Positives:
Huge base 145 special attack, which allows it to pick up many KO's fairly easily.
Speaking of which, it even has Nasty Plot to boost that special attack even further.
While it no longer has a way to hit Ground-types due to the removal of Hidden Power, it still retains access to Focus Blast, which enables it to hit Steel-types.
Volt Absorb also makes it a decent check to Regieleki as well despite its low defenses.
Negatives:
The removal of Hidden Power has left it with no way to hit Ground-types, particularly Landorus-Therian, for super effective damage.
The removal of Z-moves also hit it hard as well, as it no longer has a way to reliably bypass Special walls.
101 speed, while good, leaves a lot to be desired, as it's outsped by common threats such as Cinderace and Spectrier
Also relatively frail as well; 79/70/80 defenses aren't the greatest in the world and leave it relatively easy to KO before it can set up.
As a result of all of these flaws, this faces a lot of competition from other Electric-types such as Tapu Koko.

What are my final thoughts on Thundurus-Therian?:
Thundurus-Therian this gen has became nothing more than a far cry from its original viability. While it was always worse than the base form due to the lowered speed tier, this gen has not been kind to it at all. The removal of Hidden Power now leaves it walled by Landorus-Therian, even with Grass Knot, and the loss of Z-moves have removed its only option to get past special walls. While it was always worse than the base form, this gen has hurt both forms' viability in OU, to the point where I can't even consider them usable in OU. But who knows, maybe Thundurus-Therian and its base form might find new life in UU.

Potential Sets:
Thundurus-Therian @ Heavy Duty Boots / Life Orb
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Agility / Psychic / Dark Pulse
Yeah. Thundurus-Therian's probably still going to use the same set it's always used - a Nasty Plot sweeper that can also use Agility to boost its speed or Psychic to hit shit like Amoonguss and Lando-T. Sadly with the loss of Hidden Power and Z-moves this set may become much less effective in OU. But who knows, this might find viability in UU.

Weather Ball in the Rain might let it have a niche on rain teams, as well as being a good Zapdos answer (since Zapdos will see loads of play). A fatter Nasty Plot set might work.

I think Psychic is probably close to mandatory on this thing so that you can circumvent Amoonguss+not be a sitting duck versus max HP Lando-T. Best set for NP+3 is probably NP+Thunderbolt+Psychic+Focus Blast. Grass Knot doesn’t really hit much of anything, as PhysDef Hippo is OHKOed by +2 Focus Blast/dies to Psychic 50% of the time after Stealth Rock anyway. +2 Psychic just mauls Lando lol.

Something interesting that Thundurus-T offers for rain over Zapdos (other than raw firepower on Thunder) is an Electric immunity that can’t be teched by that weird Ring Target gimmick, which could be useful for fighting Regieleki until new toy/funny gimmick stuff wears off. Weather Ball seems sorta nice but I’m skeptical of how useful it is beyond one shotting Lando at +0 and accurately targeting non-Sand Rush drill (bc in sand it’s a Rock-type move), especially considering. I feel like Psychic+Focus Blast is more useful coverage for rain teams as it breaks Ferro and Amoong.

Edit: Dark Pulse may be nice on Agility sets for Lati@s and Dragapult.

This mon is still awesome. ThundyT is an excellent rain mon with NP + Weatherball and it’s ability to block Regileki. Also, please use Heavy Duty Boots. It has a decent speed tier and can live pretty much any neutral hit if its life bar is full. It’s a darn good check to Hawlucha.

Thundy-t is so fun to use, it's power and utility in volt absorb and power in rain teams and also with a personal double dance set I been using

(Thundurus-Therian) (M) @ Life Orb / Heavy Duty Boots / Expert Belt
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Agility
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Sludge Wave / Sludge Bomb / Focus blast / Psychic/ Weather ball.

Agility + NP allows it to boost it's speed and increase it's firepower to further heights, but the setup time might be a bit longer then what you'll like.

Thunderbolt is it's Stab move, allowing it to deal damage on pokemon switching in and allows it to keep it's set up moves hidden to mid/ late game, setting up is made much easier with it's volt absorb, allowing it to take thunder waves or volt switches from koko, rotom, mag, ultimately cutting the foe's momentum, it's coverage is very team dependant and depends.

Sludge wave hits tapu's, clefable, and isn't walled unlike Sludge bomb, why Sludge bomb is even an option Is just because of it's increased Poison chance and poisoning a wall on the switch could be a game changer, Focus blast allows it to not be walled by Common bulky heatrans,Urishifu-S, Mage, which is better in dealing damage towards them then thunderbolt without serious nasty plot set up.

Psychic allows it to hit amoongus and the sp.def drops might help in dealing damage, lastly weather ball is an option for rain teams but it's a double edge sword in some sorta ways.

Anyways I hope my set helps in a sorta way, im pretty bad at explaining stuff but I Hope it helps : )
