[OVERVIEW]

Deoxys-D's great overall bulk allows it to stay alive for as many turns as possible while also getting up as many entry hazards as possible. With its fantastic bulk comes an equally fantastic movepool sporting the likes of Stealth Rock, Knock Off, and Spikes, all of which provide residual damage on the opposing team. It also has a niche over its other forme Deoxys-S because it can lay down more layers of hazards. Though Deoxys-D does have some great positives, it has very little offensive presence besides access to Knock Off, making it pretty easy to set up on. It's also susceptible to Taunt users such as Deoxys-S and Gengar. Lastly, its typing is not that useful, as a large portion of the metagame can hit it for super effective damage.

name: Hazard Setter
move 1: Spikes
move 2: Stealth Rock

move 4: Knock Off / Skill Swap
item: Red Card / Leftovers
ability: Mold Breaker / Prankster
nature: Jolly
evs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Spikes and Stealth Rock support the team by wearing down foes upon them switching in. Taunt is used to prevent slower Defoggers such as Mandibuzz, Zapdos, and Skarmory from using Defog. It's also used to prevent slower setup sweepers such as Suicune and Snorlax from taking advantage of Deoxys-D's low offensive presence, as well as to prevent opposing entry hazards from going up and even to stop slower Taunt users. Knock Off removes beneficial items such as Leftovers and Choice items. Skill Swap can be used in conjunction with Prankster, as it allows Deoxys-D to get past many Magic Bounce users such as Chansey and Zapdos.

Set Details
========

Red Card phazes setup sweepers once they hit Deoxys-D. Leftovers is an option over Red Card to allow Deoxys-D to gain passive recovery while laying down entry hazards. Mold Breaker lets it lay down hazards without fear of Magic Bounce users such as Chansey and Zapdos bouncing them back. Prankster is an option over Mold Breaker to gain priority on hazards and other moves like Taunt, but it's usually not recommended given the prevalence of Magic Bounce Pokemon looking to bounce back hazards. Maximum HP and Speed investment and a Jolly nature allow Deoxys-D to get as many as hazards up as possible while being as bulky as possible. Maximum HP and Defense investment with a Bold nature should be used with Prankster, though, as it allows Deoxys-D to survive longer in the more physically oriented AAA metagame. Alternatively, you could run a more specially defensive EV spread to take on a plethora of special attackers in the metagame.

Usage Tips
========

Try to get as many entry hazards up as you can early-game to support Deoxys-D's teammates. Taunt slower Defoggers or entry hazard setters such as Skarmory, Mandibuzz, and Ferrothorn. If you are running Prankster, try to use Skill Swap against potential Magic Bounce users, as if you don't, your own hazards will be bounced back. With Deoxys-D's high defenses, you can also pivot it into weaker attackers to get more hazards up later in the game.

Team Options
========

Ghost-types like Gengar, Doublade, and Aegislash, make for good teammates with Deoxys-D because they keep its entry hazards up against teams with spinners. Rapid Spin users such as Tentacruel and Blastoise can remove opponents' hazards without removing your own. Defiant and Competitive users such as Metagross and Ampharos take advantage of opposing Defoggers, increasing their Attack and Special Attack stats, respectively. Sweepers and cleaners such as Lucario, Honchkrow, and Staraptor really appreciate the hazard support when going for a late-game clean or sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Unaware and Poison Heal sets are options if Deoxys-D needs to fill the role of a long-term entry hazard setter, but these are susceptible to Magic Bounce users and also struggle to carve a niche that Cresselia already covers really well. Magic Bounce is useful if an opponent is trying to get hazards up while Deoxys-D needs hazards of its own up. Thunder Wave is an option to cripple setup sweepers trying to set up with ease on Deoxys-D. Regenerator can allow it to keep hazards up throughout the game. Any kind of offensive set would be outclassed by other Psychic-types such as Latios and Mew.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Taunt Users**: Taunt users such as Deoxys-S and Mew can easily shut down Deoxys-D completely by eliminating its role as an entry hazard setter.

**Opposing Setup Sweepers**: Opposing setup sweepers can take advantage of Deoxys-D's low attacking stats and put a relatively large dent in the team.

**Priority Defog Users**: Priority Defog users such as Skarmory and Mandibuzz can completely counter Deoxys-D's role by getting rid of entry hazards with ease. However, if Deoxys-D is running Prankster and Taunt, it beats these foes.

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types such as Gengar and Aegislash threaten Deoxys-D with super effective attacks, though they are susceptible to Knock Off.

**Dark-types**: Dark-types such as Honchkrow and Tyranitar can easily come in on Deoxys-D and threaten it.

[OVERVIEW]
  • mention its niche over deoxys S is that it can set multiple layers of hazards where S only manages to get 1 spike and 1 sr if not less
[SET]
  • im not a fan of the EV's tbh..even with prankster id consider speed over defense. deoxys likes the bulk...but id like another QC to agree or disagree before asking for this. as i alone can't decide on this sorry for the bold and font size...but i need them to notice it.
  • slash red card over leftovers, its a suicide lead, and it really prefers the effect red card does(phasing out setup sweepers) over slight healing.
  • slash unaware. suits red cards effect so that you can effectively get up more hazards vs setup sweepers who try to +6 on it.
  • slash skill swap over knock off, to potentially get past magic bounce if your not mold breaker.
  • for teammates, deoxys D appriciates defiant mons, as defog is even harder to stop now that it potentially gains priority. mega metagross is perhaps one of the best defiant mons in the meta. and resists priority to boot. which is a huge thorn to HO.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
  • add unaware to regenerator and poison heal and remove regenerator(defensive regen is bad in this metagame). but mention that they all also struggle to carve a niche cresselia doesn't already do better.
Checks and Counters
===================
  • gale wings skarmory heavily beats hyper offense. and has priority defog to remove your hazards. it basically checks your entire strategy.
  • anything with setup can laugh at deoxys defenses attempts to setup hazards once red card is burned and effectively clean through your team turn 1 if your not careful.
otherwise, QC 1/3 approved.

Speed should be run on mold breaker, but I prefer bulk on prankster sets. Even so Lcass4919 is right that speed should be considered, thus a second set may be necessary.
Disagree with unaware on the main set, however. If its running red card, who cares if the opponent sets up? It will just be forced out once it attacks. Yeah it will take deo down, but thats the point of a suicide lead.

For the QC:
Magic Bounce is gross, just run taunt.
Needs red card, probably preferred as a lead.
Mention defiant megagross/TTar in team options
Split sweepers into physical and special categories, be specific with ability options for the teammates
You made a suicide lead set, it doesn't really care about defensive synergy. Remove that.
Having your own rapid spinners is important for removing hazards without getting rid of your own.
Magic bounce is a definite for other options, unaware is also decent.
Cover the rest of what Lcass said.

After implemented: 2/3

Written and ready for 3rd QC, I didn't add a second set since it was more just a optional EV spread more than anything, so i just put it into Set Details.

It's also susceptible to Taunt users such as its other forme, Deoxys-S and others like Gengar. Lastly, its also weak to forms of status such as poison and burn, weakening its effectiveness as a wall. idt you need to mention it being weak to status such as burn / poison as its usually just going to be getting up hazards and status like that doesn't prevent it from doing its job. idk but something about this overview feels a bit off, i feel like there should be more emphasis on its kind of meh defensive typing,

Moves
========

Spikes and Stealth Rock are Deoxys-D's hazards of choice to set, as they support the team even further by wearing down opponents upon switchin. Taunt is used to prevent slower Defoggers such as Mandibuzz, Zapdos, or Skarmory from Defogging. It's also used to prevent slower set up sweepers such as Suicune and Snorlax from taking advantage of Deoxys-D's low offensive presence. mention it can also prevent hazards from other setters, and even slower taunters :o Knock Off is Deoxys-D's offensive move of choice, as it removes opponents' beneficial items such as Leftovers or Choiced items. Skill Swap can be used in conjunction with Prankster as it allows Deoxys-D to get past many Magic Bounce users. mention a few magic bounce users here

Set Details
========

Red Card is Deoxys-D's item of choice as it helps phaze out set-up sweepers once they hit Deoxys-D. Leftovers is an option over Red Card as it allows Deoxys-D to gain passive recovery while continuously laying down hazards. Mold Breaker is Deoxys-D's ability of choice as it lets it continue to lay down hazards without fear of Magic Bounce users bouncing them back. Prankster is an option over Mold Breaker to gain priority hazards and other moves like Taunt, but it's usually not recommended as there's an influx of Magic Bounce Pokemon looking to bounce back hazards. mention a few magic bounce users here as well Max HP and Speed investment and a Jolly nature with Mold Breaker allow Deoxys-D to get as much as hazards up as possible while being as bulky as possible. Max HP and Defense investment with a Bold nature should be used on the Prankster set as it allows Deoxys-D to survive longer in a more physically-oriented AAA metagame. Alternatively you could run a more Specially Defensive oriented set to take on a plethora of Special Attackers in the metagame

Usage Tips
========

Try to get as many hazards up as you can early game to help support teammates. Taunt slower Defoggers or entry hazard setters such as Skarmory, Mandibuzz, and Ferrothorn. If you are running Prankster, try to Skill Swap potential Magic Bounce users, as if you don't, your own hazards will be bounced back. mention that it can also be pivoted into on weaker attackers in order to get hazards back up, and to be careful against set up sweepers if its running leftovers / not prankster taunt

Team Options
========

Rapin Spin blockers, or Ghost-types like Gengar, Doublade, and Aegislash make for good teammates with Deoxys-D as they keep hazards up against teams with Rapid Spinners. Rapid Spinners such as Tentacruel and Blastoise can be useful as they can remove opponents' hazards without removing your own. Defiant and Competitive users such as Metagross and Ampharos appreciate opponents wanting to Defog, thus increasing their Attack and Special Attack stats respectively. Sweepers and Cleaners such as Lucario, Honchkrow, and Staraptor really appreciate the hazard support when going for a late-game clean or sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Unaware or Poison Heal set are options if Deoxys-D needs to fill the role of a long-term hazard setter, but these are is susceptible to Magic Bounce users and also struggle to carve a niche that Cresselia already covers really well. Magic Bounce is an option if an opponent is also trying to get hazards up while Deoxys-D is trying to get hazards up of its own. Thunder Wave is an option to cripple set-up sweepers trying to set-up with ease on a passive Deoxys-D. i think regen is an option to consider here, as with regenerator you fit the needs of a team that wants hazards up, but also wants a something to pivot into and w/ regen deo can fit that roll so i think it should have a mention. also say that any kind of offensive set is outclassed by other psychic types in the tier, and even set up sets are outclassed by things like cresselia.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Priority Defog Users**: Priority Defog users such as Skarmory and Mandibuzz can completely counter Deoxys-D's role by getting rid of hazards with ease. mention that they can't beat prankster taunt though, so i would actually reorder C&C to be: Taunt -> Set Up Sweepers -> Dark Types -> Defog -> Ghost Types, but you can probably play around w/ the order of the last 3

**Opposing Set Up Sweepers**: Opposing set up sweepers can take advantage of Deoxys-D's lowly attack stats and put a relatively large dent in the team.

**Taunt**: Taunters such as Deoxys-S and Mew can easily shut down Deoxys-D completely by eliminating its role as a hazard setter. Though it can be bounced back if Deoxys-D is running Magic Coat. remove the mention of magic coat, there is no mention of it on the set so you shouldn't mention it here

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types such as Gengar and Aegislash threaten Deoxys-D with super-effective attacks, though they are susceptible to Knock Off.

**Dark-types**: Dark-types such as Honchkrow and Tyranitar can easily come in on Deoxys-D and threaten it.

Red Card phazes setup sweepers once they hit Deoxys-D. Leftovers is an option over Red Card to allow Deoxys-D to gain passive recovery while laying down entry hazards. Mold Breaker lets it lay down hazards without fear of Magic Bounce users like such as Chansey and Zapdos bouncing them back. If you are running Prankster, try to use Skill Swap against potential Magic Bounce users, as if you don't, your own hazards will be bounced back. With Deoxys-D's high defenses, you can also pivot it into weaker attackers to get more hazards up later in the game.

Team Options
========

Spinblockers, or (unnecessary imo b/c you touch up on it later on) Ghost-types like Gengar, Doublade, and Aegislash, make for good teammates with Deoxys-D because they keep its entry hazards up against teams with spinners.

Other Options
=============

Thunder Wave is an option to cripple setup sweepers trying to set up with ease on a the (isn't it always passive?) passive Deoxys-D. Regenerator can allow it to keep hazards up throughout the game. Any kind of offensive set would be outclassed by other Psychic-types such as Latios and Mew.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Taunt Users**: Taunt users such as Deoxys-S and Mew can easily shut down Deoxys-D completely by eliminating its role as an entry hazard setter.

**Opposing Setup Sweepers**: Opposing setup sweepers can take advantage of Deoxys-D's lowly attacking stats and put a relatively large dent in the team.
