PU Trevenant (mini)

-PUTL -mz

[OVERVIEW]

Trevenant is outclassed in many ways by offensive Grass-types such as Leafeon and Alolan Exeggutor, Ghost-types like Golurk, and Gourgeist-XL in any defensive sets due to Gourgeist-XL's far better defenses and reliable recovery. Trevenant's competition as an attacker all have notable qualities over it such as a better Speed tier and Swords Dance, a superior secondary typing, or Stealth Rock, respectively. Even with Trevenant’s access to Natural Cure and Trick, it is not enough to warrant its usage, especially when it's pressured by Pursuit more than its competition.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Wood Hammer
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Rock Slide
move 4: Shadow Claw / Trick
item: Choice Band
ability: Natural Cure
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Choice Band Trevenant can function as a breaker with passable coverage that can also spinblock. Natural Cure and Trick are still some features it has over its competition with status absorption and the ability to cripple a wall. However, Trevenant remains notably outdone by Alolan Exeggutor as a slow Grass-type wallbreaker due to Trevenant's inferior typing and power, and also Golurk, which offers better utility in Stealth Rock and better coverage in Stone Edge and Ice Punch.

[OVERVIEW]
Trevenant is unfortunately a poor choice due to being largly outclassed by Gourgeist in any defensive roles, and by Alolan Exeggutor and Leafeon as an offensive Grass-type. Gourgeist has far better defenses and reliable recovery, while other offensive Grass-types wield better typings or a higher Speed stat. Trevenant does have something unique in Natural Cure and a Ghost-type as a breaker, but it’s no where near enough to warrant its use over other Grass-types.(also competition from stuff like golurk as a ghost mon)(also susceptible to pursuit)

However, Trevenant remains outdone by notably Alolan Exeggutor as a slow Grass-type wallbreaker due to inferior typing and power(this makes it sound like eggy is the one with inferior typing and power)(also mention golurk or whatever here too).

Trevenant's competition as an attacker all have notable qualities over it such as a better speed tier (swords dance too in leafeon's case), superior secondary typing, or Stealth Rock respectively.
