Moves
========
Swampert's combination of STAB moves and Ice Punch hits hard and threatens Defoggers like Rotom-H, Gligar, and Hydreigon. Additionally, Ice Punch covers more Pokemon that would otherwise bother Swampert like Latias and Celebi.
Set Details
========
The EVs provided allow Swampert to outpace Pokemon with uninvested base 80 Speed like defensive Mega Altaria. Life Orb gives Swampert a significant boost, letting it OHKO Cobalion with Earthquake. Life Orb's recoil helps activate Torrent to make Waterfall OHKO Hippowdon and offensive Scizor after Spikes.
Usage Tips
========
Swampert sets up Stealth Rock easily by forcing out common Pokemon like Mega Manectric lacking Hidden Power Grass, Cobalion, and Hippowdon. To keep Stealth Rock up, it should aggressively call out switches and stay-ins as its coverage for common entry hazard removers like Empoleon and Tentacruel is strong. It can also lure Pokemon like Mega Altaria and Celebi in and nail them with Ice Punch. While Swampert has a good defensive typing, it should switch into Pokemon like Mega Aerodactyl and offensive Rotom-H sparingly due to its lack of investment in bulk.
Team Options
========
Offensive Swampert fits nicely into teams that value its wallbreaking potential as a Stealth Rock setter and its good defensive typing to check foes like Mega Aerodactyl. On entry hazard-stacking teams, Klefki and Froslass provide Spikes and appreciate Swampert beating hazard removers Rotom-H and Gligar. Spikes also helps Swampert remove Amoonguss with Ice Punch and facilitates a sweep from Pokemon like Mega Sharpedo and Swords Dance Mimikyu. Swampert itself supports Mega Sharpedo and Mimikyu by heavily damaging bulky Pokemon like Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix. Other sweepers like Dragon Dance Mega Altaria and Swords Dance Scizor are also more threatening with hazard support. In return, Mega Altaria and Scizor are adequate answers for Grass-types like Celebi and Rotom-C. Bisharp makes for a strong Defog deterrent and capitalizes on Swampert checking Pokemon like Cobalion and Mega Aerodactyl. Both Scizor and Bisharp appreciate Swampert answering Rotom-H. Swampert is unable to get past bulky Water-types like Slowbro and Alolmomola, so Pokemon like Mega Manectric and Calm Mind Latias are helpful.
