Moves
========

Hyperspace Fury and Hyperspace Hole are STAB attacks that can break through Protect and Wide Guard, the former being more powerful and having the better offensive typing and the latter being more spammable because it does not reduce Hoopa-U's Defense upon use and is unaffected by the Attack drop from Intimidate and burns. Trick Room supports the team by providing speed control, allowing Hoopa-U and other slow teammates to move first most of the time. Protect lets Hoopa-U stall out field conditions and allows partners to KO threats without it having to switch.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread maximizes the damage from Hoopa-U's Hyperspace Fury while also providing enough bulk to survive a Secret Sword from Keldeo or a Moonblast from Mega Diancie. Safety Goggles allows to set up Trick Room on Amoonguss and other sleep spreaders, while Focus Sash allows Hoopa-U to take at least one hit and set up Trick Room. Life Orb lets Hoopa-U hit harder and notably OHKO Aegislash and Amoonguss, though it sacrifices Hoopa-U's longevity. Alternatively, a spread of 252 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 SpD can be used with a Focus Sash because the defensive benchmarks aren't as relevant when Hoopa-U is guaranteed to survive one hit.

Usage Tips
========

Because Hoopa-U is frail, it functions best as a mid- or late-game Trick Room setter, as many of its checks will often be KOed or out of position. Due to Hoopa-U's low Defense, it should avoid taking physical attacks. Spamming Hyperspace Hole and Hyperspace Fury is great to stop the opponent from using Protect to stall out Trick Room turns, also breaking Protect and Wide Guard for Hoopa-U's partner to deal damage. Fake Out support can make setting Trick Room easier. Because some Pokemon are naturally slower than Hoopa-U, setting Trick Room sometimes isn't the priority and when facing Pokemon such as Ferrothorn or Amoonguss, it's best to just attack. Also, don't set Trick Room if you feel that a Taunt user will use Taunt on Hoopa-U; instead, use Protect or attack the Taunt user.

Team Options
========

Fake Out users such as Kangaskhan and Scrafty make for good partners, as they help Hoopa-U set Trick Room more easily. An Intimidate user such as Gyarados or Landorus-T can help to alleviate Hoopa-U's poor Defense. Fighting-types such as Conkeldurr and Fairy-types like Sylveon help deal with Dark-types, which Hoopa-U struggles to damage. Amoonguss also helps redirect attacks, which makes setting Trick Room easier and is also great under Trick Room, as it easily spreads sleep to the opposing team thanks to its low Speed. Spread attackers such as Heatran are great because Hyperspace Fury and Hyperspace Hole also break Wide Guard, so fewer Trick Room turns are wasted if the opponent clicks Wide Guard. Make sure these spread attackers are IVed to be slower than Hoopa-U so that Wide Guard is broken when they attack in Trick Room. Other Trick Room setters can be good to further support a team that may require more Trick Room support, preferably a setter that isn't as weak to Kangaskhan such as Bronzong or Jellicent.

Talked with the rest of QC, item slashes should be Sash / Goggles / LO

Once you do that, just a couple things:
  • [Usage Tips] Use Hyperspace Hole if running 40 Defense, as the Defense drops that accompany Hyperspace Fury kinda ruin that benchmark.
  • [Usage Tips] Use Hyperspace moves to take advantage of people trying to use Protect to stall out turns of TR
  • [Usage Tips] Setting TR should not always be the main goal of this set, if you see that the opponent has slow threats such as Ferrothorn or Amoonguss on the field, it's best to just attack.
  • [Team Options] Spread attackers like Eruptran are great because Hyperspace moves also break Wide Guard.
  • [Team Options] Change the Keldeo / Terrakion mention to Conkeldurr because you don't want Keldeo on a TR team
QC 1/3, good work as usual

Rephrase this to something like "If running 40 Defense, Hoopa-U should be wary of using Hyperspace Fury as its Defense drop can render the benchmark useless" or something like that. The way tree wrote kinda says "dont use Fury" which is wrong lol.

imo you are better off with goggles and moving that SpA into HP so you can take more hits which comes in clutch when you need to set TR. The only common threat you need SpA investment for is Amoonguss which goggles covers. Less common fighting threats you can EV to OHKO for, you wont need 252 SpA for them unless they have assault vest and stupid bulky.

with that 252 Hp you are actually really bulky against special attackers. You cant call this a frail mon with 130 special defense; and like you said you should be running wisp/intimidate support next to hoopa anyways to cover its physical defense.

This is what I have been running on every tr hoopa team and have never felt the need to run sash. but goggles often comes in clutch consider amoonguss is everywhere.

Also interestingly, if a opposing mon who moves first brings you down to sash and they run life orb then you follow up with an attack on them you will have lost your sash and steal their LO and kill yourself through LO damage all in the same turn.

Do for 2/3.

Moves
  • Say that Hyperspace Fury is Hoopa's strongest attack.
  • Mention some of the things that Hyperspace Hole hits (Fighting-Types, Amoonguss).
  • If you're going to specify a field condition change it from Tailwind, since when you're min speed you would get outsped by stuff anyways.
Set Details
  • Mention that defensive investment is counterintuitive with Focus Sash as well.
  • Talk about Life Orb a little (hit harder, notably OHKO Amoonguss, Aegislash).
Usage Tips
  • Not a fan of the "getting Fake Outed" point, instead mention avoiding taking physical attacks since they do a ton.
  • Mention using Hyperspace moves to break Wide Guard as well for spread users, not just Protect.
  • When talking about not setting TR, mention attacking when you know a Taunt is coming your way as well.
Team Options
  • Mention that Amoonguss can redirect to help set TR as well.
  • Say that when pairing with with spread attackers, you need to IV them so that Hoopa underspeeds to break Wide Guard before they attack.
  • Mention having other TR setters, bulky ones that aren't as Kang weak, like Zong/Jelli.

Set
  • use this order of item slashing: Safety Goggles / Focus Sash / Life Orb
  • Make the main spread 252 Atk / 44 Def / 210 SpA / 4 SpD with only Brave as the slash
Moves
  • The way you wrote the parts for Hole and Fury is really off. Just say that both are powerful STAB moves that can hit through Protect and Wide Guard instead of describing them separately kind of like how it was done in Mega Gengar's analysis.
  • The part about the two moves being really good in TR is something that you should put in Usage Tips instead.
  • In addition to Hoopa, say that TR also lets "other slow teammates" move first.
Set Details
  • Adjust this section to be in line with the changes to the set. The spread lives Keldeo SS and Mega Diancie Moonblast. Note that the order of item mentions should follow the item slashes! Also, it's Safety Goggles.
  • Mention using 252 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 SpD if using Focus Sash since you don't need to focus much on defensive benchmark thus making maximizing offenses more optimal.
Usage Tips
  • "If running 40 Def EVs, use Hyperspace Hole more so the Defense drop doesn't undermine the investment." Remove this lol this is bad advice
  • "Because Hoopa is frail it can be a good mid to late game Trick Room setter to really swing momentum" - you don't really give much reasons why mid- to late-game other than it's frail... you should mention that this is because in mid- to late-game threats to Hoopa are usually already KOd, weakened, or out of position. "to really swing momentum" is also just hyperbole lol, be more specific like "seize the Speed advantage" or whatever.
  • "Because of Hoopa's natural speed, sometimes setting Trick Room isn't the priority and when facing Pokemon such as Ferrothorn or Amoongus its best to just attack." - instead of saying "Hoopa's natural Speed" say that some stuff are just naturally slower than it. Hoopa's natural Speed isn't really outrunning much since it's 0 ivs Brave so putting the emphasis on that isn't ideal.
Team Options
  • "Amoongus and Aegislash are good defensive partners, which check things like Keldeo, Kangaskhan, Sylveon, and Gardevoir, and can also take advantage of Trick Room that Hoopa provides." Remove this as this tag essentially boils down to stuff that check a lot of things in general and not something that fulfills something specific for / with Hoopa. Keep the redirection tag that follows with Amoonguss tho!
  • When you mention Fightings with Conk, mention Fairy-types like Sylveon in the same line; both fulfill the same thing which is check Darks. Remove the Sylveon mention later on.
  • On the spread attackers bit, take off the Eruption bit on Heatran. Also, say that since Hoopa breaks WG, they don't easily get cockblocked and thus don't have to waste valuable TR turns.
tag once implemented

210 is not a multiple of 4. You need 212 or 208

Also I suggest making that SpA a benchmark
96 to kill Conk (with 252hp no SpD invest and not Assault vest)
116 to kill standard Keldeo/Terrakion

That leaves you with a good HP dump. No need to Max SpA; ev for it to kill what you need (keldeo) because your main attack is Hyper Space Fury

On the set, SpAtk and SpDef should just be SpA and SpD. Also, it should be only 208 SpA oops

Say something about Hole being able to bypass Intimidate and burns

Set Details: Focus Sash

Because Hoopa is frail it can be a good mid to late game Trick Room setter as many of its checks will be KOd or out of position. - Don't just say they will be, this is not something that's guaranteed to happen. Just say that they often are or something.

TO: Say something about Amoonguss being dangerous in TR too because you-know-why

Alternatively, a spread of 252 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 SpD can be used with a Focus Sash because the defensive benchmarks aren't as relevant when Hoopa-U is guaranteed to survive one hit.

Usage Tips
========

========
