After trying to fill in the shoes Iron Threads left behind after leaving, Excadrill has proven to be a formidable and one of the scariest late game cleaner on Sand teams. Thanks to Terastilization and equipping an Air Balloon, Excadrill has a far easier time to set up Swords Dance against Ground types like opposing Excadrill or Fighting types like Cobalion. Excadrill possesses an excellent Attack, high enough speed to outrun all Choice Scarf users under Sand, an excellent offensive and defensive typing, great coverage in Earthquake and Rock Slide to hit the majority of the metagame, and amazing role compression with Rapid Spin, which also helps boost speed while removing hazards to outrun everything without a Choice Scarf outside of sand. Sand Rush Excadrill fits best on Sand teams, meaning a sand setter is mandatory, which makes Tyranitar a perfect partner because of its ability to set sand up, provide entry hazards in Stealth Rocks, using Knock Off to remove Heavy-Duty-Boots and cripple walls, and spread paralysis with Thunder Wave to help Excadrill outspeed more threats outside of sand. Tera Ghost is useful to remove the Fighting type weakness and be immune to priority like Extreme Speed Arcanine-Hisui in a pinch, or you can use Tera Rock to resist Extreme Speed and boost the power of Rock Slide, while also receiving a SpD boost in sand for easier setup on Special Attackers such as Zapdos and Tornadus-Therian.
