SM OU First Real Team - RMT

Hello, everyone. I used to play a lot a few years back, but kind of fell out of it due to my desktop monitor failing from age. But now with a trusty new laptop for schoolwork, I'm back and even more rusty than ever. Looking at the new metagame, I decided to try my best to build a new team to work with the style I last played, which was a Trick Room team. Just because I'm unlucky enough for all my favorites to be slow. I have done some practice runs as well, and generally the Pokémon themselves do well. Any losses usually end up happening because I make a rookie mistake due to being out of season, I guess one could call it haha.

What I have for my team so far is as follows:

Rampardos (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Sheer Force
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 64 HP / 162 Atk / 32 Def / 252 Spe
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish
- Fire Punch
- Rock Slide
Rampardos: Rampardos is one of two primary damage dealers in this team, designed to function both inside the main Trick Room gimmick as well as outside of it should my two Trick Room setters go down. This is why he still has 252 EVs in speed alongside Rock Polish. I also gave an Expert Belt over a Life Orb, since the Life Orb would hurt the little survivability he has. I also put some EVs in HP and Defense as well, to make sure he could comfortably survive a Bullet Punch from Mega Scizor, and then enough EVs in Attack to OHKO it with Fire Punch. I have some calcs provided at the bottom that I can supply to show the details for this as well as against a few other common OU threats.

Mew @ Mewnium Z
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Trick Room
- Volt Switch
- Focus Blast
Mew: Mew is one of the two Trick Room setters on the team, as well as a pivot through Volt Switch. Basically set up Room, and if I don’t think I need it for something else, use Mew’s Z move to set up Psychic Terrain and then Volt Switch out to something else. Focus Blast is there in order to be enough to kill Ash-Greninja, as Aura Sphere falls short. While Greninja has a chance of OHKO, Mew should be able to OHKO if Focus Blast hits, assuming the Greninja isn’t running some weird Assault Vest or SpDef build. Psychic is then just there for STAB, and obviously to have Genesis Supernova go off if I don't see a need for the other Z-moves my team carries.

Magnezone @ Electrium Z
Ability: Magnet Pull
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 84 HP / 252 SpA / 172 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Magnezone: When I mentioned other things I may need my Z move for, this was the big one. Magnezone’s Gigavolt Havoc is, as known by now, enough to kill Heatran after Stealth Rock, or an equal amount of prior damage. Magnezone is also an answer to Ash-Greninja, only being 2HKO’d by Dark Pulse while Thunderbolt is enough to handle it. Hydro Pump is a 50/50 OHKO though, so that’s a gamble. I’m not good with using or timing Substitutes though, so I may switch that out for Thunder Wave to try and cripple something when Trick Room isn’t up, or something similar.

Slowbro (F) @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 212 HP / 44 Def / 252 SpA
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Psyshock
Slowbro-Mega: Something else I picked up after being politely informed that trying to run Garchomp with an Iron Ball and Fling for another sweeper that’d function both in and out of Trick Room was stupid. Slowbro-Mega is definitely valued since it can just…completely annihilate Landorus-T, something nobody else on the team can really do too effectively without a Z move. It’s also able to hit enemy Garchomps with Ice Beam for destruction. 44 EVs in Def and 212 EVs in HP allow Slowbrow to only be 4HKO by both of Garchomp’s best STAB moves, and 5HKO by Landorus-T’s Stone Edge. Landorus-T’s Earthquake is also only a 4HKO. Kartana’s Leaf Blade also 2HKOs without any boosts, while Ice Beam is a 94% chance of OHKO. Close enough to 100%.

Heatran (F) @ Firium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Magma Storm
- Stone Edge
Heatran: Heatran is the one to set rocks as mentioned above with Magnezone, and then just get to work with Earth Power, Magma Storm, and Stone Edge. I also use Heatran to try and predict fire moves that come at Magnezone and Magearna, then get a boost off of Flash Fire and run wild, which enables it to have extra sweeping potential that my team if it lands...although I've only called it correctly once. Hopefully Magma Storm is also enough to handle Celesteela, but I haven't gotten the chance to look over that interaction yet.

Magearna @ Fairium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 134 Def / 252 SpA / 122 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Aura Sphere
Magearna: Speaking of, Magearna is both my second Trick Room setter and a tank together. Fleur Cannon is generally only there for Fairium-Z, and if not that, I only use it on something it can definitely kill so it immediately gets back half of it’s lost SpAtk. Twinkle Tackle off Fleur Cannon is enough to oneshot Landorus-T if not previously debuffed. Flash Cannon is there for other Fairy types, as well as just being a good STAB move that won't debuff my attacking stat. Then Aura Sphere is there for accuracy, as well as type coverage against things that both Fleur Cannon and Flash Cannon can't hurt too well.

And here's all, or at least most of the calcs that I did to figure out EV spreads for my team, as well as a few of the moves too.

I can do a few more calcs as well if need be. And stupid as it may be, Rampardos is the centerpiece in a way, so I'd rather avoid getting rid of it if at all possible. I think I was able to justify it's presence to do things others can not, but we will see. I hope the descriptions are enough at least.

Thank you in advance for the help, and I hope it all goes well.
