Project OU Next Best Thing - Cycle Last: Mega Latias (Voting)

Not sure if i'm too late to submit but
Firium Z

Tornadus-Therian @ Firium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- Heat Wave
- Defog
Inferno Overdrive has a 93.8% chance to OHKO that Shift Gear Magearna that thinks it can set up on you, also does a ton to other Magearna sets.(Knock off+ Heat Wave + Inferno Overdrive will KO standard assault Vest Magearna, which is nice). Heat wave is also helpful for dealing with Mega Scizor(81.3% chance to ko 248 hp/244 spdef impish after rocks with heat wave,) Ferrothorn(with Inferno Overdrive OHKO'ing, to nobody's surprise), Celesteela, and inferno overdrive has an 81.3% chance to OHKO the rare alolan Ninetales. It can also hit Kartana(and grasses like serp and offensive bulu if weakened) more reliably than hurricane without needing to use your Z move.
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Inferno Overdrive (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Magearna: 300-354 (99.6 - 117.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
0- Atk Tornadus-Therian Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 28-33 (7.7 - 9%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Heat Wave vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Magearna: 124-146 (34.1 - 40.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Inferno Overdrive (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Magearna: 226-268 (62.2 - 73.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Heat Wave vs. 248 HP / 244 SpD Scizor-Mega: 292-348 (85.1 - 101.4%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Inferno Overdrive (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 232+ SpD Ferrothorn: 448-528 (127.2 - 150%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Inferno Overdrive (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Ninetales-Alola: 340-400 (97.4 - 114.6%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

Cycle Ten - Victini

Victini is usually an overlooked pick due to some notable flaws of it, but I think it is still an intriguing Pokémon courtesy of its very wide movepool, typing, and offensive presence. It can be a decent alternative to Jirachi with some cool perks when running Choice Scarf, a powerful Choice Band wallbreaker with its V-Create destroying everything not resistant to it, and even a threatening late-game sweeper after a Z-Celebrate. As was stated before, Victini's movepool is amazing. Make use of it guys and invent some cool sets!

Victini @ Assault Vest
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Brick Break
- U-turn
- Bolt Strike

AV Victini is a nice underrated set as it can check a multitude of pokemon with its Moveset like Tapu Lele, Mega-Alakazam and Tornadus-Therian.
It can also come in rpretty safely on mons like Celesteela, Ferrothorn and it can also help against Magnezone. The Assault Vest helps it to come in safer into the
above mentioned mons like Mega-Alakazam and it can U-Turn out in the process to gain Momentum or just fire out an Attack like V-Create.
Dual screen archetypes are still rather popular, so I gave it Brick Break to dent away those annoying Screens (Veil) to make it able for its teammates to get past through
the opposing team easier without having to worry about the Dual Screens.
Bolt Strike helps against Tapu Fini and can heavily damage non boosted Mega-Gyarados, it also can get rid of Regular Gyarados, Bolt Strike can also help somewhat against Washtom as it is neutral
against it. The EVs are made to have some bulk in HP but also Jolly Nature with max speed - the rest 8 are put into attack to have a bit of power on this Victini.

Choice Specs Victini

Victini @ Choice Specs
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blue Flare
- Focus Blast
- Psyshock / Glaciate / U-turn
- Trick / Glaciate / U-turn

This set aims to take advantage of Victini's expansive special movepool to convert it in a threatening special breaker, and also as a lure of its common Choice Band set checks. Blue Flare and Focus Blast are mandatory, the former is a pretty strong Fire STAB with a decent chance to burn switchs-ins like Landorus-T, Garchomp and Mega Lati@s, while the latter, smacks Heatran and Tyranitar, having almost guaranteed the OHKO against offensive Heatran and CB/Mega Tyranitar, and 2HKOing AV Tyranitar.

The other moves are almost filler, but can be used to deal with specific threats. For instance, Psyshock have 12.5% chance to OHKO Toxapex after rocks and can chip away things like Chansey. On the other hand, Glaciate can OHKO Landorus-T, Garchomp and Gliscor on the switch, 2HKO Mega Latios and 3HKO Mega Latias. U-turn can be used to gain momentum, but it has limited use outside that, while Trick can be used to cripple switchs-in, but the loss in power could be bad. Other more obscure things are Energy Ball to OHKO Mega Swampert on the rain matchup, as almost nothing on the team can take a hit, and Pelipper is scared of Bolt Strike, and Ferrothorn of V-Create, also can hit Gastrodon for huge damage; while Thunderbolt can be used to deal with the extremely rare Mantine.

This set likes Volt Switch/U-turn support from the likes of Rotom-W and Landorus-T, which can draw in Grass-types that Victini can take advantage, and partners who can sweep after Steel-types and Grass-types are gone like SG Magearna and Ash-Greninja. Also, like every other breaker, it likes hazard support from the likes of Mega Tyranitar, Landorus-T, Heatran and Ash-Greninja. Ferrothorn is a good partner as it can setup Spikes and check really well Ash-Greninja, which is a common revenge killer of Victini. Hazard removal is helpful to preserve Victini's HP, so partners like Tornadus-T, Defog Tapu Koko and Choice Scarf Defog Landorus-Therian make up for good to pair with this Victini.

WoW Victini

Victini @ Weakness Policy/Firium Z
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Bolt Strike
- Will-O-Wisp
- Zen Headbutt

General idea
This Victini is meant to surprise the opponent's threat with an unexpected WoW. The best thing is the accuracy boost provided by the ability Victory Star, which makes this supporting move much more powerful. With this move you can handle Earthquake and Pursuit users much better than the usual.
No V-Create because it lowers the Spe and both the defenses, thus leaving you prone to be revenge killed and not even WoW can't save us, so Fire Blitz is more solid.

Weakness Policy is a good choice with the defensive support provided by WoW, but Firium Z could be really nice with Fire Blitz for a Fire nuke or a Z-boosted WoW in order to get an extra +1 Atk.

Defensive calcs with WoW support:
252 Atk burned Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini: 178-210 (52.1 - 61.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk burned Gastrodon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini: 93-109 (27.2 - 31.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band burned Tyranitar Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini: 274-324 (80.3 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk burned Bisharp Knock Off (97.5 BP if NOT holding a Z-Crystal) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini: 169-201 (49.5 - 58.9%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO (Sucker Punch does less)
36 Atk burned Muk-Alola Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini: 114-135 (33.4 - 39.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk burned Swampert Waterfall vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini in Rain: 175-207 (51.3 - 60.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk burned Hippowdon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini: 118-141 (34.6 - 41.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Team(mates) support
Something to get rid of hazards (mainly SR) is mandatory to keep Victini at high HP.

Victini @ Firium Z
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Toxic

This set was made by Sabella quite a while back, and two things stand out when first looking at it, Firium Z and Toxic. Z-V-create is an obscene nuke without dropping stats, essentially being two uses of the move. Bolt Strike slaps all the waters that come in on V-create and mauls stuff weak to it as well. U-turn gives an out in several bad matchups, most notably Heatran, but also Tyranitar, Kommo-o, the Latis, Swampert and Garchomp. Toxic in the last slot serves to hit all the previously mentioned mons bar Heatran for the long term, allowing it to spam V-create with less punishment. This Victini excels at breaking down bulky cores while being able to switch up moves while also mainta8ning the ability to check Tapu Lele and Medicham. To expand on this mon, Tapu Fini is a great partner, as it can forgo Nature’s Madness for dual STAB, checks Heatran, outspeeds and wears down Tyranitar and annoys the other mentioned mons. It also baits Grass-types, letting Victini in for free.

Mixed Lure

Victini @ Life Orb / Expert Belt
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
-V-Create
-Bolt Strike
-Brick Break
-Energy Ball / Glaciate

This set is a mixed wallbreaker that takes advantage of Victini's good coverage and power, physically and specially, and can bluff a choiced set (if LO recoil has yet to occur) to nail would-be checks. V-Create smashes anything that doesn't resist it and Bolt Strike hits many Fire-resists hard. Brick Break is used to 2HKO Heatran and Mega Tyranitar after Stealth Rock (Bolt Strike is a 3HKO). Energy Ball beats Rotom-Wash and Gastrodon while Glaciate beats Landorus-Therian and Garchomp.

This set requires hazard removal to preserve longevity. If Spikes support is provided then Brick Break can be dropped and both Glaciate and Energy Ball can be used. It helps partners, such as Greninja and Magearna, that prefer aforementioned targets weakened or removed.

Victini makes a good user of Trick Room thanks to the threat of Bolt Strike and V-Create forcing switches.

Originally I wanted to see if I could make inferno work, but even with a wide lens, the accuracy only goes up to 60% hahaha.

So here's Charge Beam Victini

187469

Victini @ Psychium Z
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Charge Beam
- Thunder
- Blue Flare
- Psychic / Glaciate

A fun little gimmick in charge beam gives Victini a boost to its special attack without having to use a z move slot while also allowing it to switch moves. This set breaks a few of the traditional checks and counters that Victini has.

It's best match-up is against bulky Water types, expecting at worst, a choice band bolt strike. These are unpleasantly surprised by a charge beam to the face, and then even more unpleasantly surprised by a +1 thunder, psychic or shattered psyche. Most of the ground types that threaten Victini are slower than it, so with a bit of chip, popping the Z-Move or even just raw fire blasting allows Victini to kill, or at least deal a ton of damage for other threats to follow through. This Victini set really enjoys an advantage against strong cores seen on ladder (especially with all the OLT stuff happening atm). Celepex is a good example of a classic core that gets destroyed by this Victini in all situations.

There are obviously a few issues with this set. Dragon types, in particular the rising M-Latias, M-Latios and Garchomp all pressure this set and force it out. Victini's speed, will ideal for breaking fatter pokemon, leaves it outsped by a large variety of common threats in the metagame. This set is also Greninja, Scarf Lando-T and Heatran food. So having adequate measures for dragons, and these common metagame threats is crucial.
