The Power Within
The above joke had to happen at some point
Approved by Eevee General

Want a Pokemon with that one piece of coverage it was missing all of this time? Want a Pokemon with an actual reliable physical STAB that for some reason it doesn't get earlier? Want to obsolete Hidden Power in every way shape and form? Well if you picked any of these choices, this metagame is perfect for you!

What is it?
The Power Within is a metagame based on Hidden Power. Normally, nobody would run the move except in extreme cases because, well, it's bad with its 60 BP. Plus, it's only special. This Metagame fixes that! Now you can run any illegal move you want, as long as it has the same type as your Hidden Power! This means you can run stuff like Shadow Ball Keldeo instead of HP Ghost for those pesky Jellicents! The best part? Normal and Fairy Hidden Powers do not exist, so we don't have to worry about Shell Smash, Boomburst, Extreme Speed and Geomancy being everywhere!

Rules/Clauses:
Standard OU Banlist and clauses. Baton Pass clause is on (if it wasn't already) due to the ridiculous set-up sweeping you can now provide with it (think Quiver Dance, Tail Glow, etc.). If your Hidden Power type matches an illegal move's type, you can run the illegal move with no issues. If it doesn't, well you're going to have a few problems then.

Fancy Movesets:

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Atk
IVs: 30 SAtk / 30 SDef / 30 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Defog
- Roost
- Stone Edge

Mega-Tyranitar has pretty good bulk, but no way to really use it outside of bulky attacking sets. Flying Power Tyranitar however not only gets Roost as reliable recovery, but can pull off a bulky support role with Defog. Plus, even when uninvested, its Stone Edges can make dents in things that don't resist them.

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
IVs: Blank or 30 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spe or 30 SAtk / 30 SDef
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Switcheroo / Fire Blast / Earth Power

Pick a switch-in to completely murder with a coverage move, or just click Switcheroo and cripple any stallish things that want to come in.

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Knock Off / Sucker Punch

Hey look guys I got Knock Off now am I cool yet? No? Sucker Punch is cool too right?

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 192 SDef / 72 Spe
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SAtk
Careful Nature
- Spore
- Leech Seed
- Roost / Spiky Shield
- Substitute / Knock Off / Earthquake / Taunt

How to be annoying in 4 simple moves

NOTE: You don't have to run Hidden Power to receive these benefits, just change the IVs to whatever type you want.

Play this metagame on aqua.psim.us!
Code TBA

Well, that's it for this really simple metagame! Thanks for reading, and have a rice day.

Reserved for something in the future (probably suspect decisions and the like when we get there)

You're free to post

Best thing since sliced bread.
Nope, jk, but very good meta. Yeah, no burst or geo, but Shift Gear / Tail Glow are still here.
Fighting will appreciate the ability to use SG and Iron Head for Fairies.
Talonflame can use Power Whip.
Defog and Roost will be a nice combo for defensive Pokes.
Greninja gets stuff like Blue Flare... yea no burst but hey.
Sacred Fire could help as coverage vs steels ( hell, V-Create too ).
QD and Heal Order for something that will bug your opponent.

Tastes like Typemons except you are not as limited, js.
It still seems fun and hey, even with all the set up, Prankster TopsyTurvy still exists.
Now, Megas:
Zard X can use V-Create since he doesn't need more coverage, or you can have Shift Gear.
Venusaur will really like Flying for Roost and Defog
Ice coverage for Manetric and most things that like BoltBeam.
M-Pidgeot can run Earth Power or Zap Cannon/Blizzard/Inferno for fun.
M-Beedril gets or SG and King's shield for overkill.
Eruption Zard Y.
Recovery for anything that wants Flying, Grass or Bug... M-Ampharos with Tail Glow and Heal order. In general anything special with bulk and lacks recovery.
Steel Metagross, Oh god. Bring your Quagsires. (Even then Grass trapper)
Just Steel everything, SG and KS everything

Special attackers can all add Psystrike or Secret Sword and laugh at Eviolite Chansey forever. Psystrike also goes with a zillion utility moves, most obviously Calm Mind for Pokemon that want it and don't have it, but also Cosmic Power, Guard Split, Heart Swap, Imprison, Power Split, Power Trick (Pokemon with mixed offenses can use Power Trick to get their Defense up to snuff), Skill Swap, Trick, Trick Room.... Oh and Stored Power for maximum madness.

Slaking and Regigigas can both gift themselves Skill Swap and rampage. So can Archeops, but it'll still be Archeops, so whatever.

Slurpuff can finally gift itself real coverage -Thousand Arrows seems overall optimal if unreleased moves are legal- and rampage after it Belly Drums.

U-Turn/Volt Switch/Parting Shot on anything that wants any of them, which is basically anything.

High power recoil moves on Pokemon with Rock Head or Magic Guard. Nifty stuff like Aerodactyl using Volt Tackle. For that matter, they should protect from High Jump Kick's recoil!

Dragon Tail/Circle Throw on anything that wants it is cool.

Now Malamar can slap on Dragon Ascent to be pretty darn cool. Probably outperformed by other Pokemon in practice, but hey.

Random V-Creates seems likely to shift the meta away from literally anything Fire vulnerable.

Precipice Blades on Golurk is a nifty minor upgrade.

Inferno is an obvious replacement to Heat Wave on Mega Pidgeot.

Coil on any random Physical set-up Pokemon that wouldn't rather go for Shift Gear. Nice bonus for Pokemon that have stuff like Cross Chop.

Diamond Storm is fantastic Rock coverage and almost never misses. Oh, by the way, literally everything can learn Stealth Rock, hooray. Sticky Web on literally anything, also hooray...

Water Shuriken should replace Aqua Jet on Azumarill, unless there's some coverage it would rather have.

Really, in general, Pokemon with "perfect" movesets will tend to just upgrade some part of it, rather than taking anything new -even if stuff like King's Shield is amazing.

Fiery Dance should always replace Flamethrower/Fire Blast if you don't have anything else you want more urgently from a different type.

Now anything can run Power Gem! Not much cares, but it's still nice.

Honestly, Dark is pretty nutty: Taunt, Foul Play, Knock Off, Parting Shot, Dark Void, Nasty Plot, Topsy-Turvy.... Ghosts and Psychic types beware.

Now literally anything can Defog, which is pretty nice since Roost is also in there, and so's Dragon Ascent and Oblivion Wing. It's a pretty good package is what I'm saying.

SubSeed for everyone!

Plenty of other cool stuff of course.

Yay for Psychic being a non-bad type in at least one aspect!

Kyurem-b finally gets the physical ice attack he never got with icicle crash and even ice shard
Ice beam will be useful for all electrics(this includes rotom-w)
Fire Blast Chlorophyll grass types(venusaur non mega and lilligant will love this)
now all water types gets ice beam yes even keldeo and seismitoad
this was mentioned already but every special attacker now has psystrike/secret sword to troll eviolite chansey like greninja

EV

Banned deucer.
I think you'll want to double-check that Tyranitar set, unless it got Knock Off via ORAS and I'm just not seeing that somewhere.

Also share the Gliscor set too!

Fire, as usual, is pretty good to have. Special gets Lava Plume, Fiery Dance, Flamethrower and Blue Flare, physical gets Sacred Fire, Flare Blitz, and Vcreate. Too bad you'll have to lower your speed IV, and Fire offers no set up, or else it would be broken af.

It already has Brave Bird, which is the same base power. I'd personally use it for better coverage options, like Close Combat or something.

Earth Power on Charizard could be a nifty option

EDIT: virtually anything on Landorus is going to cause death

Talonbird is spooky. You can run Ground with Thousand Arrows or, even scarier, run Grass. It gives you Power Whip for Rotom-W and Ttar, but also grants you Spore. Don't worry about Grass-typea being immune either - remember you're Talonflame and makr Grass cry.

Ah, right. Point taken. A recoil-less Brave Bird off of Gale Wings sounds scary, but Talonflame probably has better options in this meta.

Here are a few other possibilities I came up with off the top of my head:

- Chansey can now use Foul Play, giving it a reliable way to damage pokes outside of Seismic Toss and Toxic. Not only that, but it'll make the hard physical sweepers think twice before switching in and setting up.
- Mega Blastoise with Roost, anyone? True, it'll sacrifice some coverage, but in return it gets the Christmas gift it always wanted; a reliable source of recovery.
- Dugtrio seems like it'd be a pretty mean abuser of Destiny Bond, given its high speed and access to Arena Trap.
- Believe it or not, I can kind of see Swoobat being threatening in this tier. With Simple, Quiver Dance becomes a charge-free Geomancy, and Tail Glow... well...

Ok so I got a really silly idea, but maybe it will be good. Introducing our lord and savior - Trick Room Azumarill!

Bad Idea (Azumarill) @ Leftovers / Lum Berry / Macho Brace
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 2 Spe
- Trick Room
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Aqua Jet / Psycho Shift / Lunar Dance

So basically this turns Azumarill into a TR sweeper like Reuniclus was in Gen 5. IVs are obviously for HP Psychic. With 50 speed, Azumarill is going to out-pace a lot of things under TR, and it has the bulk to set up at least one. First three slots are obvious. Last slot can be whatever you want - Aqua Jet gives you utility outside of TR and lets you go first vs shit like Talonbird in TR. Psycho Shift is because fuck burns, and Lunar Dance is interesting to either safely pass to another slowmon in TR or to use it in the last turn of TR when Azu is weaker. Zen Headbutt / Psycho Cut is also an option if Mega-Venusaur becomes a big issue.

You know, if you want to make it REALLY gimmicky, you can swap out the Macho Brace for an Iron Ball and put Fling in the fourth slot.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 244 Atk / 12 SpA / 252 Spe or 40 Atk / 216 SAtk / 252 Spe if running Earth Power
Naive Nature
IVs: 30 SpA / 30 SpD
- Thousand Arrows/Earth Power
- Gunk Shot
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse/Extrasensory
With Thousand Arrows/Earth Power, Ninja can take on both Empoleon and Tentacruel at the same time whilst maintaining the ability to beat Heatran and others. Rotom-W, Skarmory and other annoying Levitate/Flying Pokemon get hit by Thousand Arrows as well and Earth Power helps with more physically bulky Pokemon. Ferrothorn isn't covered with this set, but most other things are at least.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 244 Atk / 12 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Knock Off/Sucker Punch
- Gunk Shot
- Low Kick
- Ice Beam
With Dark, Greninja can keep its perfect IVs and choose to screw over Pory2 and Chansey with Knock Off or get priority against faster Pokemon and Scarfers with Sucker Punch. Excellent.

Hawlucha @ Leftovers/Life Orb
Ability: Limber/Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
EVs: 30 HP / 30 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SAtk / 30 SDef / 31 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick/Drain Punch
- Brave Bird
- Roost/Stone Edge/U-turn
- Defog
This may be less world-changing than Greninja, but Hawlucha will work very nicely as a Defogger with its Stealth Rock neutrality, Spikes immunity and ability to beat Bisharp reliably (and Defiant genies as well if carrying Stone Edge). Hawlucha also gets Brave Bird with the HP Flying IVs, finally giving it a reliable Flying STAB without being forced to not use an item.
