[OVERVIEW]

Tyrunt finds a distinct niche in LC as a fearsome Dragon Dance sweeper. Close Combat and Strong Jaw-boosted Psychic Fangs allow it to neutrally damage a majority of the tier and punish checks such as Ferroseed, Pawniard, and Mienfoo. However, Tyrunt's typing and mediocre Speed stat leave it vulnerable to common threats like Grookey, Mienfoo, and Pawniard, especially if it has not gotten the opportunity to set up. Furthermore, Tyrunt often takes significant damage when setting up, which makes it difficult to sweep without extensive support from Sticky Web or dual screens.

Moves
========

Dragon Dance lets Tyrunt outspeed the entire unboosted metagame after a boost. Rock Blast is the preferred STAB move, enabling Tyrunt to break Focus Sash from foes like Dewpider and Abra. Close Combat hits Steel-types like Ferroseed, Pawniard, and Magnemite while also allowing Tyrunt to OHKO Scraggy. Psychic Fangs OHKOes bulky Mienfoo after a Dragon Dance boost and nails foes like Foongus and Mareanie. Furthermore, Psychic Fangs is Tyrunt's best neutral attack against targets like Mudbray due to Close Combat dropping its defenses, making it more susceptible to priority from foes such as Grookey and Timburr.

Set Details
========

Strong Jaw boosts Psychic Fangs's power, allowing it to decimate Mienfoo and Poison-types like Foongus and Mareanie. Maximum Attack and Speed investment with a Jolly nature enables Tyrunt to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame after a Dragon Dance boost, with the remaining EVs invested in Special Defense to achieve optimal Eviolite numbers. Eviolite helps Tyrunt consistently set up.

Usage Tips
========

Tyrunt is best utilized mid- and late-game after its checks have been weakened so it can safely enter the battle and set up with Dragon Dance. Its natural bulk also helps it take advantage of weak offensive threats such as Foongus that has already used Spore and Vulpix to boost up, and it can help Tyrunt soft check an opposing threat, aiding its teammates. Usually, dual screens or Sticky Web should be established before Tyrunt switches in, as they greatly ease setup directly or by letting it force out more foes. Be wary of priority from foes like Grookey, Pawniard, and Timburr, as they can revenge kill Tyrunt even after setting up.

Team Options
========

Screens support from Natu or Amaura or Sticky Web from Dewpider is pivotal to Tyrunt's success. Natu also provides additional utility, with Thunder Wave slowing down foes and Teleport safely bringing Tyrunt into play. Besides helping setup, Sticky Web lets Tyrunt outspeed faster threats like Pawniard, fast Mienfoo, and Abra before a boost and hit them with its powerful attacks. Knock Off support from partners such as Mareanie and Pawniard can weaken foes like Ferroseed and Onix into the range of Tyrunt's coverage moves. Psychic-types like Abra and Galarian Ponyta appreciate Tyrunt's ability to threaten Natu; in return, they can take advantage of Fighting-types like Mienfoo and Timburr, which trouble Tyrunt. Grookey can pivot into Tyrunt as well as set Grassy Terrain, which helps Tyrunt better survive against opposing Ground-types. Fellow late-game setup sweepers and cleaners like Scraggy and Belly Drum Magby synergize well with Tyrunt's wallbreaking capabilities. Staryu can weaken a shared check in Ferroseed, enabling Tyrunt to KO it later with Close Combat.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Iron Head allows Tyrunt to damage Spritzee super effectively, but it is generally outclassed by both Close Combat and Psychic Fangs against other targets. Fire Fang is an option against Steel-types that does not drop Tyrunt's defenses and does significantly more to Ferroseed; however, it requires more support from Trapinch and Air Balloon Diglett and is usually outclassed by Close Combat against other targets. Sturdy + Berry Juice can be utilized to surprise the opponent and give Tyrunt a source of recovery; however, the loss of Eviolite makes Tyrunt even more susceptible to priority moves, and the loss of damage output without Strong Jaw is noticeable.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Pawniard and Magnemite can OHKO Tyrunt, while Ferroseed can cripple it with both Thunder Wave and Knock Off. Furthermore, Pawniard can weaken or revenge kill a boosted Tyrunt with Sucker Punch. However, all three Steel-types should fear Close Combat.

**Grookey and Timburr**: Grookey can KO Tyrunt with Wood Hammer into Grassy Glide and even revenge kill a boosted Tyrunt with Grassy Glide. Likewise, Timburr can revenge kill Tyrunt with Mach Punch.

**Spritzee**: Spritzee tanks all of Tyrunt's moves, even after Dragon Dance, and retaliates with a strong Moonblast.

**Ground-types**: Due to their natural bulk, Onix, Trapinch, and Mudbray can soft check Tyrunt. Onix is capable of surviving +1 Close Combat from Tyrunt if healthy, while Trapinch and Mudbray are able to live any one hit from Tyrunt and fire back with a super strong Earthquake.

Furthermore, Tyrunt has difficulty setting up and requires extensive support from Sticky Web or dual screen setters to properly function. hmmm not really these do help a ton butttt I've ran it on hos that needed more vull checks and it works fine if uve got anti priority measures

u also need to mention that part of the reason its so good is that scarfers r not in a good spot in the meta rn cuz webs. so even tho ur fucked when u do get one they're uncommon enough that its not usually an issue

Eviolite is the preferred item, increasing Tyrunt's bulk to help it consistently set up with Dragon Dance. i think the spd evs help u set up more comfortably vs foongus? u might need to check that

Usage Tips
========

Tyrunt is best utilized mid- to late-game after its checks have been weakened and it can safely enter the battle and set up with Dragon Dance. Tyrunt can also come in on a predicted double switch against Vullaby or after Vullaby has KOed an ally and force it out to set up. Usually, dual screens or Sticky Web should be established before Tyrunt switches in, as those greatly eases the difficulty of Tyrunt accumulating Dragon Dance boosts and firing off strong attacks. Be wary of priority from foes like Grookey, Pawniard, and Timburr as they can revenge kill Tyrunt even after setting up. u need 2 mention that its p naturally bulky. so u can set up on weak stuff like foongus (if they've already slept a mon) or pix locked into fire etc. also means that if u cannot sweep at all it can usually blanket check a threatening mon on the other team at least once eg carv or whatever. which can be good for your other sweepers/cleaners

Team Options

Dual screens support from Natu and Amaura is pivotal to Tyrunt's success and helps it set up with Dragon Dance consistently. Natu also provides additional utility with Thunder Wave slowing down foes and Teleport safely bringing Tyrunt into play. i also like running cleaners like bj pony or carv with this bc even if u lose to prio it tends to break a few mons before which help a bunch.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options

Stone Edge is a notable alternative over Rock Blast to guaranteed the OHKO on Vullaby, but it is less accurate than Rock Blast and cannot break Focus Sashes. Iron Head allows Tyrunt to damage Spritzee super effectively, the reason iron head is bad is that spritzee is bad so not worth it but is generally outclassed by both Close Combat and Psychic Fangs against other targets. Berry Juice can be utilized instead of Eviolite to provide Tyrunt with recovery. However, the loss of bulk from Eviolite makes setting up more difficult, even with dual screen support. i rlly think bj is borderline unviable. like tyrunt rlly depends on the evio to function imo if it were up to me id take it off the analysis

also mention running stab scale shot, helps a ton vs stuff like webs / scarfers bc their main way of checking tyrunt is denied. this should be first in oo.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Mienfoo, Timburr, and Scraggy can exploit Tyrunt's Rock typing and punish it with their strong Fighting-type STAB moves. Bulky Mienfoo can survive Psychic Fangs after a Dragon Dance boost and retaliate with High Jump Kick. Mach Punch from Timburr can weaken Tyrunt and put it into range of other priority attacks. However, all Fighting-types should be wary of directly switching into Tyrunt, with Scraggy being OHKOed by Close Combat and the other two being 2HKOed by Psychic Fangs. most of this works if unboosted.. which tyrunt should rarely be cause its usually a wincon / wallbreaker. timb and croagunk (lol) are the best ones cause prio is v annoying, scarf foo too if its not webs. scraggy and evio foo should be removed.

**Steel-types**: Pawniard and Magnemite can OHKO Tyrunt with Iron Head and Flash Cannon, respectively, while Ferroseed can cripple Tyrunt with both Thunder Wave and Knock Off. Furthermore, Pawniard can weaken a boosted Tyrunt with Sucker Punch. However, all three Steel-types should fear Close Combat. ferro most likely lives +1 cc if its at 22/21 hp, otherwise high (65% or more) chance of dropping. mag does work tho, and sucker pawn is also annoying

**Grookey**: Grookey can KO Tyrunt through the combination of Wood Hammer into Grassy Glide and can even revenge kill a boosted Tyrunt with Grassy Glide after residual damage. tyrunt is not setting up on grookey so wood hammer part is moot. grassy glide is super annoying though so do include it. id rather this just be *priority* over grookey, u can include mach ajet sucker users too

**Spritzee**: Spritzee can tank all of Tyrunt's moves, even after Dragon Dance, and retaliate with a strong Moonblast.

Implemented. I'll just outline some parts of the check that I disagree with.
"However, Tyrunt's typing and mediocre Speed stat leaves it vulnerable to common threats like Grookey, Mienfoo, and Pawniard, especially if Tyrunt has not gotten the opportunity to set up." - This goes into the C&C sections too. Tyrunt's typing and speeding is the issue, outside of priority, since those guys just outspeed and bop you and you cant set up in their faces. Foo doesn't have to be scarf, just fast, to outspeed and HJK the dino. Plus, Webs isn't going to be on the field in every scenario, so they do qualify as checks.

Knock Off support from the likes of Vullaby and Pawniard can weaken foes like Ferroseed and bulky Mienfoo into the range of Tyrunt's coverage moves. - Disagree here too. Knocking Ferro and Onix (I changed it) puts them into +1 CC range.

yeah that's alright, my reasoning was more along the lines of it being used as a wincon this is fine though if you wanna keep it. qc 1/3

Close Combat allows Tyrunt to OHKO Scraggy and Pawniard and hit Steel-types like Ferroseed and Magnemite. clunky

Furthermore, Psychic Fangs is Tyrunt's best neutral attacking move against targets like Diglett due to Rock Blast being inaccurate and Close Combat dropping Tyrunt's defenses, making it more susceptible to priority from foes such as Grookey and Timburr. CC part is great but the rock blast point feels bad. either remove it or find something that makes more sense to rock blast than diglett.

Fire Fang for Ferroseed, Pawniard. Requires more support (eg pinch, balloon dig) and it is usually easy enough to chip Ferroseed.

Checks and Counters

  • +1 204 Atk Strong Jaw Tyrunt Psychic Fangs vs. 236 HP / 196+ Def Eviolite Mienfoo: 22-28 (91.6 - 116.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
    • Possible damage amounts: (22, 24, 24, 24, 24, 24, 24, 24, 26, 26, 26, 26, 26, 26, 26, 28)
  • identical role vs Timburr
  • Eviolite Scraggy also dies
basically the Fighting-type section isn't worth much as is. I would collapse Timburr's Mach Punch point in the same point as Grookey. Maybe just title it Timburr and Grookey.
**Fighting-types**: Mienfoo, Timburr, and Scraggy can exploit Tyrunt's Rock typing and punish it with their strong Fighting-type STAB moves. Bulky Mienfoo can survive Psychic Fangs after a Dragon Dance boost and retaliate with High Jump Kick, while Mach Punch from Timburr can weaken Tyrunt and put it into range of other priority attacks. **Grookey**: Grookey can KO Tyrunt through the combination of Wood Hammer into Grassy Glide and can even revenge kill a boosted Tyrunt with Grassy Glide after residual damage. I think you should note Vullaby Knock Off is enough.

**Ground-types**: add Trapinch

should be good for 2/3

  • You say Tyrunt is capable of setting up against the meta's most common Pokemon and then you say it has "difficulty" setting up. I would specify instead that it often takes significant damage when setting up, which makes it difficult to sweep without webs/screens support
  • I would mention how good its coverage is in the positives as well - very few pokemon (if any) resist it, and most common threats are hit super effectively

Please come up with a better neutral example than Diglett (as per the last check)

Mention Grookey here. Brings in Vullaby often and grassy terrain is helpful vs ground types.

Usage Tips
========
  • I don't think you need to specify Choice-locked vulp here necessarily
  • I think you should be more clear here about how webs helps Tyrunt (ie. how to use them). You're implying that its easier to set up with webs up, and you should explain the reasoning behind this

  • Amaura sort of doesn't set dual screens, so I would just name the moves

I'd mention sturdyjuice specifically over bj as an inferior option (easier to set up but youre still vulnerable to prio and the strong jaw drop sucks)

3/3, very nicely done

Dragon Dance improves Tyrunt's offensive capabilities, letting it lets Tyrunt outspeed the entire unboosted metagame after a boost. Rock Blast is the preferred STAB move, enabling Tyrunt to break Focus Sash from the likes of Dewpider and Abra while handling Flying-types like Vullaby and Wingull. exploiting Vullaby's Weak Armor. (it feels pretty intuitive that the rock stab move handles flyings, so I added what felt unique to rock blast over rock moves. if this doesn't make sense, though, could you clarify what you mean) Close Combat hits Steel-types like Ferroseed, Pawniard, and Magnemite while allowing Tyrunt to OHKO Scraggy. Psychic Fangs OHKOes bulky Mienfoo after a Dragon Dance boost and serves as Tyrunt's best way of handling nails foes like Foongus and Mareanie. Furthermore, Psychic Fangs is Tyrunt's best neutral attacking move against targets like Mudbray due to Close Combat dropping Tyrunt's its defenses, making it more susceptible to priority from foes such as Grookey and Timburr.

Maximum Attack and Speed investment with an Jolly nature enables Tyrunt to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame after a Dragon Dance boost, with the remaining EVs invested in Special Defense to achieve optimal Eviolite numbers. Eviolite increases Tyrunt's bulk to help it consistently set up with Dragon Dance. helps Tyrunt consistently set up.

Usage Tips
========

Tyrunt is best utilized mid- to and late-game after its checks have been weakened and so it can safely enter the battle and set up with Dragon Dance. Tyrunt can also come in on a predicted double switch against Vullaby, (AC) or after Vullaby has KOed an ally, (AC) and force it out to set up. Tyrunt's Its natural bulk also helps it take advantage of weak offensive threats such as Foongus that has already used Spore and Vulpix to boost up, (AC) and can potentially it can help Tyrunt soft check an opposing threat, aiding its teammates. Usually, dual screens or Sticky Web should be established before Tyrunt switches in, as those greatly eases the difficulty of Tyrunt accumulating Dragon Dance boosts and lets it fire off strong attacks; the Speed drop from Sticky Web allows Tyrunt to threaten foes and force them out, which lets it set up easier. they greatly ease setup directly or by letting it force out more foes. (lmk if something got missed here) Be wary of priority from foes like Grookey, Pawniard, and Timburr, (AC) as they can revenge kill Tyrunt even after setting up.

Team Options
========

Screens support from Natu or Amaura or Sticky Web from Dewpider is pivotal to Tyrunt's success and helps it set up with Dragon Dance consistently. Natu also provides additional utility, with Thunder Wave slowing down foes and Teleport safely bringing Tyrunt into play. Sticky Web from Dewpider helps Besides helping setup, Sticky Web lets (I imagine this makes sense?) Tyrunt outspeed faster threats like Pawniard, fast Mienfoo, and Abra before a boost and hit them with its powerful attacks. Knock Off support from the likes of Vullaby and Pawniard can weaken foes like Ferroseed and Onix into the range of Tyrunt's coverage moves. Psychic-types like Abra and Galarian Ponyta appreciate Tyrunt's ability to threaten Vullaby; in return, they can take advantage of Fighting-types like Mienfoo and Timburr that can trouble Tyrunt. Grookey can lure in Vullaby and pivot into Tyrunt as well as set Grassy Terrain, which helps Tyrunt better survive against opposing Ground-types. Fellow late-game setup sweepers and cleaners like Scraggy and Nasty Plot Vullaby synergize well with Tyrunt, utilizing its wallbreaking capabilities to safely set up and clean late-game. Tyrunt's wallbreaking capabilities. Staryu can weaken a shared check in Ferroseed, enabling Tyrunt to KO it later with Close Combat.

Other Options
=============

Stone Edge is a notable alternative over Rock Blast to guaranteed the OHKO on Vullaby, but it is less accurate than Rock Blast and cannot break Focus Sash. Iron Head allows Tyrunt to damage Spritzee super effectively, but it is generally outclassed by both Close Combat and Psychic Fangs against other targets. Scale Shot helps Tyrunt outspeed opposing Choice Scarf users like Mienfoo and Magnemite after a Dragon Dance boost, preventing them from revenge killing it. Fire Fang is an option against Steel-types that does not drop Tyrunt's defenses and does significantly more to Ferroseed; however, it requires more support from Trapinch and Air Balloon Diglett and is usually outclassed by Close Combat against other targets. Sturdy + Berry Juice can be utilized to surprise the opponent and give Tyrunt a source of recovery; however, the loss of Eviolite makes Tyrunt even more susceptible to priority moves, (AC) and without Strong Jaws, the loss of damage output without Strong Jaw is noticeable.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Pawniard and Magnemite can OHKO Tyrunt with Iron Head and Flash Cannon, respectively, while Ferroseed can cripple Tyrunt it with both Thunder Wave and Knock Off. Furthermore, Pawniard can weaken or revenge kill (feel like this is relevant, but subjective / content change) a boosted Tyrunt with Sucker Punch. However, all three Steel-types should fear Close Combat.

**Grookey and Timburr**: Grookey can KO Tyrunt through the combination of with Wood Hammer into Grassy Glide and can even revenge kill a boosted Tyrunt with Grassy Glide after Knock Off from Vullaby. Likewise, Timburr can revenge kill Tyrunt with Mach Punch.

**Spritzee**: Spritzee can tank all of Tyrunt's moves, even after Dragon Dance, and retaliate with a strong Moonblast.

**Ground-types**: Due to their natural bulk, Onix, Trapinch, and Mudbray can soft check Tyrunt. Onix is capable of surviving +1 Close Combat from Tyrunt if healthy, while Trapinch and Mudbray are able to live any one hit from Tyrunt and fire back with a super strong Earthquake.

this can be 1/1 once you address that comment about rock blast, assuming everything else makes sense
