Yeah, it's kinda funny.Ironically, the Red Orb greatly increases Special Attack, while the Blue Orb greatly increases Attack. Strange.
Also /ds grass type, weather ball, all can do wonders when you're looking for Red Orb 'mons.

EQ becomes STAB thanks to Swampert's secondary typing.Sorry for the double post but...
Politoed @ Swampertite
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD or SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly / Naive Nature
- Belly Drum
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake / Brick Break / Hidden Power [Grass]
Belly Drum for setup, Waterfall for STAB, Ice Punch for coverage, EQ for more coverage. Brick Break is specifically for Ferrothorn. HP Grass is for Quagsire.
+6 252 Atk Politoed Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory in Rain: 408-481 (122.1 - 144%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+6 252 Atk Politoed Brick Break vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 402-474 (114.2 - 134.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
4 SpA Politoed Hidden Power Grass vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 248-292 (62.9 - 74.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Unaware Clefable walls it hard, but this seems terrifying.
Actually, Swampert doesn't gain any types upon Mega-ing, so why would Politoed?EQ becomes STAB thanks to Swampert's secondary typing.
Even Primal Groudon is deaded. lol. Checking it seems to be best left to priority. Or to Unaware Clefable. Timid nature Red Orb Roserade can shut it down by switching in on a predicted Waterfall, but dies if Politoed predicts and uses Ice Punch or Earthquake.Sorry for the double post but...

Not true, actually. Mega Swampert's typing doesn't change compared to standard Swampert, so Pokémon that Mega Evolve with Swampertite don't get any type changes either.EQ becomes STAB thanks to Swampert's secondary typing.

I assumed that any secondary typing applied. In my mind that opens up more strategical combinations of bases+mega stones, but I can see why you would keep it simpler. I misread the OP.Not true, actually. Mega Swampert's typing doesn't change compared to standard Swampert, so Pokémon that Mega Evolve with Swampertite don't get any type changes either.
If you want real sun-boosted wallbreaking power, there's a set I listed in the OP that hits even harder than that Hydreigon with its Fire STAB:Its time to break all the walls!
Hydreigon @ Red Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Superpower / Focus Blast
- Roost / Taunt / Earth Power
92/135/110/175/90/98
Dark / Fire
Oh baby. This thing simply destroys Stallmons with its good STABs in Dark and Fire, which are a really good STAB combo. Fire Blast in particular destroys everything in the Sun. Dark Pulse is your second STAB and a strong one at that. With Superpower you can try and bop the blobs. Focus Blast hits overall harder I think though. Last slot is a toss-up between Roost, Taunt, and Earth Power. All three of these are very useful.
On a more defensive side, here's Hippo
Hippowdon @ Red Orb
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Slack Off
- Whirlwind
- Earthquake
- Toxic / Stealth Rock / Hidden Power Fire
108/132/138/118/72/47
Ground / Fire
This set imho still competes with Groudon as a specially defensive Red Orb user, as Groudon has more SpDef and have Lava Plume. However, Hippo has reliable recovery on its side. Set is pretty easy to understand. Pretty neato stuff.
While it is stronger during the first turn, it quickly loses that power after sun goes away, so unless you have a dedicated Sun Team it doesn't work too well. Meanwhile Hydreigon doesn't need Sun Support and hits hard all the time.If you want real sun-boosted wallbreaking power, there's a set I listed in the OP that hits even harder than that Hydreigon with its Fire STAB:
Ninetales @ Houndoominite
Ability: Drought
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Nasty Plot
- Solar Beam/Dark Pulse
- Pain Split/Dark Pulse
73/76/115/111/110/120
Ability: Drought -> Solar Power
While its stats may look far worse, the comparison is clear:
252+ SpA Hydreigon (Red Orb) Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mew in Harsh Sunshine: 372-438 (92 - 108.4%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Solar Power Ninetales (Houndoominite) Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mew in Sun: 399-469 (98.7 - 116%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
And just in case that power isn't enough, you have Nasty Plot to let you hit even harder. Like this:
+2 252+ SpA Solar Power Ninetales (Houndoominite) Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 252 SpD Eviolite Chansey in Sun: 406-478 (63.2 - 74.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Boom.
True. Ninetales at least gets to set its own sun on top of benefiting from sun set by other things, but it's definitely true that Red Orb Hydreigon is generally a monster any time it comes in. Ninetales isn't likely to last long anyway though, since it's busy dealing Solar Power damage to itself the whole time (that is what Pain Split is for, but Houndoominite Ninetales really isn't very bulky by Ubers standards regardless). It basically bops something really, really hard once and then dies. Might be useful if your team is already running something with Red Orb though since you can't have more than one of any given Orb or Mega Stone. While it is stronger during the first turn, it quickly loses that power after sun goes away, so unless you have a dedicated Sun Team it doesn't work too well. Meanwhile Hydreigon doesn't need Sun Support and hits hard all the time.
It doesn't matter in this case because Infernape is Fire/Fighting, but if it was Fighting/Fire it would matter, because it would become a pure Fighting type.Infernape @ Lopunnite
Typing: shouldn't change as the ape already has Fighting
Blasphemy! The resist is ingnored! Making this an easy victory for zardkind.Eh, I'd stick with Fire Blast even in a 1v1 situation. In the off chance Blast Burn doesn't do it (a resist, say), you're hosed on that recharge turn.
Keep in mind that Altarianite Entei can't be Banded 'cause it's too busy holding Altarianite. That said, whether or not it's Altarianite Entei doesn't matter for the defensive calc since Altarianite gives a boost to Defence, not Special Defence. For Altarianite Entei, Stone Edge isn't a guaranteed OHKO. Not that it matters, since if it hits even once over the two turns of Charizard's Blast Burn + Recharge, you can simply Extreme Speed it if it survives. It doesn't hit any harder than Char Y in Standards...
252 SpA Red Orb Charizard Blast Burn vs. 4 HP / 252 SpD Slowbronite Blissey in Harsh Sunshine: 274-324 (42 - 49.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Blissey Seismic Toss vs. 0 HP Mega Charizard Y: 100-100 (33.6 - 33.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Red Orb Charizard Blast Burn vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Altarianite Entei in Harsh Sunshine: 271-319 (73 - 85.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Entei Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 402-474 (135.3 - 159.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Pretty easy defeat, if you ask me.
