Flamethrower Talonflame is actually a viable option since it still KOs/2HKOs a lot of the Steel types that resist Brave Bird but without recoil.

Flare Blitz is still preferred. I don't see why I should play Flamethrower over Flare Blitz, the recoil is one thing but it has priority roost.. so.
Yeah but if you're killing the same stuff in the same number of hits…why bother with the recoil? What advantage does Flare Blitz have?

4 SpA Slowbro Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Blade: 272-322 (83.9 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Slowbro can tank the most powerful hit that aegislash can throw at it with minimal investment and assault vest, and retaliate with fire blast, KOing a weakened aegislash, which will be in its frail blade forme. Slowbro can then switch out and regen the damage.
Maybe this is not the best example to show its utility, but in my opinion Fire Blast is a good move on the assault vest set, it is decently powerful and adds nice coverage

I always like to say that no fully evolved Pokemon is completely unviable in OU. Well, except things with BST 350 or thereabouts, like flippin' Ledian.

Just saw a Zen Mode Darmanitan with sub & belly drum. I can appreciate the effort.
No attacking moves Cresselia with Calm Mind, Gravity, Magic Room, and Light Screen.
Spa increasing berry on what looked like a dialga with only physical moves apart from said dragonbreath. T.T

Featuring:
-Circle Throw Lucario, which used that and Blaze Kick on a Crocune that was the only member of it's team
-Special Escavalier with Double-Edge
-Strength Lando-T
-Special Gyarados with Aguav Berry
-Not sending out your Thundurus-T against a Crocune
Not to mention that guessing by the damage done, my opponent's pokemon didn't have any EVs.
