[OVERVIEW]
Miltank serves as a Stealth Rock setter in the NU metagame. What differentiates it from other setters such as Steelix and Rhydon is its access to reliable recovery in Milk Drink, helping it keep Stealth Rock up more reliably in the long run. Furthermore, Miltank's Thick Fat makes it a reliable check to Ice- and Fire-type Pokemon like Vanilluxe, Sneasel, and Delphox. Its naturally solid bulk and good Speed stat mean it can also serve as a reliable answer to the likes of Comfey, Guzzlord and Vikavolt. Miltank's offensive stats and movepool are quite lackluster, though, so it is very passive. Furthermore, Xatu puts a complete stop to Miltank thanks to its Magic Bounce while also chipping it with Rocky Helmet if MIltank uses Seismic Toss.

Moves
========
Stealth Rock is the main reason to use Miltank, helping to chip at the opposing team. Seismic Toss gives Miltank reliable damage output and ignores its bad offensive stats. Milk Drink provides reliable recovery, helping Miltank's longevity and defensive utility throughout the game. Toxic means Miltank isn't complete setup fodder for the tier's Ghost-types like Decidueye and Mismagius and helps pressure Pokemon like Incineroar, Slowbro, and Comfey.
Set Details
========
Leftovers furthers Miltanks longevity. The EV spread maximizes Miltank's special bulk while letting it outspeed Jolly Incineroar and Adamant Samurott and Decidueye to hit them with Toxic or Seismic Toss in a pinch. Thick Fat makes Miltank a reliable check to Fire- and Ice-types like Vanilluxe, Delphox, and defensive Incineroar.
Usage Tips
========
Use Miltank to set Stealth Rock throughout the game. Aim to set it up as early as possible to get an early advantage. If you face a Xatu, try to pressure it offensively or trap it with a Pursuit trapper if you are running one. Miltank can also check common special attackers like Vanilluxe, Guzzlord, and Comfey on a reliable basis. Keep Miltank healthy with Milk Drink so it can't be broken by the likes of Delphox and Slowbro. Try to hit threats to your team with Toxic to chip them. Use Seismic Toss to damage opposing Stealth Rock setters and other Pokemon without reliable recovery.
Team Options
========
Miltank usually finds its way onto more defensive builds due to being too passive for offensive teams. Pursuit trappers such as Sneasel, Houndoom, and Absol are capable of trapping Xatu and help Miltank get Stealth Rock up against it. Answers to Fighting-types such as Slowbro, Golbat, Xatu, and Vileplume pair well with Miltank to fix its weakness to them. Conversely, Pokemon like Decidueye, Dhelmise, and Vikavolt appreciate Miltank's ability to reliably check most Fire- and Ice-types. Ferroseed or Garbodor can form an entry hazard stacking core alongside Miltank.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Heal Bell is an option to take advantage of Miltank's role as a cleric, but that makes it even more passive. Body Slam can paralyze offensive threats. Thunder Wave can also be used as a more reliable option, but both these mean Miltank loses to every Water-type with recovery and acts as complete setup fodder for the tier's Ghost-types. Sap Sipper Miltank is also an option to check the likes of Decidueye and Dhelmise, but it's inferior to Thick Fat because MIltank can make better use of a resistance to Fire and Ice.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Xatu**: Thanks to Magic Bounce, Xatu can't get poisoned by Miltank and bounces Stealth Rock away. Most Xatu also run Rocky Helmet, which damages Miltank when using Seismic Toss, essentially invalidating it.
**Taunt**: Taunt users like Comfey, Mismagius, Golbat, and Magmortar stop Miltank dead in its tracks.
**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types like Passimian, Gallade, and Medicham can take down Miltank easily.
**Ghost-types**: Decidueye and Mismagius can use Miltank as setup fodder even if Miltank does have Toxic, while Rotom and Dhelmise can take advantage of it by removing its entry hazards or getting free attacks off.
**Toxic-resistant Pokemon**: Pokemon like Bulk up Scrafty and Klinklang can freely set up on Miltank, while Sigilyph and Vileplume get free turns to dish out attacks because they don't care about Toxic.
**Toxic users**: If Miltank gets badly poisoned by the likes of Slowbro and Mega Audino, its defensive reliability gets severely compromised.
