Monotype AAA:
Council: Lax Yaksok all falls down

Hey mate! What if Zapdos had strong winds? SkarmDos core would be scarier, but sadly it doesn't. But, don't let your dreams stay dreams because in Monotype AAA you can do this! Almost all Pokemon can toy with almost any ability! Why Almost? Cause Banlist!

AAA Banlist+Monotype Banlist

1/5/2016: AAA Monotype has banned Slowbronite and Genesect, but kept Greninja and Charizardite X.

Anttya how will these new viability rankings go? Will they link to the old viability ranking, will everything be moved to this thread, or will it link to the strategy dex on the weebly site?

Also its really nice to have evertyhing in one thread, the only problam being my ipad is really laggy now rof

And i was wondering if this is the place to post the pokemon speeds. If it is ill start going through all the simple mons that run no or max speed once i get back onto my pc and probably link it to a pastebin or something

I'm pretty sure thats just the forums and the actual dex is still in the weebly site.
I've also just got my pc back but I cant find teh internets cord so I will be starting with teh speed tiers stuffs and base it off the 5 most used spreads for like everything above a certain usage in the sprite gallery and might upload it later today if I find teh cord.

This is the place to post speeds. Make sure you format them correctly.
This is the place to discuss the viability rankings.
This is the place to discuss the team/play style rankings.

I'm expecting chaos for the first little bit as we get things started and these new resources filled out, but then Antt and I will be posting to direct discussion.

edit: the dex itself is still on the website, but the contributions portion has been moved. Would love to see people contribute to that too!

Not sure if this is where this goes but here are a few pokemon
Mega Pinsir w/ the other base 105
508 / Mega Sharpedo / 105 / +Spe / 252 / +1
463 / Mega Sharpedo / 105 / Neutral / 252 / +1
339 / Mega Pinsir, Mega Sharpedo, Manectric, Lopunny, Zoroark / 105 / +Spe / 252 / 0
309 / Mega Pinsir, Mega Sharpedo, Manectric, Lopunny, Zoroark / 105 / Neutral / 252 / 0
Excadrill
604 / Excadrill / 88 / +Spe / 252 / +2
550 / Excadrill / 88 / Neutral / 252 / +2
453 / Excadrill / 88 / +Spe / 252 / +1
412 / Excadrill / 88 / Neutral / 252 / +1
302 / Excadrill / 88 / +Spe / 252 / 0
275 / Excadrill / 88 / Neutral / 252 / 0
Garchomp
499 / Garchomp / 102 / +Spe / 252 / +1
454 / Garchomp / 102 / Neutral / 252 / +1
333 / Garchomp / 102 / +Spe / 252 / 0
303 / Garchomp / 102 / Neutral / 252 / 0
263 / Garchomp / 102 / Neutral / 16 / 0
244 / Garchomp / 102 / Neutral / 92 / 0

And a playstyle ranking.
Balance Steel pretty much has everything. With many viable users of stealth rocks and Ferrothorn and Skarmory both being good users of spikes, combined with Bisharp and Doublade to stop hazard removal Steel has some of the best hazard controlling pokemon available in the metagame, with even the niche forretress getting toxic spikes making sticky webs the only unavailable hazard for Steel. It can even cover every single weakness with Heatran for fire, Skarmory for ground, and Doublade for fighting, not to mention it also gets extremely good priority in Scizor's Bullet Punch and Bisharp's sucker punch, and perhaps the best current trapper Magnezone. Steel is also home to pokemon with all around amazing attributes such as Lucario and Jirachi who can perform a vairity of roles, and Mega Aggron with the bulky offense crew, and scarf pokemon like Excadrill. However even though Steel has a pokemon for mostly everything it still has bad matchups to common types such as Fighting and the lesser used Fire, and single pokemon like Landorus Incarnate and Mega Charizard Y, and the lack of an insane special wall like Skarmory for physical defenses can be a big letdown. In return you get amazing matchups against Ice, Grass, and Fairy with a fair matchup against a majority of the metagame. Add to that the fact that those threats can be played around, and Steel's great amount of different pokemon let it accomplish what you need it to, and you have one of the better types in the metagame.

I will also put one (or a few) of my steel teams here but I'm considering waiting until after the bo3 minitour is done (or when I get rekt and finally leave) since balanced steel is one of my teams I'm using. Either way I'm not on my pc so I can only guess what I have for my evs and stuff etc.
Thanks for posting the speed tiers! I added +2 Adamant M-Sharpedo to that list and I didn't add those last two Garchomp spreads. They are just creeps on Base 70 'mons.
The goal with this is to get the general speed tiers down so people can see how much to creep when team building. If we include all the creeps for every 'mon then things will get cluttered.

Bug and Psychic speed tiers, everything "relevant" basically meaning everything above 5% usage for their respective types and including the 5 most used ev spreads for that pokemon with judgment used on whether an ev spread should be included or omitted. Also whenever a pokemon had the same base speed as another one I grouped them all together (why scarf espeon is w/ scarf lati twins) Notable includes are base 100 and base 80 trick room speeds, scarf espeon (I already had base 110s down so whynaut) and scarf alakazam (I actually dont know why i included that rof) and notable omitted ev spreads include 248 hp / 252 atk Pinsir (why is it at 11% rof). Both speed creeping Volcaronas are included and there are certain spots were there are two lines for the same speed since the different mons have different base speeds. Also included a bunch of neutral stuffs even if that pokemon mainly uses timid or jolly (lati twins again).
Spreads and stuff taken from http://monotypeps.weebly.com/sprite-gallery.html july stats

Well, that took some time to add x_x

I removed a couple the sets b/c things are going to get crowded:
  • +1 Alakazam, Celebi, Mew, Pinsir, Medicham, Gallade (scarves aren't really a thing for these 'mons)

  • 494 / Volcarona / 100 / Neutral / 46 / +2 (too similar to the 52 Spe EV +2 set, plus 46 evs isn't divisible by 4)

  • +2 Armaldo (it can't learn shell smash and rock polish isn't really a thing)

  • 403 / Heracross, Pinsir / 85 / +Spe / 252 / +1 (something is up w/ these?)

  • 378 / Crustle / 45 / Neutral / 252 / +2 (I'm gonna stick w/ the boosting nature for this guy. I don't want it taking up two slots)

  • 339 / Alakazam / 120 / Neutral / 252 / 0

You left M Alakazam in red :p and I'm pretty sure M Aerodactyl also runs max speed so that should probably move too
EDIT: Also the base 75s can be moves to their respective groups like klefki with uninvested etc
196 / Base 80s uninvested / 80 / Neutral / 0 / 0
can be used for most of the rest of the base 80 mons since a lot of them fit into that category except maybe shiftry etc.

I think that defining each specific playstyle and which playstyles you're looking for in the OP is worth mentioning (like Enoch's first thread), because new players may not be able to differentiate between 'bulky offense' and 'balanced' and having one of both can be confusing, and there are some teams that can be called both bulky offense and balanced. Having obscure sub-playstyles like 'balanced hazard stack steel' might also not be a good idea because they are just variants of the core playstyles and only a few very lucky types have the luxury of even having access to that playstyle (literally only Steel and perhaps Flying). Things like that belong in other places, like the team spotlight on the monotype site.

With that being said, I'll have nominate one:

Stall Water for A (could be S)

With the removal of an enormous threat in Mega Altaria, stall Water teams became insanely better as they no longer auto-lose to something that sets up on every Pokemon. Normal Water teams already have good match-ups, but Stall Water excels in this department as it can easily beat Electric and can sometimes beat Grass if played properly. As Water is one of the only types with an immunity core, it is quite easy to build a stall team as you just need Pokemon to support the immunity core of Sap Sipper Azumarill and Lanturn/Ground type. The addition of an unaware Pokemon in Quagsire, 3 great hazard removers in Empoleon, Starmie and Tentacruel and two clerics in Lanturn and Alomomola all make Stall Water unquestionably the best variant of stall that any type can perform in monotype. Few types have access to wall-breakers that break this core and Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir and Hoopa can seriously dent the core but can be dealt with.

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Def / 216 SpD

- Heal Bell

Quagsire @ Leftovers

- Recover

Azumarill @ Leftovers
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature

- Scald

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Defog
- Protect

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 148 SpD
Impish Nature

- Stealth Rock
- Roar

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 36 HP / 220 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature

If someone wants to write up the brief descriptions AFD is talking about that'd be awesome! If not, I'll get around to it later.

Edit: I'll add the more recent stuff soon.I'm on my phone right now.

I mean my team is basically hers but she changed lando for skarm and mandibuzz for gliscor... also gyarados is slightly difference. I really don't see what is gimmicky about my team at all. Maybe I should get glasses but I don't think that's the issue. If you think the EVs are weird I just hit the last jump number and put the rest in the other defense. Anyways I guess my help isn't needed so I'll probably just never post here again :/

Agree with the nom but the team seems really gimmicky - 4 things have toxic and the whole squad has scald AND toxic spikes. It seems very very very very redundant. Also what kind of a stall team has reliable recovery on only one Mon? And zapdos is back so that makes water even worse. If you supply a decent team, the nom seems good in theory, so maybe. But that team....
Also fix the grammar on your post; I don't think new players will understand it.

Stall water works very well in the meta. S may be a bit of a stretch, but, I'd definatley opt for A+ or A at the very least. His post was actually pretty good, idk what your complaining about. As for Zapdos, Quagsire hardwalls it pretty well, and Tenta can absorb toxic.

It has nothing to do with gaining popularity, I just think that scald on six mons, toxic on four and toxic spikes makes for a bad team. But you're right, I'll talk to Thimo, not you.

It does have a lot to do with getting popularity. Do you understand what stall is, and the fact that it's very reliant on status to work? He's gained #1 on a lot of occasions, and lately especially stall water has been getting a high amount of usage upper ladder. I'd reconsider what you just said.

There's a difference between reliance on status and redundancy. There's a difference between reliance on status and redundancy. There's a difference between reliance on status and redundancy. There's a difference between reliance on status and redundancy.
As you can see, convincing people may be key to driving a point home, but there's a point where it's just too much. And scaldx6 + toxicx4 + toxic spikes is well past that. Thimo must be a very good player to top with that; hats off to him.
And judging by the way you've been treating me like a novice and that novices are supposed to understand the teams, isn't there an issue if I can't understand it?

please stop hijacking this thread for your argument... the whole point of these rankings is to effectively gage the best and worst styles and pokemon available to the metagame. I have nominated a grand total of 3 pokemon and 1 playstyle, and felt that I could only do so after playing my team for 1 month straight, tweaking it as I go (moves, EVs and pokemon) before deciding on what I felt was the most successful. By doing this, I also learned what the team beats and what beats the team, and ultimately this led to a clear indication of rank for the team.

If you feel that your opinion is correct on a playstyle or pokemon, I welcome you to ladder with it for at least 40 games; this will make it very apparent if you are correct or not.

Also, waiting on Anttya or Sae to consider my rank changes for Nidoking / Ariados / Gengar on monopoison HERE

For a pokemon to be considered it must be over 5% usage for given pokemon for either type.
This chart takes into account the:
Top 2 most used speed spreads for each type.
All items that increase speed and are above 33% (1/3, rounded down) usage on either type. (Non boosted version will still be included even if a speed boosting item takes up over 78% of all items)
Any move that increases speed and is above 33% usage on given pokemon for either type.
Abilities that increase speed and are not weather related and are over 33% usage on a given pokemon for either type.
Abilities that increase speed and are weather related and are over 33% usage and with the appropriate weather ability setter being available to the type unless there is a recognized weather move user for the type, for either type.

Exceptions to these "rules" listed have been noted at the end of the list.

One note before it starts is that I did one thing differenty.
Instead of:
Number / Pokemon / Base / Nature / EVs / Boost / IVs [Reason]
I did:
Number / Pokemon (IV Reason) / Base / Nature / EVs / Boost / IVs
This was because certain pokemon might have the same base and use minimum speed for different reasons and it looks just a tad bit cleaner with one line instead of two, however the only 2 mons that actually did this are Gyro Ball Doublade and Min Speed Quagisire, and IDK if min speed Quag is actually for a purpose so it can probably be changed back if you dont like it.

Rotom-Form* : Any rotom form, excluding the original normal rotom.

Things I excluded:
72 Speed Gliscor, the 2 most used spreads are speed creeps so I went with the more popular one
Timid no speed Mandibuzz, why is this thing at 11.6% anyway
20 Speed Scrafty boosted (+1, +2), even with 2 boosts this thing is still super slow, so instead only the 252 adamant spreads have boosts, and even then +2 ties with +1 max jolly gyarados so its still pretty slow.
A lot of not a lot of speed including 4 speed and 16 speed etc.
fletchinder with 8 speed, instead used the 252 neutral version
can you add a section in the top that states something to the effect of using hidden power fire/any hidden power that requires 30 speed ivs makes you lose 1 speed point? From what i've been seeing 1 iv = 1 stat, and because of that i think it will kinda fill up the charts if every pokemon that runs hp fire has 2 rows for each different set

Things I included:
Choice Scarf (+1) Latios, one of those sets that people hear of, yet choice scarf is only 23.8% usage
Choice Scarf (+1) Espeon, it has no items above 33% usage, and its most used item is Choice Scarf at 25.4% usage
Choice Scarf (+1) Empoleon, scarf empoleon is cash

Things I kinda left out but still kinda put in:
245 speed 36 evs Jirachi, the actual set according to the usage has 32 evs however Celebi already runs 36 evs so i lopped them together, if you want to add it in then
244 / Jirachi / 100 / Neutral / 32 / 0

Things that still need to be done:
min speed mega swampert needs a tag, i assume its for the weather wars being able to rain dance last but idk for sure pls help ;~;
what is min speed quag for
what is min speed tangrowth for
what is min speed rhyperior for

tagging scpinion so he can add them c:

This is awesome SubMindRaikou!

I just want to make sure I c/p this correctly. This is meant to replace the current list, not be added to it, right?
