 Str, 5 Mag, 47.5 Skl, 60 Spe, 47.5 Lck, 35 Def, 42.5 Res
Pair Up Bonus (Master Ninja): +2 Str, Skl & Res, +5 Spe

Not a particularly good pairing tbh. The Ninja line doesn't hold much for Sophie besides maybe Replicate, and Kagero's not a good Mechanist. She also gives a 0 Speed mod, although luckily her growth is still pretty high. Sophie will hit very hard, but there are plenty of other mothers who can do that. Quixotic could help her activate Luna, Sol and Aegis more often, although you will need to grind Kagero. The Pair Up Bonus is nothing to write home about either.

Oboro!Sophie

Mods: +3 Str, +4 Skl, +2 Spe & Def, -1 Lck & Res
New Classes: Spear Fighter, Spear Master, Basara
New Skills: Seal Defence, Swap, Seal Speed, Lancefaire, Rend Heaven, Quixotic
Special Inheritance: Quick Salve, Potent Potion, Golembane, Replicate, Profiteer, Spendthrift
Growths (base class, %): 42.5 HP, 52.5 Str, 15 Mag, 57.5 Skl, 55 Spe, 52.5 Lck, 42.5 Def, 37.5 Res
Pair Up Bonuses (Spear Master): +4 Str & Skl, +3 Spe, +1 Lck & Def

Good pairing all round. Sophie loves the Spear Fighter Class line, as she can stack Seal Defence and Seal Speed with her signature skill to make sure that any enemy she can't kill will be easy prey for someone else. She can use Lancefaire in 4 out of 6 of her final classes, while Quixotic can boost the activation rate of Aegis, Sol and Luna. Replicate and Spendthrift are decent skills to pass down, although Oboro really struggles as a Mechanist. The mods are decent all round, with only luck and resistance being slightly in the negative. Silas also gets a good combination of speed, strength and skill.

Orochi!Sophie

Mods: +2 Str, +4 Mag, +5 Skl, -1 Spe, Lck & Def, +1 Res
New Classes: Diviner, Onmyoji, Basara
New Skills: Magic +2, Future Sight, Rally Magic, Tomefaire, Rend Heaven, Quixotic
Special Inheritance: Quick Salve, Potent Potion, Golembane, Replicate, Profiteer, Spendthrift
Growths (base class, %): 45 HP, 35 Str, 37.5 Mag, 62.5 Skl, 42.5 Spe, 50 Lck, 35 Def , 45 Res
Pair Up Bonuses (Onmyoji): +6 Mag, +1 Skl, +4 Spe, +2 Res

Eww. Sophie should not try her hand at magic (unless Priestess, maybe), and this pairing wrecks her Speed. More worryingly she's also quite squishy. The only useful skills she can get from this pairing are Replicate and Quixotic, and are you going to drag Orochi through 15 levels of Mechanist? Because I'm not. Silas doesn't even get much from the pair up bonus.

D Rank, as in Don't Do It EVER!

Rinkah!Sophie
Mods: +1 Str, Mag & Skl, +2 Spe, +3 Def
New Classes: Oni Savage, Oni Chieftan, Blacksmith
New Skills: Seal Resistance, Shove, Death Blow, Counter, Salvage Blow, Lancebreaker
Special Inheritance: Locktouch, Poison Strike, Lethality, Shurikenfaire, Golembane, Replicate
Growths (base class, %): 37.5 HP, 45 Str, 12.5 Mag, 62.5 Skl, 57.5 Spe, 50 Lck, 45 Def, 32.5 Res
Pair Up Bonuses (Oni Chieftan): +5 Str, +2 Spe, +4 Def

Better pairing than you might think. The Oni Savage line holds some useful skills for Sophie; Seal Resistance can stack with her signature skill, Death Blow gives her an easier time landing kills while Lancebreaker can help her take down enemy lance users. No negative mods, but no standout ones either apart from Defence. She can be a good tank with Aegis and Sol. Rinkah can pass down a ninja skill, but she is a terrible ninja. Silas gets a great strength and defence boost. A decent pairing, but nothing spectacular.

Setsuna!Sophie

Mods: +2 Str, +1 Mag, +4 Skl & Spe, -1 Lck & Res
New Classes: Archer, Sniper, Kinshi Knight
New Skills: Skill +2, Quick Draw, Certain Blow, Bowfaire, Air Superiority, Amaterasu
Special Inheritance: Locktouch, Poison Strike, Lethality, Shurikenfaire, Golembane, Replicate
Growths (base class, %): 42.5 HP, Str & Res, 5 Mag, 52.5 Skl, 65 Spe, 47.5 Lck, 30 Def
Pair Up Bonuses (Sniper): +2 Str, +4 Skl, +6 Spe, +1 Res

Pretty good pairing. Certain Blow means she can use less accurate weapons, while she can use Bowfaire as a Bow Knight, Sniper or Kinshi Knight. The mods are pretty good, with good strength and great speed and skill. Resistance takes a slight hit, but Aegis can help with that. If you wanted to give Sophie Replicate, Setsuna is probably the mother (besides Corrin) who could do best in the Mechanist class as she's already good with bows. Stat growths play to Sophie's strengths, and Silas gets good bonuses too.

B Rank

Phew, that's the Birthright pairings for Sophie done. Will do Conquest later.

Hana!Sophie — Now we're talking. Hana gives Silas a lot of speed, which he appreciates and in return Silas can buff her absolutely abysmal bulk so she can, maybe, survive at least one hit if push comes to shove. Hana has no business in the Cavalier line but Silas could try his hand as a Samurai for a couple of levels as to grab Duelist Blow and Vantage. Sophie gets high Str, Spe and Skl which means she's gonna be proc'ing skills and killing things like crazy. Her defense takes a blow though, so you gotta play smart with her positioning and avoid using her as bait. S

Kagero!Sophie — Pretty Similar to Hana x Silas; Silas gets the speed he needs but Kagero hardly gets anything in return as she's already bulky and strong enough. This Sophie also turns out pretty similar to Hana!Sophie, but she gains access to Master Ninja which is one of the best classes in the game alongside Cavalier, period. Idk, it's a toss-up between the two, but this pairing isn't really benefiting one of the parents (Kagero) so I'm giving it a A.

Oboro!Sophie -- eh, pretty mediocre if you ask me. This pairing exists solely for Sophie's benefit as neither Silas nor Oboro get anything they'd like out of it. Sophie turns out pretty pretty balanced all-around plus access to Lancefaire, which is nice. Nothing exceptional about it, though. B

Orochi!Sophie -- lol nope. D-

Rinkah!Sophie -- Pretty much the same as Oboro... but worse. Sophie gets some sturdy backbone but her strenght takes a hit and her hp even more so, which is generally not worth the extra defense and resistance. Moreover, Silas doesn't get anything out of it and neither does Rinka save for a substancial attack pair-up bonus provided by Silas. C

Setsuna!Sophie -- I've never actually tried this one out and I can kind of see why; Setsuna is basically the poor man's Hana, Hinoka and Azura. She gives similar growths and mods, but can't pass down anything Sophie would like to have. Certain Blow isn't nescessary since Sophie as a cavalier won't be missing enough to the point you'd need to waste a skillslot with it, and Bowfaire... yeah you get the point. Silas & Setsuna's pair-up bonuses mesh-up together really well, however. A

my favorite unit is Azura!Selkie with the abilties Luck plus 4, playthings, grisly wound, redn heaven, renewl, and venter intution. i call her the speed tank
