[OVERVIEW]

Guzzlord stands out as a top-tier wallbreaker due to its combination of excellent offenses and defenses. Offensively, its typing gives it access to high-power STAB moves like Draco Meteor, and strong coverage moves such as Heavy Slam and Fire Blast allows it to plow through defensive checks like Clefairy and Alolan Sandslash. Defensively, Guzzlord sports a slew of excellent resistances and an extremely high HP stat, making it a strong check to many of the tier's attackers such as Jellicent and Eelektross. Guzzlord also has the ability to hit hard both physically and specially, giving it a level of unpredictability and the ability to capitalize on practically every defensive Pokemon in the tier with the right set. However, Guzzlord is hampered by its low Speed, making it incredibly easy to force out. Its typing is a double-edged sword, as it gives Guzzlord weaknesses to common Fighting-, Ice-, Bug-, and Fairy-type attacks and leaves it vulnerable to all forms of entry hazards. This makes Guzzlord fairly prediction reliant, as it can become easy to take advantage of if played passively. Guzzlord also lacks reliable recovery, leaving it prone to being worn down and broken through by Pokemon it could otherwise check. Lastly, Guzzlord does face some competition as a wallbreaker from Drampa and Alolan Raticate, although its defensive presence and versatility make it a much stronger Pokemon overall.

evs: 136 Def / 252 SpA / 60 SpD / 60 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Fire Blast is excellent neutral coverage and allows Guzzlord to OHKO Alolan Sandslash. Heavy Slam should be run alongside Dragonium Z and is Guzzlord's best way to hit Fairy-types such as Clefairy and Carbink. Sludge Bomb fares better with Choice Specs, as the increased power makes it a more worthwhile coverage option. Knock Off can also be useful to improve Guzzlord's matchup versus stall teams, as the utility of removing items can be more important than immediate damage.

Set Details
========

Dragonium Z gives Guzzlord a nuke that can avoid Draco Meteor's Special Attack drop if needed. Choice Specs allows Guzzlord to hit extremely hard all the time but increases its reliance on predictions. 60 Speed EVs allow Guzzlord to outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Regirock, and 136 Defense EVs allow Guzzlord to survive two Icicle Crashes from uninvested Alolan Sandslash from full. Due to Guzzlord's naturally high HP, the remaining EVs are put into Special Defense instead of HP, as they increase its bulk more overall.

Usage Tips
========

The main goal of this set is for Guzzlord to fire off Draco Meteor as much as possible, particularly early-game, and only use its coverage moves if a bulky Dragon switch-in makes Draco Meteor unusable. Making strong predictions is key, since Guzzlord's poor Speed and lack of recovery mean it can't afford to let Pokemon such as Silvally-Fairy pivot in for free multiple times. Guzzlord can be extremely unpredictable before it clicks a move, and attempting to bluff a physical set or hide Heavy Slam can lead to surprise KOs on Pokemon such as Tangela and Carbink. Guzzlord is capable of checking certain sweepers, such as Ludicolo, due to its natural bulk and typing. In matchups where Guzzlord is required to be used defensively, it may be best to preserve Guzzlord's health rather than use it as a wallbreaker. However, if this isn't the case, Guzzlord is extremely adept at using its bulk to check weaker attackers such as Skuntank and Floatzel. It is best brought in to wallbreak versus these weaker attackers, but it should also be careful about switching into entry hazards too much, as that is another major way that its bulk can be compromised.

Team Options
========

Guzzlord pairs well with physical setup sweepers, such as Lycanroc and Dodrio, as it can pressure walls like Regirock and Mudsdale extremely effectively. Physical wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Aggron go well with Guzzlord for similar reasons and can pressure some of Guzzlord's checks such as Audino. Fighting-, Fairy- and Ice-type checks such as Mesprit, Alolan Sandslash, and Jellicent can help cover Guzzlord's most pressing weaknesses. Mesprit can also support Guzzlord as a slow pivot with U-turn or as a cleric with Healing Wish. Entry hazard setters like Froslass and Metang can further support Guzzlord's wallbreaking capabilities, with both also having decent defensive synergy with Guzzlord as Fighting- and Ice-type checks, respectively. Since Guzzlord has no recovery and often wants to pivot in and out frequently, entry hazard removers such as Kabutops can help preserve Guzzlord's bulk.

[SET]
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Dark Pulse
move 3: Fire Blast
move 4: Heavy Slam / Knock Off
item: Assault Vest
ability: Beast Boost
nature: Modest
evs: 196 Def / 252 SpA / 60 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Heavy Slam is Guzzlord's best way to hit Fairy-types such as Silvally-Fairy and it allows Guzzlord to OHKO Aurorus. However, Knock Off can cripple item-reliant Pokemon such as Hitmonchan and Type: Null.

Set Details
========

Assault Vest boosts Guzzlord's Special Defense and allows it to act as a tank and check strong special attackers such as Omastar and Simisear. 60 Speed EVs let Guzzlord outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Audino.

Usage Tips
========

This set is meant to wall special attackers such as Jellicent and Victreebel, although it has to watch out for coverage moves like Ice Beam. Guzzlord can also check certain weaker or resisted physical attackers, like Spiritomb and Choice-locked Kabutops, but it needs to choose what it checks as it can be worn down quite quickly. In particular, Guzzlord will need to stay healthy to check certain strong setup sweepers such as Shell Smash Omastar. Be very careful of its health and make good use of clerics if they are being run with Guzzlord. Also make use of slow pivots such as Lanturn to bring Guzzlord in safely. When given the opportunity, using Draco Meteor as much as possible lets Guzzlord function as an offensive threat as well.

Team Options
========

Guzzlord can form a defensive core with Pokemon such as Quagsire, Mudsdale, and Qwilfish, which help cover Fighting-types and strong physical attackers for Guzzlord. Due to its lack of recovery, clerics such as Wish Audino and Healing Wish Mesprit are extremely useful for healing Guzzlord, and pivots such as Type: Null and Lanturn can help bring in Guzzlord without it needing to take a hit. Lanturn and Audino can also heal Guzzlord's status conditions with Heal Bell.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Outrage
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Heavy Slam
move 4: Dragon Claw / Drain Punch
item: Choice Band
ability: Beast Boost
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 136 Def / 60 SpD / 60 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Dragon Claw can be run as a backup Dragon-type move, since Outrage typically leaves Guzzlord easy to revenge kill. Alternatively, Drain Punch can OHKO Alolan Sandslash and Aurorus and provides slight recovery.

Set Details
========

Choice Band significantly increases Guzzlord's power at the downside of locking it into a single move. 136 Defense EVs allow Guzzlord to survive two Icicle Crashes from specially defensive Alolan Sandslash from full health, and 60 Speed EVs allow it to outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Eelektross.

Usage Tips
========

As Guzzlord is most commonly run as a special attacker, this set is able to lure in specially bulky Pokemon, such as Hitmonchan and Audino, and potentially pick up surprise KOs. Heavy Slam will often be Guzzlord's best neutral coverage tool, as it avoids locking Guzzlord into Outrage and hits most Knock Off absorbers such as Alolan Persian quite hard due to Guzzlord's weight. However, stay wary when locking Guzzlord into a single move when attacking, as it can be exploited by stat-boosting attackers such as Nasty Plot Alolan Persian and Swords Dance Silvally-Fairy. This is especially true when using Outrage, which can also leave Guzzlord wide open for revenge killers.

Team Options
========

Special wallbreakers such as Aurorus and Eelektross can form a solid offensive core with Guzzlord, threatening physical walls such as Mudsdale that give Guzzlord a hard time while Guzzlord pressures special walls such as Clefairy. Eelektross is also notable for being able to bring Guzzlord in safely with Volt Switch. Late-game sweepers like Simisear and Lycanroc also get a lot out of Guzzlord's wallbreaking capabilities and appreciate Guzzlord removing Eviolite from Pokemon such as Type: Null and Tangela. Guzzlord's power can be supplemented by entry hazard setters like Qwilfish and Regirock. Mesprit is notable for being able to bring Guzzlord in as a slow pivot with U-turn, heal it as a cleric with Healing Wish, and set Stealth Rock.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

The Assault Vest set can be run mixed or physical, typically with a moveset consisting of Draco Meteor, Knock Off, Heavy Slam, and Drain Punch. This leaves Guzzlord somewhat weaker and forced to split its attacking stats but enables it to fire off stronger Heavy Slams and Knock Offs. A Substitute + Toxic set can stall out unsuspecting switch-ins such as Audino, but is let down by Guzzlord's poor Speed and is better left to Alolan Dugtrio or Poliwrath. A set of Rest / Sleep Talk / Knock Off / Dragon Tail goes particularly well on Spikes teams and gives Guzzlord some recovery, but it can easily force in an entry hazard remover and is underwhelming defensively due to its typing. Guzzlord can run Rocky Helmet or Iapapa Berry on bulkier sets, but both items tend to be inferior to Assault Vest. Life Orb is another alternative for offensive sets, but the chip damage it adds to Guzzlord significantly mitigates its good bulk.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: Despite its decent bulk, Guzzlord's low Speed means that it will normally have to take a hit from many strong wallbreakers, particularly physical ones, which are able to KO Guzzlord with little to no prior chip damage. Examples include Stoutland, Aggron, and Pinsir.

**Ice-types**: Offensive Ice-types such as Aurorus, Rotom-F, and Abomasnow do a lot of damage to Guzzlord, although they cannot safely switch in against it. Alolan Sandslash is a decent pivot into Draco Meteor but takes significant damage from Dark Pulse and Fire Blast. Assault Vest Crabominable is a notable option because it can switch into Guzzlord's special STAB attacks fairly well and OHKO in return, although it is 2HKOed by Heavy Slam.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types such as Clefairy, Carbink, and Silvally-Fairy all limit Guzzlord's ability to use its STAB moves while doing a solid amount of damage to it. However, all of them fear certain coverage moves, such as Sludge Bomb and Heavy Slam, and Clefairy is crippled by Knock Off.

**Fighting-types**: Assault Vest Hitmonchan is one of the most reliable checks to Guzzlord in the tier. Although it can be worn down through repeated switches and does not enjoy losing its Assault Vest to Knock Off, it can tank multiple Draco Meteors and retaliate with Drain Punch. Gurdurr, Poliwrath, and Primeape can all check certain Guzzlord sets to some extent, but none can switch in easily and the former two cannot defeat special wallbreaker Guzzlord one-on-one.

**Other Bulky Pokemon**: Depending on Guzzlord's set, it can be walled by certain physically and specially defensive Pokemon. For its special sets, Type: Null and Cradily can come in with ease and heal off damage, although the former does fear Knock Off. As for the physical variations, Quagsire, Tangela, and Qwilfish can all come in and take advantage to set up moves like Curse, Leech Seed, or Spikes. However, Tangela also fears Knock Off.

**Residual Damage**: Since Guzzlord switches a lot and lacks reliable recovery, it is prone to being worn down. This can be done through Mudsdale's Toxic, Qwilfish's Spikes, or even forcing Guzzlord to consistently sponge resisted hits like Jellicent's Water Spout.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Guzzlord stands as a top-tier wallbreaker with both an offensive and defensive presence. On the offensive side, it has a great Dark / Dragon STAB combination and solid a fantastic movepool.
  • Defensively, while Guzzlord may have mediocre Defense and Special Defense, its great typing and tremendous HP stat more than make up for it.
  • This allows Guzzlord to serve as both an offensive and defensive check to various Pokemon such as Lilligant, Jellicent, and Eelektross.
  • Guzzlord is a very versatile Pokemon, making it difficult to predict which set it is running when seen at team preview. This is because it is able to be run as a special, physical, or mixed wallbreaker. yeah idk this doesn't sound very convincing since all sets have similar-ish coverage and ability to demolish most switchins anyway. don't get me wrong that's not a bad thing, but it's not versatile as much as it is always good all the time
  • However, bar its HP, Guzzlord's stats aren't the best, with its only average Attack and Special Attack, low Speed, and pitiful Defense and Special Defense stats.
  • While its typing may be good defensively for the most part, it can also leave Guzzlord vulnerable to Pokemon like Aurorus and Silvally-Fairy or even coverage moves such as Choice Scarf Mesprit's Dazzling Gleam.
  • Even if not hit by a super effective attack, Guzzlord lacks reliable recovery, which means it can also be prone to being worn down if switching in too much, especially if hazards are on the field.
  • Lastly, depending on the set it's running, Guzzlord does face competition with other wallbreakers. Its Choice Specs set can be accomplished by Drampa, who possesses a higher Special Attack. Pokemon like Stotuland and Alolan Raticate give Guzzlord's Choice Band set competition with their higher Attack and Speed stats. However, Guzzlord's defensive presence and versatility gives it reasons to use over those other options.
idk how well this overview is going to sell guzzlord, but if u go hard in the writeup it'll prolly be fine

Moves
========
  • Heavy Slam Should be run alongside Dragonium Z, being its best way to hit Fairy-types such as Clefairy and Silvally-Fairy. Similar can be said about Sludge Bomb, but it should be run alonside Choice Specs.
  • Knock Off can also be run with Dragonium Z and serve as a support move for weakening Pokemon such as Type: Null and Choice Scarf Primeape. you'd just draco ape tho, audino or cuno perhaps
i think giving fire blast targets is fine, it's not quite as basic as dual stab

Set Details
========
  • Dragonium gives Guzzlord a nuke while Choice Specs lets it hit harder but at the downside of locking it into a move.
  • 60 Special Defense allows Guzzlord to live Breakneck Blitz from a +1 Lilligant.
  • 60 Speed lets Guzzlord outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon like Regirock.
  • With a Modest nature and max Special Attack EVs to maximize damage output, the rest of the EVs are put into Defense, which lets Guzzlord live 2 Icicle Crashes from Specially Defensive Alolan Sandslash.
Usage Tips
========
  • The main goal of this set is for Guzzlord to fire off Draco Meteor as much as possible, using its other coverage when need-be. This is something to watch out for when running Choice Specs, since you have to predict when to use said coverage over spamming Draco Meteor.
  • If running Dragonium Z it should be saved for a bulky foe or late game to finish a weakened foe off.
  • Due to Draco Meteor's power lowering each time, Guzzlord will be forced to switch out. In order to get it back into the field it can be through slow pivots like defensive Mesprit and Lanturn.
  • Guzzlord checks various Pokemon such as Lilligant, so it can hard switch in against those. However, when switching in, look out for coverage such as Choice Specs Jellicent's Ice Beam. this is so basic idk if it's worth if nothing more can be said
this feels a bit small and all the points are extremely basic and almost unnecessary, ik guzz is straightforward but perhaps there's something useful to say about the use of heavy slam/sludge bomb in luring things (not immediately showing off coverage perhaps), or to what degree guzz ought to be preserved throughout a match

Team Options
========
  • Guzzlord pairs well with physical setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and Dodrio as it can weaken physical walls like Regirock and Mudsdale for them, allowing them to more easily clean up the match.
  • Guzzlord appreciates slow pivots such as Mesprit and Eelektross. Mesprit can also help against Fighting-types, restore Guzzlord with Healing Wish, and support it with Stealth Rock. Other hazard setters like Froslass and Aggron can also help wear down the opposing team for Guzzlord.
  • Aggron and other Steel-types such as offensive Alolan Sandslash can help against Fairy-types like Clefairy and Ice-types like Aurorus.
  • Since Guzzlord is so easily worn down, and often switches a lot, it benefits from having hazard removal such as Hitmonchan and Kabutops.

Moves
========
  • Heavy Slam is Guzzlord's best way to hit Fairy-types such as Clefairy and Carbink while having other targets such as Aurorus.
  • However, Knock Off is another option, working as a support move that can cripple Pokemon like Clefairy.
ditto here for fire blast

Set Details
========
  • Assault Vest boosts Guzzlord's Special Defense in order to better it as a tank.
  • 60 Speed lets Guzzlord outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon like Regirock and Audino.
  • Besides the max Special Attack and Modest nature, the rest of the EVs are put into defense.
Usage Tips
========
  • This set is meant to wall special attackers such as Jellicent and Victreebel, although has to watch out for coverage like the former's Ice Beam. Guzzlord can also do well against certain physical attackers such as Skuntank and choice-locked Kabutops, but is much more easily worn down by them, so it isn't the best idea.
  • Furthermore, Guzzlord can serve as a wallbreaker due to the power of Draco Meteor, which should be its most-used move.
  • While this Pokemon will mostly be hard switched in to take hits or on a predicted switch, it also appreciates being brought in by a slow pivot such as Mesprit and Lanturn in order to conserve health. you can't copy the exact same bullet lol, at least if the examples were different this wouldn't be so blatant. this check is being done over 2 days and i still remember reading this same thing up above yesterday
again, if there's anything else to elaborate on here it's probably the nuances of health preservation

Team Options
========
  • Guzzlord can form a defensive core with Pokemon such as Quagsire, Mudsdale, and Qwilfish, with the latter two additionally supplying hazards for Guzzlord.
  • Due to its lack of recovery, Guzzlord works well alongside Audino and Mesprit as they can heal it back up with Wish and Healing Wish. Furthermore, Audino can weaken Pokemon with Toxic while Mesprit can supply Stealth Rock and serve as a slow pivot.
  • Another slow pivot option is Lanturn, who, alongside other Water-types such as Poliwrath and Jellicent, appreciate Guzzlord's ability to check Grass-types like Lilligant and Electric-types like Manectric in the latter two's case. In return they can help against Ice-types like Aurorus and the latter helps against Fighting-types like Primeape.

Moves
========
  • Dragon Claw can be run as a backup option for a Dragon-type move that doesn't lock you in that Outrage does.
  • Alternatively, Drain Punch is able to OHKO various threats to Guzzlord such as Alolan Sandslash and Aurorus while restoring its own health.
something about heavy slam also being real strong neutral coverage wouldn't be amiss, especially if ur not running dclaw and u dont wanna risk outrage (although at that level of nuance this might fit better in usage tips)

Set Details
========
  • Choice Band is a large source of Guzzlord's power, but with the downside of locking it into a single move.
  • Alongside max Attack and Adamant nature, 136 Defense is run to live two Icicle Crashes from Specially Defenses Alolan Sandslash.
  • 60 Special Defense lets Guzzlord live a Breakneck Blitz from +1 Lilligant.
  • 60 Speed EVs lets it outspeed Pokemon such as Audino and Eelektross.
Usage Tips
========
  • This set serves as a physical wallbreaker, and since most Guzzlord sets are primarily special, this set is able to lure in Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Hitmonchan and Clefairy and potentially pick up the KO.
  • However, stay wary that you are locking yourself into a single move when attacking, which can be abused by setup Pokemon such as Curse Quagsire and Nasty Plot Alolan Persian if locked into a certain move. This is especially when using Outrage, since that leaves you unable to even switch out.
  • Guzzlord can be used to take attacks throughout the match but that may not be the best idea at times if saving it to take an attack such as Lilligant's Breakneck Blitz, especially if not running Drain Punch.
Team Options
========
  • Special wallbreakers such as Aurorus and Eelektross can form a solid offensive core with Guzzlord. Eelektross also provides a slow pivot.
  • Late game sweepers such as Simisear and Jynx benefit from Guzzlord wearing down foes and its ability to remove items like Primeape's Choice Scarf and Type: Null's Eviolite. Guzzlord can also check Water-types for Simisear and Ghost-types for Jynx.
  • Guzzlord does also appreciate foes being worn does, so it benefits from hazard setters like Qwilfish and Mesprit. Qwilfish doesn't enjoy Psychic-types while Guzzlord doesn't enjoy Fairy-types, and Mesprit is a slow pivot that can heal Guzzlord with Healing Wish.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Assault Vest can be run with a mainly physical movepool, consisting of Draco Meteor, Knock Off, Heavy Slam, and Drain Punch. The spread for this set is a Brave nature and 252 Atk / 136 Def / 88 SpA / 32 Spe.
  • A Substitute+Toxic set can utilize Guzlord's high HP in order to stall opponents as they are worn down. However, this set can struggle due to Guzzlord's low Speed and is therefore better accomplished by Pokemon like Alolan Dugtrio.
  • Restalk alongside Knock Off and Dragon Tail can go well on Spikes teams in order to wear down opponents, but this set is very offensively underwhelming.
  • Guzzlord can run Rocky Helmet and Iapapa Berry can be run on bulky sets, but are inferior to alternate defensive items such as Assault Vest.
  • Life Orb is another item that can be run except on offensive builds, but is again inferior to items such as Dragonium and Choice Specs.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Wallbreakers**: Despite its decent bulk, many wallbreakers are able to 2HKO Guzzlord or just pick up the KO with some previously acquired damage or certain coverage moves. Examples of such wallbreakers are Stoutland, Primeape, and Choice Specs Mesprit.

**Ice-types**: Offensive Ice-types such as Aurorus, Rotom-Frost, and Abomasnow do a lot of damage to Guzzlord, although cannot safely switch in against it. Bulkier Ice-types such as Alolan Sandslash can do it a little more safely, but do less damage in return and still have to watch out for moves like Fire Blast. Crabominable is an especially notable option because it can both switch in and has a great damage output on Guzzlord.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types such as Clefairy, Carbink, and Silvally-Fairy all limit Guzzlord's ability to use its STAB moves while doing a solid amount of damage to it. However, all of them fear certain coverage such as Sludge Bomb and Heavy Slam, and Clefairy is crippled by Knock Off.

**Other Bulky Pokemon**: Depending on Guzzlord's set, it can be walled by certain physically and specially defensive Pokemon. For its special sets, Type: Null and Cradily can come in with ease and heal off damage, albeit the former does fear Knock Off. As for the physical variations, Quagsire, Tangela, and Qwilfish can all come in and take advantage to set up moves like Curse, Leech Seed, or Spikes. However, Tangela also fears Knock Off.

**Chip Damage**: Since Guzzlord switches a lot and lacks reliable recovery, it is prone to being worn down. This can be done through Mudsdale's Toxic, Qwilfish's Spikes, or even resisted hits like Jellicent's Water Spout.

  • Guzzlord is capable of hitting hard as both a physical or special attacker, allowing it some slight surprise factor until its set gets revealed (I think it's worth noting that most of its sets can capitalize on passive pokemon like sableye/tangela/altaria and that its coverage is capable of bypassing checks like clefairy)
  • However, bar its HP, Guzzlord's stats aren't the best, with its only average Attack and Special Attack, low Speed, and pitiful Defense and Special Defense stats (just emphasize its speed and reliance on certain attacks to wallbreak, idt its poor defenses are accountable when its massive hp still makes it very bulky overall)
  • While its typing may be good defensively for the most part, it can also leave Guzzlord vulnerable to Pokemon like Aurorus and Silvally-Fairy (give fighting types a shout too) or even coverage moves such as Choice Scarf Mesprit's Dazzling Gleam.

Pokemon like Stoutland and Alolan Raticate give Guzzlord's Choice Band set competition with their higher Attack and Speed stats. However, Guzzlord's defensive presence and versatility gives it reasons to use over these other options.
  • (no mention of beast boost anywhere? it's a pretty sick ability that punishes sacrificial plays and allows guzzlord to be incredibly painful for defensive teams once it starts picking up)

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Fire Blast is good neutral coverage and allows Guzzlord to OHKO Alolan Sandslash
  • Heavy Slam Should be run alongside Dragonium Z, being its best way to hit Fairy-types such as Clefairy and Silvally-Fairy. Similar can be said about Sludge Bomb, but it should be run alonside Choice Specs due to it being stronger coverage versus non-Fairies (note being able to potentially poison defensive switchins like audino)
  • (knock off should get a mention here too since it's a slightly more reliable one-two punch with z move/draco and it's effective midground between switch-ins to its individual moves like hitmonchan and eelektross while crippling mons that give this set trouble like audino)
Set Details
========
  • Dragonium gives Guzzlord a nuke (and ignores draco's special attack drops) while Choice Specs lets it hit harder but at the downside of locking it into a move.
  • 60 Special Defense allows Guzzlord to live Breakneck Blitz from a +1 Lilligant. (move this to the end and say smth like "the remaining evs are thrown into spdef to bolster its ability to check pokemon like specs jellicent")
Usage Tips
========
  • The main goal of this set is for Guzzlord to fire off Draco Meteor as much as possible, using its other coverage when need-be. This is something to watch out for when running Choice Specs, since you have to predict when to use said coverage over spamming Draco Meteor.
  • If running Dragonium Z it should be saved for a bulky foe or late game to finish a weakened foe off (there's also situations where it's detrimental that guzzlord shouldn't have its special attack dropped).
  • Guzzlord can be extremely unpredictable before it clicks a move, attempting to bluff a physical set or hide Heavy Slam can lead to surprise KOs on Pokemon such as Tangela or Carbink
  • If facing certain sweepers which Guzzlord can check due to its natural bulk and typing, such as Lilligant or Ludicolo, it may be best to preserve Guzzlord rather than allow it to get weakened while wallbreaking (perhaps you could also mention situations you can make use of its tremendous bulk by acting as checks to certain mons like jellicent and skuntank when need be)
  • (this is a thing with all guzzlord sets but definitely note how prediction-reliant it is due to its poor speed and exploitable weaknesses, like going for heavy slam on a telegraphed switch-in to fairyvally)
Team Options
========
  • Guzzlord pairs well with physical setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and Dodrio as it can weaken physical walls like Regirock and Mudsdale for them, allowing them to more easily clean up the match.
  • (give physical wallbreakers a shout too since they can also break away at guzzlord's checks but without the need to set up)
  • Guzzlord appreciates slow pivots such as Mesprit and Eelektross.
  • Since Guzzlord is so easily worn down, and often switches a lot, it benefits from having hazard removal such as Hitmonchan and Kabutops.

move 4: Heavy Slam / Knock Off

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Heavy Slam is Guzzlord's best way to hit Fairy-types such as Clefairy and Carbink while having other targets such as Aurorus.
  • However, Knock Off is another option, working as a support move that can cripple Pokemon like Clefairy (mention stuff like audino and type null here too).
Set Details
========
  • Assault Vest boosts Guzzlord's Special Defense in order to better it as a tank.
  • 60 Speed lets Guzzlord outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon like Regirock and Audino. (should be obvious by now)
  • Besides the max Special Attack and Modest nature, the rest of the EVs are put into defense.
Usage Tips
========
(where are some good situations where preserving guzzlord's hp is preferred? you can notably survive moves like rotom-f's blizzard or +2 omastar's ice beam with a reasonable amount of health left which is an excellent time to retaliate back, and it rewards playing cautiously with this particular guzzlord set)
  • Furthermore, Guzzlord can serve as a wallbreaker due to the power of Draco Meteor, which should be its most-used move.
  • While Guzzlord has excellent bulk, it lacks any kind of recovery. Using slow pivots such as Mesprit or Lanturn to bring it in safely can help to conserve health
Team Options
========
[SET]

move 3: Heavy Slam
move 4: Dragon Claw / Drain Punch
item: Choice Band
ability: Beast Boost
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 136 Def / 60 SpD / 60 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Dragon Claw can be run as a backup option for a Dragon-type move that doesn't lock you in that Outrage does.
  • Alternatively, Drain Punch is able to OHKO various threats to Guzzlord such as Alolan Sandslash and Aurorus while restoring its own health.
Set Details
========
(these should be obvious already as per the first set)
Usage Tips
========
  • This set serves as a physical wallbreaker, and since most Guzzlord sets are primarily special, this set is able to lure in Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Hitmonchan and Clefairy and potentially pick up the KO (you're hardly a clefairy lure since 2 of your moves give away your set and clefairy loses to any of guzzlord's sets that arent choice locked into an unfortunate move. audino sounds better here since that serves as a consistent switch-in to its other sets).
  • Heavy Slam will often be Guzzlord's best neutral coverage tool if you want to avoid locking yourself into Outrage and the opposing team has a solid Knock Off absorber such as support Alolan Persian.
========
  • Special wallbreakers such as Aurorus and Eelektross can form a solid offensive core with Guzzlord. Eelektross also provides a slow pivot.
  • Late game sweepers such as Simisear and Jynx benefit from Guzzlord wearing down foes and its ability to remove items like Primeape's Choice Scarf (when is primeape hard switching into guzzlord/guzzlord clicking knock off one-on-one? seems like an unlikely scenario) and Type: Null's Eviolite. Guzzlord can also check Water-types for Simisear (say which ones for clarity's sake since simisear is capable of dispatching a handful of water types) and Ghost-types for Jynx.
  • Guzzlord does also appreciate foes being worn, so it benefits from hazard setters like Qwilfish and Mesprit. Qwilfish doesn't enjoy Psychic-types while Guzzlord doesn't enjoy Fairy-types (fairyvally tbolts qwilfish, maybe include a better example of a fairy check if that's what's being implied here) and Mesprit is a slow pivot that can heal Guzzlord with Healing Wish.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Assault Vest can be run with a mainly physical movepool, consisting of Draco Meteor, Knock Off, Heavy Slam, and Drain Punch. The spread for this set is a Brave nature and 252 Atk / 136 Def / 88 SpA / 32 Spe (some context for this spread?).
  • A Substitute+Toxic set can utilize Guzzlord's high HP in order to stall opponents as they are worn down. However, this set can struggle due to Guzzlord's low Speed and is therefore better accomplished by Pokemon like Alolan Dugtrio.
  • Restalk alongside Knock Off and Dragon Tail can go well on Spikes teams in order to wear down opponents (and gives guzzlord a form of recovery), but this set is very offensively underwhelming.
  • Guzzlord can run Rocky Helmet and Iapapa Berry can be run on bulky sets, but are inferior to alternate defensive items such as Assault Vest.
  • Life Orb is another item that can be run except on offensive builds, but is again inferior to items such as Dragonium and Choice Specs (how come? mention how it becomes even easier to wear down)
Checks and Counters
===================

Crabominable is an especially notable option because it can both switch in (into specially oriented sets) and has a great damage output on Guzzlord

This can be done through Mudsdale's Toxic, Qwilfish's Spikes, or even resisted hits like Jellicent's Water Spout (I'd rather say it cant repeatedly be used to sponge attacks).

(note super effective coverage and how it can be threatening. you already covered mesprit but things like ice beam jellicent and focus blast alolachu can also be very annoying for it)

(ice and fairy-types get mentioned but not fighting-types? av chan/crab can switch into special sets and recover a ton of health with drain punch, while gurdurr can take on cb sets relatively well)

[OVERVIEW]

Guzzlord stands out as a top-tier wallbreaking due to its combination of excellent offenses and defenses. Its STAB combination makes it a fantastic wallbreaker, and Guzzlord has access to both high-power STABs like Draco Meteor and strong coverage moves such as Heavy Slam and Fire Blast (that plow through defensive checks like Alolan Sandslash and Clefairy.) Defensively, Guzzlord sports a slew of excellent resists and an extremely high HP stat, making it a strong check to many of the tier's attackers such as Jellicent and Eelektross. Lastly, Guzzlord does face some competition as a wallbreaker from Drampa and Alolan Raticate, although its defensive presence and versatility of sets make it a much stronger Pokemon overall than its competitors.

Moves
========

Fire Blast is excellent neutral coverage and allows Guzzlord to OHKO Alolan Sandslash. Heavy Slam should be run alongside Dragonium Z, and is Guzzlord's best way to hit Fairy-types such as Clefairy and Carbink. Sludge Bomb fares better on Choice Specs, as the increased power makes it a more worthwhile coverage option (that hits certain fairies like Granbull and Shiinotic harder) Knock Off can also be useful to improve Guzzlord's matchup versus stall teams, as the utility of removing items can be more important than immediate damage.

Set Details
========

Dragonium Z gives Guzzlord a nuke that can ignore Draco Meteor's special attack drop if needed. Choice Specs allows Guzzlord to hit extremely hard all the time, but increases its reliance on predictions. 60 Speed EVs allow Guzzlord to outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Regirock, and 136 Defense EVs allow Guzzlord to survive two Icicle Crashes from Alolan Sandslash. Due to Guzzlord's naturally high HP, the remaining EVs are put into Special Defense instead of HP as they increase its bulk more overall.

Usage Tips
========

The main goal of this set is for Guzzlord to fire off Draco Meteor as much as possible, particularly in the early-game, and only use its coverage moves if a bulky Dragon resist or immunity makes Draco Meteor unworkable. Making strong predictions is key, since Guzzlord's Speed and lack of recovery means it can't afford to let Pokemon such as Silvally-Fairy pivot in for free multiple times. Guzzlord can be extremely unpredictable before it clicks a move, and attempting to bluff a physical set or hide Heavy Slam can lead to surprise KOs on Pokemon such as Tangela and Carbink. Guzzlord is capable of checking certain sweepers such as Ludicolo due to its natural bulk and typing. (also mention that the best time to bring guzz onto the field is against these weaker attackers) (mention that it shouldn't be brought in recklessly, especially if hazards are up)

Team Options
========

Guzzlord pairs well with physical setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and Dodrio, as it can pressure walls like Regirock and Mudsdale extremely effectively. Physical wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Aggron go well with Guzzlord for similar reasons, and can pressure some of Guzzlord's checks such as Audino. (In return, Guzzlord can break through bulky Pokemon like Gastrodon and Tangela for them) Fighting-, Fairy- and Ice-type checks such as Mesprit, Alolan Sandslash and Jellicent can help cover Guzzlord's most pressing weaknesses. Mesprit can also support Guzzlord as a slow pivot with U-Turn or as a cleric with Healing Wish. (and sr support, making wallbreaking a bit easier) Entry hazard setters like Froslass and Metang can further support Guzzlord's wallbreaking capabilities. (fros can check mons like hitmonchan for guzz while guzz can check shit like alolan persian for both) Since Guzzlord has no recovery and often wants to pivot in and out frequently, entry hazard removers such as Kabutops can help preserve Guzzlord's bulk.

Heavy Slam is Guzzlord's best way to hit Fairy-types such as Silvally-Fairy and allows Guzzlord to OHKO Aurorus. (mention clef and carbink here again too) However, Knock Off can cripple item-reliant Pokemon such as Clefairy and Type: Null. (no, you dont need to ever click knock vs clef if ur running heavy slam. mention av hitmonchan instead.)

Set Details
========

Assault Vest boosts Guzzlord's Special Defense and allows it to act as a tank. (checking mons like specs jellicent, simisear, and omastar better) 60 Speed EVs let Guzzlord outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Audino.

Usage Tips
========

This set is meant to wall special attackers such as Jellicent and Victreebel, although it has to watch out for coverage moves like the former's Ice Beam. Guzzlord can also check certain weaker or resisted physical attackers like Spiritomb or choice-locked Kabutops, but needs to choose what it checks as it can be worn down quite quickly.

========

Guzzlord can form a defensive core with Pokemon such as Quagsire, Mudsdale, and Qwilfish, which help cover Fighting-types and strong physical attackers for Guzzlord. Due to its lack of recovery, clerics such as Audino and Mesprit are extremely useful for healing Guzzlord with Wish or Healing Wish, and pivots such as Type: Null and Lanturn can help bring in Guzzlord without it needing to take a hit. Moves
========

Dragon Claw can be run as a backup Dragon-type move since Outrage typically leaves Guzzlord easy to revenge kill. Alternatively, Drain Punch can OHKO Alolan Sandslash and Aurorus and provides slight recovery. (hits probopass/aggron harder too)

Set Details
========

Choice Band significantly increases Guzzlord's power at the downside of locking it into a single move. 136 Defense EVs allow Guzzlord to survive two Icicle Crashes from Specially Defensive Alolan Sandslash, and 60 Speed EVs allow it to outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Eelektross.

Usage Tips
========

As Guzzlord is most commonly run as a special attacker, this set is able to lure in specially bulky Pokemon such as Hitmonchan and Audino and potentially pick up surprise KOs. Heavy Slam will often be Guzzlord's best neutral coverage tool, as it avoids locking Guzzlord into Outrage and hits most Knock Off absorbers such as Alolan Persian quite hard due to Guzzlord's weight. However, stay wary when locking Guzzlord into a single move when attacking, as it can be abused by stat-boosting attackers such as Nasty Plot Alolan Persian or Swords Dance Silvally-Fairy. This is especially true when using Outrage, which can also leave Guzzlord wide open for revenge killers.

Team Options
========

Special wallbreakers such as Aurorus and Eelektross can form a solid offensive core with Guzzlord, threatening physical walls such as Mudsdale that give Guzzlord a hard time while Guzzlord pressures special walls such as Clefairy (eel also brings in guzz safely and usually forces stuff like audino/clef in for guzz to take advantage of) . Late-game sweepers like Simisear and Lycanroc also get a lot out of Guzzlord's wallbreaking capabilities, and appreciate Guzzlord removing Eviolite from Pokemon such as Type: Null and Tangela.

=============

Assault Vest can be run mixed or physical, typically with a moveset consisting of Draco Meteor, Knock Off, Heavy Slam, and Drain punch. This leaves Guzzlord somewhat weaker and forced to split its attacking stats, but able to fire off stronger Heavy Slams and Knock Offs. A Substitute + Toxic set can stall out unsuspecting switchins such as Audino, but is let down by Guzzlord's poor Speed and better left to Alolan Dugtrio or Poliwrath. (this also makes guzzlord a lot more passive) A set of Rest / Sleep Talk / Knock Off / Dragon Tail goes particularly well on Spikes teams and gives Guzzlord some recovery, but can easily phase in an entry hazard remover and is underwhelming defensively due to its double-edged typing. (also makes guzz more passive) Guzzlord can run Rocky Helmet or Iapapa Berry on bulkier sets, but both items tend to be inferior to Assault Vest. Life Orb is another alternative for offensive sets, but the chip damage it adds to Guzzlord significantly mitigates its good bulk. (nah just say lo wears guzz down even quicker)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Wallbreakers**: Despite its decent bulk, many strong wallbreakers, particularly physical ones, are able to KO Guzzlord with little to no prior chip damage. Examples include Stoutland, Aggron, and Pinsir.

**Ice-types**: Offensive Ice-types such as Aurorus, Rotom-Frost, and Abomasnow do a lot of damage to Guzzlord, although they cannot safely switch in against it. Alolan Sandslash is a decent pivot into Draco Meteor, but takes significant damage from Dark Pulse and Fire Blast. Assault Vest Crabominable is an especially notable option because it can both switch in and OHKO Guzzlord. (heavy slam 2hkos after rocks)

**Fighting-types**: Assault Vest Hitmonchan is one of the most reliable checks to Guzzlord in the tier. Although it can be worn down through repeated switchins and does not enjoy its Assault Vest being Knocked Off, it can tank multiple Draco Meteors and retaliate with Drain Punch.

This can be done through Mudsdale's Toxic, Qwilfish's Spikes, or even forcing Guzzlord to consistently sponge resisted hits like Jellicent's Water Spout.

Guzzlord's power can be supplemented by entry hazard setters like Qwilfish and Regirock. Mesprit is notable for being able to bring Guzzlord in as a slow pivot with U-Turn U-turn, heal it as a cleric with Healing Wish, and set Stealth Rock.

Other Options
=============

The Assault Vest set can be run mixed or physical, typically with a moveset consisting of Draco Meteor, Knock Off, Heavy Slam, and Drain punch Punch. This leaves Guzzlord somewhat weaker and forced to split its attacking stats, but able to fire off stronger Heavy Slams and Knock Offs. A Substitute + Toxic set can stall out unsuspecting switchins switch-ins (AH) such as Audino, but is let down by Guzzlord's poor Speed and better left to Alolan Dugtrio or Poliwrath. A set of Rest / Sleep Talk / Knock Off / Dragon Tail goes particularly well on Spikes teams and gives Guzzlord some recovery, but can easily phase in an entry hazard remover and is underwhelming defensively due to its double-edged (meaning is not as clear when not part of the full phrase "double-edged sword") typing.

===================

However, all of them fear certain coverage such as Sludge Bomb and Heavy Slam, and Clefairy is crippled by Knock Off.

This can be done through Mudsdale's Toxic, Qwilfish's Spikes, or even forcing Guzzlord to consistently sponge resisted hits like Jellicent's Water Spout.

[OVERVIEW]

Guzzlord stands out as a top-tier wallbreaker due to its combination of excellent offenses and defenses. Guzzlord's STAB combination makes it a fantastic wallbreaker, and it has Its typing gives it access to both high-power STAB moves like Draco Meteor, (AC) and strong coverage moves such as Heavy Slam and Fire Blast which plow through defensive checks like Clefairy and Alolan Sandslash. Lastly, Guzzlord does face some competition as a wallbreaker from Drampa and Alolan Raticate, although its defensive presence and versatility of sets make it a much stronger Pokemon overall than its competitors.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Fire Blast is excellent neutral coverage and allows Guzzlord to OHKO Alolan Sandslash. Heavy Slam should be run alongside Dragonium Z (RC) and is Guzzlord's best way to hit Fairy-types such as Clefairy and Carbink. Sludge Bomb fares better on Choice Specs, as the increased power makes it a more worthwhile coverage option. Knock Off can also be useful to improve Guzzlord's matchup versus stall teams, as the utility of removing items can be more important than immediate damage.

Set Details
========

Dragonium Z gives Guzzlord a nuke that can ignore avoid Draco Meteor's Special Attack drop if needed. Choice Specs allows Guzzlord to hit extremely hard all the time (RC) but increases its reliance on predictions. 60 Speed EVs allow Guzzlord to outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Regirock, and 136 Defense EVs allow Guzzlord to survive two Icicle Crashes from Alolan Sandslash. Due to Guzzlord's naturally high HP, the remaining EVs are put into Special Defense instead of HP, (AC) as they increase its bulk more overall.

Usage Tips
========

The main goal of this set is for Guzzlord to fire off Draco Meteor as much as possible, particularly in the early-game, and only use its coverage moves if a bulky Dragon resist or immunity switch-in makes Draco Meteor unworkable. Making strong predictions is key, since Guzzlord's poor Speed and lack of recovery means mean it can't afford to let Pokemon such as Silvally-Fairy pivot in for free multiple times. It is best brought in to wallbreak versus these weaker attackers, but it should also be careful about switching Guzzlord into entry hazards too much, (AC) as that is another major way that its bulk can be compromised.

Team Options
========

Guzzlord pairs well with physical setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and Dodrio, as it can pressure walls like Regirock and Mudsdale extremely effectively. Physical wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Aggron go well with Guzzlord for similar reasons (RC) and can pressure some of Guzzlord's checks such as Audino. Entry hazard setters like Froslass and Metang can further support Guzzlord's wallbreaking capabilities, with both also having decent defensive synergy with Guzzlord as Fighting- and Ice-type checks, (AC) respectively. Since Guzzlord has no recovery and often wants to pivot in and out frequently, entry hazard removers such as Kabutops can help preserve Guzzlord's bulk.

Moves
========

Heavy Slam is Guzzlord's best way to hit Fairy-types such as Silvally-Fairy and it allows Guzzlord to OHKO Aurorus. However, Knock Off can cripple item-reliant Pokemon such as Hitmonchan and Type: Null.

Set Details
========

Assault Vest boosts Guzzlord's Special Defense and allows it to act as a tank and check strong special attackers such as Omastar and Simisear. 60 Speed EVs let Guzzlord outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon such as Audino.

Usage Tips
========

This set is meant to wall special attackers such as Jellicent and Victreebel, although it has to watch out for coverage moves like the former's Ice Beam. Guzzlord can also check certain weaker or resisted physical attackers like Spiritomb or and Choice-locked Kabutops, but it needs to choose what it checks, (AC) as it can be worn down quite quickly.

========

Guzzlord can form a defensive core with Pokemon such as Quagsire, Mudsdale, and Qwilfish, which help cover Fighting-types and strong physical attackers for Guzzlord. Due to its lack of recovery, clerics such as Wish Audino and Healing Wish Mesprit are extremely useful for healing Guzzlord with Wish or Healing Wish, and pivots such as Type: Null and Lanturn can help bring in Guzzlord without it needing to take a hit. Lanturn and Audino can also heal Guzzlord's status conditions with Heal Bell.

Moves
========

Dragon Claw can be run as a backup Dragon-type move, (AC) since Outrage typically leaves Guzzlord easy to revenge kill. Alternatively, Drain Punch can OHKO Alolan Sandslash and Aurorus and provides slight recovery.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

However, stay wary when locking Guzzlord into a single move when attacking, as it can be abused exploited by stat-boosting attackers such as Nasty Plot Alolan Persian and Swords Dance Silvally-Fairy. This is especially true when using Outrage, which can also leave Guzzlord wide open for revenge killers.

Team Options
========

Late-game sweepers like Simisear and Lycanroc also get a lot out of Guzzlord's wallbreaking capabilities (RC) and appreciate Guzzlord removing Eviolite from Pokemon such as Type: Null and Tangela.
