Warstory: Ms. Mime and the Psycho Shifting Noctowl.

I hope I am not the only one who enjoys reading UU warstories. OU is dead boring, no variety, and there are many surprises and unusual strategies available with the less powerful tiers. In this match, I opted to use what I call my Rainy Woodlands team, originally it had Seaking on it, but Relicanth has proven much, much more useful.

Teams:

tea_and_blues (as they appeared)

Giffca89 (as they appeared)

Rules: Evasion Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause - All Pokemon at lv100.

tea_and_blues sent out Raichu (Chewable).
Giffca89 sent out Scyther.
Scyther used U-turn.
Raichu lost 103% of its health.
Raichu fainted.
Giffca89 switched in Aggron.
Raichu's Static paralysed Scyther!

Doh! What a first turn. But at least Static came into play, nobody wants a slow Scyther...

...except me.

tea_and_blues switched in Lopunny (Washington).
Lopunny used Switcheroo.
Lopunny obtained Focus Sash!
Aggron obtained Choice Specs!
Aggron used Stone Edge.
A critical hit!
Lopunny lost 107% of its health.
Lopunny hung on using its Focus Sash!

Hmmm, usually if Washington is facing a physical attacker he's sacrificed. Nice to see he'll be hanging around to cause more havoc.

tea_and_blues switched in Relicanth (Bert).
Aggron used Stone Edge.
Relicanth lost 34% of its health.

Giffca89 switched in Scyther.
Relicanth used Aqua Tail.

Relicanth's attack missed!
Scyther is paralysed! It can't move!

Giffca89 switched in Ms. Mime.
Relicanth used Aqua Tail.
Relicanth's attack missed!

I'm still at a loss as to why I was trying to use such an inaccurate attack once Scyther was out. I think it was because I was breeding Beldums at the same time as this match (see, men can multitask too!)

tea_and_blues switched in Lopunny.
Ms. Mime used Energy Ball.
Lopunny lost 22% of its health.
Lopunny fainted.

Hmmm, I guess it's not going to try and status us then. You did well, Lopunny, somewhere out there is a Choice Specs Aggron with my name on it...

Mike is the rarer Special Sweeping variety, so should make short work of Aggron in the unlikely event that it stays out.

Toxicroak's special attack was sharply raised.

Froslass used Ice Beam.

Oh! Of course... ...it has Choice Specs! *face slap* God, that took me far, far, far too long to realise. That's good, means I don't have fear T-Bolt, although I'm not enjoying this loss of SpDef.

Giffca89 switched in Aggron.
Noctowl used Roost.
Noctowl restored 50% of its health.

tea_and_blues wins!

tea_and_blues: gg
Giffca89: Good game.
tea_and_blues: Nothing beats a good UU match
tea_and_blues: Thanks
Giffca89: You're welcome.

Highlights:
  • The sheer amount of status and annoyance I got onto the other team.
  • Washington getting a Focus Sash (even he proved minimally useful later on)
  • Stars' mini-special-walling.
  • Winning with nothing left but a 12% HP Toxicroak.
Lowlights:
  • Just generally how clumsy and forgetful I was.
  • Losing Chewable (Raichu) on the first turn to U-turn!!
  • Losing Washington on a stupid switch when she could have gotten out a Toxic or two out.
  • Not realising Ms. Mime was Choiced!!!
  • Winning with nothing left but a 12% HP Toxicroak.

Great read, that really helps me look into a Noctowl. I think it was interesting because it wasn't a perfect match for either of you, which made it more fun to read and most likely to participate in.

I think you can only learn so much from a perfect match, especially considering - like it or not - many people on these forums are n00bs - like me - who need to play and discuss and learn what not to do.

Feel free not to like it. But feel free to enjoy it, if that suits you.

color-coding the pokemon of each side was brilliant. one tip for the future though: dont use nicknames, they make warstories confusing. use the actual names.

somewhere in this warsories i read: mike used x! i had to scroll up to the beginning and look what pokémon mike was. that alone hampers the fun-factor to warstories.

but overall, good battle and well-written warstory

I would edit out nicknames for regular names. Once "Walrus" and came BACK in I got lost and had to go back up to the top, notice your note about order and apperance, then try and go back to remember when "Walrus" came in and what pokemon it was. After that I just gave up reading, skipped to the first comment saying it wasn't great, and now I'm leaving a post because Im dead tired and don't want to try and focus on reading much more without some edits.

Just edit out the nicks for the real names and that will help, especially since your nicks probably don't make sense to us.

Also, even though I didn't read much of it, I will say props for using Relicanth because he owns and can hold his own in OU in the right niche (probably agility passing baton pass helps), 134% head smash was enjoyable

It was a fair attempt at a war-story, your team was actually quite interesting, although nothing particularly revelatory for old hands of this niche metagame, and provided a good contrast to the more "standard" team of your opponent.

The battle itself provided a nice introduction for newer players - I would like to point out that rain dance teams featuing Parasect are not quite as prevalent as recent war-stories might suggest - as both of you appear to be relatively new to this tier.

One peice of advice though, its always handy to recap the score when a pokemon faints e.g.

X fainted ...
6-5 to me/them/whoever

It just makes battles much easier to keep track of the battle ...

Good luck in your upcoming battles.

Wow, not bad for a UU Team. Relicanth seemed to have done a lot of work in this battle. If only Aerodactyl could learn Head Smash. =D

Good thing it doesn't, it'd be broken as all hell. CB adamant Aero with max attack using a 225 BP move with STAB without recoil would wreck almost everything.

tea_and_blues switched in Lopunny (Washington).
Lopunny used Switcheroo.
Lopunny obtained Focus Sash!
Aggron obtained Choice Specs!
Aggron used Stone Edge.
A critical hit!
Lopunny lost 107% of its health.
