[OVERVIEW]

Hitmonlee is an interesting, albeit very flawed, setup sweeper in NeverUsed. Its appeal comes from access to both Curse and the ability Unburden, which, after consuming a White Herb, makes Hitmonlee the fastest non-Choice Scarf Pokemon in the tier. However, despite a naturally high Attack stat, Hitmonlee has trouble breaking through typical Fighting-type answers such as Garbodor, Vileplume, and especially Slowbro. Furthermore, Hitmonlee only gets one chance to sweep, and if it loses its White Herb before it sets up, it is potentially dead weight, limiting it to being a late-game sweeper. If it doesn't set up, Hitmonlee's middling Speed and poor bulk mean it is easily revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Whimsicott, Choice Scarf Passimian, and Delphox. This is why Hitmonlee finds itself outclassed as a Fighting-type by Passimian and Medicham.

Moves
========

Curse activates Hitmonlee's ability Unburden and makes it stronger and less susceptible to priority moves such as Sneasel's Ice Shard. Close Combat is Hitmonlee's most reliable STAB move and, thanks to the defense drops after use, allows Hitmonlee to gain the Unburden boost should it find itself in a situation where it cannot set up with Curse. Knock Off not only provides amazing utility for Hitmonlee's team, but it also allows Hitmonlee to hit Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Xatu, Dhelmise, and Decidueye for super effective damage. Stone Edge allows Hitmonlee to hit Pokemon such as Golbat and Vikavolt for heavy damage. Earthquake is a fine option over Stone Edge to hit Garbodor and Delphox for more accurate super effective damage. However, this leaves Hitmonlee more susceptible to Whimsicott, Golbat, and Vikavolt.

Set Details
========

Unburden doubles Hitmonlee's Speed after consuming its White Herb, allowing it to outpace every Pokemon in the metagame. White Herb restores the stat drops that come with using Curse, making it a reliable way to boost Hitmonlee's stats. Maximum Attack and Speed EVs in tandem with an Adamant nature allow Hitmonlee to hit as hard as possible without sacrificing Speed.

Usage Tips
========

Hitmonlee should be used as a wincon, so only bring it out late-game when its checks and counters are gone or weakened enough to the point where it can pick them off after it sets up. Avoid using Hitmonlee early- or mid-game; it only gets one chance to set up, and if it loses White Herb prematurely thanks to Close Combat, it won't get that chance again. Hitmonlee is very frail, so it cannot come in on most strong attacks. Despite this, Hitmonlee does force switches against Pokemon such as Incineroar, Vanilluxe, and Silvally-Steel, so use these opportunities to start setting up. Hitmonlee can use Curse twice to gain more power and bulk while still outspeeding Heliolisk, Sneasel, and Whimsicott. However, this leaves it outsped by Choice Scarf Passimian.

Team Options
========

Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom make great teammates for Hitmonlee because they can trap and potentially get rid of the Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon that give Hitmonlee problems. Special wallbreakers such as Alolan Exeggutor, Delphox, and Vikavolt can overwhelm physically defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Garbodor, and Vileplume for Hitmonlee. Slow pivots such as Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and Vikavolt can help bring Hitmonlee in on foes it can pressure such as Choice-locked Dark-type Pokemon. Incineroar and Silvally-Steel can also help Hitmonlee sponge hits from opposing Pokemon by using Intimidate or Parting Shot, making it easier for it to set up and sweep. Memento users like Whimsicott and Choice Scarf Gallade also help Hitmonlee take hits and can lure Slowbro and cripple it with Switcheroo or Trick. Pokemon like Seismitoad, Steelix, Rhydon, Garbodor, and Diancie are good entry hazard setters to pair with Hitmonlee because of their ability to set up entry hazards like Stealth Rock and Spikes. Toxic users such as Slowbro, Vaporeon, and Garbodor help put bulky Pokemon that resist Close Combat like Slowbro, Palossand, and Dhelmise on a timer. Fire-types such as Electrium Z Magmortar and Grassium Z Delphox also make for good teammates because they lure Slowbro in and deal with Comfey nicely.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Life Orb Set using Reckless with High Jump Kick can potentially work, as it has a huge amount of power without needing to boost; High Jump Kick OHKOes Steelix and Incineroar even after Intimidate, 2HKOes Diancie, and still puts in work against Slowbro and Xatu. However, this set is outclassed by Medicham, which has much greater firepower thanks to Pure Power and stronger coverage options against Slowbro, Xatu, and Garbodor. This set also wears down Hitmonlee more thanks to Life Orb recoil and High Jump Kick's nasty recoil if it misses or if a Ghost-type switches into it. Rapid Spin provides great utility for Hitmonlee's team, but other offensive entry hazard removers like Rotom, Whimsicott, and Decidueye have better offensive and defensive types than Hitmonlee. Poison Jab is an option on the main set to hit Pokemon such as Whimsicott and Comfey, considering Hitmonlee survives one Draining Kiss from Comfey. However, boosted Stone Edge and Close Combat do significant damage to Whimsicott. Likewise, Blaze Kick can also be used to hit Whimsicott and OHKO specially defensive Vileplume after Hitmonlee sets up.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-type Pokemon**: Slowbro is the best check to Hitmonlee because it can take any hit from Hitmonlee and proceed to set up with Calm Mind, recover its HP with Slack Off or Regenerator, or cripple Hitmonlee with Toxic or a Scald burn. Other Psychic-type Pokemon like Xatu, Slowking, and Sigilyph dissuade Hitmonlee from setting up, but a boosted Knock Off OHKOes these Pokemon.

**Poison-type Pokemon**: Vileplume, Garbodor, and Weezing take very little from Hitmonlee's Close Combat and can proceed to wear it down with Effect Spore, Rocky Helmet, Strength Sap, or Will-O-Wisp. However, Garbodor is not an issue if Hitmonlee uses Earthquake.

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Comfey stops Hitmonlee's sweep because it easily revenge kills Hitmonlee with Triage Draining Kiss. Whimsicott can stomach a boosted Stone Edge and OHKOes Hitmonlee in return with Moonblast. Diancie can potentially nail Hitmonlee with a Moonblast, but it takes a lot of damage from a +1 Close Combat.

**Ghost-type Pokemon**: Even if Hitmonlee does set up, it is easily handled by Ghost-types. Colbur Berry variants of Rotom, Dhelmise, and Palossand take little from Knock Off and proceed to cripple Hitmonlee with Will-O-Wisp or Toxic, Dhelmise can potentially KO Hitmonlee with Power Whip even if it uses Curse once, and Palossand can even recover its HP with Shore Up. Mismagius outspeeds Hitmonlee before a boost, can shut it down with Taunt, and KOes it with Dazzling Gleam, but Mismagius needs to be wary of a boosted Hitmonlee.

**Faster Pokemon**: If Hitmonlee doesn't set up, its middling Speed and poor bulk allow it to be easily revenged killed by faster Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Whimsicott, Mismagius, Delphox, and Aerodactyl as well as Choice Scarf users like Passimian and potentially boosted Pokemon such as Klinklang and Scrafty.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Hitmonlee is an interesting, albeit very flawed, set up sweeper in NeverUsed.
  • Its appeal comes from access to both Curse and the ability Unburden, which after consuming a White Herb makes Hitmonlee the fastest non Choice Scarfed Pokemon in the tier, making Hitmonlee a decent late-game sweeper in theory.
  • Its great natural Attack stat also allows Hitmonlee to hit very hard, especially after a boost.
  • Setting up with Curse, however, is easier said than done because not only is Hitmonlee very frail, but it is also vulnerable to the Psychic-, Flying-, and Fairy-types in NeverUsed, such as Slowbro, Sigilyph, and especially Comfey, which always forces Hitmonlee out thanks to Triage Draining Kiss.
  • If it doesn't set up, then Hitmonlee's middling speed means it is easily revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Passimian, Whimsicott, and Delphox.
  • Hitmonlee also only has one chance to sweep and if it looses its White Herb before it sets up, its potentially dead weight. this greatly limits its early- and mid-game presence, especially considering that you can't even use your strongest move reliably, since it'll consume White Herb.
  • Hitmonlee also cannot cover every threat it needs to in one moveset. eh this isn't too important. By the time you want to sweep, your checks and counters should be gone. It's fine to leave in, although I don't feel it's overly necessary.
  • It's because of these faults that Hitmonlee faces heavy competition not just as a setup sweeper from Pokemon like Incineroar, Klinklang, and Scrafty, but it also has to compete with its fellow Fighting-types Passimian and Medicham due to stronger coverage options, better bulk, or better abilities.
  • Definitely emphasize more that Slowbro's ubiquity makes it really hard for Hitmonlee to justify usage as a sweeper, as does Passimian's existence, since stacking two mono-Fighting-types is really not ideal. I would mention these two ideas as the first drawbacks: Slowbro commonness, and then competition with other Fighting-types.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Curse boosts Hitmonlee's Attack and Defense by one stage, then activates White Herb thanks to the Speed drop from Curse, turning Hitmonlee into a potentially dangerous late-game sweeper. This allows Hitmonlee to not only perform more consistently when sweeping, but it also gives it a small buffer from priority after boosting. I feel this can be more concise: Curse activates Unburden and makes Hitmonlee stronger and less susceptible to priority from x, y, and z.
  • Close Combat is the best STAB move for this set because while it has access to the stronger High Jump Kick, Close Combat is more reliable because the recoil from missing High Jump Kick is catastrophic. Close Combat can also allow Hitmonlee to gain the Unburden boost should it find itself in a situation where it cannot setup with Curse thanks to the defense drops after use. I don't think the mentions of HJK are really necessary; you can just note Close Combat is Hitmonlee's most reliable STAB attack, and I guess the activating Unburden bit is fine.
  • Knock Off not only provides amazing utility for its team, but it allows Hitmonlee to hit Slowbro and all of the Ghost-types in NeverUsed such as Rotom, Dhelmise, and Decidueye for super-effective damage. also removes Golbat's Eviolite fwiw
  • Stone Edge allows Hitmonlee to hit Pokemon such as Braviary, Sigilyph, Delphox, and Golbat for some powerful damage, allowing Hitmonlee to quickly remove these threats quickly
  • Poison Jab is primarily there to nail Comfey on the switch-in and Whimsicott, which Hitmonlee cannot dent otherwise. +1 252+ Atk Hitmonlee Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Whimsicott: 194-229 (74.3 - 87.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO not bad damage tbh, although the utility it has before setup is fine to keep here.
  • Blaze Kick is an option over Stone Edge if Vileplume gives Hitmonlee's team trouble. An entire 1 target is not worth a moves mention imo; Hitmonlee prefers the coverage offered by other moves much more.
  • Bullet Punch is an option for priority so that Hitmonlee can pick off Comfey, Whimsicott, or Ghost-types like Rotom and Mismagius. It could also use Mach Punch to hit a boosted Klinklang or Cinccino, but outside of that Mach Punch is usually inferior to Bullet Punch. bad, remove. Hitmonlee can't RK Comfey because Triage makes its priority +3, and outside of Comfey, Hitmonlee outspeeds all of these Pokemon after a Curse boost. Same logic applies to Mach Punch.
  • Earthquake is also a fine option over Stone Edge to hit Garbodor and Delphox for more accurate super-effective damage. note the drawbacks though -> Whimsicott and Golbat both take Hitmonlee on better if it lacks Stone Edge (you could even note Vikavolt, although I'm not sure if that's all too necessary)

Set Details
========

  • Unburden doubles Hitmonlee's Speed after consuming its White Herb or if its item gets removed by Knock Off, allowing it to outpace Pokemon such as Sneasel, Aerodactyl, and Accelgor as well as every Choice Scarf user in the metagame.
  • White Herb restores the stat drops that come with using Curse or Close Combat, making it a reliable way to boost Hitmonlee's stats.
  • Maximum Attack and Speed EVs in tandem with an Adamant Nature allow Hitmonlee to hit as hard as possible without sacrificing speed. It can still outpace Sneasel, Whimsicott, and Cinccino even if Hitmonlee decides to Curse again after the Unburden boost. I'm not too sure how important this second sentence is, but I'm not against it staying if you think it's good information.
  • A Jolly Nature can be used to speed tie with rival Hitmonlee before a boost, but it serves no other purpose beyond that. remove mention, Hitmonlee needs all the power it can get to try to muscle by shit like Slowbro and Palossand.

Usage Tips
========

  • Hitmonlee should only be used as a wincon, so only bring it out late game when Hitmonlee's counters and checks are gone or weakened enough so that it can pick them off after it sets up.
  • It only gets one chance to set up and if it loses White Herb prematurely thanks to Knock Off, Intimidate, Parting Shot, Close Combat, or some other random secondary effect, Hitmonlee can be in big trouble. frankly, I'd just mention avoiding using Hitmonlee much in the early- and mid-game because of this risk.
  • Hitmonlee is as sturdy as rice paper, so it cannot come in on most strong attacks. If it must switch in, then ,make sure to bring in Hitmonlee on Pokemon that can't do a lot of damage to it, such as Guzzlord after a Draco Meteor or a Choice-locked Pokemon that is locked into a resisted move such as Sneasel's Pursuit or Choice Scarf Houndoom, or use a slow pivot like Incineroar or Silvally-Steel so it can proceed to set up and sweep.
  • Using Curse twice is a good option if Hitmonlee still outpaces the opponent's entire team and it gives Hitmonlee more power.

Team Options
========

  • Dark-types such as Incineroar, Sneasel, and Houndoom help remove the Psychic- and Ghost-types that resist Close Combat. Sneasel and Houndoom in particular can use Pursuit to further pressure these Pokemon. imo you could mention Pursuit trappers as their own point and then have other Dark-types in this one, but that's up to you.
  • Pokemon that can overwhelm defensive answers to Hitmonlee like Slowbro, Vileplume, or Garbodor, such as Whimsicott, Incineroar, Slowbro, Delphox, or Sigilyph, make good teammates for Hitmonlee. make this point about special wallbreakers, and I would phrase the sentence like "special wallbreakers like x, y, and z can overwhelm physically defensive Pokemon like x, y, and z for Hitmonlee"
  • Entry hazards also help Hitmonlee sweep by providing important chip damage to opposing Pokemon. Pokemon like Seismitoad, Steelix, Rhydon, Garbodor, or Diancie are good entry hazard setters to pair with Hitmonlee.
  • Toxic users such as Slowbro, Vaporeon, and Garbodor help put bulky Pokemon that resist Close Combat like Slowbro, Palossand, and Dhelmise under a timer.
  • Slow pivots such as Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and Vikavolt can help bring Hitmonlee in on an opponent it can pressure such as Choice-locked Dark-type Pokemon. Incineroar and Silvally-Steel can help Hitmonlee sponge hits from opposing Pokemon by using Intimidate and Parting Shot, respectively.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Hitmonlee can also run a set with Fake Out and Unburden with a Normal Gem to immediately get the speed boost from Unburden. This set isn't very effective since Hitmonlee is still vulnerable to priority moves and isn't hitting as hard as it could with Curse. this is imo laughably bad due to lack in power.
  • Another Unburden set can utilize Endure and Reversal with Liechi Berry to boost Hitmonlee's Attack after it takes a hit. However, this set is incredibly susceptible to priority moves and it is hard to control when the Liechi Berry will activate. I almost think this should be removed, but the tier isn't exactly full of priority, so I will concede it staying.
  • All-out offensive sets using a Life Orb or Choice Scarf and Hitmonlee's other ability Reckless to power up High Jump Kick seems appealing thanks to Hitmomlee's naturally good Attack and decent Speed. This is generally inadvisable because not only are such sets outclassed by Passimian or Medicham thanks to better bulk, better movepools, and access to U-turn, but spamming High Jump Kick is dangerous considering Ghost-types like Rotom, Dhelmise, and Decidueye are very common. outclassed by Medicham and Passimian to the extent I don't think it's worth an OO mention.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-type Pokemon**: Because Poison-types resist Fighting-type moves, Vileplume, Garbodor, and Weezing take very little from Hitmonlee's Close Combat and they can proceed to wear down Hitmonlee with Rocky Helmet, Effect Spore, Strength Sap, and Will-O-Wisp, respectively.

**Psychic-type Pokemon**: Psychic-type Pokemon also resist Fighting-types, so they can easily come in on a Close Combat. Slowbro in particular isn't afraid of Hitmonlee because it can take a hit and proceed to either set up with Block or Calm Mind, or it can cripple Hitmonlee with Toxic or a Scald burn. Sigilyph and Delphox outspeed Hitmonlee before a boost and easily dispatch of it with Psychic STABs. They do need to be careful of coming in on a boosted Stone Edge or Knock Off, however. I'd make this the first C&C and emphasize Slowbro even more; it's the main reason Hitmonlee is bad.

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Comfey is without a doubt the biggest roadblock to Hitmonlee's sweep if it lacks Bullet Punch because it easily revenge kills Hitmonlee with a Triage boosted Drainig Kiss. Diancie, Whimsicott, and Aromatisse also don't take that much from Hitmonlee's moves and proceed to either set up in its face or they can proceed to revenge kill Hitmonlee with powerful Moonblasts. Remove Bullet Punch Hitmonlee mention. Feel free to address Poison Jab as a means of dissuading Fairy-types from directly switching into Hitmonlee though. Also fwiw Diancie takes a fuck ton from +1 Close Combat, so maybe make it the last mention in its own sentence, addressing that it can revenge kill Hitmonlee, but it doesn't want to take a boosted hit.

**Ghost-type Pokemon**: Even if Hitmonlee doesn't setup, it is easily handled by Ghost-types. I feel like you meant to say "even if Hitmonlee DOES set up" Colbur Berry variants of Rotom and Palossand take little from Knock Off and proceed to pivot out with Volt Switch, cripple it with Toxic or Will-O-Wisp, or can recover their HP with Shore Up in Palossand's case. Mismagius outspeeds Hitmonlee before a boost and can shut it down with Taunt. Then it can remove Hitmonlee with Dazzling Gleam. Mismagius needs to be wary of a boosted Hitmonlee, though. Rotom is definitely more focused on burning a boosted Hitmonlee than just pivoting out with a weak Volt Switch.

**Faster Pokemon**: If Hitmonlee doesn't set up, then its middling speed and poor bulk allows it to be easily revenged killed by faster Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Whimsicott, Vivilon, Mismagius, Delphox, and Aerodactyl, Choice Scarf users like Passimian, and potentially boosted Pokemon such as Klinklang, Vivilon, and Scrafty. Hitmonlee is also very vulnerable to being revenged by priority moves such as Sneasel's Ice Shard, Medicham's Bullet Punch, Decidueye's Shadow Sneak, and especially Comfey's Draining Kiss. remove Vivillon from the list of naturally faster Pokemon just to avoid a long list.

  • move pjab here, mention blaze kick since hitting whims and plume is at least worth a mention

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-type Pokemon**: Psychic-type Pokemon also resist Fighting-types, so they can easily come in on a Close Combat. Slowbro in particular isn't afraid of Hitmonlee because it can take a hit and proceed to either set up with Block or Calm Mind, recover its HP with Slack Off or Regenerator, or it can cripple Hitmonlee with Toxic or a Scald burn. They do need to be careful of coming in on a boosted Stone Edge or Knock Off, however. just focus on slowbro here imo, give other psychics a brief mention but knock deals with them p nicely, but slowbro should def be emphasized

**Poison-type Pokemon**: Because Poison-types resist Fighting-type moves, Vileplume, Garbodor, and Weezing take very little from Hitmonlee's Close Combat and they can proceed to wear down Hitmonlee with Rocky Helmet, Effect Spore, Strength Sap, and Will-O-Wisp, respectively. mention that garbs vunerable to eq

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Comfey is without a doubt the biggest roadblock to Hitmonlee's sweep if it lacks Bullet Punch because it easily revenge kills Hitmonlee with a Triage boosted Drainig Kiss. Whimsicott and Aromatisse can either set up in its face or they can proceed to revenge kill Hitmonlee with powerful Moonblasts, but they are dissuaded from switching in if Hitmonlee carries Poison Jab. Diancie can potentially nail Hitmonlee with a Moonblast, but it takes a lot of damage from a +1 Close Combat. remove mention of bullet punch, comf dkiss still goes first bc its in a higher priority bracker

**Ghost-type Pokemon**: Even if Hitmonlee does setup, it is easily handled by Ghost-types. Colbur Berry variants of Rotom and Palossand take little from Knock Off and proceed to cripple it with Toxic or Will-O-Wisp, or can recover their HP with Shore Up in Palossand's case. Mismagius outspeeds Hitmonlee before a boost and can shut it down with Taunt. Then it can remove Hitmonlee with Dazzling Gleam. Mismagius needs to be wary of a boosted Hitmonlee, though.

**Faster Pokemon**: If Hitmonlee doesn't set up, then its middling speed and poor bulk allows it to be easily revenged killed by faster Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Whimsicott, Mismagius, Delphox, and Aerodactyl, Choice Scarf users like Passimian, and potentially boosted Pokemon such as Klinklang, Vivilon, and Scrafty. Hitmonlee is also very vulnerable to being revenged by priority moves such as Sneasel's Ice Shard, Medicham's Bullet Punch, Decidueye's Shadow Sneak, and especially Comfey's Draining Kiss.

Thank you for the constructive feedback, Espeonage. I know I need to work on not writing so much fluff. Still sort of new to writing analyses and any feedback is good feedback for me. :)

I've implemented everything in your analysis. It's also written up and ready for that final check! :)

[OVERVIEW]

Hitmonlee is an interesting, albeit very flawed, set up sweeper in NeverUsed. Its appeal comes from access to both Curse and the ability Unburden, which after consuming a White Herb makes Hitmonlee the fastest non Choice Scarfed Pokemon in the tier, making Hitmonlee a decent late-game sweeper in theory. However, despite a naturally high attack, Hitmonlee has trouble breaking through typical Fighting resists such as Garbodor, Vileplume, and especially Slowbro. Hitmonlee also faces heavy competition as a Fighting-type from Passimian and Medicham, which are either stronger than Hitmonlee, have better coverage options, or can pivot with U-turn. Hitmonlee also only has one chance to sweep and if it looses its White Herb before it sets up, its potentially dead weight, especially considering that it can't even use its strongest move reliably because it will consume its White Herb. If it doesn't set up, then Hitmonlee's middling speed and poor bulk means it is easily revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Passimian, Whimsicott, and Delphox.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Curse activates its Unburden ability and it makes Hitmonlee stronger and less susceptible from priority moves such as Sneasel's or Piloswine's Ice Shard or Shadow Sneak from Decidueye. Remove the Decid and Pilo mentions, Sneasel is enough. Close Combat is Hitmonlee's most reliable STAB move and it can also allow Hitmonlee to gain the Unburden boost should it find itself in a situation where it cannot setup with Curse thanks to the defense drops after use. Knock Off not only provides amazing utility for its team, but it allows Hitmonlee to hit Psychic-types like Slowking, Xatu, and Sigilyph, and Ghost-types like Dhelmise and Decidueye for super-effective damage. Stone Edge allows Hitmonlee to hit Pokemon such as Golbat and Vikavolt for some powerful damage. Earthquake is a fine option over Stone Edge to hit Garbodor and Delphox for more accurate super-effective damage. However, this leaves Hitmonlee more susceptible to Whimsicott, Golbat, and Vikivolt.

Set Details
========

Unburden doubles Hitmonlee's Speed after consuming its White Herb, allowing it to outpace every Pokemon in the metagame. White Herb restores the stat drops that come with using Curse or Close Combat, making it a reliable way to boost Hitmonlee's stats. Maximum Attack and Speed EVs in tandem with an Adamant Nature allow Hitmonlee to hit as hard as possible without sacrificing speed. It can still outpace Sneasel, Whimsicott, and Cinccino even if Hitmonlee decides to Curse again after the Unburden boost. Remove the Cinccino mention, its not all that relevant of a mon.

Usage Tips
========

Hitmonlee should be used as a wincon, so only bring it out late game when Hitmonlee's counters and checks are gone or weakened enough so that it can pick them off after it sets up. Avoid using Hitmonlee early or mid-game; it only gets one chance to set up and if it loses White Herb prematurely thanks to Close Combat, Hitmonlee won't get that chance again. Hitmonlee is as sturdy as rice paper, so it cannot come in on most strong attacks. Despite this, Hitmonlee does force switches against Pokemon such as Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and Steelix, so use this opportunity to start setting up. Hitmonlee should be cautious about coming in on Rhydon since it can do some significant damage to Hitmonlee while it sets up, but it can also come in and set up. Using Curse twice is a decent option if Hitmonlee still outpaces the opponent's entire team and it gives Hitmonlee more power. When does it get the chance to, and is there anything notable (I want you to say passimian) that outruns it after 2 curses.

Team Options
========

Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom make great teammates for Hitmonlee because they can trap and potentially get rid of the Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon that give Hitmonlee problems. On the same note, Dark-type Pokemon in general such as Incineroar and Guzzlord can also get rid of these Pokemon. Special wallbreakers such as Alolan Exeggutor, Delphox, and Vikivolt can overwhelm physically defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Garbodor, and Vileplume for Hitmonlee. Memento users like Whimsicott and Choice Scarf Gallade also help Hitmonlee sponge hits easier as well as lure and cripple Slowbro with Trick or Switcheroo. Entry hazards also help Hitmonlee sweep by providing important chip damage to opposing Pokemon. Pokemon like Seismitoad, Steelix, Rhydon, Garbodor, or Diancie are good entry hazard setters to pair with Hitmonlee. Toxic users such as Slowbro, Vaporeon, and Garbodor help put bulky Pokemon that resist Close Combat like Slowbro, Palossand, and Dhelmise under a timer. Slow pivots such as Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and Vikavolt can help bring Hitmonlee in on an opponent it can pressure such as Choice-locked Dark-type Pokemon. Incineroar and Silvally-Steel can help Hitmonlee sponge hits from opposing Pokemon by using Intimidate and Parting Shot, respectively. Making it easier for Hitmonlee to set up. Fire types such as Electrium Z Magmortar, Delphox, and Swords Dance Incineroar also make good teammates because not only do they lure Slowbro in, but they also deal with Comfey nicely.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Another Unburden set can utilize Endure and Reversal with Liechi Berry to boost Hitmonlee's Attack after it takes a hit. However, this set is incredibly susceptible to priority moves and it is hard to control when the Liechi Berry will activate. A Life Orb set using High Jump Kick/ Knock Off/ Rapid Spin/ and Mach Punch or Stone Edge can be a good set to use since it provides good role compression against more offensive teams. Mach Punch picks off Sneasel, Steelix, and Klinklang, Rapid Spin and Knock Off provide great utility, and such a set still puts in work against Slowbro and Xatu. However, this set is outclassed by Medicham, which has much stronger firepower thanks to Huge Power and it has stronger coverage options against Slowbro, Xatu, and Garbodor. This set also wears down Hitmonlee more thanks to Life Orb recoil and High Jump Kick's chance to miss. Poison Jab is an option on the main set to hit Pokemon such as Whimsicott or Comfey. Note that you live a hit from Comfey from full. However, Stone Edge and Close Combat at +1 does do significant damage to Whimsicott. Likewise, Blaze Kick can be used to nail Vileplume. While also hitting Whimsicott, also note that it OHKOs specially defensive Vileplume after setting up.

With respect to the middle section: I'd like you to briefly talk about Reckless and why/how it should be used and the drawbacks. Then, in a seperate sentence afterwards talk about Rapid Spin.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-type Pokemon**: Slowbro is the best check to Hitmonlee because it can take any hit from Hitmonlee and proceed to either set up with Block or Calm Mind, recover its HP with Slack Off or Regenerator, or it can cripple Hitmonlee with Toxic or a Scald burn. Other Psychic-type Pokemon like Xatu, Slowking, and Sigyliph disuade Hitmonlee from setting up, but a boosted Knock Off OHKO's these Pokemon.

Garbodor is not an issue if Hitmonlee uses Earthquake.

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Comfey stops Hitmonlee's sweep because it easily revenge kills Hitmonlee with a Triage boosted Draining Kiss. Whimsicott and Aromatisse can either set up in its face or they can proceed to revenge kill Hitmonlee with powerful Moonblasts, but they are dissuaded from switching in if Hitmonlee carries Poison Jab. I'd change this to a note that they take a lot from Stone Edge. Diancie can potentially nail Hitmonlee with a Moonblast, but it takes a lot of damage from a +1 Close Combat.

These three sentences should become one.

Thank you, quziel. I went ahead and implemented everything. I will say that I was a tad hesitant to add Passimian as things Hitmonlee outspeeds after two Curses because that's only true if Passimian isn't holding a Choice Scarf, or if Hitmonlee is Jolly. I was wondering if you meant Heliolisk.

Anyway, I implemented what you said and trimmed it a bit. Hope it's okay.

Using Curse twice is a decent option if Hitmonlee still outpaces the opponent's entire team and it gives Hitmonlee more power. Hitmonlee has the opportunity to set up twice against Pokemon like Sneasel, Decidueye, or Miltank. " Hitmonlee still outpaces Heliolisk, Sneasel, Whimicott, and non Choice Scarf Passimian after two Curses. " I meant that you get outsped by scarf pass after 2 curses, as the current writing doesn't really make it clear that you might not want to curse twice. rewrite as: "Hitmonlee can use curse twice to gain more power and bulk, and still outspeed Heliolisk, Sneasel, and Whimsicott, however this leaves it outsped by Choice Scarf Passimian."

A Life Orb Set using Hitmonlee's other ability Reckless with High Jump Kick can potentially work, as it provides good role compression; (RC and ASC) High Jump Kick OHKO's OHKOes Steelix and Incineroar even after an Intimidate, 2HKO's 2HKOes Diancie, and still puts in work against Slowbro and Xatu. However, this set is outclassed by Medicham, which has much stronger firepower thanks to Huge Power and it has stronger coverage options against Slowbro, Xatu, and Garbodor. This set also wears down Hitmonlee more thanks to Life Orb recoil and High Jump Kick's nasty recoil if it misses, especially if a Ghost-type switches into it. Other Psychic-type Pokemon like Xatu, Slowking, and Sigyliph disuade dissuade Hitmonlee from setting up, but a boosted Knock Off OHKO's OHKOes these Pokemon.

**Poison-type Pokemon**: Because Poison-types resist Fighting-type moves, Vileplume, Garbodor, and Weezing take very little from Hitmonlee's Close Combat and they can proceed to wear down Hitmonlee with Rocky Helmet, Effect Spore Effect Spore, Rocky Helmet, Strength Sap, and Will-O-Wisp, respectively. Garbodor is not an issue if Hitmonlee uses Earthquake.

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Comfey stops Hitmonlee's sweep because it easily revenge kills Hitmonlee with a Triage boosted Drainig Draining Kiss. Whimsicott and Aromatisse can either set up in its face or they can proceed to revenge kill Hitmonlee with powerful Moonblasts Moonblast, but they are dissuaded from switching in on a +1 Stone Edge. Diancie can potentially nail Hitmonlee with a Moonblast, but it takes a lot of damage from a +1 Close Combat.

Mismagius outspeeds Hitmonlee before a boost and can shut it down with Taunt then it can and remove KO Hitmonlee with Dazzling Gleam, but Mismagius needs to be wary of a boosted Hitmonlee.

**Faster Pokemon**: If Hitmonlee doesn't set up, then its middling speed and poor bulk allows allow it to be easily revenged killed by faster Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Whimsicott, Mismagius, Delphox, and Aerodactyl, as well as Choice Scarf users like Passimian, (RC) and potentially boosted Pokemon such as Klinklang, Vivilon Vivillon, and Scrafty. [OVERVIEW]

Hitmonlee is an interesting, albeit very flawed, set up setup sweeper in NeverUsed. Its appeal comes from access to both Curse and the ability Unburden, which, (AC) after consuming a White Herb, (AC) makes Hitmonlee the fastest non-Choice Scarfed (AH) Pokemon in the tier. However, despite a naturally high attack Attack, Hitmonlee has trouble breaking through typical Fighting resists Fighting-resistant Pokemon such as Garbodor, Vileplume, and especially Slowbro. Hitmonlee only gets one chance to sweep and if it looses loses its White Herb before it sets up, it is potentially dead weight, limiting it to being a late game sweeper. If it doesn't set up, then Hitmonlee's middling speed and poor bulk means it is easily revenge killed by faster Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Passimian, Whimsicott, and Delphox. This is why Hitmonlee finds itself outclassed as a Fighting-type by Passimian and Medichsm Medicham.

Moves

Curse activates its Hitmonlee's Unburden ability ability, Unburden, and it makes Hitmonlee it stronger and less susceptible from to priority moves such as Sneasel's Ice Shard. Close Combat is Hitmonlee's most reliable STAB move and, (AC) thanks to the defense drops after use, (AC) it can also allow allows Hitmonlee to gain the Unburden boost should it find itself in a situation where it cannot setup with Curse thanks to the defense drops after use. Knock Off not only provides amazing utility for its Hitmonlee's team, but it allows Hitmonlee to hit Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Xatu, Dhelmise, and Decidueye for super-effective super effective damage. Stone Edge allows Hitmonlee to hit Pokemon such as Golbat and Vikavolt for some powerful heavy damage. Earthquake is a fine option over Stone Edge to hit Garbodor and Delphox for more accurate super-effective super effective damage. However, this leaves Hitmonlee more susceptible to Whimsicott, Golbat, and Vikivolt.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Hitmonlee should be used as a wincon, so only bring it out late game late-game when Hitmonlee's counters and checks checks and counters (Subjective change, but "checks and counters" is applied basically site-wide whereas counters and checks just sounds odd) are gone or weakened enough so that to the point where it can pick them off after it sets up. Avoid using Hitmonlee early or mid-game; it only gets one chance to set up and if it loses White Herb prematurely thanks to Close Combat, Hitmonlee won't get that chance again. Hitmonlee is as sturdy as rice paper very frail, so it cannot come in on most strong attacks. Despite this, Hitmonlee does force switches against Pokemon such as Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and Miltank, so use this opportunity these opportunities to start setting up. Hitmonlee can use Curse twice to gain more power and bulk, (RC) and still outspeed Heliolisk, Sneasel, and Whimsicott. However, (AC) this leaves it outsped by Choice Scarf Passimian.

Team Options
========

Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel and Houndoom make great teammates for Hitmonlee because they can trap and potentially get rid of the Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon that give Hitmonlee problems. Special wallbreakers such as Alolan Exeggutor, Delphox, and Vikivolt can overwhelm physically defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Garbodor, and Vileplume for Hitmonlee. Slow pivots such as Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and Vikavolt can help bring Hitmonlee in on an opponent foes it can pressure such as Choice-locked Dark-type Pokemon. Incineroar and Silvally-Steel can help Hitmonlee sponge hits from opposing Pokemon by using Intimidate or Parting Shot, making it easier for Hitmonlee to sweep. On that note, Memento users like Whimsicott and Choice Scarf Gallade also help Hitmonlee take hits easier as well as lure and cripple Slowbro with Trick or Switcheroo. Pokemon like Seismitoad, Steelix, Rhydon, Garbodor, or and Diancie are good entry hazard setters to pair with Hitmonlee because of thier their ability to set up entry hazards like Stealth Rock or and Spikes. Toxic users such as Slowbro, Vaporeon, and Garbodor help put bulky Pokemon that resist Close Combat like Slowbro, Palossand, and Dhelmise under a timer. Fire types such as Electrium Z Magmortar, Delphox, and Swords Dance Incineroar also make for good teammates because not only do they lure Slowbro in, (RC) but they also and deal with Comfey nicely.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Rapid Spin provides great utility for Hitmonlee's team, but other offensive entry hazard removers like Rotom, Whimsicott, and Decidueye have better offensive and defensive types than Hitmonlee. Poison Jab is an option on the main set to hit Pokemon such as Whimsicott or Comfey, considering it survives one Draining Kiss from Comfey. However, Stone Edge and Close Combat at +1 does significant damage to Whimsicott. Likewise, Blaze Kick can also be used to hit Whimicott and OHKO Specially Defensive Vileplume at +1 after it sets up.

Checks and Counters
===================

Hitmonlee is also very vulnerable to being revenged by priority moves such as Sneasel's Ice Shard, Medicham's Bullet Punch, Decidueye's Shadow Sneak, and especially Comfey's Draining Kiss.

Toxic users such as Slowbro, Vaporeon, and Garbodor help put bulky Pokemon that resist Close Combat like Slowbro, Palossand, and Dhelmise under on a timer. Fire-types such as Electrium Z Magmortar, Delphox, and Swords Dance Incineroar (qc: I guess Colbur Berry Bro can switch into the pivot set, but I'm not too sure about this example. I'd rather you just left it at Elec Z Mortar and then maybe specified like Grass Z Delphox) also make for good teammates because they lure Slowbro in and deal with Comfey nicely.

A Life Orb Set using Reckless with High Jump Kick can potentially work, as it provides good role compression (I have no idea what this role compression is. Murdering all of these Pokemon isn't exactly role compression imo. I would honestly just say it has lots of power without the need to boost, and then you can list all of these damage rolls); High Jump Kick OHKOes Steelix and Incineroar even after Intimidate, 2HKOes Diancie, and still puts in work against Slowbro and Xatu. However, this set is outclassed by Medicham, which has much greater firepower thanks to Pure Power and has stronger coverage options against Slowbro, Xatu, and Garbodor. This set also wears down Hitmonlee more thanks to Life Orb recoil and High Jump Kick's nasty recoil if it misses,(RC) especially or if a Ghost-type switches into it. Rapid Spin provides great utility for Hitmonlee's team, but other offensive entry hazard removers like Rotom, Whimsicott, and Decidueye have better offensive and defensive types than Hitmonlee. Poison Jab is an option on the main set to hit Pokemon such as Whimsicott and Comfey, considering it Hitmonlee survives one Draining Kiss from Comfey. However, boosted Stone Edge and Close Combat do significant damage to Whimsicott. Likewise, Blaze Kick can also be used to hit Whimicott Whimsicott and OHKO specially defensive Vileplume after Hitmonlee sets up.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-type Pokemon**: Slowbro is the best check to Hitmonlee because it can take any hit from Hitmonlee and proceed to either set up with Block (block isn't really a setup move, though you could just make the mention into Z-Block if you wanna) or Calm Mind, recover its HP with Slack Off or Regenerator, or cripple Hitmonlee with Toxic or a Scald burn. Other Psychic-type Pokemon like Xatu, Slowking, and Sigyliph Sigilyph dissuade Hitmonlee from setting up, but a boosted Knock Off OHKOes these Pokemon.

**Poison-type Pokemon**: Vileplume, Garbodor, and Weezing take very little from Hitmonlee's Close Combat and can proceed to wear down Hitmonlee it down with Effect Spore, Rocky Helmet, Strength Sap, or Will-O-Wisp,(RC) respectively. However, Garbodor is not an issue if Hitmonlee uses Earthquake.

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Comfey stops Hitmonlee's sweep because it easily revenge kills Hitmonlee with a Triage-boosted (AH) Triage Draining Kiss. Whimsicott and Aromatisse can either set up or proceed to revenge kill Hitmonlee with Moonblast, but they are dissuaded from switching in on a +1 Stone Edge (qc: no, Whimsicott does not run any setup moves of its own, and Aromatisse is irrelevant in the current meta. reword this to address how Whimsicott can stomach boosted Stone Edge and OHKOes in return with Moonblast). Diancie can potentially nail Hitmonlee with a Moonblast, but it takes a lot of damage from a +1 Close Combat.

**Ghost-type Pokemon**: Even if Hitmonlee does set up, it is easily handled by Ghost-types. Colbur Berry variants of Rotom and Palossand take little from Knock Off and proceed to cripple Hitmonlee with Toxic or Will-O-Wisp Will-O-Wisp or Toxic (keeps the lists parallel), and Palossand can even recover its HP with Shore Up. Mismagius outspeeds Hitmonlee before a boost and ,(AC) can shut it down with Taunt,(AC) and KO Hitmonlee KOes it with Dazzling Gleam, but Mismagius needs to be wary of a boosted Hitmonlee. (qc: tbh surprised you didn't mention Dhelmise alongside the two colbur ghosts; power whip is almost a guaranteed ohko even if hitmonlee curses once)

**Faster Pokemon**: If Hitmonlee doesn't set up, its middling speed Speed and poor bulk allow it to be easily revenged killed by faster Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Whimsicott, Mismagius, Delphox, and Aerodactyl as well as Choice Scarf users like Passimian and potentially boosted Pokemon such as Klinklang,(RC) Vivillon,(RC)(Vivillon is naturally faster) and Scrafty. Hitmonlee is also very vulnerable to being revenged by priority moves such as Sneasel's Ice Shard, Medicham's Bullet Punch, Decidueye's Shadow Sneak, and especially Comfey's Draining Kiss. (qc: the only one of these that is all that is actually all that threatening is Comfey's Draining Kiss, and you mention that earlier. the next most threatening one does like 41 max lol)

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Despite this, Hitmonlee does force switches against Pokemon such as Incineroar, Rhydon, and Silvally-Steel, so use these opportunities to start setting up. Hitmonlee can use Curse twice to gain more power and bulk while still outspeeding Heliolisk, Sneasel, and Whimsicott. However, this leaves it outsped by Choice Scarf Passimian.

Team Options
========

Damn, you do GP too, Rabia? You're doing everything here. Lol.

I also can't believe I forgot to update this for the recent changes. My bad, dude. Should have checked it myself so you didn't have to do all the extra QC stuff.

Anyway, I went ahead and implemented everything. This is technically done, but I don't want to change the title and status until you do your double check.'
