Chien-Pao is an incredibly powerful breaker, able to ko almost anything in the metagame within 3 attacks. Chien-Pao often uses both Ice Shard and Sucker Punch, as its fantastic stab combination leaves little to be desired in terms of coverage, but Sacred Sword can be slotted over Sucker Punch in order to hit pokemon like Zamazenta-Crowned, Terapagos, Arceus-Dark and Magearna for extra damage. Tera Dark boosts Crunch and Sucker Punch to catastrophic levels of damage, allowing Chien-Pao to accomplish feats like one-shotting pokemon like Palkia-Origin, Chi-Yu, and Landorus-I after Stealth Rocks. Chien-Pao hates pokemon like Magearna, Zamazenta-C, and Zacian, as they resist it’s powerful stab moves and can hit it for super-effective damage, as such, pairing teammates like Mewtwo, Landorus-T, and Arceus-Poison make excellent partners, able to threaten out these Pokemon. Chien-Pao matches up well into bulky Pokemon like Giratina, Landorus-T, and Arceus formes, so teammates who appreciate these threats being removed, like Mewtwo, Arceus-Grass, and Zamazenta-C are strong picks. Banded Chien-Pao loathes entry hazards, so entry hazard removal like Giratina, Terapagos, and Great Tusk help Chien-Pao get on the field as many times as possible.
