UK Pokémon Tournament: Reading [19th February 2011]

After hosting four hugely successful Pokémon Tournaments, gamerbase are once again teaming up with PokémonWorld and PokéCharms to bring you another exciting Pokémon Tournament, this time in Reading! Compete against other trainers in battles showcased on our stunning large screen HD televisions in order to win some fabulous prizes.

Pokefans came from across the UK and beyond to attend our previous Manchester and London Tournaments, where Havak, Akiratron, Minijinx and Tortipouss earned themselves the title of Pokémon Champion. But, when the Pokemon Tournaments come to Reading who will emerge victorious and walk away with the fantastic top prize of a DSi XL and an English copy of Pokémon Black or White?

Players who sign up and reserve a place above will be given priority over players who haven't. If more than 64 players sign up for the tournament online, places will be given on a first come first served basis on the day from whoever turns up. Reserved places will be lost if you haven't registered in gamerbase on the day before 11:00am - at which point any attendee who didn't sign up online may be able to take one of said places.

  • Each player must enter 4-6 different Pokémon on his or her Team Information Sheet. See the Ineligible Pokémon list below for more information on which Pokémon are eligible for the tournament.
  • Each player must enter 0-6 different held items on his or her Team Information Sheet.
  • Players may only use Pokémon and held items listed on their Team Information Sheet during the tournament.
  • The Pokémon and held items listed on a player's Team Information Sheet may not be changed once the player has registered for the event.
  • Players may change which held item a Pokémon is using between matches, so long as both the Pokémon and the held item are listed on the player's Team Information Sheet.
  • If you are unable to print and complete the Team Information Sheet in advance, some will be available for you to fill out on the day, provided that you arrive between 9:00am and 11:00am.

TEAM INFO SHEET

Your team may not contain any of the following Pokémon:

Please note that the additional Rotom and Shaymin Formes introduced in Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, and Pokémon SoulSilver versions are not compatible with Pokémon Battle Revolution, and thus are not usable in the Tournament.

  • Battles will be contested under Double Battle Rules, meaning each player will send out two (2) Pokémon to battle at a time.
  • Both players will select four (4) Pokémon to use in each battle.
  • All Pokémon will be automatically set to level 50 for the battle.
  • Each Pokémon retains all of the moves that it knew before being auto-levelled.
  • Pokémon that evolve after level 50 do not devolve when auto-levelled and Pokémon that evolve before level 50 that haven't had their level raised enough will not evolve when auto-levelled.
  • The Pokémon’s stats are adjusted to what its level 50 stats would be.
  • A player’s team may not contain two Pokémon with the same National Pokédex number.
  • Each Pokémon on a player’s team may use held items, though two Pokémon may not hold the same item during battle. Allowed items include held items from Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver versions as well as held items from earlier video games, including Berries 1–64. The Soul Dew item may not be used.
  • If a player uses the moves Explosion or SelfDestruct to force a tie, the user of that move is declared as the loser.
  • If a player's final Pokémon uses the moves Perish Song or Destiny Bond, the move will fail.
  • Players may not enter two or more Pokémon with the same nickname.
  • Players may not enter a Pokémon nicknamed with the name of another Pokémon character (for example, a Lucario nicknamed "Spiritomb").

[Time Limit]

  • Players are given a time limit of 10 minutes per match, though this will be extended for the latter stages.
  • If the time limit expires, the game will decide the winner of the battle depending on number of remaining Pokémon (or remaining HP if there is a tie).
  • Players are given 60 seconds to decide their moves, though this will be extended for the latter stages.
  • If you fail to select your moves before the 60 second time limt, the game will pick one of your moves at random and target a random opponent.
  • If the overall match time limit expires while players are selecting their moves, the last turn of the game will still occur.

[Move Restrictions]

Pokémon may only use moves (including those learned in an earlier video game) that have been learned through one of the following methods:

  • By levelling up.
  • By TM or HM.
  • As an Egg move, through breeding.
  • From a Move Tutor.
  • Already learned by a Pokémon that was received at an official Pokémon event or promotion.
  • Already learned by a Pokémon that was received from another Pokémon game (such as the Pikachu that knows Surf from Pokémon Battle Revolution).
  • By Smeargle's "Sketch" move (limited to the above moves learned by Pokémon from 001 to 493).

By entering, you agree to refrain from using any external devices to alter your Pokémon's statistics to gain an unfair advantage. Any Pokémon found to be obtained through illegal means, or detected by Pokémon Battle Revolution's means of checking for illegal Pokémon may be disqualified and not given a refund, regardless of whether the player tampered with his or her game or received a Pokémon or item that was tampered with by someone other than the player. It is the player's responsibility to have legal Pokémon. Event officials have the final determination regarding the legality of a Pokémon. R4 Cartridges are forbidden from use. They will NOT connect to Pokémon Battle Revolution. Any entrant found guilty of improper conduct, bad sportsmanship, or violence towards other people at the event will be removed from the venue and not given a refund.

There are no age divisions or restrictions for the event. We apologise in advance to any parents that bring children along whom get paired with someone much older in the tournament. There will be a somewhat strict timeline we need to stick to and the number of competitors may not be suited to a tournament with age brackets.

There are not many legitimate ways in order to obtain this pokemon in comparison to the other unbanned pokemon.
