Makuhita

[Overview]

Outclassed somewhat by more dangerous Fighting-types such as Scraggy, Makuhita will rarely be a popular choice for most Little Cup teams. It is reduced to being a bench warmer most of the time, since it cannot pose a major threat to the opponent without significant support. Still, Makuhita has access to Belly Drum, a move that no other Fighting-type has, making it quite unique. Belly Drum quadruples Makuhita's Attack stat, giving it the chance to pull off a sweep. This is easier said than done, however, as Makuhita's low Speed and flimsy defenses make it vulnerable to opposing priority. Still, Makuhita can be a pretty useful Pokemon if given the right support, and should always be given a thought when looking for a Fighting-type to use on your team.

[SET]

move 4: Bullet Punch / Brick Break

ability: Thick Fat
nature: Careful

[SET COMMENTS]

With Makuhita's feeble defenses and mediocre Speed, it isn't muscular enough to actually be a threat to anyone without assistance, meaning it can just run a support set for helping a more potent teammate. STAB Force Palm does a decent amount of damage to most threats, and has a nifty chance of paralysis that can cripple the opponent. However, Toxic can serve as a replacement to Force Palm if the chance of paralysis which the former offers is not needed, chipping away at the opponent's health and crippling walls such as Gligar who lack Immunity. Whirlwind enhances Makuhita's utility, foiling the attempts of sweepers to set up while also shuffling the opponent's team and stacking up residual damage. Knock Off is a great move to have considering the ubiquity of Eviolite, and thus makes a teammate's sweep easier. There are two options for the last slot. Bullet Punch provides useful priority and can be useful for picking off weakened opponents, but Brick Break provides a powerful STAB move that also shatters any screens in play.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EV spread ensures that Makuhita can withstand most attacks and dish out damage in return. Thick Fat grants Makuhita useful resistances to Fire- and Ice-type moves, allowing it to take on threats such as Houndour and Snover more easily. Since Makuhita functions best under Trick Room, a bulky Pokemon that can set up the field effect partners very well with it. Bronzor comes to mind immediately, as it can set up Trick Room with ease thanks to its great bulk, while also dealing with the Psychic- and Fighting-type threats which trouble Makuhita.

[SET]
name: Trick Room Sweeper
move 1: Belly Drum
move 2: Close Combat / Cross Chop
move 3: Bullet Punch
move 4: Ice Punch
item: Eviolite / Oran Berry
ability: Guts
nature: Brave
evs: 180 HP / 196 Atk / 36 Def
ivs: 0 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Though Makuhita can't sweep by itself without support, it does have access to Belly Drum, which sends its Attack stat skyrocketing from a measly 16 to a jaw-dropping 64! This kind of power is more than enough for Makuhita to sweep STAB; Close Combat will destroy anything that doesn't resist it, and is Makuhita's most powerful move. Cross Chop can be used if the drop in defenses resulting from each use of Close Combat is an issue, but bear in mind that it is inaccurate. Bullet Punch gives Makuhita the ability to muscle through faster threats once it has set up, dealing massive damage if not OHKOing most threats. Ice Punch rounds out Makuhita's coverage, Flying-types with ease.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EV spread is almost identical to the first set, with the only differences being the removal of the Speed EVs and usage of a 0 Speed IV to ensure that Makuhita outruns most other threats when Trick Room is in play. Guts ensures that a burn won't cut short Makuhita's sweep, and is thus preferred over Thick Fat. There are two options for an item. While Eviolite will give Makuhita the bulk to take priority attacks, Oran Berry will give it a form of recovery, and also activates when Belly Drum is used, forming a potent combo with the move. Again, Bronzor is an excellent partner for Makuhita, resisting all of Makuhita's weaknesses and setting up Trick Room.

[Other Options]

Makuhita's small movepool doesn't give it too many other options top work with. Fake Out can be used to render the opponent useless for a turn, and can be used over Bullet Punch or even with it, but Makuhita has trouble finding a moveslot for both. Counter can be used to net a surprise KO on physical attackers, but Makuhita just doesn't have the physical bulk to put it to good use.

[Checks and Counters]

Makuhita's low Speed and poor defenses make it very easy to check. Flying-types such as Taillow and Rufflet make an easy meal of Makuhita, OHKOing with their STAB attacks. The same goes for Psychic-types such as Abra, though if Trick Room is in effect, these checks will have to take at least one hit before going for the KO.

Belly Drum should not be used outside of Trick Room, Makuhita is just too slow. Bullet Punch doesn't cut it.

TR Belly Drum Sweeper
Belly Drum
Close Combat / Cross Chop
Bullet Punch
Ice Punch
@ Eviolite / Oran Berry
Guts
Brave
196 Atk / 180 HP / 36 Def / 36 Sp.Def
0 Spe

And then, there's the support set, which Makuhita can do very well due to Thick Fat and good support movepool.

Support
Force Palm / Toxic
Whirlwind
Knock Off
Bullet Punch / Brick Break
Eviolite
Thick Fat
Careful
180 HP / 196 Def / 116 Sp.Def

Don't use Force Palm and Toxic (or tspikes support) together, since you don't want to paralyze something you need to Toxic.

Makuhita can run a Toxic Orb set, since other Guts fighters Timburr and Machop don't have Fake Out, and Tyrogue sucks.

I'd actually put the Support set first, as many more teams need a bulky wall than a TR sweeper. And setting up in TR is gimmicky enough.

0 speed ivs on the TR set to be as slot as possible.

Remove the Cross Chop thing in counters, that's not where it goes. It should go in the comments of sets where Cross Chop is used.

-Toxic will limit Makuhita's sweeping unless it has Guts
-Burn status will render Belly Drum useless which is bad unless it has Guts
-Scraggy, Timburr, and Meinfoo outclasses Makuhita because they are able to learn Drain Punch
Scraggy has no priority, different typing that comes with an additional priority weakness, and different abilities. Mienfoo has a different ability too, and is really too fast for TR. Neither Mienfoo nor Timburr get Ice Punch. None of them at all get Close Combat. And none of them at all get Belly Drum, which means it actually isn't outclassed at all...at Belly Drumming.

A. Guts is the only option on that set. B. That's still 32 attack!

Once that's all done,

Make the EV Spread 180 HP / 196 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SpD on the Belly Drum set like Darkamber suggested, I'm sure you just copied it wrong but figured I'd mention it again.

Again, Darkamber pretty much covered everything like usual. The support set was actually pretty cool.

As new generations appear, the infamous Makuhita has become a shadow of others that have taken over its fame and glory. Makuhita has become the "bench warmer" of the team since it cannot effectively be a threat to the opponent without significant support. Still, Makuhita possesses the move, has access to Belly Drum, a move that no other Fighting-type has, which makes making Makuhita a unique pokemon. With Belly Drum, it increases its quadruples Makuhita's Attack stat, by 300% allowing Makuhita to sweep an entire team even those who resist its moves. However, the its low speed and flimsy defenses isn't worth it thus make Makuhita too vulneable and weak very vulnerable to opposing priority. But However, Makuhita should still be in the back of your head when building a team can still be useful to some teams, since it can offer good support, brushing away many incoming threats.

With Makuhita's feeble defenses and mediocre speed, it isn't muscular enough to actually be a threat to anyone without assistance, so therefore it can only run a support set which can remove any irritating opponents. Force Palm can do decent damage and has a chance of paralysis that can cripple the opponent, while Toxic can constantly erode the opponent's health as time passes by. Whirlwind will brush off any threats that your team can't handle, and Knock Off is a reliable move that can permanently remove the foe's held item espicially knocking off the common Eviolite thus decreasing their defenses. Now the last slot has There are two options for the last slot., Bullet Punch provides priority and can be useful for revenge kills, but or you can choose Brick Break that provides a useful STAB attack, doing decent damage and also shattering any screens in play.

[Additional Comments]

The EV spread is to ensures that Makuhita can withstand any incoming most attacks, while boosting Makuhita's Attack to do more damage in addition of increasing its bulk to do decent damage to the opponent. With Thick Fat, any incoming Fire- or Ice- type moves are weakened, allowing Makuhita ensuring it to survive any Flare Blitz or Blizzard. To obtain the best results of this set, it is recommended to have Trick Room activated, which gives Makuhita a better chance to execute do its job. Bronzor is the appropriate a good partner for Makuhita, since it can set-up set up Trick Room and resists both Psychic- and Flying- type moves that can pose a problem for Makuhita.

As said before, Makuhita can't sweep by itself without support, and the only way to effectively support itself is by using Belly Drum. With Belly Drum, Makuhita's Attack stat is boosted from a measly 16 to a whopping 64! This kind of power is more than enough to sweep an entire team. Next, Close Combat is a powerful move that provides STAB and destroys anything that is in Makuhita's path that doesn't resist it, while the other option, Cross Chop, also provides STAB and removes takes away the defense decrease but in exchange of lower accuracy. Bullet Punch is a deadly move when combined with Belly Drum, giving Makuhita priority and that can annihilate almost anything. The last move is Ice Punch, which covers Makuhita's fear of Flying-types and also hitting hard on OHKOes Gligar.

[Additional Comments]

The EV spread shown above is similar to the first set, but the zero EVs on Speed the 0 Speed IVs guarantee Makuhita to will hit first when Trick Room is in play. Guts hinders renders the burn status useless and increases Makuhita's Attack instead of lowering it. Furthermore, Eviolite will ensure Makuhita to survive in battle from incoming attacks survives most neutral assaults, while Oran Berry activates right after Belly Drum is used, restoring almost all of Makuhita's health. Again, Bronzor is the best an excellent partner for Makuhita, resisting all of Makuhita's weaknesses and setting up Trick Room for it can resist all of Makuhita's weaknesses and is able to set-up Trick Roomp.

[Other Options]

Due to Makuhita's shallow movepool, it doesn't have many options to choose from. The only reliable option for Makuhita is to replace Bullet Punch with Fake Out, allowing Makuhita to deal extra damage to the opponent at the first turn.

[Checks and Counters]

The most simple way to counter Makuhita is to summon use a Flying-type, in battle because every Flying-type can outspeed Makuhita, assuming that outside of Trick Room isn't activated, and even pokemon who are slower than it with Trick Room has if they don't, they still have a chance of defeating to defeat Makuhita due to its lacking offenses. Psychic types are also a threat to Makuhita since it has no way to counter it significantly damage them. Misdreavus is immune to its most powerful move and its bulky enough to survive its any attack, while 2HKOing Makuhita with Shadow Ball.

Compared to Vanillite, this was slightly better, but I guess it could still improve some more. Don't get disheartened; just keeping doing your best and things will turn out well.

And another thing - be careful with your tags. [SET], [SET COMMENTS], and [ADDITIONAL COMMENTS] are always capitalized. And add a space between the beginning of a section and thhat particular tag. The exception to the latter rule is the [SET] section, of course.

Since I almost rewrote the whole thing, this analysis will need a third GP Check.

Ok thank you. I'll try my best. =/

Also

However, Toxic can serve as a replacement to Force Palm if the chance of paralysis which the latter offers is not needed, chipping away at the opponent's health and crippling walls such as Gligar.
Toxic would only benefit Gligar since it has poison heal.(I think) So is it ok if I change Gligar to Mantyke?

EDIT: Updated. Sorry for the delay. My computer was acting weird.

Honestly this needs some work. Mentioning 1 teammate in AC is crap. Please include teammates that work well with makuhita and can eliminate Pokemon that wall it.
