With World's 2010 right around the corner, Huy and I have decided to take things back to their roots and host a VGC tournament using the exact same rules as Worlds 2009. It was a much different game than this year's game. If you didn't have a chance to experience it, this is the perfect chance to give it a whirl!
NO UBERS FOR YOU! Tournament Rules:
~Matches are to be played 2v2 at level 50. This may be done via free battle or via autolevel.
~Each player may have 6 Pokemon, but may only bring 4 at a time into the WiFi room
~Matches will consist of a Best of 3 set of 2v2 battles
~Players are allowed to use up to 6 Pokemon and up to 6 items in one set. Meaning, You may use 4 Pokemon in match 1 and then you may switch in 2 subs for the following matches.
~Item clause - no two Pokemon may carry the same item
~Moves and Pokemon obtained over level 50 may NOT be used. (NO TYRANITAR, DRAGONITE)
~Double Elimination!!!
OFFICIAL 2009 VGC RULES:
Prizes for this tournament will be donated by Tyler422, andrea, and Huy. These will be determined later. If anyone else wants to donate prizes, feel free to do so!Battle Rules:
Each match is played using the Pokémon Communication Club Colosseum, found on the top floor of the Pokémon Center in Pokémon™ Platinum Version . The tournament will use the Double Cup rules set, with some additional restrictions.
* Each match will use the 2-on-2 format.
* Each Pokémon on a player’s team must be Level 50 or lower. The Pokémon Communication Club Colosseum does not have an auto-level feature, so Pokémon that are Level 51 or higher cannot be adjusted down to Level 50 and are ineligible for this competition.
* A player’s team may not contain two of the same Pokémon.
* Each Pokémon in a player’s party may use held items, though no two Pokémon in the party may hold the same item. Items allowed include held items from Pokémon™ Platinum Version and earlier video games, including Berries 1–64. The Soul Dew item may not be used.

Tournament Operation:
* A player wins by knocking out his or her opponent’s final Pokémon.
* If an attack knocks out both players’ last Pokémon, the player that used the attack loses the match. This includes the moves Explosion, Selfdestruct, Double-Edge, Volt Tackle, Flare Blitz, Take Down, Submission, Brave Bird, Wood Hammer, Head Smash, Struggle, Perish Song, and Destiny Bond. This also includes the Life Orb held item.
* If an environmental effect knocks out both players’ last Pokémon, the result of the match is a tie. This includes Hail, Sandstorm, or Sunny Day.
* If all remaining Pokémon are knocked out due to Stealth Rock or Spikes, the result of the match is a tie.
* If a Pokémon’s ability or held item results in all remaining Pokémon being knocked out, the result of the match is a tie. This includes Aftermath, Liquid Ooze, Rough Skin, Jaboca Berry, and Sticky Barb.
The deadline for matches is Wednesday, August 25.
That's plenty of time to get this match done! Contact your opponent and set up a time to battle! You must both post your results in here.
Activity posts are due by Saturday, August 21 in case subs need to be contacted. This shouldn't be necessary since round one is over, but the double elimination factor might ruin a couple pairings.
Good luck everybody!
