Turn on the DS and change the calendar date to match your seed time. Then change your DS clock to one minute (minus your seconds) before your seed time. So if your seed time is 13:19:15, you set the DS clock to 13:18 exactly, but don't hit A yet. Look at your external clock (which must have an accurate second hand -- or go find guides on Pikatimer). Wait for a convenient time you won’t forget, like when the second hand hits 00:00 at the top of the clock. Hit A on your DS. This lets your DS time get set. Now you have one minute to turn your DS off, turn it back on and enter the game environment again. At the end of your one minute, when the second hand rolls around to the top of the clock again, you hit A to start your Pokemon game and keep hitting A at your usual speed to get into the game with your usual seconds.
If you're using a clock, it's best to choose a second for your target time that is the same as your usual seconds getting into the game. So if you usually get into the game in 14 seconds, your target times should always be 14 seconds. If you are using Pikatimer, however, you can choose whatever seconds is convenient to you.
