With a beefy defensive statline of 130/85/80, incredible defensive abilities like Poison Heal and Intimidate, all backed by a cool defensive typing (Fairy/Dark), Granbull is another on the list of strong defensive options being added to fuel the many defensive cores of the metagame. It also finally added a Spikes setter which may become extremely useful later on.

Granbull racks up Spikes versus the majority of threats in the metagame and can outlast or cripple removal like Armaldo (bad) and Moltres with Knock Off and Toxic. Parting Shot gives it te abiity to grab momentum as well as weaken breakers for the switvhins. Switcheroo can potentially act as a great means of bullying opposing walls by stealing teir Lefties to stack with . Its HP is big enough to spec into PhysDef or SpD viably well, but metagame pressures make PhysDef more ideal.

Granbull opts to be a set up sweeper instead of a pivot here, and can snowball very quicky as a serious threat that shouldnbe taken lightly if your team lacks suitable counterplay (G-Weezing), as it can quickly overwhelm squads that can't deal with t appropriately. Unaware Camerupt can be a suitable check but Substitute and potential Toxics might give it trouble. Safest bet is to back its current best hard counter in GWeez, since Granbull can do little to stop any variant of it.
