Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Drifloon won't work, even with max speed (which needs 200 EVS iirc) you still only speed tie with Drillbur. Most Drillbur cary Shadow Claw or Rock slide anyways which can OHKO Floon.
Not sure exactly what we can do since Drillbur is kind of like Excadrill in LC.
Maybe Tank Koffing? He's got usable Special Attack and a nice Special Move Pool, not to mention it can threaten Drillbur/Any other physical attacker with a Will-o-Wisp, not to mention that he walls them.
Maybe a set like this (Probably should be tweaked, as I am awful at making sets)
Other Viable Special Moves Koffing gets (bold are STAB moves):
Dark Pulse Sludge Bomb
Flamethrower
Shadow Ball
Fire Blast Clear Smog
I just gave it BoltBeam coverage, but whatever works. As for the EVs, I was trying to make it offensive as possible and hope that the Evolite + some defensive EVs would gives it enough bulk to work with. Will-O-Wisp is to make Drillbur and most other physical attackers useless. Pain Split is his only recovery move.
I'm all for Shell Smash Omanyte or TIRTOUGA. <==Has Aqua Jet. Fucks Drilbur. Great synergy between the two. Tirtouga is also THE MOST ADORABLE POKEMON EVER CAN WE USE IT PLEASE?

I actually like the idea of Tirtouga! Maybe a set like this?
Tirtouga (F) @ Life Orb / Oran Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 216 Atk / 12 Def / 76 SpD / 180 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA) / Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Shell Smash
- Waterfall / Aqua Tail (10 more BP, 10 less acc)
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet
Well hmm. Is Water/Rock good coverage? I can see Ferroseed being a problem. And Frillish (Unless it can't survive a +2 Stone Edge). It gets 12 Speed with Jolly, 11 without so it's kind of slow either way but 17 Atk without a boosting nature is pretty great! +2 Aqua Jet always OHKOs Drilbur without Evio (Didn't calc it with Evio) even without Life Orb, but it might need LO to do more damage to walls like Frill. Not sure what else to say, but it has great synergy with Eggy like Omanyte does, and lures out grass types, electric types, maybe even Staryu. Scarfers mostly outspeed it even at +2 (14 speed scarfers don't, though!) so eggy can use them to set up on.
Edit: I'm not good at making sets so feel free to change this one drastically if needed! Btw Tirtouga was Blara's idea, I was just suggesting a set because I liked his idea :3
OK, so after some consideration and testing, and deliberation with some other people, we have come up with a team that we feel is quite adequate and covers all the conditions of the CCAT so far.
This is where you come in. This team is pretty good, but it does have some weaknesses, which I will go over later, and we need your help to fix them, this is a CCAT afterall. Now, this is the second last step of the CCAT process, after this we must right a killer RMT. If you wish to participate in that effort, contact me on IRC.
The team needed some coverage versus fighting types and also a bit more muscle, BIG TUFF TAILLOW helps with this.
Larvesta (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 236 HP / 156 Def / 116 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Morning Sun
- Flare Blitz
- Will-O-Wisp
- U-turn
Larvesta is actually incredible. With Eviolite and Morning Sun it has incredible utility and survivability. This is particularly effective when paired with Flare Blitz (OMG IT DOES SO MUCH). Will-o-Wisp and Flam Body really make it a very good counter to most physically based pokemon.
With Larvesta, spin support became 100000% necessary. Staryu is THE best offensive spinner in the metagame and also makes for a nice little F/W/G core with Larvesta and Exeggcute.
Munchlax (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 236 Atk / 4 Def / 236 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Frustration
- Pursuit
- Fire Punch
- Curse
The rest of the team does very well against the physical spectrum, but it was quite weak on the special side. This checks stuff like Gastly and Magnemite, and is also pretty TUFF.
Bronzor @ Eviolite Trait: Levitate EVs: 220 HP / 4 Atk / 148 Def / 4 SAtk / 68 SDef / 16 Spd Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd) - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - Psychic - Hidden Power [Ice]
We needed something to help with Sand and also set up hazards. Bronzor does that and also provides great presence on the team. It has some offensive power and checks a lot of stuff, whilst also being our go to mon.
Despite having good old Munchy, this team has some trouble versus Gastly (GDI HYPNOSIS). I’m considering getting rid of curse for something like Sleep Talk or Protect in order to help with this.
In summary, please test this team, whilst Elevator Music and I have done some testing, it is certainly not extensive, and there are definitely weaknesses to this team. (IT NEEDS TO BE PERFECT). So please give it a go, and post your findings/improvements here. Admittedly, this is a difficult team to use, with many nuances, but give it a go!
Guts is probably much better than Scrappy. I've never found myself in a position where I've wanted to Frustration a Gastly etc, but it'd be nice to be able to switch in on status moves and not be completely buttfucked.
EDIT: also my bad but you can fit another 36 EVs into Exeggcute's Special Defense
So after battling Ray Jay, we both agreed that Munchlax needs to go.
However, without Munchlax this team is easily swept by Gastly.
So, he saw my Stunky and liked it, so here it is; [Original version by Chieliee]
I think I'm going to agree with Darkamber here and say at Mienfoo would be good in the final slot because, if it carries toxic, it can effectively shut down both. On that note, croagunk might be an even better choice since it's good versus most fighting types and can handle Chinchou with eviolite due to water absorb. I don't have the numbers on the latter but for mienfoo,

While that's a fine suggestion, Frillish actually is handled pretty well as long as you don't catch an unlucky Will-O-Wisp.
Mienfoo is still a fantastic teammate, however. Toxic should be replaced with Taunt, as the team lacks a dedicated lead per se, and Larvesta loves not having Stealth Rock up. Hi Jump Kick and Knock Off should also be used.
While Mienfoo is a great teammate and all, the team can't have 7 members. The only spot I can see Mienfoo taking over without becoming extremely Gastly weak is the spot of Taillow, which is somewhat awkward because you lose a lot of speed desired by the offensive team. Either way, both Taillow and Mienfoo are adequate answers to Scraggy, so nothing is lost there.
Finally, after testing, Stunky does Munchlax's job better. The only Specially based mon that threatens the team at this point is Chinchou, who Munchlax can't repeatedly switch into without a healing move. Either we need to move to Rest / Sleep Talk / Frustration / Pursuit, or we need to move to Furai's stunky set. I prefer the latter.
Tl;dr: Test Mienfoo over Taillow some more, replace Munchlax with Stunky imo.
watch smokan bro??
Sucker Punch is simply awesome, it finishes off so many fast threats like Drifloon, Drilbur (when weakened), Ponyta and more. Crunch could be an option, which is where I am going to now
That probably would be the best, Crunch probably does more to Bronzor than Fire Blast, but Fire Blast's 30% burn is so sweet and comes in handy a lot. Still, the burn rate doesn't seem important when Crunch hits by far harder, and when we have Larvesta.
Guts over Scrappy on Taillow I guess, this could be useful.
Could you guys try Gunk over munchlax for me, I dont have time or PO atm. Something like Sub / Sucker Punch / Vacuum Wave / Filler @eviolite idk but I feel like gunk solves most of our problems.
I don't think we are Gastly weak at all atm, there is really no problem since Munch is soooo good. I have not had trouble with Chou or Frillish or Lileep either, but if you guys insist there is a problem then I guess we should fix it!
