PU Walrein (Mini) [QC 2/2] [GP 1/1]

[OVERVIEW]

Walrein could fulfill the role of a special wall thanks to its decent bulk. However, it's outclassed by Regice and Assault Vest users like Lanturn and Hitmonchan. Walrein has an okay support movepool, but despite this, it is very slow and has almost no offensive moves to back it up, making it a very passive Pokemon. Despite working best as a decent Ice-type check, it is weak to Stealth Rock and many offensive threats like Kabutops, Lycanroc, and Lilligant are able to deal a lot of damage to it. This, along with a lack of reliable recovery, makes Walrein much frailer than what one would expect.

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive
move 1: Roar
move 2: Toxic
move 3: Surf / Ice Beam
move 4: Protect / Super Fang / Encore
item: Leftovers
ability: Oblivious
nature: Calm
evs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

This set uses Walrein's support movepool to poison foes, rack up entry hazard damage, and stop setup sweepers with Roar while being immune to Taunt. Even then, this set is very passive and lacks recovery, as well as Scald, which is something that other Water-types like Poliwrath and Omastar do have that helps them cripple physical attackers. In the end, Lanturn, Regice, and Omastar function as better walls and tanks despite Walrein's positives due to their better offensive presence or because they aren't weak to Stealth Rock.

[OVERVIEW]
Walrein fulfills the role of a wall thanks to its decent bulk. (this suggests that its viable)However, it's outclassed by Regice and Assault Vest users like Lanturn and Hitmonchan on the special side, and Avalugg on the physical side.(avalugg is unviable, remove) Therefore, Walrein is relegated to the role of a special wall with an okay support movepool. But despite this, it has almost no offensive moves to back it up, making Walrein a very passive Pokemon. Despite working best as a decent Ice-type check, its typing gives it weaknesses to common attacking types, such as Fighting, Grass and Electric(the type weaknesses are a given, list out specific mons or remove), plus being weak to Stealth Rock. This, along with a lack of reliable recovery, makes Walrein much frailer than what one would expect.

[SET COMMENTS]
This set uses Walrein's support movepool to poison foes, rack up entry hazard damage and stop setup sweepers with Roar, while being either immune to Taunt or working as a great Ice and Fire-type check with Thick Fat.(remove thick fat) Even then, this set is very passive and lacks recovery, as well as Scald, something that other Water-types like Poliwrath and Omastar do have, which would help crippling physical attackers. In the end, Lanturn, Regice and Omastar function as better walls despite Walrein's positives due to their better offensive presence, or because they aren't weak to Stealth Rock.

Tfw Toge rises indeed. I will also change my analysis on Beartic because it also mentions Togedemaru.

Is Ice Beam a good option to slash with Surf? I will implement it but please let me know if it isn't Megazard

Thanks!
