Adapting Ika's analysis of Dracozolt for the new format, writing credits should also go to him.

[SET]
name: Weakness Policy
move 1: Bolt Beak
move 2: Outrage / Dragon Claw
move 3: Aerial Ace
move 4: Fire Fang / Flamethrower / Earthquake
item: Weakness Policy
ability: Hustle
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 36 Def / 4 SpD / 132 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Dracozolt is a powerful physical wallbreaker that can use Bolt Beak alongside useful coverage options to beat a variety of threats, including walls such as Lapras and Corviknight. The Weakness Policy set takes advantage of the item's boosts and Max Airstream in order to sweep.

* Outrage provides a significantly higher base damage than Dragon Claw and a slight damage increase when Dynamaxed. However, it does lock Dracozolt, which can be bad against Fairy spam teams after Dynamax has ended, whereas Dragon Claw does not.

* Aerial Ace provides a Speed boost when Dynamaxed with Max Airstream, and its perfect accuracy synergizes with Hustle.

* Fire Fang or Flamethrower gives Dracozolt Fire coverage, the latter of which KOes Ferrothorn without making contact at +2.

* Earthquake is an alternative coverage option that allows Dracozolt to augment its Special Defense with Max Quake, which can be helpful against Lapras and Gastrodon to safely activate Weakness Policy.

EV Spreads
=========

* 252 HP / 84 Atk / 36 Def / 4 SpD / 132 Spe with an Adamant Nature: With this spread, Dracozolt can take a Play Rough from Life Orb Jolly Mimikyu and outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon after a Max Airstream boost.

* 236 HP / 76 Atk / 4 SpD / 188 Spe with an Adamant Nature: The given Speed EVs allow Dracozolt to outspeed up to Jolly Durant after a Max Airstream boost.

Specific Team Options
==============

Weakness Policy Dracozolt benefits from entry hazards and other support leads to help assist its sweep.

* Entry Hazard Support: :hippowdon: :tyranitar: :excadrill:

* Other Support: :grimmsnarl: :whimsicott:

[SET]
name: Offensive Hustle
move 1: Bolt Beak
move 2: Dragon Claw / Outrage
move 3: Aerial Ace / Earthquake
move 4: Earthquake / Fire Fang / Low Kick
item: Choice Scarf / Focus Sash / Life Orb / Choice Band
ability: Hustle
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* This set is a more offensive take on Dracozolt, using Hustle to boost up its Bolt Beak power to absurd levels while reducing Dracozolt's dependency on Dynamax.

* On these sets, the choice between Dragon Claw and Outrage is fluid, since Dracozolt is less likely to Dynamax, and dependent on the team composition.

* Aerial Ace can also be used to gain access to Max Airstream when Dynamaxed but can be forgone if you have other available Pokemon that better utilize Dynamax.

* Earthquake hits Excadrill hardest, OHKOing it outside of Dynamax, and boosts Special Defense when using Max Quake.

* Fire Fang is another option that allows Dracozolt to OHKO Ferrothorn after minimal chip damage if Dracozolt has Life Orb. Choice Band boosted Fire Fang can immediately OHKO without chip damage, however.

* Low Kick is an alternative that OHKOes Tyranitar and can provide Max Knuckle Attack boosts while Dracozolt is Dynamaxed.

* Choice Scarf allows Dracozolt to more often get double-Base Power Bolt Beak.

* Alternatively, Focus Sash guarantees Dracozolt can get off attacks and trade more efficiently against foes.

* Life Orb and Choice Band may also be opted for to allow Dracozolt to hit slower opponents even harder, punishing slow defensive builds.

* A Jolly nature with maximum Speed is preferred to make Bolt Beak hit with doubled power versus the most number of targets.

[SET]
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Bolt Beak
move 2: Dragon Claw / Outrage
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Fire Fang / Low Kick
item: Assault Vest
ability: Volt Absorb / Hustle
nature: Adamant
evs: 76 HP / 252 Atk / 76 SpD / 100 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Dracozolt's unique defensive typing and decent bulk allow it to become a decent Assault Vest user, specializing in taking on Rotom-A while still pressuring Corviknight and Gyarados.

* Bolt Beak hits incredibly hard and has 100% accuracy with Volt Absorb, but it can be used with Hustle for higher damage output.

* Dragon Claw or Outrage hits Hydreigon and Dragapult, while Earthquake can be used against Aegislash, Excadrill, and Arcanine, hits Excadrill hardest, and boosts Special Defense when using Max Quake.

* Fire Fang allows Dracozolt to 2HKO Ferrothorn with Hustle or, with some chip damage, with Volt Absorb.

* Alternatively, Low Kick is primarily used to KO Tyranitar and can also be used to hit Ferrothorn for modest damage.

* Avoid using Dynamax if Dracozolt is running Volt Absorb, as its damage output is relatively meager in comparison to Hustle sets. Instead, use it as a support for other Dynamax sweepers, such as Corviknight.

* The given EVs allow Dracozolt to outspeed 4 Speed EVs Rotom-A and survive most rolls of Dragapult's Draco Meteor.

General Team Options
==============

Dracozolt appreciates checks to Ground-types, such as Hippowdon and Excadrill. It also pairs well with Pokemon that cannot effectively beat the Rotom formes.

* Ground-type Checks: :corviknight: :lapras: :gastrodon: :gyarados: :seismitoad: :darmanitan-galar:

* Pokemon Checked by Rotom-A: :corviknight: :togekiss: :aegislash: :hippowdon:

How do you feel about Lum Berry as an item choice on the Offensive set? It protects you from the various Scald users that Zolt likes to switch in on and also WoW from Rotoms (This only occurs with some prediction from the Rotom user so maybe is not as relevant. Perhaps Yawn Lax is a better example since you are no longer need to Dynamax and set electric terrain to break the Yawn cycle).

There are already a lot of items listed for that set and adding another would be too much clutter. I have never used or seen Focus Sash on Dracozolt so I cannot say much. It seems like its main use is to guarantee you can fire off Bolt Beaks to take a big chunk out of the opposing team and lure Excadrill? That is pretty neat.

Choice Scarf and Life Orb feel like the more important items compared to the other two with Choice Scarf being the best item and Life Orb being a hotly contested item that is also effectively used by Mimikyu, Gyarados etc. Choice Band seems more niche on Dracozolt and most would rather use CB Darmanitan or CB Dracovish? I'll admit I have not used CB Zolt either.

Finally the Fire Fang description on the Assault Vest should be fixed. The part about Choice Band and Life Orb was probably just a copy-and-paste from the other sets.

Reading back through this comment, it does not seem helpful and I mostly just waffle. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the comments and pointing out on Fire fang.

In regards to Lum berry, Im not a huge fan, mostly because zolt doesnt have a direct boosting move itself to abuse statuses. Yawn also getting cancelled by electric terrain means it doesnt need to worry about sleep or paralysis. At that point you might as well use a different mon.

I personally only like Scarf and Sash on the offensive hustle set, but a couple newer nouthuca teams have sported Band. I also agree with the LO comment, but if you have no other users, it makes sense on it.

I like this, QC 2/2. I think Choice Band is an item that can be left out on the offensive set but :jynx: it does have its uses and Dracozolt isn't meant to be a flexible options Pokemon anyways.

* Aerial Ace can also be used for this set to gain access to Max Airstream when Dynamaxed (RC) but can be forgone if you have other available Pokemon to that better utilize Dynamax.

Choice Band-boosted Fire Fang can immediately OHKO without chip damage, however.

* Low Kick is an alternative that OHKOes Tyranitar and can provide Max Knuckle Attack boosts while Dracozolt is Dynamaxed.

* Choice Scarf allows Dracozolt to more often get double power double-Base Power Bolt Beak.

* Alternatively, Focus Sash guarantees Dracozolt can get off attacks and trade more efficiently against foes.

* Life Orb and Choice Band may also be opted for to allow Dracozolt to hit slower opponents even harder, punishing slow defensive builds.

* A Jolly nature with maximum Speed is preferred to make Bolt Beak hit with doubled power versus the most number of possible targets.

[SET COMMENTS]

* Dracozolt's unique defensive typing and decent bulk allows allow it to become a decent Assault Vest user, specializing in taking on Rotom-A while still pressuring Corviknight and Gyarados.

* Alternatively, Low Kick is primarily used to KO Tyranitar (RC; _bigger_) and can also be used to hit Ferrothorn for modest damage.

==============

Dracozolt appreciates checks to Ground-types, such as Hippowdon and Excadrill. It also pairs well with Pokemon that cannot effectively beat the Rotom formes.
