[OVERVIEW]

Muk finds its place in NU as one of the strongest Poison-types in the tier. With decent offensive and defensive typing, special bulk, and Attack, Muk can take on some of the tier's biggest threats, such as Mega Audino, Sceptile, and Lilligant. Muk also has access to coverage moves, such as Focus Punch and Fire Punch, that allow it to do a number on some of its common switch-ins. Its abilities, Poison Touch and Sticky Hold, are also relatively useful; the former gives Muk a nice chance of poisoning the foe with contact moves, while the latter prevents it from losing its item. However, Muk is not as splashable as other wallbreakers because it struggles with the large majority of the physically offensive and defensive metagame. It also has a low Speed stat that forces it to take some hard hits before it can attack.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Gunk Shot is Muk's main STAB move, dealing a massive amount of damage when boosted by a Choice Band. Shadow Sneak's priority makes up for Muk's lackluster Speed stat and lets it hit or revenge kill frail Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Jynx and Rotom. Focus Punch can be used to land a heavy hit on Rock- and Steel-types such as Rhydon and Steelix that come in and try to wall Muk. Note that if Focus Punch fails on the first turn, Muk can still change moves, even with a Choice Band. Ice Punch is used to hit Ground- and Flying-types such as Claydol, Rhydon, and Archeops for super effective damage. Fire Punch is an option over Focus Punch, but Muk will then lose the ability to hit Rock-types for super effective damage. Explosion can be used over Ice Punch, just as a last ditch effort to break a wall down for Muk's teammates.

Set Details
========

A Choice Band increases Muk's wallbreaking prowess with an impressive boost to its overall power. Poison Touch is the preferred ability that gives Muk a 30% chance to poison an opponent with a contact move, whereas Sticky Hold allows Muk to become a nice Knock Off or Trick absorber. Adamant is the preferred nature, as it further increases Muk's power. Muk's EV spread allows it to outspeed Gourgeist-XL, and investing the rest in HP and Attack means it can hit as hard as possible while still having some defensive presence.

Usage Tips
========

Try to use Muk to pivot into certain special attacking threats such as Liligant, Sceptile, and Mega Audino, so that it can start launching strong attacks at anything that's in or tries to come in. Being Choiced with any Pokemon may take some prediction, so always try to deal a decent amount of damage to something that tries to switch-in whether Muk is using a STAB move or one of its coverage moves. Only use Focus Punch if you're expecting a switch to a Steel- or Rock-type, as losing a turn is crucial to Muk's overall effectiveness, if it fails. If using a Sticky Hold set, try to switch Muk into a predicted weak Knock Off from a passive user or Trick, as Muk is a nice absorber of both.

Team Options
========

Cleaners and sweepers such as Sceptile and Swellow make for good teammates, as they appreciate Muk's wallbreaking capabilities. Dark- and Water-types such as Shiftry, Skuntank, and Samurott make for good teammates as well since they help cover the Psychic- and Ground-type weaknesses that Muk has. Fighting- and Fire-types such as Hariyama and Magmortar are also great, as they can take out Steel-types such as Steelix and Klinklang so that Muk doesn't have to rely on Focus Punch to hit them hard. Rotom and Mismagius make for excellent teammates to handle strong physical attackers thanks to Will-O-Wisp, cover Muk's Ground-type weakness with Levitate, and deal with bulky Psychic-types that trouble Muk, such as Mesprit and Musharna. Clerics with Heal Bell such as Mega Audino and Lanturn are also useful to Muk, as they can heal a potential burn.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Assault Vest can be used to allow Muk to switch between any of its coverage moves without having to worry about being locked into something, but it doesn't pack as much of a punch as the usual set. Curse is an option if you want Muk to become a wincon due to its nice overall bulk, but this loses out on Muk's fantastic coverage options. Going mixed with Giga Drain and Fire Blast to hit the likes of Rhydon and Steelix is also an option, but it's generally less effective due to the lack of power Choice Band provides. Lastly, Memento can be used in the last slot as an effort to help a teammate setup with ease, but Muk usually has a hard time using it due to its low Speed.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Golurk can easily come in on Muk and set up Stealth Rock or KO it with a STAB Ground-type attack. Rhydon for one can take advantage of Muk by setting up a Swords Dance or Rock Polish.

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Mesprit, Xatu, and Jynx can easily KO Muk with a STAB Psyshock, though they can't really switch into any of Muk's Choice Band-boosted attacks.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types like Steelix and Kinklang are immune to Muk's main STAB move, Gunk Shot, so Muk may have to rely on predicting around them with Focus Punch or Fire Punch. Klinklang can also get a free opportunity to set up for a potential sweep if Muk is locked into the wrong move.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: With Muk's lackluster physical defenses, strong physical attackers such as Tauros, Archeops, and Kangaskhan don't have a hard time wearing it down.

**Other Poison-types**: Other Poison-types such as Garbodor and Weezing can take any attack Muk throws at them besides an Explosion and get a free turn to setup Toxic Spikes or spread status. Garbordor can set up layers of Spikes while also wearing Muk down easily with Rocky Helmet and Aftermath recoil, while Weezing can burn it with Will-O-Wisp.

Commenting because asked to on PS

You mention absorbing Knock Off throughout the analysis, but you also fail to mention that you actually take buttloads from most knock offs anyways. You are mainly absorbing baby Knock Offs from likes of support Clefairy, and never real Knock Offs from Fighting-types like Sawk / Hariyama, or STAB Knocks from something like Shiftry / Liepard.

Muk is high risk Pokemon because it's best way of dealing damage to any SR user is Focus Punch. I think it's very much worth mentioning in the Overview that Muk isn't something you can put on a team and expect results. Muk highly struggles with much of the physically offensive / physically defensive metagame and the Overview should address this. Special threats that exist bar Megadino and Lilli are just little too hard-hitting for Muk to switch into, as well.

Mention Garbodor in checks, as it soaks up attacks and gets easy spikes on it.

Instead of mentioning generic cleaners / sweepers like Charizard (idk how good DD zard is atm). I'd probably mention normal type cleaners like Specs Swellow that really loves getting that Focus Punch damage on Steelix.

Mention in usage tips that the Sticky Hold set is pretty good against Fighting-types that lack Earthquake due to taking less damage from Knock Off, so Hariyama and Primeape most of the time. I would also mention that Rotom and Mismagius make excellent teammates as they can deal with physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp, are immune to the Ground-type attacks that Muk hates, and can disrupt defensive Pokémon that could otherwise tank Muk's attacks (like Mesprit or Musharna) while Muk can deal with Mega Audino, which blocks their Hexes. Also mention in OO that a mixed set with Giga Drain and Fire Blast is another way of luring in threats like Steelix and Rhydon without relying on Focus Punch shenanigans, but it's generally less effective as an attacker due to the lack of Choice Band Gunk Shot.

Other than that seems good. QC 1/3

Overview
You're overselling Muk too much here. It's coverage moves are far from great; Shadow Sneak is weak and not the greatest to be locked into, Focus Punch has a horrible side effect, and Fire Punch isn't really all that strong either. It's abilities are not what I'd call fantastic either considering it's not the great at taking Knock Offs from Dark-types diminishing its usefulness, while Poison Touch's effect is a minor bonus to its attacks at best; it's not like it helps it vs the things that will be switching into Muk such as Steelix and Garbodor.

Choice Band
Don't mention Poison Jab here; the extra Poison chance is not worth missing out on 2HKOing Gourgeist-XL for instance. Also change the EV spread to 220 HP / 252 Atk / 36 Spe which lets Muk outspeed Gourgeist-XL. In usage tips, on your last point regarding Hariyama and Primeape, both do run Earthquake and Primeape doesn't even have Knock Off in the first place, so it seems weird seeing it mentioned with Hariyama in the same line anyway.

Checks and Counters

Go into more specifics in each of these sections. Mention how Rhydon and Steelix both set up Stealth Rock freely should Muk be locked into Gunk Shot. Gorlurk should be added because it takes little from Gunk Shot and is immune to Focus Punch, only fearing Ice Punch really. Rhydon can also use Muk to set up Rock Polish or Swords Dance as well. The Psychic-types you do list get nailed by Gunk Shot as well. Make sure to add Xatu is that section as well. For the Steel-types section, again list that a choice-locked Muk is a free opportunity for Klinklang to set up and potentially sweep. In strong physical attackers section, remove Sawk and add in Tauros and Archeops here. State that Garbodor uses to set up Spikes and wears it down if it's locked into a contact move with Rocky Helmet + Aftermath, while Weezing can burn it with Will-O-Wisp. Remove the last section because mentioning that a physical attacker is vulnerable to burns is obvious and arbitrary.

Overview:
  • Remove Clefairy from "some of the tiers biggest threats" and instead add Sceptile.
  • Remove Shadow Sneak from coverage options that allow Muk to damage common switch ins, as Gunk Shot hits Ghosts harder on the switch anyway and Sneaks utility is more so in picking off weakened threats.
Other Options:
  • Can you list some reasons as to why some of these options are often worse than the main set? For example AV loses out on the raw power of CB, Curse misses the coverage options, Muk is really slow to be using Memento so often it won't get a chance to get it off etc.
Checks and Counters:
  • This is nitpicky but for the Other Poison-types section make note that Garbodor and Weezing can take any hit Muk wants to throw at them besides Explosion. Considering it's a slash on the main set I feel like it's important enough to be made note of here.

Really solid work on this, 3/3 when implemented.

Here's an amateur GP check. I'm at my best on the sentence level, so expect most of my feedback to be centered on that.

[This sentence should probably be split into two, because it's very long and meandering right now. [The part beginning with "forcing..." is redundant with the bit immediately before it, so I'd recommend cutting one or the other. The marked cut is how I'd do it. Garbordor for one [Not really necessary in context, since you explain all the examples you present.] can set up layers of spikes while also wearing [Necessary to make the grammar work] Muk down easily with the use of Rocky Helmet and Aftermath recoil, while Weezing can burn it with Will-O-Wisp. [The edit I present is more concise, but it's correct as-is.]

Shiba this is super messy so lmk if you want a cleaner version, I gave Hektor comments on his check

Hektor overall nicely done, for stuff like cap / apostrophes / commas I would shorten the comment so it's a bit less cluttered. I personally just delete and rewrite the word so I don't have to add a comment but whatever works
also check out http://aglassoflemona.de/gp for a much more convenient way to do checks (it should be working on chrome)

[OVERVIEW]

Muk makes its place in NU as one of the strongest Poison-types in the tier.[Doesn't make sense to 'make its place', or to have NU and tier in the same sentence in multiple uses. "Muk defines itself as one of the strongest Poison-types in NU." is better] With decent offensive and defensive typing, special bulk, and Attack. [comma here] Muk can take on some of the tier's biggest threats, such as Mega Audino, Sceptile, and Lilligant. Muk also has access to coverage moves, such as Focus Punch, Fire Punch, and more, [Either add a third coverage move here and remove 'and more' (doesn't make sense for such as...and more), or switch to 'Focus Punch and Fire Punch'] that allow it to do a number on some of its common switch-ins. [I prefer 'Muk's access to coverage moves, such as Focus Punch and Fire Punch, allow it to...' It's more concise.] Its abilities in Poison Touch and Sticky Hold are also relatively decent. Poison Touch gives a nice chance of poisoning the foe with contact moves, while Sticky Hold allows Muk to keep its Choice Band. [Currently, the first sentence is rather empty and should be concatenated with the second, and 'abilities in' is awkward. Additionally, the second sentence implies poison touch poisons by muk's contact moves, and the sticky hold clause is awkward because you've switched the positive/negative of the action. I recommend 'Muk's abilities can also be useful; Poison Touch can poison foes that use contact moves, and Sticky Hold prevents Muk from losing its Choice Band.'] Though Muk does have some nice selling points, its weaknesses can really hurt its viability. For one, it's [Replacing everything before this with 'That being said, Muk is' is far more concise.] not as splashable [I don't know what this word means, but that's why I'm not on QC. If this is a technical term, OK, but if not then I recommend replacing it] as other wallbreakers because it struggles with a large majority of the physically offensive and defensive metagame. Muk also has a low Speed stat that forces it to take some hard hits before it can attack.

Gunk Shot is Muk's main STAB move, dealing a massive amount of damage when boosted by a Choice Band. Shadow Sneak's priority makes up for Muk's lackluster Speed stat and lets it hit or revenge [Revenge is encapsulated in 'hit'. It should be 'revenge kill' anyways. Delete.] frail Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Jynx and Rotom. Focus Punch can be used to land a heavy hit on Rock- and Steel-types such as Rhydon or Steelix that come in and try to wall [I prefer 'heavy hit on Rock- and Steel-type walls that are common switch-ins to Muk.'] Muk. Note that if Focus Punch fails on the first try, Muk can still change moves, even when Banded. Ice Punch is used to hit Ground- and Flying-types like Claydol, Rhydon, and Archeops for super-effective damage. Fire Punch is an option over Focus Punch, but Muk will then lose [I prefer 'miss' over 'then lose'] the ability to hit Rock-types for super-effective damage. Explosion can be used over Ice Punch, just as a last ditch effort to break a wall down for teammates.

Set Details
========

A Choice Band further increases Muk's wallbreaking prowess with an impressive boost to its overall power. Poison Touch is the preferred ability that gives Muk a 30% chance to poison an opponent with a contact move. Whereas [Comma prior to 'Whereas'. Can't start a sentence with that word.] Sticky Hold is the other option option that allows Muk to become a nice Knock Off or Trick absorber. Adamant is the preferred nature, ['The preferred nature is Adamant' is preferable here. I also prefer 'allowing Muk to hit harder' since 'increasing power' is not as specific] as it further increases Muk's power. Muk's EV spread allows it to outspeed Gourgeist-XL, and investing the rest in HP and Attack means it can hit as hard as possible while being as bulky as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Try to use Muk to pivot into certain special attacking threats such as Liligant, Sceptile, and Mega Audino, as it'll [This is actually an ambiguous pronoun. I recommend 'Muk pivots well into certain special attackers such as Liligant, Sceptile, and Mega Audino, following up with a strong attack.' and truncate the rest of the sentence, which is a little pointless] be able to launch a strong attack at anything that's in or tries to come in. Being Choiced with any Pokemon may take some prediction, so always try to deal a decent amount of damage to something. Only use Focus Punch if you're expecting a switch to a Steel- or Rock-type, as losing a turn is crucial to Muk's overall effectiveness if it fails. If using a Sticky Hold set, try to switch Muk into a predicted weak Knock Off from a passive user or Trick, as Muk is a nice absorber for both.

Team Options
========

Fighting- and Fire-types such as Hariyama and Magmortar are also great, as they can take out Steel-types such as Steelix and Klinklang so Muk doesn't have to rely on Focus Punch to hit them hard. Rotom and Mismagius make excellent teammates to handle strong physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp, cover Muk's Ground-type weakness with Levitate, and deal with bulky Psychic-types that trouble Muk, such as Mesprit and Musharna. Clerics with Heal Bell such as Mega Audino and Lanturn are also useful to Muk as they can heal a burn.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Assault Vest can be used to allow Muk to switch to any of its coverage moves without having to worry about being locked into something, but it doesn't pack as much of a punch as the usual set. Curse is an option if you want Muk to become a wincon due to its nice bulk overall, but loses out on Muk's fantastic coverage options.

===================

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Mesprit, Xatu or Jynx can easily KO Muk with a STAB Psyshock, though they can't really switch in to any of Muk's Choice Band-boosted attacks.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: With Muk's lackluster physical defenses, strong physical attackers such as Tauros, Archeops, and Kangaskhan don't have a hard time wearing Muk down.

**Other Poison-types**: Other Poison-types such as Garbodor and Weezing can take any attack Muk throws at them besides an Explosion and get a free turn setting up Toxic Spikes or spreading status.
