ORAS OU The Flow [1784 Peaked Diancie Offense]

Hey Smogon welcome to my first RMT of an offense team I built a while ago and recently picked up to edit and ladder with. Some guys from the OU room may know me as Night Train Lane. The team focuses on applying pressure from Turn 1 and regaining momentum when lost using many lures. It's done very well versus all archetypes and rarely lost to stall unless I'm lucked or just straight up outplayed. I've had allot of fun with the team and i hope you do to. Now let's get to it.

Garchomp @ Focus Sash
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
The first member of the team is also my lead for about 80% of the time. As of now TankChomp is being heavily (completely imo) outclassed by Defensive Lando-T so the most optimal sets right now are SD and ChainChomp. I valued Turn 1 rocks over the ability to lure Lando and Rotom (although I havent tested ChainChomp on this specific team.) Lead Chomp is good right now because of the ability to force Turn 1 double down vs Lopunny and Medicham as they usually go for Ice Punch immediately, allowing you to EQ for about 70 to 84℅. SD also improves the matchup vs stall as Sableye cannot stay in on +2 Garchomp and is forced to switch into Skarmory or Quagsire which gives free rocks (s/o chimp) I tend to sack Garchomp in the first couple of turns which is generally not the right play but it tends to work out.
  • I've tested Life Orb SD for a few games after my break and it works as well, however it does change the dynamic of the team and took some getting used too.
Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power / Hidden Power [Fire]
- Protect / Rock Polish

Diancie is the 2nd best mega right now but holds its place as the best mega to throw onto an offense team that doesn't leave you with many building restrictions. Diancie is also my lead for this other 20% of the time since CTCs Birdspam is literally omnipresent and stall can't beat it. Max ATK Diancie is better right now since the most common switch ins to her; (assumed gender) Amoongus and Chansey are both 2HKOed after rocks. Earth Power is slashed with HP Fire since Heatran takes a huge chunk from Diamond Storm however I think the speed increase would be more valuable since we already have a Steel killer in Magnezone. Protect is slashed with Rock Polish since the original team was DD Lando + RP Diancie (worked pretty decently) but overall it's pretty inconsistent.

252 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 253-298 (35.9 - 42.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
-
252 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Heatran: 181-214 (46.8 - 55.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
-
252 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 248 HP / 168 Def Amoonguss: 207-244 (48 - 56.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

Tornadus-Therian @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Iron Tail / Heat Wave
- U-turn
- Knock Off

Tornadus was the most recently added team member since the original builds were both 6-0ed by Serp Turn 1. Both Torn sets are broken, but AV was chosen since I wanted a more stable pivot core with Rotom and AV outlives all if it's counters. 248 HP was chosen to have the most survivability possible. Iron Tail is the chosen coverage move since Diancie is an extremely hard matchup without it. Heat Wave is nice for Ferro and Scizor but a well played Mag can handle both so relieving the Diancie MU is more appreciated. Torn is used as the "catch all" switch in and my set revenge killer versus more bulky teams as they usually have no way to 2HKO it. Torn is also nice versus offense since Adamant Lopunny is more popular now and Hurricane always kills. (If you can somehow hit)

Magnezone @ Chople Berry
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Magnezones is such an average mon but it's specific role is very appreciated on many Diancie builds. Magnezones job is to trap Skarmory and Scizor which both give Diancie (and the team overall) many problems. Chople Berry is chosen for Metagross. The set aims to eat Hammer Arm then Thunderbolt twice, since you'll be faster after the speed drop. Without Chople Berry the Metagross matchup is near unwinnable as the only switch in is Rotom which is whittled by everything in the metagame. Also not being choice locked is good as the ability to lure in mons that think I'm locked into Thunderbolt or HP Fire. (Excadrill, SD Talon, CM Latios)
  • Non specs mag isn't terrible. Stop acting like it's supposed to be a Gardevior when the goal of the Pokemon is to trap Steel types with a STAB 4x super effective attack.
  • If you use EQ Metagross in 2016 you're bad and we can fight irl

Latios @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Trick
- Surf
- Thunderbolt

Latios is one of the pillars of OU and with a Choice Scarf it becomes the best revenge killer in the tier. Being able to outspeed +1 Charizard X and +1 Dragonite is amazing. Also being able to outspeed lightspeed megas like Lopunny and Manectric is nice. The reason why scarf was added over specs and Life Orb was because Serperior was the teams hardest MU and since Tornadus can get glared on the switch I wanted more than 1 way to kill it. Trick is a nice utility move in the Balance and Stall MU as locking Clefable, Chansey and GastroDON into any of their moves allows me too beat them much easier. Thunderbolt is only there for filler and Pyshock is not optimal since Clefable shrugs off non Orb boosted attacks. Tbolt hits Skarmory and Azu. Roost and Defog could work over Tbolt but I consider Trick + 3 attack much better.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunder Wave / Pain Split

Rotom-W, the best pivot in OU, was also one of the original members of the team. In the building process I noticed real a lack of bulk and status spreading. Rotom is also my primary Metagross switch and the key ground switch in, which every Diancie team should have. The 44 speed EVs are for Belly Drum Azumarill so you can Volt Switch out/burn it. Double status was added extremely recently (today) and helps a bit with HO and Offense. Since its Thunder Wave why not put it on the team? It's completely competitive /s. Not having recovery is a bummer but you have to decide whether you want to live a little longer or skill your way out of every situation.

Overall the team has a good MU vs Birdspam HO (I'd say 60/40) and a great MU vs Stall. Balance is a little harder since things like GastroDON and Tangrowth never die. Thanks for reading my rmt I hope you enjoy the team. This was done on my phone so sorry for any format issues.

Threatlist
GastroDON can curse up on 5 of the mons and procede to stall everything out. I try to beat it with tricking it the scarf and whittling it down.
Tangrowth is another mon that can just sponge alot of hits. I usually have Tornadus or Lati kill it after it picks a mon to put to bed.
The Mega variation gets a free mega evolution vs Diancie and Tornadus and gets free damage vs Rotom. the mag set is specifically for this mon.
The other versions (Rest Keld or DD Lando > Torn) get 6-0ed. Tornadus and Latios revenge and switch in.. unless they Glare you. SubSeed is also annoying
Weavile is just annoying as hell. It kills every mon except Rotom even then it needs a little bit of chip to kill with knock. I mostly rely on keeping Rotom and Diancie healthy.
Diancie gets free kills everywhere. You can speed tie luck people and lure it in with Tornadus and Surf Latios.
Clefable should be on every threatlist. It's handled by Mag + Diancie. Trick Latios also handles it decently.
Manectric can clean up late to mid game once Latios is dead. Latios can kill and Diancie needs to stay healthy. Raikou isnt particularly as frustrating since the power difference is very noticeable.
Excadrill, as pointed out down below, does a large amount of damage to everyone on the team since my only ground resist is Torn which isn't a drill switch in. Lando is currently being tested over Garchomp to fix this problem.

Team seems pretty good. Threatlist is accurate enough, and team overall doesn't let up versus foes. Nicely done.

Although I don't 100% agree with the team (Hyper Offense is a bit iffy versus most foes), I will leave it as hyper offense as to change it to bulky offense would be changing the team rather drastically.

Only slight problem would be Mold Breaker Excadrill, which can sweep the team if your only Ground-immune – namely Torn-T – goes down. I personally would go with an offensive Landorus-T set (or bulky Landorus-T if that suits you better) to alleviate the Excadrill problem. Knock Off on Landorus-T can also save you some trouble of trapping Skarmory who utilize a Shed Shell specifically for Magnezone. Landorus-T is optional, however.
Landorus-Therian @ Earth Plate
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Stealth Rock
Again, team's pretty excellent and I can find no real flaw in it.

Appreciate the suggestion!

It's funny that you suggest Lando considering that I actually had that over Tornadus originally. I could see the merit of that over Garchomp considering I've never actually switched Chomp for anything. I'll be sure to try it out since using sash Chomp kind of makes it a 5 vs 6 a lot of the time.
